No complaints, easily the best IC Champion. The most talented champion at the time the title meant most.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yeah, I agree. Early January 1992, the IC title meant the most.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm a die-hard Bret mark with no objections to this outcome.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Some guys are just The Man....and Savage is The Man.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Great winner, my only question is what the hell happened to Shawn Michaels?

    ReplyDelete
  11. All that vote spamming, and this is the result.

    Spamming works!

  12. eliminated when he got beat in a bar fight by a bunch of sailors.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Was Sailor Moon one of them?

    ReplyDelete
  14. He forfeited early on like a real champ.

    ReplyDelete
  15. He looks so unhappy in that picture. :(

    ReplyDelete
  16. Awesome. Now let's have a WWE champion tournament so Savage can win that too. "The spotlight should go on top of me!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well if Bret had to lose then that's about the best option B that you could ask for.

    History beckons.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wow be double upped the Hitman. Impressive. Still a little shocked at how Savage smoked Austin but he was still always the winner here easy. Fuck the Mountie. He's Canadian.

    ReplyDelete
  19. wow bret gets runner-up in both tourneys

he's the 2nd best there is; 2nd best there was and 2nd best there will ever will be

  24. Bret/Savage/Perfect could have won and I wouldn't have objected. I personally voted for Perfect throughout but Savage is as good a choice as there could be.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Macho Man lost a ton of non-title matches on free tv when he was IC champ. That's why he is the greatest IC champ of all time.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  31. He was mean to Bret Hart in the 90's and him and his pals robbed us of what Dean Douglas and Jean Pierre Lafitte could have been.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't think anything, specifically. He was one of a group of guys who split off from the Southeastern (Knoxville) promotion after a falling out with the Fullers and jumped to Poffo's new outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  33. What's up with Shamrock getting over 3415 votes in the second round?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Bret Hart is becoming the Buffalo Bills of the BoD polls.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Savage, Razor, Perfect, Shawn and Bret would be my top 5, in whatever order. Honky Tonk Man is interesting because he wasn't a great wrestler and rarely won but his reign was historic for those reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  36. We should have a beloved dead guys tournament. Randy Savage, Warrior, Verne Gagne, Ric Flair....

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't think he was blackballed. One Man Gang and Pez Whatley were there too and they had plenty of exposure in NWA territories.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Unlike Bret, the guy in charge of the Bills knows how to cut a promo...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Verne is still alive, lol

    ReplyDelete
  40. Rex Ryan has never had a line as good as Bret Hart's dig at Pittsburgh.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This time it was 37 of them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Nobody writes Rex's material....

    ReplyDelete
  43. WHO ARE YOU TO DOUBT BRET HART?!

    He's a jam-up guy.

    ReplyDelete
  44. BECAUSE THE CREAM ALWAYS RISES TO THE TOP YEAH

    ReplyDelete
  45. Not for nothing, but did I miss the tag tournament Bronze Medal match? Who won that?

Also, good for Savage. Either him, Hart, or Perfect deserved it.

The Mountie and Honky Tonk Man can battle each other for fourth.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Boooo! I was going to start ranting about how Bret was screwed, but then I saw how surprisingly decisive the vote count was. Oh screw it, I'll do it anyway--the BoD screwed Bret! I'll blame it on Savage's upcoming HoF induction clouding people's judgment.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Guerrero, Pillman, ECW Zombie

    ReplyDelete
  48. It could be a tournament to decided to greatest wrestler names Hulk Hogan and Bret would make the finals.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Stop the presses! HartKiller puts Bret Hart in a top 5 that's positive.

  54. "Savage, Razor, Perfect, Shawn and Bret would be my top 5, in whatever order."

So you're fine with Bret being #1

    ReplyDelete
  55. My favorite version as well. The red lettering of WWF, and like someone said recently, just the way Savage would hold it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Looks like someone's missed a lot more than 1997.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'd put him 3/4. Him and Shawn are a toss up.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm screen shotting this comment.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Savage was the obvious choice.

    ReplyDelete
  60. lmao, watching Bash 89 and they blurred out a sign that said NWA #1, WWF Stinks!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Maybe they are not a fan of the rap group

    ReplyDelete
  62. They kept the NWA part unblurred. Just blurred out the WWF part.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I watched Bret from his beginning in WWF and Ive always been unimpressed. Maybe its all the crying and being such a mark for himself...

    ReplyDelete
  64. Haha, I didn't realize the Punk derp's stuck around to spam Shamrock past Shawn. Good for them.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Didn't Bret pin Piper, which was like his only clean WWF loss, have a legendary match with Perfect in '91, and main event Summerslam, all for the IC belt? I know Savage had his incredibly rehearsed WM3 moment with the IC, but those three Bret events I think add up to more than Savage ever did for the title. Plus I recall vivid Savage IWC hate during his WCW run excepting the DDP series and now all of a sudden he's the greatest wrestler who ever lived? Once again the easiest way to dominate a BOD poll is to be dead.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Get back to work. Chloe's opened that socket you asked for.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Who are you working for?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Savage had the deck stacked against him (Angle, HHH, RVD, Austin, Warrior, Bret) in the tournament and still beat each and every one by a significant margin without any apparent outside interference.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Welp, time to get someone on the bidness end of a guitar.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Bret main evented Summerslam because he was facing the Bulldog in England.

    ReplyDelete
  71. History seems to have forgotten the near half-decade where Randy sucked. Completely sucked.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Kevin Dunn finds you tiresome

    ReplyDelete
  73. Charles Logan. Your time has come, Bauer. He sends his regards.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yet it remembers all that time Bret bored me in that stupid fucking Iron Man match....

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm aware of that, and Savage went on first.

    ReplyDelete
  76. If Bret wasn't facing the Bulldog in England he's not closing the show though.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Moment of silence for David Palmer, especially in light of this MLK Day.

    ReplyDelete
  78. True. Just pointing it out in a sense of making IC belt feel important.

All is right with the world.

In other news, I just watched the Venture Bros. midnight special. FUCK I missed this show.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Im pretty sure Piper did some jobs at house shows for Flair in the WWF....

    ReplyDelete
  82. Macho as IC champ upstaged the biggest main event in wrestling history, Bret had a bunch of dudes with tears in their eyes praising him in the locker room and jobbed the title away to the fucking Mountie and of course bitched about it....

Yeah, I'd say the right guy won and it wasnt close....

    ReplyDelete
  83. He didn't suck during the 414 days he was Intercontinental Champion which is the only period pertinent to this poll.

    ReplyDelete
  84. lmao, reach harder.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Adam "Colorado" CurryJanuary 20, 2015 at 1:27 AM

So what tournament is next? As morbid as it is, I vote for the dead wrestlers one. Or do a RR winners one, we should easily be able to wrap that up by Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Would the Rumble winners one be like best winning performance in the rumble or just biggest star to win the Rumble? Should it include how they followed the win at Mania?

It's not very interesting if it's just biggest star to win the Rumble because Austin/Rock/or Hogan.

But if you factor in other stuff it could be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Adam "Colorado" CurryJanuary 20, 2015 at 1:42 AM

Not sure how many winners there's been. This will be, what, the 27th Rumble? So make it a 24 man tourney. Give Hogan, Austin, HBK, and Cena a first round bye because they've won it more than once, and seed Flair #1 in the bottom bracket because he won the title when he won it. Outside of that people can vote for whoever they want, as long as people can only vote once.

    ReplyDelete
  88. That's what I'm thinking. Winning the title at Mania should get a boost from that.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Adam "Colorado" CurryJanuary 20, 2015 at 1:53 AM

O.k., so Austin as the only 3 time winner gets the #1 seed in the bye round, fuck it, do a coin toss to see which guy gets 2 and 3 between Cena and Shawn for #2 & #3, Hogan gets #4. Flair is #1 in the bottom group, and after that... fuck, I have no idea.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Macho was superior in every way, there is nothing to reach for....

    ReplyDelete
  91. All things considered I think Savage is the GOAT but Bret was by far a better worker. It's ok not like someone, I'm meh about Flair but I still recognize he is one of the greats.

Using played out memes to try and prove your point makes you come of as 411ish and makes me not take anything you say seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Wasn't the greates Intercontinental Champion of all time Jeff Jarrett? ;-) I think the biggest surprise is Ken Shamrock beating Shawn Michaels. And where was the British Bulldog?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Best overall Rumble performer? That opens it up for guys like Kane, Reigns, Punk ... and factors in performances by guys like Austin, HHH, Cena, etc., in years where they didn't win.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Congrats Macho Man.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yep - that's my top 5 as well. I couldn't argue with any of them winning. Shawn's elimination in round 2 was obviously BS from Bret Hart marks but the other four all went far so no real complaints.

Personally I'd have gone for Razor but Savage winning is not a bad call at all.

    ReplyDelete

    Freak out, Freak out, yeah!

What it is, yeah, is what it is! Macho Man wins!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Using 411ish in 2015 makes me not take anything you say seriously...

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well if thats the case, apparently The Mountie got a TON of credit for not sucking both days he was champion....just imagine if he had held the title a full week!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I don't know that I would use the word "beloved" either there.....

    ReplyDelete
  103. Were guys still stuffing the ballots or are there that many guys that visit here? Didn't think 2,000 people came through.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Should celebrate with a montage of his best out-there promos.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Bulldog could have been winning the belt off The Mountie and it still would have main evented Summerslam '92.

Speaking of which, if you ever want to see one of The Mountie's classic performances, Summerslam '92 is one of the best.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Or a Sacred Cows tournament. First bracket:

    Bret Hart
    CM Punk

    Steve Austin
    Owen Hart

    Daniel Bryan
    Shawn Michaels
