Tag Tourney Results Round One: Groups Y-AF

Farewell, Brainbusters.  It was agonizingly close, however.  Biggest rout of the tournament thus far was Los Guerreros over Suzuki & Dupree, unsurprisingly.  Also a mild surprise in that the Wild Samoans completely destroyed the Godwinns, who I thought would have at least got one pity round before bowing out.

We'll step it up to 16 matches per night to close out the first round, including what should be the most intense battle of the tournament later tonight.

Comments

  1. Some of these pairings are downright cruel...especially for a first round match up.

Then there are others where I could even bring myself to pick either team out of hatespiteapathy.

  2. The BOD will explode over the Road Warriors vs Demolition.

  3. wow this tournament is much faster than the 90s music tourney

  4. One thing this tournament shows is how so many bad to mediocre teams have won the tag titles.

  5. Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! (About the Brain Busters, my all time favorite team). Oh well.

  7. Damn shame about the Brain Busters.

  8. Nope. Might drug test ya though.

  9. I was without work for 6 months when my former Co-worker finally recommended me to start freelancing from home... It was only after I earned $5000 in my first month when I actually believed I could do this for a living! Now I am happier than ever... I work from home and I am my own boss now like I always wanted... I see a lot of unhappy people around me, working the same old boring job that's sucking the life out of them day by day... Everytime I see someone like that I say START FREELANCING MAN! This is where I startedhttp://GoogleHomeCareerJobs/Get-StartProfit9456.... THANKS FOR WATCHING ...

  10. If WWE actually cared about the tag titles I'm pretty sure most of the champions would have never won it in the first place.

  11. But LOD had Sunny with barely nothing on.

  12. Godwinns were a joke. Samoans were a little before my time, but I like to think they had more credibility.

  13. Man, that is rough. I have to go SuperBrawl because at least Mania had a very good main event and the X-Pac vs. Shane match delivered. SuperBrawl had all the nonsensical booking *and* hardly anything match-wise. The Horsemen vs. Hennig/Windham tag match was solid enough and Booker vs. Disco was OK, but there was little else to speak of.

  14. That's so sad about Arn and Tully. I like to think that there was a distraction finish where the Rockers' music played and Tully lost by a roll up.

  16. mostly apathy for me. Some awful matchups surrounded by some matchups that should have been farther into the tourney.

  17. The Horsemen get beat by Edge and Christian. Jut let that sink in for a moment.

You you get a bigger beat down then FSU did earlier.

  19. Credibility lost.

  20. Hey, E&C won like a billion Tag Titles and TLC matches- they probably had the most credibility of all of the tag teams of their era (even the Dudleyz).

  21. As bad as most of the 1999 WWF PPVs were, they had at least a good main event.

  22. It's easily one of the worst Manias ever. The Austin/Rock match is OK, but one of their worst overall - there was also zero doubt about the outcome. Rock didn't have Austin levels of credibility, or anything even approaching that.

  23. Plus, pretty much everything on it is great. Even Brown/Venis is strong and highly watchable.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mankind vs Taker HIAC rematch would have blown everything else away. I mean, the card sucked, but not because of the roster, but of the booking.

    ReplyDelete
  25. And which match would have been for the world title? And who would have been the champion after WM? What would have been the last match of the night?

    ReplyDelete
  26. KOTR being an exception as I recall. And Over The Edge.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Some of my guys lost. Too bad about Bourne/Kingston moving on. I voted Bodydonnas too, but I was close on that one and don't mind Eddie/Tajiri squeaking by.

Glad E&C made it though. There're a lot of WCW guys around here so I was a little worried.
