Wrestlemania

So what do you think the Wrestlemania card will be?

I think they're still going all in on Reigns, but apparently current spoiler-y stuff for March shows Cena as champion, so I guess we'll get Cena v. Reigns, ONE TIME FOR ALL TIME.  I think they can do Bryan v. Lesnar then, and then of course HHH v. (The Vigilante) Sting, and that would actually be a decent show.  Obviously fantasy overdrive would be Bryan winning the Rumble and facing Lesnar for the title, and I feel like Reigns would be better served being the guy to beat Rusev instead so they can prep him for next year.  I also feel like they should have Bryan win the briefcase from Rollins at some point if he's not winning the Rumble, because there's no second World title to give him.  Regardless, I don't feel like there's any huge drawing cards here, but it's a different environment now anyway.

Comments

  1. Man, they are really shooting themselves in the foot if they go with Cena v. Reigns for the title. I still hope that Cena pins Rollins to win the belt at Royal Rumble, Lesnar freaks out and beats the ever-loving shit out of Cena, Rollins cashes in immediately and wins the belt. Bryan wins the Rumble. That gives us Rollins v. Bryan for the title, then Lesnar can put over Reigns, and Cena can have his little match with Rusev to kill that guy's heat dead.

I don't know, it just seems that if Bryan doesn't walk out of WrestleMania with the title, the fans are going to turn quick.

    ReplyDelete
  2. If we get Lesnar/Bryan in some form, that'll do me. No doubt Reigns is a potential headliner, but if they fuck it up this time there's no going back - he's ruined.

    ReplyDelete
  3. All in in Reigns? Suffering Succotash!

    ReplyDelete
  4. If Scott is right then what the hell are they doing with Rollins at the rumble? Making him either just a third wheel or sacrificing him for the sake of Cena and a guy who won't be in the company in 3 months?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Reigns/Lesnar
    Cena/Rusev
    HHH/Sting
    Some combo of Rollins/Ambrose/Zigs/Wyatt
    Tag title
    Battle Royal
Daniel Bryan jobs to Heath Slater in the pre-show.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I like it though replace Slater with El Torito

    ReplyDelete
  7. ARRIBA!

    That may just work.

    ReplyDelete
  8. This makes the most since though I just can't see Vince going with two young smaller less established guys headlining the show.

    ReplyDelete
  9. It's the rare face who can be made beating another face. It's so rare it's one guy who did it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. WrestleMania being a permanent giveaway on the Network should've been a one time thing.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Cena vs. Reigns would be such a waste of all the work they've done building Rollins up at the number one heel in the company.

I could actually get behind a Bryan/Rollins main event for Wrestlemania as the heat Bryan would increase the heel heat on Seth. It would be a VERY un-WWE main event though, if that makes sense. It would make sense of them bringing The Authority back so soon though. I'm all for Rollins cashing in at the Rumble and main eventing Mania, but the WWE have to get behind him and book him strong.

Good call on Reigns unseating Rusev, I could actually see the fans getting behind him in that role.

    ReplyDelete
  12. While I'm not confident in it happening, I'm hoping for Rollins to get the belt at the rumble, setting up a shield 3 way at mania. Then have bryan vs lesnar, Cena vs rusev, bray vs undertaker, and HHH vs Sting.

    ReplyDelete
  13. We need Reigns to get knocked out in a match and when the EMTs come to help him he sees a female one and goes "HELLLLLOOOOOOOOO NURRSEE!!!" and then winks at the camera.

    ReplyDelete
  14. This would have worked a few months back but Ambrose has to be on the biggest losing streak in the company

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't really care about the rest of the Mania card as long as we get Lesnar vs. Bryan. I'd prefer it to be for the title, but I really just want to see Lesnar vs. Bryan.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Today?

    I'd say:
WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar (c)
Intercontinental Championship: Dolph Ziggler vs. Wade Barrett (c)
World Tag Team Championship: Big Show & Kane vs. The Usos (c)
Divas Championship: Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella (c)
    Non-Title: John Cena vs. Rusev
    Randy Orton vs. Triple H
    Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
    Sting vs. Bray Wyatt
20 Man Andre The Giant Battle Royal

    ReplyDelete
  17. Given that Bryan has been a main eventer for some time now (injury be damned) and that they're giving Rollins the mega-heel push, coupled with the fact that Vince had Hart v. Michaels headline WM, I actually could see it. As you pointed out above, with Bryan in the Rumble, he HAS to win it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is great way of utilising everyone, but Ambrose would need a really, really strong run to make it viable.

    ReplyDelete
  19. All this time we waited for Sting to arrive and it'll be wasted on HHH further trying to be Flair by facing his biggest rival.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yea I can't see a way around Bryan but Brock seems like the better bet for Mania to me. Bryan defeating the giant would solidify him more than beating the up and comer. It's a shame that they are punting to so hard on Ambrose as a big huge final blow off for Rollins Ambrose at mania could be good for both but if Vince is willing to go Rollins/Bryan I'm all in

    ReplyDelete
  21. Does anyone care about a Sting match at WM? Tagging with Undertaker or something, maybe, but one-on-one so HHH gets his Mania match - no thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Moderately interested in Sting vs. Wyatt but that's about it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Spoiler Alert -- Cesaro does not repeat.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Right now I'd say Ambrose or Harper wins the Battle Royal.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Losing streak = push according to the manatee writing staff. Plus, a strong showing in the rumble, going to final 2 with reigns, could repair a lot of the damage.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe they have a tradition going for whoever wins the Battle Royal spends the next year getting buried.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'll wager Sheamus, since he's European and such.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1. Lesnar vs Reigns
    2. Rollins squashes ambrose
    3. Cena v Rusev
    4. Hhh vs sting in a 25 minute match
    5. Bryan vs returning heel sheamus
6.Miz v Sandow on the pre show
7.everything else will be through away crap they won't even build up

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dude, you nailed it. The guy ended THE FUCKING STREAK. Of course, he should be headlining.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Looking at the tag division, really wish WWE would sign the Dudleys to come in and heel it up as foils for the Usos. Doesn't have to be a long program, just through Wrestlemania. The obvious good program would be Cesaro and Kidd vs. The Usos, but they'll never give Cesaro and Kidd that spot.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Where does Orton fit?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sting and the Usos vs. the Dust brothers and one of the Ascension guys in a face paint-off.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Warrior memorial match.

    ReplyDelete
  34. actually replace the ascension guy with Damian Stingdow

    ReplyDelete
  35. Orton/Sting vs HHH/Rollins, perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Orton's the wild card in a lot of these scenarios. I think most people assume he's coming back as a babyface and will feud with Rollins or the Authority, but I wouldn't put it past them to forget what happened when he left and just bring him back as his normal heel character. If he's a babyface, pretty much has to be Orton/Rollins, Orton/HHH, or Orton/Lesnar (Lesnar losing the belt pre Mania)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hhh will not be working a tag match at mania.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Unless it's Bryan/Brie vs. HHH/Steph which will go on last with HHH/Steph standing tall to close the show.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Probably, but it would make sense. And Ambrose would be left out, which he probably will be anyhow.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Only if Bryan was taking the pin. If they tried to have brie job to save some heat he'd veto it IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Stereo pedigrees and simultaneous pins.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well duh! Steph has already pinned Brie.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm hoping for Cena vs Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan in a "You got us fired you stupid twat" match.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Too logical.

I will give it a 5% chance that they swerve us with Ziggler coming back as a heel and attacking Cena setting up a Cena/Ziggler match for Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I hope they understand the massive face pop Ziggy would get.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Cena & Sting vs HHH & Rollins

    or what about "War Games"

Cena, Sting, Undertaker & Ambrose vs HHH, Big Show, Kane & Seth Rollins

    ReplyDelete
  47. It'd take some particularly good creative which is why they won't do it. Ziggler wouldn't be the traditional heel. You'd essentially do it Hogan/Savage style where Ziggler's positioned himself as righteously indignant over Cena's, as Mach put so perfectly in the Megapowers feud, "hotdogging and showboating" and Cena would feign ignorance similar to Hogan and it'd split the crowd like the crowd has always been split with the adults pro Ziggler and the kids pro Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Bryan vs Brock or Bryan vs Rollins seem to be everyone's choice, but I'd love to see Bryan challenging Cena for the title - if it was built correctly. If they built towards the match with Cena being a little bit darker, a bit more serious, worried about Bryan getting one over him, annoyed at the crowd being 95% behind Bryan, I think you'd have the audience in the palm of your hand. Old timers like me would wonder if Cena would do whatever it takes fend off Bryan (think Austin at X7) and there are so many options as to where you actually went with the match.

    ReplyDelete
  49. They paid him to be there. That's Brock's motivation for everything.

    ReplyDelete
  50. WWE will never ever never ever never ever never ever put Bryan over Cena in a Wrestlemania main event. Never. Ever. Never. Ever. Never.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Awww yeah taxes are filed.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Was just thinking:

Would Orton work as a "Sting in the rafters" anti-hero watching the Authority? It plays to his strengths (RKOs out of nowhere) while minimizing his weaknesses (speaking, having the same 15 minute match each week). Orton-Sting stalking the Authority until Summerslam would be interesting, keep him occupied instead of putting him in the Reigns vs Authority story and might freshen him up. Than boom instant big match with Rollins at Summerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Such a shame. If there's anyone who could take a loss without any damage to their status whatsoever, it's Cena.

Just imagine if Cena tried and tried but could not put Bryan away, and Cena rolled outside and brought a chair into the ring. Everyone watching would lose their shit.

They always tell is that they "tell stories", but they don't tell very good ones most of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  54. If the Authority is around until Summerslam...

    Ugh.

There's very few things Orton can do to get over as a legitimate face. Random RKOs are definitely one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It could turn into Orton just stalking Rollins. If he's with the Aurhority fine, Orton wants this specific guy to pay.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yeah I think you're spot on with how to use Orton if they go with turning him.

Essentially make him Austin like where he just wants to wreak havoc, make Rollins pay, randomly drops RKOs on people.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The modern era wouldn't accept the Megapowers story as it went. Savage would have been cheered in half the country. Hell, the event was in Jersey.

    ReplyDelete
  58. The key would be having Orton not have matches until that time. They really should have Ze Authority fire him in Kayfabe. He's one of the few characters where it's in character to keep showing up after being fired.

    ReplyDelete
  59. They've got a really easy story there if they want it. Orton lays out his motivation in a promo. A year ago he was going into Wrestlemania as the WWE champion. He was never beaten for the belt, Batista tapped out. He never got the rematch he deserved. Triple H jerked him around for a year and then handed his rightfully deserved spot to Seth Rollins. The only thing he cares about now is ending the Authority for good. Takes down Kane pre-Mania. Takes down Triple H at Mania, stalks Rollins after Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Like Ambrose started to do before Holograms and Movie filming.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I know it's 7 hours out, but are you going?

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'd leave him off the Mania card. Keep Sting-HHH and have Orton interfere. Than just make him the God of outside interference fucking with Rollins for two months while Rollins is feuding with someone disposable (Ryback?).

    ReplyDelete
  63. If there's anything I've learned from Jeff Jarrett...it's that multiple Stings don't work. Just like multiple Black Scorpions don't work.

    ReplyDelete
  64. What's their story, though? What's their history?

Like, if you had Bray doing some terrible shit to someone, then Sting would be a great foil. But what is he doing other than rambling on?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Bryan v Rollins was done several times in ROH and it was always 4+ stars. I think with the added experience and the huge crowd, it would be an easy 5 stars now, but this isn't NJPW and the two best workers won't be facing off.

I like Scott's card. I think Reigns v Cena could be ok. It would certainly be fresh and Cena can carry almost anyone to a decent match. Bryan v Brock would be epic. That's 5 stars waiting to happen.

I just don't see Bryan being the face of the company and winning the Rumble, regardless of what we all want. They were already skittish about him in the first place and now be got hurt for almost a year.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I don't know, but it seems like an easier fit than Sting/HHH.

It's a shame they did the Survivor Series crap, because it's hard to work around it.

For instance, they could have had Sting enter the Rumble. So he enters like #15 or something like that. Clears the ring of 3-4 heel jobbers, crowd's real hot. #16 is the Wyatt lights out/intro thing. Wyatt is standing in the ring behind Sting when the lights come on, Sting turns around, Wyatt clocks him and throws him out.

Wyatt cuts some promo about how Sting is fancies himself the avenger of the wrestling business. The crusader for justice in WWE. And he's the anarchist. He's chaos. And it will be the biggest notch in his belt to date to topple the legend Sting.

Of course, the problem with that is why the hell would HHH let Sting in the Rumble now.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Is beating Cena for the title really that big of deal? He's already lost it 15 times, plus the unification match with Orton, plus rematches, ect. Cena is getting to Glass Joe territory.

    ReplyDelete
  68. How sad of a state is the WWE in right now, when fantasy booking Randy Orton can be seen as an amazing angle? (but yes, a good one)

    ReplyDelete
  69. That's the thing, though, they just don't employ basic storytelling logic.

I'm sure if someone brought that story idea to Vince, he'd say something like "Who cares, that was a year ago" or "People don't care about titles, why would they care that Orton's upset about the belt" or "The audience is full of idiot millenials who can't think past five seconds ago, they probably don't even remember Randy Orton was the champion."

And the reality is all the best TV shows of the past 10 years or so, they set stuff up and they pay it off, and it makes sense, and when the whole thing clicks together for the viewer, the viewer feels good about what they've been watching.

Vince has this era all wrong. He thinks it's short attention span theater, when in reality, with the amount of information and technology available, and how people discuss things online, people are actually more open to longer form stories that unfold over time because they get to talk about them, provided that they actually make sense.

  70. Theberzerker Von HUSSingtonJanuary 16, 2015 at 9:27 AM

Everyone keeps forgetting Orton will be in the mix too. He definitely won't be fighting Kane in the 2nd match this year. Maybe Orton/Ambrose somehow? I'd say Orton/Rollins, but I think that will be the feud between now and Mania rather than at the show.
What I'd like, of course, is some course correction on Ambrose and having just a modicum of continuity to remember that he promised Seth he would be there whenever he tried to cash in the briefcase, thereby screwing Rollins out of a cash-in and having a final blow-off match at Mania. But I know it's a pipedream at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Theberzerker Von HUSSingtonJanuary 16, 2015 at 9:28 AM

Also, I think a 3-way Shield match is quite possible at this point as well.

    ReplyDelete
  72. My best case mania 31 card at this point would be
    1. Bryan vs Brock
    2. Shield 3 way for the belt (if RR has to win the belt)
    3. Cena vs Rusev in an cena v umanga type unexpected classic
    4. Hhh vs sting at 15 minutes max
    5. Feed a heel sheamus to returning face orton

    ReplyDelete
  73. What about this:

Reigns wins the Rumble - Bryan get's eliminated because of Rollins (Authority Master Plan)
Lesnar retains or Cena wins the title

    Wrestlemania:

Opener Bryan vs Rollins for the MITB Case -> Bryan wins!

    .

    Title Match
Lesnar/Cena vs Reigns -> Lesnar/Cena retains in a relatively short match.

    Cash in Bryan
Bryan wins the Title in a 20 Minute + match

    ReplyDelete
  74. No too far, and the packages were really expensive. I looked into it and it was also crazy expensive. Like the package with the floor seats for raw and mania were 6 grand and you had pay for all this meet and greet stuff I wouldn't be interested in. Like a wine tasting with wwe superstars and stuff...lol

    ReplyDelete
  75. "Reigns Season!" "Rollins Season!"

    ReplyDelete
  76. There's no chance Reigns is headlining Mania this year. No chance.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The Love-Matic Grampa!January 16, 2015 at 9:46 AM

Bryan vs. Lesnar for the title
    Reigns vs. Cena
    HHH vs. Sting
    Ambrose vs. Rollins
    Orton vs. Show
    Wyatt vs. Taker

I think this card would accomplish WWE's goals, give us some good-to-great matches and builds off the booking for the last year (such as it was). If they're still determined with Reigns, then having him go over Cena would probably mean more at this point anyhow and you can do it again for the title later.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Just registered to state the obvious: Bryan is going to be eliminated by someone from outside the ring, which will start his Wrestlemania feud. Sheamus, Kane, whoever. Someone's going to pull the ropes down when Bryan is running them, or leap up and forearm him in the back, or storm into the ring and toss him out. Someone who has already been eliminated or never in the match will cheat to eliminate Bryan, and that will be Bryan's Wrestlemania feud. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Theberzerker Von HUSSingtonJanuary 16, 2015 at 9:49 AM

I like this...but who gets to dethrone Rusev then? Maybe give Hogan what he wants, using the POWER OF REAL AMERICANISM to KO him in like 30 seconds?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Theberzerker Von HUSSingtonJanuary 16, 2015 at 9:50 AM

Big chance actually, but that's a step up from the utter certainty it was a couple months ago.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I've been saying that from the moment that rumor started. He can't have a 15 to 20 minute one-on-one match in the WM main event. Why? Cause he's never had one...ever.

    ReplyDelete
  82. They fucked up with Rusev anyway. Swagger was the guy.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Theberzerker Von HUSSingtonJanuary 16, 2015 at 9:52 AM

I like him, but I don't care nearly enough to get all upset if he's not dethroned the "proper" way. And at this point, Bryan can lose to a half-rotten cactus in the pre-show if it gets me that damn Ambrose/Rollins match.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Sounds like what happened to CM Punk. Think they'll retread that?

    ReplyDelete
  85. They fucked up with Rusev when he got pinned at a House Show in the middle of Nowhere, Texas.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm more annoyed because it's easy booking and they went a way that made Rusev sympathetic. Ideally Jack and Rusev have had no contact yet; Rusev starts wiping out guys like Sarge, Hacksaw and finally after the Rumble he and Dutch have HAD ENOUGH AND FIGHT USA RARRGHH. Nah, they have to Vince the shit out of this and have Rusev look like he has a point.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Hold on a second. Abeyance will be here to welcome you.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Lol...okay, Wine Tasting with Santino or someone like that would be a blast. I would jump all over that. That's a YouTube classic waiting to happen.

That said, it's insane that the package deals are 6 Grand.
I paid $300 for Floor Seats to XXX (18 Rows back), and I had friends in New Orleans who took me in, thankfully. I think the total damage (with HOF tickets, gas money, souvenirs and Program) was about $600.
Anything over a Grand is just bonkers, in my mind. But hey, smoke if you got 'em.

    ReplyDelete
  89. This is fine, but I don't want Orton RKO'ing specific people. Orton needs to be in tweener "disrupt the show mode", where he runs into a match and hits everyone in the match. Just like, 3 or 4 times in a night, destroy the entire show.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Lol...I love how "Vince" is being used as a verb. Kevin Nash would approve this.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I'm with the Breezeman on this. Reigns has not talked about the Rumble in quite some time...but Bryan has. Usually, whoever's talking the Rumble is winning the Rumble.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Cena v Reigns seems like a really really bad idea. Smell the crowd apathy. Also dumps on the heels you've built up, especially Rollins.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yeah, I think there was a time when Reigns vs Cena would have been the one way to get smart fans behind Reigns, but I think that ship has sailed. I think Reigns is dead meat to us lot now no matter who he faces.

    ReplyDelete
  94. But, it's Jack Swagger.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Even if he wins the Rumble and even if he's pencilled into the main event the morning of Mania, I still won't believe it till I see it. It's just so obviously a bad idea right now that surely even Vince has had second thoughs

    ReplyDelete
  96. I don't know, I think they still have time to build Reigns differently if they go that way, it would be his first genuine feud against someone that could carry him to a potential 4 star affair. I want Dbry for the title as much as the next guy and I think the iron has cooled significantly on reigns, but I'd rather that scenario than Reigns vs Lesnar, where it's clear that most fans will go the way of Lesnar and shit all over the new "face of the wwe"

    ReplyDelete
  97. "Sufferin' succotash, son!" may just come to be known as the promo that killed the career trajectory of Roman Reigns.

    ReplyDelete
  98. HHH. It will be HHH, and he will force Bryan to face THEDEMONKANE. Just because they're stupid enough to give Bryan THAT as his big "comeback" match/feud.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Why does he need to get dethroned at WM? have him beat cena at a ppv after WM and have him take out reigns or bryan for the title, and have one or the other chase him for WM32. Oh wait that would actually require some level of competency on behalf of their writers, nvm.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Cena....as champion. Tying Flair, no one cares. Welcome to yesteryear.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Reigns isn't near ready. He's just not and if not for the fact they decided long ago he was going to be the next guy he wouldn't even be considered for a main event match at Wrestlemania this year. I think the most appealing main event would be Bryan and Brock. The story's already there - Bryan never lost the title, Brock's been dominant for a year, big vs little, etc. I don't know where it leaves Sting but a program vs Triple H wouldn't be a bad thing for Reigns, it gives him a big Wrestlemania program and HHH can work to put him over.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Much like Hassan had a point....hrrrm. Something seems similar here.....

    ReplyDelete
  103. Is it the promos that are hurting him with the regular crowds, though? I'd say their reluctance to give him a clean win over even Big Show is probably even more of a detriment in fans' eyes.

It just amazes me that this is the company that got the Shield and Wyatts so crazy over that the crowd got starry just seeing them stare each other down in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Good question, but I just feel it in my bones. Whether it's exactly like Punk's elimination or not, his WM feud begins in the Rumble match, as a result of or resulting in his elimination. It's just the right amount of "Booking 101", laziness, and disorganization.

For all I know, it could result in an awesome feud and matches. I'd really like to see Bryan vs. Brock and think it would be good for the future health and creativity of the company, but if we can get 3 months of cool matches and TV out of a Bryan vs. Reigns / Rusev / Cody Rhodes / Neville / whoever, I'm fine with that. Let them run wild on Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I would do Reigns vs Rollins at 31 for the briefcase. Rollins' character is due a shit kicking and Reigns can do that. Plus, Rollins is such a good heel that I don't think fans will turn on Reigns. And Bryan as champ and Reigns with the briefcase is a pretty interesting situation for the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Exactly. His ceiling is Jim Duggan, who was really useful as a midcard face who could job to rising heels all day without it hurting him. That's an asset WWE currently doesn't have.

    ReplyDelete
  107. It sucks that this is the year Sting comes in and is tied down with Hunter because there are way more interesting matches out there for HHH instead of Sting. I'd much rather Sting face Taker in a 10 minute old timers match.

    ReplyDelete
  108. ha Probably. It's actually smart, long-term booking (Bryan should want revenge on the guy who put him out, and it should be him crossing hell and high water to get at him), but it's unfortunately a feud that no one wants to see blown off. If Brock had broken Bryan's back, people would be going apeshit for DB to get his revenge, and it would really mean something. It's unfortunate that it's a veteran mid-carder he needs to get revenge on, or it could be really cool to have culminate at Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  109. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 16, 2015 at 10:31 AM

How about this. Cena defends the belt against a returning Stone Cold Steve Austin so that Austin can "pass the torch" to Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  110. The WWE comes from Vince Sr.'s fear of heat and riots. Modern pro wrestling shows are about as dangerous as the old St. Louis shows. It's okay to get real heat now.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I really think Cena would be booed out of the building if that happened.

    ReplyDelete
  112. MikeyMike, JuggernautJanuary 16, 2015 at 10:32 AM

I think people would climb out of the stands to attack Cena,

    ReplyDelete
  113. He was booed out of the building with Rock too.

    ReplyDelete
  114. It would send the fans home happy, that's for sure. But I have no faith in them not to make Bryan look like the biggest asshole in the world for cashing in on poor, injured/exhausted/depleted Cena.

  115. With confetti raining down and everything....WHY is that such a plausible scenario, but anything that pleases fans seems so out of reach?

    Oh. Yeah. HHH/Steph.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I'd rather watch Austin/Cena than Austin/Punk tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Hey, if the Miz managed it, why can't Bryan? The company seems to be a lot higher on Bryan than they were on the Miz, and Bryan has the distinction of cleanly going over Cena in their one match together.

    ReplyDelete
  118. It used to amaze me...then I realized this company could fuck up even the simplest premise these days. Hogan, Austin, Savage, Rock....NONE of them would have had a chance in this environment. Not with the Living Ego, Idiot Tits, and her Senile Daddy Warbucks running the show.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Bryan vs. Lesnar sounds good, I dont see it happening but I do like the idea.

    ReplyDelete
  120. HA! That youngster Austin is due for a WrestleMania payday, right?

    ReplyDelete
  121. 'Mania suddenly seems interesting now, where just a few months ago it seemed like it would suck.

    ReplyDelete
  122. The Living Ego seems to be most people's hope for the future these days. Bryan praised him in an interview just a day or two ago.

    ReplyDelete
  123. You know, you might be on to something. I think this will happen, but I think it will be Roman Reigns who bites that bullet, and it will happen during the Final Four. Probably Big Show's doing.
I don't know why, but I have the image of Benoit and Show from 2004 (the Front Face Lock over the ropes spot) in my mind for this year's finish. I bet that Bryan and Show are the final two guys, and Bryan pulls off some miraculous elimination to win (like 2004) the whole thing.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I don't think Sting would be very effective as an opponent for one of the younger guys to go over on. His only value to me at this point is in a legend vs. legend match, and if 'Taker's too beat up, it may as well be HHH.

    ReplyDelete
  125. It was only a few months ago that an HHH/Reigns staredown got a "This is awesome chant". And while that chant is overused these days, it at least shows that there was interest in a match between the two.

    ReplyDelete
  126. can't they just do Cena vs Brock for the title & The Shield in a 3 way against each other

    ReplyDelete
  127. Cena/Brock again? No thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  128. "The Rock already passed him the torch" - Abeyance

    ReplyDelete
  129. woops...lol Bryan vs Brock...will edit

    ReplyDelete
  130. Cena needs all the torches

    ReplyDelete
  131. I believe Cena wants to do this. Austin interviewed him a while back and Cena told him if Austin wanted to wrestle one more match, he hopes it'd be against him.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Agree 100%. Swagger should have beat him, and then Rusev should have demolished him to get his heat back. Win/Win. Rusev looks like a monster, Swagger gets a bump for being the first guy to beat Rusev.

    ReplyDelete
  133. They haven't fucked up Rusev at all. He's awesome

    ReplyDelete
  134. It's a house show. Does it matter?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Would a decent payoff to The Bunny be The Bunny enters the Battle Royal and just starts beating the shit out of guys. Powerbombs, Suplexes, whatever. It eliminates a monster like Big Show or Mark Henry in a display of raw power and then at the end takes off the suit and revels it's Cesaro. Renee Young runs down to the ring to get a word with him: "Here's your brass ring, Vince," holds up the trophy, walks out.

Instantly would rehabilitate him and bury several of the most embarrassing parts of this year.

Of course, they would do this and then have him lose cleanly to Sin Cara the next night on RAW.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Need some tag teams.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I like Rusev a lot. He's done a really good job. I just feel like his booking has been really lackluster.

    ReplyDelete
  138. You know, let's put a pin in that Austin idea and have Cena go over next Mania.

    In Dallas.

    Yes.

    ReplyDelete
  139. In the age we live in? People have more access to information than they ever have before...and if they're still a fan, they will probably follow House Show results (for multiple reasons...maybe there are tickets on sale in their town, maybe they want to get a glimpse of feuds or matches to come, etc.)

I do get your point, though. Wrestling is in such poor shape these days that it's easy for General Apathy to rule the day. So when nobody cares about the product, nobody's going to care about this result. I completely understand that, but if Goldberg lost at a House Show in 1998, I guarantee we'd still be talking about it today.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Cena would have the same odds of getting out of Dallas alive as JFK did. heh.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Because, you see...it's not the we can't see him, it's that he can't see us. Cena has been BLIND all along!

Now don't you all feel bad for booing him?

    ReplyDelete
  142. The general apathy is obviously the biggest problem in general, but you have to remember how huge Goldberg was at his peak. The guy almost rivalled the Austins and Rocks of the world, and he was a novelty, more in terms of his presentation than in terms of his booking. Even if Rusev was working in a more successful era, it's a bad comparison because there's no way he could've matched the investment fans had in Goldberg and his streak.

Plus, I honestly don't think many fans, smarks and casuals alike, care that much about house shows. I'd be considered a smark seeing as how I frequent a wrestling blog and follow the WWE pretty closely, but until you mentioned it I didn't know Rusev had lost at a house show. And now that I do know, I don't particularly mind or care since it's a house show.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Hell, why not just book everyone on the roster in a 4 hour hell in a cell war games battle royale. HHH vs Bryan starts in an ironman match.

    Brock vs Bryan WWE Title
Cena vs Taker If Cena wins Authority disbands forever
    Sting vs Triple H
    Rollins vs Reigns vs Ambrose
    Ziggler/Ryback/Orton vs Re-united Wyatt Family
Miz vs Mizdow for the rights to the gimmick
Nikki vs Brie vs Paige vs AJ
    Andre The Giant Battle Royal

    ReplyDelete
  145. You're right, Rusev and Goldberg are worlds apart in terms of fame and notoriety, so maybe a more appropriate example would be Umaga.

Umaga was starting to get over as a major heel in late 2006. They waited until New Year's Revolution for him to get beaten, and that show did a decent number as a result. If he was going to lose at house shows leading up to that PPV, isn't it fair to say that WWE would've lost hundreds of buys from every house where they booked that finish? I mean, the payoff would've already taken place!

That's kinda my point with this...it's not a big deal, but it's noteworthy because now any payoff with him won't have the same gravity.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm sorry, you're going to need to explain that Cena vs. Taker match to me. What's their buildup? What's their story?

    ReplyDelete
  147. 2015 has become They Can't Be This Stupid 2: The Stupening at this point.

To soon? Or not soon enough?

    ReplyDelete
  149. Anyone following house show results is obviously smart enough to realize that Rusev isn't actually undefeated.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Sting vs. HHH in the old blue cage please.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I would totally pay to see Lesnar toss Bryan around like a rag doll. Not too badly, you don't want to hurt the now Mr Glass-esque Bryan, but just to show the massive difference between the two. Would be fun!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Sounds like one hell of a waste but whatever entertains the crowd I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  153. That's what I assumed this whole time.

It's vinces avatar (cena) vs triple hs avatar (taker) that they've wanted to do for so long.

Cena is given the chance to be the hero, which the Zigglers of the world urge him to do, but he is conflicted at having to "put down" a legend to do so.

Taker motivated by redemption is enlisted by his "greatest" wrestlemania opponent to do his bidding. While not initially interested in any of the authority nonsense, he becomes increasingly angered at the narrative that Cena can and should mow him down as if he is some after thought.

Taker vs Cena, the fate of WWE hanging in the balance. Taker the war weary gunslinger in his final stand, Cena wrestling with the collateral damage of being the hero.

Oh, and Vince and Hunter, lord knows we need them.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Even when people complained about Sheamus winning the Rumble, he was the only one at the time talking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  156. And the fans wouldn't care, because fuck Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  157. At least they didn't give it to Jack Swagger or Cody Rhodes. With their impediments, we would've been looking at THE feud of the year.
I can see the marquee now..."Jack Swagger vs. The Letter S"

    ReplyDelete
  158. On one hand, WWE should give the fans what they want. But on the other hand, I don't think WWE should have to let Daniel Bryan win everything just because the crowd will boo if he doesn't. Even during the height of Steve Austin's popularity, he didn't hold the championship all the time and he didn't win the Rumble every year. Same goes for the smark darlings (Benoit, Jericho, etc.) and same goes for the megastars (Hogan, Rock, etc.). As cool as the whole Bryan revolution was, I think it may have created a monster in that fans are now spoiled into thinking they can and should completely dictate every booking decision with no patience for "the journey" or letting a story unfold.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Totally totally agree.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Shelton Benjamin BlondeJanuary 16, 2015 at 12:45 PM

Really? No rapes or heel turns here. Just giving Cena something interesting to do and Taker a chance at redemption after last year.

The story to get there is window dressing to satisfy their need to "tell stories".

Vince challenging the authority again after their failure at Survivor Series. The babyfaces rallying Cena to right his wrong of bringing the authority back. H playing emperor palpatine, convincing Taker that beating Cena is his chance at redemption for losing the streak. Cena having to go to extreme lengths to defeat Taker, and the aftermath of those decisions.

But hey, lets hope for Wyatt and Taker instead because of fireflies and buzzards and shit instead.

    ReplyDelete
  161. If not for that match, they should totally break out Ol' Blue the next time the do one of those "Old School" Raw's.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Dream card

Hulk Hogan vs. John Cena or at least A arm-wrestling contest.

    Sting vs. Taker

    Crock Lesnar vs. Bryan Daniels

    Roman Tegins vs. The Crock

    ReplyDelete
  163. Has WWE ever acknowledged on-air that Reigns and Rock are cousins?

    ReplyDelete
  164. Bryan/Brock is the match that I've wanted to see ever since they brought Lesnar back, so I sincerely hope we get it in what will likely be his last wrestling match ever. Danielson is pretty much the only guy I care about at all these days, so I don't even really care if it's for the title or not. Just let him do the big guy/little guy match that he does so well.

...and I'm not trying to be one of those "oh, I'm so cool because I call the guy by his real name" kind of fans. It's legitimately really hard for me to get used to calling him "Daniel Bryan" because I knew him for so long by his real name, which is infuriatingly similar. Honestly, I switch back and forth at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Did you know that Tamina is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Taker always beats HHH, and he's not around enough to care about The Authority firing him or "making his life miserable" if he doesn't comply, so why would he feel compelled to do HHH's bidding?

    ReplyDelete
  167. If/when he ever takes control entirely, the only bright spot I can think of is that he's GOT to stop wrestling eventually... and at least his matches aren't embarrassing yet.
