Wrestlers Thoughts on a Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns Match

A lot of wrestler are really concerned that neither Lesnar or Reigns can lead a "WrestleMania caliber" main event match. They feel that Lesnar can work a certain style but cannot lead and that Reigns is unable to lead a match as well.

Backstage Reaction to Seth Rollins' Nude Photo Scandal

Right now, there is no heat on Rollins for the incident as WWE officials believed that he was hacked. A memo was also sent out to the talent requesting that they do not discuss or make reference to the situation publicly because it would be "insensitive" to Rollins.

WWE Issues a Statement Regarding Darren Young

Young, real name Fred Rosser, criticized the WWE for running shows in Abu Dhabi as the conutry looks down upon women and homsexuals then got upset when told to delete his tweet and sent out another tweet about how his freedom of speech is gone and that no one had his back. Here is what the WWE sent out in a press release:

“WWE does not discriminate against individuals regardless of age, race, religion or sexual orientation, and we continue to proudly support Fred Rosser (aka WWE Superstar Darren Young) for being open about his sexuality.
Unfortunately, WWE cannot change cultures and laws around the world, and thus we did not send Fred Rosser to the United Arab Emirates for our upcoming events for his own protection.
WWE also fully supports Fred Rosser’s right to express his views on personal social media accounts rather than WWE’s corporate platforms.”

Comments

  1. That Zayn/Neville return match was pretty good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  2. So, Twitter must be corporate since he had to delete the original tweet.

    ReplyDelete
  3. WWE handling the Rollins thing very classily. Good for them.

    ReplyDelete
  4. WWE supports Fred Ros-
    wait. he's gay?
    :: office meeting ::
WWE would like to wish Fred Rosser well in all his future endeavors.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Congrats to Young for speaking his mind...I love the Fully supports the right to express his views on personal Social media accounts rather than WWE's Corporate platforms...uhm....what personal social media? You take censorship control over all of their interactions.

Also you have to think that Stone Cold won't be getting free reign in future network podcasts after the headache Chyna has been since she was brought up. She was like a bear in hibernation and now HHH is having to denial domestic abuse allegations.

As for the wrestlemania main event...man...if only the fans liked someone who could take Brock to a great match...I don't know maybe some great work rate undersized guy...

    ReplyDelete
  6. But he can do whatever he wants on Myspace.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Maybe he can create a Twitter account with the handle "FredRosserNotWWE"?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing the entire undercard just rebel and stand up for themselves against the WWE but they would just replace them with people from NXT like they were nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  9. We do not discriminate or want to censor him in anyway...he is free to speak mind as much as he wishes at his livejournal.com\FredRosser

    ReplyDelete
  10. Or his Grindr account.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I also love the...before we admonish him....IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM BEING GAY....part of their official statement.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The fans think Reigns-Lesnar will be bad; the boys think Reigns-Lesnar will be bad; the wrestling critics think Reigns-Lesnar will be bad.
    DAMNIT, YOU'RE GETTING REIGNS-LESNAR

    ReplyDelete
  13. They actually used his coming out for some cheap publicity via TMZ like two years ago then bungled pushing him when he had some mainstream press by immediately breaking up the Prime Time Players.

    ReplyDelete
  14. IF I was a WWE guy and wanting to keep my job. I would not post a damn thing on twitter or any social media unless the writers handed it to me.

    ReplyDelete
  15. "We have always supported the gays, Adrian Adonis, Johnny B. Badd, Rico, Billy & Chuck. We even have a few gay friends!"

    ReplyDelete
  16. "A lot of wrestler are really concerned that neither Lesnar or Reigns can lead a "WrestleMania caliber" main event match."

So fans are not the only ones who don't think they would make a good match.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Tell that Rollins' ex-fiance.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It's Kane and Big Show back stage saying they don't think those two can hang in the main event.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Screw it, job Lesnar to Big Show and he and Kane go at it for the title.

It's obvious Vince and Co. are convinced those two are the only guys they can trust.

And who are we to argue?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd assume if your fiance is "hacked" and posts nude photos of another woman (which suggests she's been sending him naked photos) and you fight back by posting naked photos of your boyfriend that might be grounds for breaking off an engagement.

    Maybe that's just me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. They should be happy there’ll be at least one match on the card nearly
    as shit as theirs

    ReplyDelete
  22. In the real world, yes...in a wrestler's world...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Considering the Smackdown spoilers, that match could happen at Mania

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm thinking Seth was starting to stray from the Fiance and left his browser open and perhaps clicked "Save this Password" on a few of his home computer accounts. Then I'm thinking the lady got a bit crazy in her response. Though I don't know if that would count as a "Hack"

    ReplyDelete
  25. Good. Keeps them from ruining anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I wasn't even talking about Rollins..that is a different story I was referring to Young and Orton and everyone else who has deleted and or apologized for tweets. It's too slippery a slope. They want you interacting with the fans and promoting the brand but one false mood or Vince in a bad mood and you are in hot water.

    ReplyDelete
  27. NERDS!

    Wait..

    ReplyDelete
  28. well she did have all his leather outfits and hundreds of bottles of hair wetting water on the front lawn when he got home.

  29. Watching a couple of matches from NJPW New Beginnings this afternoon. Cherry picking for now as I don't have time to watch everything. Ibushi vs Honma was ****1/4.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love the idea of Vince reaching desperately for marketable co main event and him settling on "Kane vs Big Show".

I'm sure I'll love it even more after Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, totally. I wouldn't go anywhere near using Twitter in any way. You can still do social media stuff, ala, Ryder, but...eesh.

    ReplyDelete
  32. yea...well an argument could be made about Ryder too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. And he'll give them like 15 minutes. Lots of chokes and slaps on the chest.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 15 minutes, for a marquee match up like Big Show/Kane? You're out of your mind, pal.

25-30 minutes on the low side.

  35. Matt_INDEED_Was_Bayless'd!February 11, 2015 at 8:49 AM

It's clear that Darren Young was so mad about being quieted that he hacked into Seth Rollins' phone and started the backstage talk that Reigns and Lesnar will suck.

    What a problematic young man.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You do the voting a month in advance, then use the intervening Raws and Smackdowns to build to it...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Logistical nightmares, probably, but if, say Asbury Park or Atlantic City really cared about revitalizing their economies, they could do (and already are doing) a lot worse than taking patronage from the WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Its right there - a pay per view can be purchased from the cable company. Doing super shows just on the network means you have to have the network to watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. How serendipitous that this was today's "5 Things":

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZA4P4kV5fHg

    ReplyDelete
  40. In the follow up AOW podcast Punk said he was in talks with Slim Jim to be their spokesman but WWE got involved and ruined it for him.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Without knowing what's available in the writing world, it seems like it's an "either/or" thing. Aren't there people who write TV that also are fans/understands pro wrestling? But then again, you can have the best idea in the world, but if it's changed at the last minute as often as it has been said in the dirtsheets, why bother? I hope that job pays well because I'm not sure I'd put up with that very long.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I know, but they always need to go for the "we can't make money" thing and that's BS. You can find almost any way to make money if you're creative. This was the same BS argument against the internet for years from companies and look where that is now, There are a thousand ways to make money on it - the buildings can be had for free and they can usually supplement security from the resort if they advertise the venue and advertise it ahead of time to fans as a vacation getaway with some sort of fan expo like with SummerSlam and that can help recoup any costs as well.

    ReplyDelete
  43. That is truly pathetic, but it didn't cause them to quit running stadiums forever. It's their apathy that drives me nuts: business isn't improving with X on top, go to Cena; the product looks exactly the same each Monday, so use that same look for the PPVs; some of our matches have style clashes so make everyone have the same moveset and style rather than higher a competent booker that can avoid the trainwreck matches.

    ReplyDelete
  44. But why would it be better for WWE and for the booking and the stories and for us, if they have a show where they don't get extra money, when the show itself has the same content as the other PPVs?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Time was, the WWE's biggest problem with writing week to week was that they started treating monthly PPVs as 3-hour Raws.

Now, Raw IS 3 hours and because of the Network, the PPVs ARE 3 hour Raws.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm sure there are, but I was under the impression that WWE tried to avoid hiring fans as writers.

    ReplyDelete
  47. No I think you're right, but that's what is so confusing to me. I get it that they want professional writers on staff, I don't mind that at all, but wrestling is such a unique show, I would think you would have to be somewhat of a fan to "get" what works in this environment and what doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Agreed. Since the Izod Center is a no-go for SummerSlam, there's no reason WWE can't run a stadium for what is supposedly the 2nd biggest show of the year. That would give at least one big show a different work and (gasp!) a big-show feel.

And I mean big show, not Big Show.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Why stop at 12? I say WWE should have PPVs every week. That way JBL can keep pitching the Network by saying "4 PPVs for only $9.99! What a great deal Maggle!"

    ReplyDelete
  50. Vince hates pushing anything that is not his idea, so he would never use a WCW PPV concept.

Court Bauer confirmed on JR's podcast awhile ago that even if Vince likes an idea that isn't his, he will stubbornly refuse to use it because he hates telling people they are right. Then Vince will wait until some time passes before he brings up that exact same idea and takes full credit for it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. But... Big Show and Kane!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm hoping for Barclays Center since its 3 subway stops away from me but it'll probably end up in Newark.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm not sure about seasons. I feel feuds should last what ever feels natural and leads to a satisfying conclusion. However, I do believe that the performers should be cycled in and out every couple months and given some time off, so they can stay healthy and stay fresh.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think external shows are very hard to pull, despite looking different and cool. I don't think they don't need to go outside but they need to atleast change the set ups and venues.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Its good in theory but then you will get:
    Hardcore match
    Falls count anywhere match
    No holds barred match.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm hoping for the Garden. Cuz it's THE GARDEN.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think Night of Champions is a dumb concept.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'll take the garden over the prudential center .

    ReplyDelete
  59. John Cena Power Ranger action figures would do business. Leaving money on the table!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I like the mental picture that comes up at the thought of Vince making a note about someone's idea and writing "bring up in 2 weeks" in his day planner.

    ReplyDelete
  61. That's right up there with breaking up tag teams so you can pay 2 guys for a match, instead of 4, as ass backwards thinking coming from LOW.

    ReplyDelete
  62. However, I'm not sure if the Garden is cost effective to run TV out of anymore which is why they stopped.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm rooting for met life just so I can tailgate. That and it's easier for me than Barclay's or newark.

  64. Virgil's Gimmick TableFebruary 11, 2015 at 11:27 AM

WWE needs to have a beach show just so they can put Ziggler in the crowd as a special easter egg. The dude looks like he's constantly having a beach day.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The name of the show has no impact on the actual product.

Plus, "NXT- Takeover: Rival" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love how you openly acknowledge that being eager for Russo is a disaster in the making.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I always felt that the wwe should run a raw at a baseball stadium. Imagine raw at wriggler field or Fenway park. They could call it the summer classic

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think EC3 has potential IMO

    ReplyDelete
  69. Oh I know it's going to be bad. The question is which is period was worse.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I still get some old nitros taped from the russo era. Every time I watch them theyre definitely not boring and there's always something wild goin on. Even if it is stupid and doesn't lead to anything good. The only real good thing I can say about russo is he had a real good sense of having characters instead of gimmicks

    ReplyDelete
  71. Legally, WWE weren't allowed to fix those Taboo Tuesday/Cyber Sunday votes, they were all genuine, the issue was they either gave you lopsided choices (arm wrestling, verbal debate or street fight) or things that were essentially the same per WWE's rules (no DQ, hardcore, anything goes).

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ssssh don't ruin the delusions!

    ReplyDelete
  73. They're going to places that pay them to show up, not booking arenas. At least that's what I read.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Obviously you didn't research your statement before making it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. If you were to make up PPV names, what would they be?

    ReplyDelete
  76. I always loved bash at the beach and outdoor Manias - but a train station? That kicks ass! I shall have to sign up for a free trial of the network methinks, as I never got to see any of that back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  77. They won't risk the field getting beat up in the middle of the season.

It's a shame that the US hasn't bought an Olympics in a while because wrestling would be fun in one of the abandoned venues like Athen's Panathinaiko Stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  78. One thing came to my mind - when Hostess went bankrupt, someone picked them up and kept Twinkies as Twinkies.

They didn't rename them - it was a good brand name.

Ok, WCW is a ok brand name (Well, maybe not, but you know).....but man a Starcade PPV in december? NXT Chi Town Rumble is a awesome idea.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Actually when TNA had weekly PPVs it was a good idea, because it made every show somehow worthwhile to watch, because they had no filler and they didn't needed to waste time with jobber matches, because they could treat every match as an actual "ppv quality match".

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hell in a Cell should not be tied to any PPV and should only be used when a feud calls for it. I also would stop giving MITB its own PPV and make it a draw for one of the established PPVs. If they don't want to move MITB back to WM where it belongs, at the very least move it to Summerslam since there's nothing specific established for that.

I would cut down to 7 PPVs:

Royal Rumble (late January) - Rumble winner gets Wrestlemania title shot
    Wrestlemania (late March/early April)
    Backlash (mid-May)
King of the Ring (late June) - KOTR winner gets Summerslam title shot
Summerslam (late August) - MITB match and cutoff for previous year's winner
Night of Champions (early October) - Title and top contender matches only
Survivor Series (late November/early December) - Survivor Rules matches are initial Rumble qualifiers

    Yup, horrible, man.

I actually find it dwarfs the talent, too. They don't look larger than life anymore. They're smaller atheletes these days, anyway, so it REALLY doesn't help.

I mean, they seem to love using a fuck off WWE logo. Couldn't they just have some cool big WWE logo they walk out from, then use the supershow sets for PPV's? That's AT LEAST feel somewhat fresher and make the big shows look, well, big.

  86. Assuming they stick to the 12 PPV format....

    January: Royal Rumble
    February: Superbrawl
    March/April: Wrestlemania/Extreme Rules
    May: Spring Stampede
    June: The Great American Bash
    July: Bash at the Beach
    August: Summerslam
    September: Fall Brawl
    October: Halloween Havoc
    November: Survivor Series
    December: Starrcade

    ReplyDelete
  87. I'd changes Superbrawl only because it sounds too grand a month before Wrestlemania, and Extreme Rules because it's a lazy name. Keep it extreme rules matches but call it something more creative.

    ReplyDelete
  88. How bout No Way Out and One Night Stand respectively? As long as we work the themed events in, I am good.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Oh please, nobody bought Great American Bash because they knew it was a WCW name. Which is a shame because they missed out on Bradshaw headlining two of them.
