Comments

  1. This asshole in one of my fantasy hockey leagues just dumped all his good players in a trade. It probably won't get vetoed because the league ain't that active. Such bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Taped shows where it'll sound like Vince's new toy gets reactions like '87 Hogan/'98 Austin? Hard pass, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Stupid Network isn't letting me watch Clash 13.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I watched Man of Steel again, still don't get the hatred of this movie.

    ReplyDelete
  5. It's not very Superman-ish. Just like how many die hards hated Burton's Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  6. It's very strange to me that Sam Waterston played Nick Carraway...

    ReplyDelete
  7. I enjoyed that this one actually tries to be different, not like Superman Returns which is a poor carbon copy of the Donner films.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Although true, I still prefer Returns to Man of Steel.

Mistakes in SR could have been avoided, but hindsight says it should have been a reboot instead of a continuation of Superman 2, which was already over 30 years old in 2006.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I enjoyed Routh as Clark Kent, but he fails as Superman.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It's weird, but I usually don't mind smackdown as much as Raw. Lowered expectations maybe since being taped means anything major would have leaked.

    ReplyDelete
  11. This happened after a Raw in November '13 and is one of the coolest brawl segments I've ever seen:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u23mwcOdNpk

Felt like the Attitude era, where everybody just lost control.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Lol Russo is saying Vince would have legit gone to fight bischoff at spring stampede if wasn't the same day as,Stephanies college graduation.

I think we can all call bs on that

    ReplyDelete
  13. Watching Top Five...chris rock is getting better as a filmmaker.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:41 PM

Well, even Bischoff said Hogan warned him not to make the challenge because Vince would likely show up. There might be more truth to it than we might believe.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Like Sandler, he can be great when he wants.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Have you seen Vince try to throw a punch?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:42 PM

In real life? No. But then again, none of us have.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Just guessing by the way he throws a worked a punch he would have no idea what he is doing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. His write up on the Monday night wars is good though, and its hysterical when he calls the network series a wwe fairy tale

    ReplyDelete
  20. I saw it three times. Definitely his best all-around movie.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I did like that he freely admitted Vince would kick his ass.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Would we really want to see Bischoff knock around Vince?

    I'd pay to see it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You think Bischoff would win?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Routh was okay as both in my book. Most people thought his Kent was poor. Bosworth's Lane is quite poor. The overall plot was okay, but it relied on far too many plot points from Superman 1 and 2, and it presented Superman's son in a poor fashion. Singer did an exceptional poor job of showing's Superman's disappointment at being left behind by Lois and the world. Worse than the stalking appearance is the deadbeat dad appearance, which could have been avoided completely by not having a son in the first place.

There were so many of these types of problems that a full reboot was clearly the better choice on hindsight.

The best thing that Man of Steel did is embrace the power and largeness of Superman's world. He's powerful, so make him powerful. Destroying a city in a fight showed off his power is very good. But it brings an element of realism that people don't necessarily want. The Avengers did a better job of hiding public death counts and damages than Man of Steel, showing much more destructive outcome and leaving audiences with the questions of "why did Superman let it happen?" Avengers did an excellent job with presenting NYC is in chaos, and lots of people lived. Man of Steel did a poor job in implying that HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS if not MILLIONS died.

I'm not a fan of Whedon, but he's clearly better than Synder, which somewhat a surprise since Synder has done big budget movies before.

  25. Anybody here play Crusader Kings 2? I'm trying to get this mod to work and it keeps crashing on me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:46 PM

15-plus years ago? No way Bischoff wins.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Visually, it was good, but the characters sucked. I'm OK with a reboot, but don't take away the idealism and romance that Superman is known for.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Take your shirt off! Tweet The Rock!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Agree. I know he has a black belt... but so does my 7 year old former step son. Karate in this country is a joke 90% of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just run around and tire Vince out.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:47 PM

As an avowed Superman fan, I didn't have the problems with it other people had. It had action and was a good set-up for the new DC Cinematic Universe.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's my best guess. Bischoff has done some competitive karate and I know nothing of Vince other than that he lifts.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Let me hug you, Bayley!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I still prefer the Donner films and Superman vs The Elite.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  36. Cocaine is a helluva drug, it's a power serum for Vince.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Dan Spivey wouldn't have been the worst idea in the world for the Black Scorpion.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Did Montana recently get divorced or take up gambling? Doing more ads now than he did the previously 20 retired it seems

    ReplyDelete
  39. Is it known whether or not it was supposed to be Flair the whole time?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Is it just a sly way to grab her ass?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I highly doubt it was supposed to be Flair.

    ReplyDelete
  42. There was no plan. Ole came up with the name and Jim Herd thought it was real.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Or how about, you don't let The Fucking Undertaker walk and make him the Black Scorpion. Imagine how different things would have been if that happened?

    ReplyDelete
  44. You mean Joe Montana, right? I saw him on a Spanish-language morning talk show and he had a definite "the check cleared, right?" vibe about him. (He wasn't speaking Spanish, BTW. He had an interpreter.)

    ReplyDelete
  45. ??? Leg day in the gym???

    ReplyDelete
  46. For someone of Montana's caliber, commercials are free money. He probably gets paid millions just to say 4 words.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:52 PM

Animated movies don't count, but yes, the Donner ones are much better than Man of Steel.

    ReplyDelete
  48. http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers-stadium/ci_27468920/joe-montana-teams-new-developer-stalled-project-across

    ReplyDelete
  49. Definitely and can't complain about free money but do you remember him doing many ads in the past? Post-retirement, it seemed like years went by between sightings

    ReplyDelete
  50. I prefer my superhero genre to stay far far away from realism and a good distance from gritty darkness.

I feel the genre falls apart very quickly when too much realism and grittiness is added, and they weight down the material without adding much in return.

Examples of these are Batman the Animated Series vs. the Dark Knight Returns. Superheroes are absurd, but BTAS controls and fits the absurd into acceptable elements. DKR presents such dark and realistic plots that it become cumbersome and difficult to accept. DKR by itself is fine, but the proliferation of Miller's style into the entire medium has tainted and ruined many books and characters.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love people giving main event superstars silly entrances in WWE games, but this...my eyes.

  52. Lockdown is tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Huh, interesting, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Did Montana have the GOAT status he does now in 1995?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:55 PM

Wasn't it supposed to be Al Perez?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Eh, he had those two ok-ish years in KC but he was still Joe Montana

    ReplyDelete
  57. "The back seat of my Subaru is where she grew up."

Oh, Subaru commercials. She probably did much more than grow up.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Back then, I remember GOAT conversations were usually centered around Montana, Unitas and Marino (despite no rings).

    ReplyDelete
  59. So maybe he's just trying to drum up more cash for that move?

    ReplyDelete
  60. ...and I still think Young stepping right in and carrying on hurts Montana in the greatest of all time talk. Fuck, Jeff Garcia seemed competent in the west coast

    ReplyDelete
  61. I always wished SNL or another comedy show would joke about "the backseat is where my daughter got pounded by the football team"

    ReplyDelete
  62. He played the part for the Clash match against Sting.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Would be my guess. Just seems weird he kinda disappeared for a good while now he's buddying up with Papa John/Peyton and some type of insurance-y commercial...that'd explain the ad push

    ReplyDelete
  64. Stranger in the AlpsFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:58 PM

    Jump, jive an' wail, motherfuckers!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Baron Corbin should be nowhere near a microphone. Ever.

    ReplyDelete
  66. All 3 of those guys were awesome. Walsh found Garcia in his 2nd run with the team as president. It took them 13 years after dumping Garcia (who had 6 or 7 years left) to get another qb.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Eh. Young lost three NFC title games before winning a Super Bowl, so I don't know about that

    ReplyDelete
  68. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 5:59 PM

Right, although I also thought he was supposed to end up being the guy behind the mask but didn't come to terms. Which led to the bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Why is the New Jersey lottery drawing so whimsical? And why is my local FOX affiliate showing it to me in Pennsylvania?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yeah he's really been all over the place. Obviously he's a big star so why not, but its odd he didn't do it much before when he could of.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Steve Young is my favorite player ever, but Montana was better.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Stranger in the AlpsFebruary 5, 2015 at 6:00 PM

I use a streaming service that uses local channels from Harrisburg. I get a laugh when they give a winter weather update. It's almost the complete opposite of weather in Texas.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 6:00 PM

    You're on lockdown tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  74. True, and I'd consider Montana the greatest I've ever seen play (so basically '85-present) just saying if you wanted to ding, that might be one possible angle

    ReplyDelete
  75. In that case then, I think it's just a matter of he didn't make himself available to do commercials until recent, hell Favre is only getting into the commercial game now.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Stranger in the AlpsFebruary 5, 2015 at 6:01 PM

Tell me about it. I can't leave the office until all my work is done tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Wasn't Favre doing jean commercials in between dick pics and retirements/returns though? And eh, just found it curious/interesting. He left a lot of money on the table in the past 20 years I imagine.

    ReplyDelete
  78. ....Reigns' Show spear was a great visual, but cripes, he better not make a habit of delivering it like that, head first into show's chest?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Marino is my favorite player ever. Young is my least favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Smackdown intro recapping Bryan pointing at the sign Monday....this is so going to backfire on them just to keep status quo and Reigns in the ME

    ReplyDelete
  81. I could of sworn those jean commercials were within the last 2 years or so.

    ReplyDelete
  82. This Pizza place has kinda shitty food but god damn if they don't make the world's greatest pepperoni rolls.

    ReplyDelete
  83. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2pIvg-2vEY one from apparently 2008, but yeah, players don't necessarily have to ramp up the ads post-retirement, just was curious what prompted Montana after 20 years

    ReplyDelete
  84. Her character development over the last year is the kind of subtle stuff that the WWF used to be really good at back in the 80s. Loved the little moment this week with her singing along to her theme and then going to high five the ref. And little girls love her...she could be the face of the division for years.

    ReplyDelete
  85. They filmed that so long ago, I literally couldn't even tell you what happens anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Finally got my army discharge yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Like a stromboli/stuffed bread type thing or something regional?

    ReplyDelete
  88. They're like these mini baked rolls.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Jesus H, Fergal throws a ridiculous chop.

    ReplyDelete
  90. "I went through 29 superstars"...yeah, not so much

    ReplyDelete
  91. It only took them 6 months to finally start booking Reigns properly again

    ReplyDelete
  92. Pillman with a pretty sick half of a Asahi Moonsault.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Wasn't Favre still playing in '08 though? I'd put that in the easy money category too.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Luger would have been a decent choice for the Black Scorpion too.

    ReplyDelete
  95. More like 15 or so.

    ReplyDelete
  96. IT'S THE ASCENSION!

Oh wait, it's just Seth Rollins.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm guessing WWE is gonna run the same Black History Month tributes they ran on TV last year, and probably in the same order (IIRC: Ernie Ladd, Ron Simmons, Bobo Brazil, Tony Atlas & Rocky Johnson). Would it be too much to ask to do something on Bad News, Booker, Koko, Jacquelyn, etc.?

    ReplyDelete
  98. There is a new indy promotion opening here in like a month. At the first show they are going to have Hemme, Tully's daughter, the Wolves and some other names I think I may have vaguely heard of. Might go check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Eh, semantic nit pick of anything, would have been fine if he said "outlasted"

    ReplyDelete
  100. His theme sounds like some dudes just picked up a guitar for the first time and started strumming indiscriminately.

    ReplyDelete
  101. He called him a jerk!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Roman, please don't smile. You should be shooting daggers with your eyes into Seth Rollins.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I wonder if they still force the talent to haul that Money In The Bank briefcase around everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  104. She's getting better in the ring, too. My favourite thing about her is her mic work. She plays the super nervous and uncomfortable/intimidated role during serious promos very well. The gulps, the looking away, the gesticulation-- they're the subtle things that I love.

    ReplyDelete
  105. You should be spearing people in 30 seconds since your return.

    ReplyDelete
  106. According to Rollins, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Rollins costs Reigns the match at Fast Lane, setting up Reigns vs. Rollins for WM31, while Bryan gets Brock for the title. Bryan wins at WM31, Rollins cashes in on him the next day as he's all battered and bruised from the Brock beating. Makes sense, right?

    ReplyDelete
  108. It's kinda sad this is the second free month, and I've yet to sign up free or paid, though I probably will cave by Fast Lane to see what they do with Bryan

    ReplyDelete
  109. The fans want to see a proper Daniel Bryan title run period.

If they let him beat Brock he should be champ until Summerslam at the least. One day screw-job = More Endless fan revolts.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Free yeast rolls is the reason why I should go to Golden Corral? WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm pretty sure Doc Rivers has the hair tattoo thing going on.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Roman just getting in the ring and immediately knocking Miz out was pretty good. This is how Reigns should be booked, bad ass who fucks people up. His promo wasn't half bad either, not great but worlds better than his fucking storybook bullshit. Reigns should have knocked HHH out and then said yes to facing Bryan/Rollins at Fastlane.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Jim Ross is on the verge of tears yelling BRAD ARMSTRONG HAS NEVER GIVEN UP after he gives up to the Big Cat.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'd be shocked if half of those names even appeared.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Davey will show up. But he'll make the promoter pay on advance, then he'll run with the money.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Agreed. He holds it until SS and the fans get it out of their system.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I wouldn't put it past a new promotion to book all these names, then last minute say they couldn't make it.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I see Dolph has been relegated to Ryback's "lil buddy".

    ReplyDelete
  119. The WWE tag team division: Ryback and Ziggs

    ReplyDelete
  120. Got a mail from WWE. Seems like they are now offering the free February to old subscribers as well.

    EVERYTHING IS FINE!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Rollins has to cash-in sometime before MITB, though. So does he try it on Bryan and fail, or use it for a proper PPV match, at Extreme Rules or Payback or whatever?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Like Boozer from a few years back?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Oh yay!

More team miscommunication shenanigans from the Dust Bros. Then they can argue but not quite come to blows after the match and then they can do it all over again for next weeks Raw & Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I agree. That was the best Reigns has looked in a while. I just wish didn't smile while Rollins was on his spiel.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Time to lay down for the Ascension.

    ReplyDelete
  126. If only he still had a stunt double...

    ReplyDelete
  127. Indy promotions are fun to check out. They usually have a good atmosphere. Also you get to check out some newer guys and watch them before they maybe become famous. The wrestlers can be nice to shoot the shit with as well.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I got no such email and my card was charged as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Do that for a few more months and you have whatever the hell they're going for with Adam Rose

    ReplyDelete
  130. Because THAT'S WHAT INDIES DO!

    ReplyDelete
  131. I feel like WWE missed the window of when people would really care about a Cody vs. Goldust match.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I wouldn't mind it if they nudged the rules to extend it. Why not? But there is nothing wrong with him trying to cash it in and failing. He's got The Authority so why does he even need it?

    ReplyDelete
  133. But Rollins is okay in the eyes of the smarks, so wouldn't those fan revolts just cancel out?

    ReplyDelete
  134. I think if they do resign Brock this happens except Brock wins and keeps the title.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Ryback says he's from the 5th dimension...

    ReplyDelete
  136. Missing windows: Then, now, forever

Are we back to that match for WrestleMania?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Dr. Floyd is landing on the moon... business is about to pick up.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Old subscribers. Not continuing subscribers.

    ReplyDelete
  140. They had the opportunity at WM 28.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Seth would make a great PPV challenger after Mania. Let him be a man and challenge Bryan directly.

He'll be a babyface by the end of the year anyway so might as well start planting some seeds.

    ReplyDelete
  142. That's what I've been saying. I thought they should've had him put it on the line and lose it to Ambrose, because Rollins basically has HHH as his MITB.

    ReplyDelete
  143. THEY STILL GOT A LOT LEFT IN THE TANK!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Extant1979 - Mr. Cable AccessFebruary 5, 2015 at 6:25 PM

SOmeone get him to say Kcabyr and make him go away!

    ReplyDelete
  145. It's called micropigmentation

    ReplyDelete
  146. THE YORK FOUNDATION!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Goldust isn't retiring until he gets it.

    ReplyDelete
  148. At this point it's become a waste. He lost at the Rumble and then got another shot on Raw at a number 1 contender match. He can keep getting number 1 contender matches cause there doesn't seem to be a limit on them.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I think they've genuinely forgotten about that angle.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I look forward to Goldust return #34 in 2048.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I would personally book it where Rollins cashes in right after Bryan beats Brock. Have Rollins surprise him, curbstomp his face into the title, cash in and win the title. Then you can do a nice back and forth feud between Bryan and Rollins into the summer. Then maybe do Rollins vs Reigns at SummerSlam and that's where Reigns wins the title. Also I would have Reigns have earned his title shot after winning a one night King of the Ring tournament.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Like it, but have Rollins lose to Reigns, but cash in at mania. Epic heat plus reigns can come down and do Owen from mania 10.

Have some gimmick 3 way were Bryan gets "hurt" at extreme rules do Rollins/Reigns till Summerslam. If Reigns still isn't over bring back Bryan to defeat tge authority.

    ReplyDelete
  153. How many runs has Dustin had in WWE now?

Has he passed Chris Jericho or maybe Rob Van Dam holds the record by now?

    ReplyDelete
  154. How did the Star Blazer not make millions?

    ReplyDelete
  155. I disagree, give the fans a good match between Brock and Bryan, Bryan beats the beast and Rollins wins the title through nefarious means. To be honest, Bryan's story works better as the chase.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Radio Shack files Chapter 11. Another part of my childhood dies.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I thought they already did but I was thinking of Circuit City.

    ReplyDelete
  158. My parents met one another while working together at a Radio Shack over 40 years ago.

That being said, the people that worked at the Radio Shack near me were pretentious assholes.

    Feelings = conflicted.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Anything that involves bringing back KOTR, I'm for it.

    ReplyDelete
  161. They rebranded as The Source up here years ago, i wonder if they're even the same company by now.

    ReplyDelete
  162. No man. Just give him a 4 or 5 month reign so this can be over.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Cool! I love that Dawning of the Age of Aquarius song.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Needed an audio adapter recently and was too impatient for amazon prime. Sold out at Radio Shack...it's the one thing they do and they were out.

...rumor has it Amazon might buy some of their locations and set up retail shops (seems stupid but eh)

    ReplyDelete
  165. I think they should do that, but if they really don't want to, giving him brief moments of glory is the best they'll do.

    ReplyDelete
  166. So if Goldust were to retire this year, over/under the amount of time before he gets into the HoF: 3

    ReplyDelete
  167. Rusev is beating Cena at Fast Lane, right?

    ReplyDelete
  168. So is this team called Rybazzler?

    ReplyDelete
  169. I know they don't but this really needs to end. This isn't like any other situation where a burial will shut the fans up. It just makes them fight harder. Not sure why Vince would want this to continue.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I'd be tempted to say under. Have they announced where Mania is after Texas next year? They're running out of "names" again.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Yup, I love me a good King of the Ring tournament. I really think it could carry a PPV, one night KotR 8 man tournament. Also it makes Reigns look strong.

    ReplyDelete
  172. How is Radio Shack a part of your childhood? Who would ever go there on purpose? That's like being sad that Staples went out of business.

    ReplyDelete
  173. '01-07, '13-'14, and 2014.

    You're right, it's 3.

    ReplyDelete
  174. They fucked themselves with their ridiculous prices. Also millenials not giving a shit about home stereo systems killed them as well as cops cracking down on car stereos.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Goldust said on Twitter he's not retiring and that the rumor wasn't true.

    ReplyDelete
  176. He should. I would have just waited to do that at Mania altogether.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Depends on if they're sticking Rusev in with Sting/Cena and HHH at Mania. Wins if he's a part of that match, some sort of DQ or non-belt transfer ending if they're just moving on

    ReplyDelete
  178. They meant more in the 70s - early 80s.
