More Reigns/Bryan (Sorry)

Scott,

Can't we just see the glass half full and be glad that the WWE is pushing SOMEONE other than Cena? Bryan had an entire Wrestlemania built around him (whether by accident or not) and got to have a moment that most people will never get.

If Regins is as bad as we all think he is, won't he just fall flat on his face anyway?

Yeah, but again, if they were actually PUSHING him, it would be fine.  But they're not, he's trading wins with Big Show and generally looking like every other midcard geek clogging up the show.  But with better hair.  If he was out there destroying Big Show and Kane and telling HHH to go fuck himself, then people would probably buy him as a legit threat.  But they're not.  Vince has seemingly decided that Reigns is the guy, and we'll all telepathically know this and accept him as the Brock-killer without any work on his part.  That's not how this wrestling thing works, unfortunately.  Reigns has no story being told about him, no real obstacles to overcome, and no mortal enemy to play off, so they can't even pull the "We're telling stories!  We don't know where the next chapter of the book is going!" bullcrap.

  1. I don't think there really are any "clean" athletes around anymore. Maybe Tom Brady?? Maybe some MLB players?? This is a non story and it's sad to see sports companies throw there stars under the bus for this stuff.

  2. HHH on the podcast actually talked about how some fans are disgruntled with Reigns b/c he's getting quote/unquote pushed.

  3. Too late to do a Boyhood Dream angle?

  4. Their booking of Reigns makes me like him even less. The way he is in interviews makes me believe he would be better booked as a Corporate puppet company promoting douche heel with the belt than like he is now. Come on a heel Reigns as "the guy" for The Authority vs Daniel Bryan would be nice to see.

  5. If anything he's gone backwards - from fearless mute badass to sulking when HHH said he has to wrestle either Rollins or Bryan (didn't seem like a 'heel' sulk either, just Reigns being a pussy)

  6. Exactly WWE's booking/writing/whatever is the laziest shit. They don't even try yet expect world shattering results.

They have done nothing to justify Reigns climb up the ranks since his return from injury, not a thing.

  7. They think the way to get world shattering results is just to say "this is a world shattering result"

  8. I enjoyed the podcast. I went back and looked at some people's reactions to it and were surprised at how negative they were. HHH didn't come across as smarmy and seemed willing to be somewhat open, but also kept some stuff close to his vest in his own best interest as would anyone.

Someone made a comment "Chris Hero, HHH is talking about you" and I laughed b/c I had the exact same thought when HHH was talking about guys who weren't there anymore not being open to his suggestions.

  9. We were talking about that on a thread last night, that Ryder in no way whatsoever should be main-eventing Mania as champ but he's ten times more over than Reigns yet getting no push.

  10. Other way Reigns is being undermined: their weak response to the crowd booing Reigns. The whole "it's a free country, I'm fine with the crowd speaking their mind" is such a pathetic response. It makes Reigns, like Cena and Batista before him, come off as a submissive coward who wants to avoid conflict.

  11. Silva at one time was considered the elite class of MMA, but has any fighter of his renown had a more embarrassing three-fight stretch?

    July 2013: "You can't hit--*WHAM*"

December 2013: "Oh look, I have three ankles"

January 2015: "I need to take this so I can be the apathetic stoned guy"

  12. It's well documented that Peter Maivia isn't blood related to any member of the Anoai family, so even IF Dwayne was the blood grandson of Peter he still wouldn't be blood related to any of those guys.

  13. but but...it's a triple H match, he can't possibly have a good match!

  16. Let's not get crazy. Very obviously there are guys on that roster still on some form of drug. Recreational or not.

  17. Because Sherri was totally "same and sober" when they put her in.

Just saying. Let people judge themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So they tested him in early January and didn't get the results or tell the UFC until now? WTF is even the point of doing "out of competition" testing?

  19. How much money do you suppose they're going to throw at Lesnar now?

He goes nowhere until they squeeze one more Wiedman "redemption" fight out of him.

  21. Been an Anderson fan for a long time and this is WAY disappointing. Can't believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Naw, I think it's a very safe bet that virtually everyone on the roster is on something - either the testing program isn't as strong as other organizations or, much more likely, wrestlers are really on the ball with knowing how to pass the tests. There are lots of ways to be juiced to the gills and pass tests if you know what to do; the only guys who get caught these days are the stupid ones.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The policy is a joke as long as guys like Ryback, Cena, Reigns, Orton, Lesnar, etc. are on the roster. All obvious juice monkeys. Even Vince and Triple H are life long PED users.

  24. This is why UFC needs a Straight Edge Champion!

  25. All that matters is that they were having fun out there Maggle!

  26. Hey now, Jones was fined $25000 by UFC! That's almost 1% of the millions of dollars that he made off that fight.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Although he's been busted for drug use in the past, I don't think Orton's so big that one need automatically assume he's on something. He might very well be, but he doesn't look ridiculous like Cena or Ryback. Actually, Reigns has been looking smaller too recently (possibly because of the hernia) and he wasn't *that* huge to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It was all a misunderstanding. It was Anderson Silva's girlfriend that was juicing.

There are people that still give a fuck about Kane in 2015? WHY?

  31. Besides Punk (eventually) and when or if Brock goes back....Fuck UFC.

  32. Who cares, I still have Ronda

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've read several articles about this sort of thing. Orton has the "Brad Pitt Fight Club" body going on and it absolutely takes PED's to achieve that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Remember when the UFC used to can guys who failed their tests post-haste (*cough*CHAEL SONNEN*cough*)? Three of their top fights have now failed tests in the past month alone.... and nothing happens.

  35. For being cheats?

  36. In one of the Bleacher Report articles it said that this was the first time SIlva has ever been tested Out of Competition. He always had the day before fight and post fight test. Make you wonder if this really is a one-off thing.

  37. At the time, Sunny seemed to be doing pretty well.

Hindsight is 20:20 and all, but it seemed like a good move at the time.

  38. Whatever negatives she had as a performer, there's no denying that she was a big name during their biggest time.

  39. How hard up is UFC these days? They were a HUGE fad for a couple years, but a few high profile guys have left since then, and I'd stopped paying attention. is their revenue way down?

Years ago, people were saying that boxing was done now that MMA was huge. is that still a thing?

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's kinda funny, when watching the fight on Saturday, I said to myself, "the only conceivable way a late 30's mixed martial artist could come back from a broken leg this quick is if he had some enhancement." Still didn't think it'd turn up positive.

  41. I really hope Punk gets choked into Bobbi Kristina-vile.

Also I hope she dies and they make a rugby goal out of those gap teeth

Benoit was a Horsemen when the company actually made money. The 80s Horsemen wrestled in front of 1,000 fans.
