BoD Daily Update

Undertaker Update

As of now the plan still remains for the Undertaker to stay off of TV until he makes his entrance at WrestleMania.

Sheamus Update

Sheamus will also be kept off of TV until WrestleMania. No word on what match he will be working in but it seems likely it will either be the WrestleMania Intercontinental Title Ladder Match or the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

  1. He'll get the strap again, they'll probably throw it on John Cena/Randy Orton after the great Roman Empire experiment flops as expected but they'll want to feud with someone who can still draw and it wont be long until Daniel rises to the top of that very very short list.

Why didn't Savage save Crush when he was getting Banzi Dropped into oblivion? I remember it being something vague about him not being allowed to leave the desk but really he just sat on his ass when Crush was getting...well...crushed. Nowadays the ICW would turn on Savage in a heartbeat for that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. So HHH and Bray get to build their matches at Wrestlemania by talking to themselves. Meanwhile, Brock shows up twice and doesn't say a word while his opponent cuts the most awkward/forced since Benoit was champ.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Theberzerker, #1 HUSS CHOMPIONMarch 11, 2015 at 7:15 AM

So Bryan has a Mania program finally/predictably. Even so, though, as of Thursday, there's only 2.5 weeks left until the biggest show of the year, and they didn't even have their NUMBER ONE BABYFACE IN THE COMPANY booked at all. What the serious fuck! I mean, I suppose he was being saved as backup for if Brock walked out, but that doesn't mean he couldn't have been booked in something else at the same time. It is un-fucking-fathomable what is going on with this company...all their absolutely screwy decisions make no sense anymore. I think their doctors need to check Vince's brain for syphilis or something because with shit like this, it's gone from just bad booking to full on self-destruction now.

    ReplyDelete
  38. They brought him back because they wanted Bryan fans to buy the Rumble thinking he had a chance of winning. Simple as that.

They were stupid enough to not realize it was going to royally backfire.

Although I disagree with Scott's assessment that it destroyed Reigns' heat. You can't destroy something that doesn't exist in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, Scott can post whatever he wants whenever he wants. His stuff brings in the hits too.

    ReplyDelete
  63. John Cena is the NUMBER ONE BABYFACE IN THE COMPANY, he's the biggest draw, and is going to give them the biggest number of buys/subscriptions.
Bryan is behind Taker, String, HHH, Lesnar and arguably Reigns as draw so his program is not getting the same level of promotion as the ones that are actually going to make the company money.

    ReplyDelete
  64. If I never see Orton cut a "reading cue cards" promo again, it'll be too soon.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!March 11, 2015 at 7:23 AM

I don't really see the big deal with any of it. What's the worst part of having sporadic posting? Say there's 3 posts in the span of 5 minutes: What will I do? I don't want to read one of the three posts! I guess I'll have to....I don't know....scroll away from it? OUCH! MY CARPAL TUNNEL, DAMN IT!

    ReplyDelete
  66. All they've done with Bryan since coming back is seriously damage his credibility as a main-eventer. Having him endorse Reigns after Fastlane did nothing but hurt both men, which is especially idiotic considering Rocky did it a month ago and it failed then.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Maybe this Wrestlemania will shock us all and be the best Mania of all time.

The ladder match will be an awesome ***** spotfest to rival TLC2.

Bray will send Taker into retirement

Cena and Rusev will have a crazy brawl with Cena doing the right thing and jobbing like a trooper

Sting and Triple H will have a delightfully overbooked match that exceeds all expectations.

Brock and Roman will have a smash mouth bloody brawl that makes both guys look a million bucks and Reigns end the show as champion to huge cheers

    Best Mania ever

    Who's with me?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Kind of a shame we haven't yet gotten a Cena vs. Bryan PPV main event again. I know Bryan's only been back for 2 PPVs, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon based on the current direction. That was a hell of a match -- probably Cena's last great non-Brock match, to be honest.

  69. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarMarch 11, 2015 at 7:24 AM

At least twice in the first round of the WWF Title Tournament at WrestleMania IV, the manager clearly interfered in the match WHILE THE REFEREE WAS LOOKING AT THE MANAGER. And did that wrestler get disqualified? NO! Terrible officiating! Where was Jack Tunney? Was wasn't Gorilla Monsoon outraged? Why didn't Vince fire those damn refs, or at least have Donald Trump do it?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Theberzerker, #1 HUSS CHOMPIONMarch 11, 2015 at 7:24 AM

Cena, I'll grant you that. Reigns is in their eyes, not in reality. And the rest have bigger programs, but Bryan is still a HUGE crowd favorite, so waiting that long to book him into anything, let alone a lame program, is pure batshit.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Biff Kensington Has a PosseMarch 11, 2015 at 7:24 AM

For WWE's sake, they better put him in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, because he's undoubtedly winning whatever he's in. And if they're banking on the 'Welcome Back!' reaction for fucking Sheamus, this show will be a disaster. I almost DARE them to put Sheamus over Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan. Santa Clara will be out for blood.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm not so sure. He certainly won't be back in it for more than perhaps a placeholder feud.

In WWE's eyes they've got to get through at least a Reigns run and a Rollins run first before he comes anywhere near the title again and that's without factoring in Orton (always a favourite despite what he does), Wyatt (who they are clearly high on), the NXT guys who are going to get moved up at some point and....of course....Cena.

They refused to book him on top when logic and storytelling has demanded it so I see no reason why he gets back there now (storyline wise) he has no legit reason to be.

Right, but you're still potentially splitting your audience by posting three different topics so close to each other (especially when one is a daily destination topic).

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  86. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarMarch 11, 2015 at 7:28 AM

The DQs would have significantly changed the makeup of the tournament. DiBiase should have been disqualified against Duggan and One Man Gang should have lost to Bam Bam.

    ReplyDelete
  87. For me, I dont want to review stuff everyone else has done or is doing. I'd rather stick to 80's WWF, RoH, and even the early TNA or OVW and other territory stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  88. It's just mind boggingly stupid that the WWE had two obvious main events screaming at them in the face all year and they could have run both this year (and the title could in theory have been involved in either of them) yet we have ended up with neither.

    Shield Triple Threat
    Brock vs Bryan

One of these we will probably never see now and the more Dean Ambrose is treated like a joke the less likely the other one becomes.

How can a company screw up so bad over the course of one year?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Theberzerker, #1 HUSS CHOMPIONMarch 11, 2015 at 7:28 AM

Having Hogan and Andre match up made sense and was smart at the time, but it stopped them from having Savage and Steamboat match up again, which in hindsight really hamstrung the show.

  95. They are missing out - they could have Roman, Bray, and HHH cut face to face promos with cardboard cutouts of Sting, Undertaker, and Brock. Better yet, they could have a cardboard cut out of Roman AND a cardboard cutout of Brock just standing in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  96. The plan was for Steamboat/Savage II but they switched it and at that point Steamboat realized the WWF wasnt going to push him and left.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I get him doing the B-shows, but these 97 RAWs and Nitros have already been reviewed on this site. Plus, he seems to have no consideration for when he posts stuff.

Food for thought: going by the 1990 WWF hierarchy of babyfaces, here is where we're at right now:

    1. The role of Hulk Hogan is being played by John Cena.
    2. The role of Ultimate Warrior is being played by Roman Reigns.
    3. The role of Brutus Beefcake is being played by Daniel Bryan.
    4. The role of Jake 'the Snake' Roberts is being played by Dean Ambrose.
    5. The role of the Big Bossman will be played by Sheamus.
    7. The role of Koko B. Ware is being played by Dolph Ziggler.
    8. The role of Barry O. is being played by Erick Rowan.

    ReplyDelete
  102. "How can a company screw up so bad over the course of one year?"

Because at least a year ago, Vince decided Roman Reigns was the Next Big Thing, and nothing, not even the opinions of paying customers, was going to prevent that.

  116. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarMarch 11, 2015 at 7:35 AM

It's been that way for a while, and it doesn't seem to hurt the buy rates. Look at the difference in cards from the first 10 years to the last 10 years. Multiple tag matches, every title defended, a variety of stuff going on, but on the down side, you only had one, maybe two, good matches per card.

Now, you've got multi-man matches and spot fests all over the place. It's a different industry with a different audience.

  124. True but they could have still gone with Roman and done the Triple Threat. It guarantees a good match, plays on the background of Shield and hides Roman's limitations behind the two guys he knows best who also happen to be good workers.

Still could have got to this situation from the Rumble s well:

Seth beats Brock via cash in. Lesnar in a huff beats the snot out of Bryan and eliminates him from Rumble. Reigns and Ambrose do a double finish of sorts to become double No 1 Contenders.

Yes, actually, you can "split your audience" because instead of getting some conversation going in the Savage/Crush thread, or whatever, the majority of people are just coming here.

Sure, he gets hits from the same people, but when you have several threads with more conversation it's better than one thread with conversation and a couple dead ones.

Maybe it's different for Scott, since this isn't his main revenue source, but if this was a site that relied on the traffic for revenue, it would be a bad strategy.

  130. That's unfortunate, too. WrestleMania used to be the culmination of months and even a year's worth of build-up, even the midcard and lower card matches. Now it's just matches thrown together literally a week or two before the show.

Just looking at this year's card, we have a battle royal, a multi-man ladder match, and possibly a multi-team Tag title match. It seems like it is more o an effort to throw everyone on the card, which is good for the talent I guess even though they have no idea how they'll get paid, but as a fan it stinks.

  146. I've said this before - would have been 100% worth it if he had gotten the title shot against Lesnar at the Rumble and have Reigns win the Rumble iwth a final four of RR, Cena, Rusev, and Rollins. Fans would have gotten the Bryan-Lesnar match we all wanted and Reigns would not have been put in the impossible position of trying to keep up or keep heat with DB.

    ReplyDelete
  147. "They had literally NOTHING for him to do..."

I feel like this could be applied to about a dozen wrestlers. I mean, look at something as benign now as the New Day. Weeks of vignettes hyping the group, and then after a couple wins, they fade to the background. Now that they are a completely heatless group, they score an "upset" win over the tag champs (to get into the title hunt, of course).

Sheamus has been billed for a return for a month now and there's no indication of what he'll do when he gets back. Unless he enters the ARMBAR (battle royal) -- and wins -- it's probably going to fall under the same category as Bryan.

I think Scott was right: they should have held Bryan out longer if this was the best they had for him. Let him rest up and come back after Mania to pursue the title he never lost. At least then, if Reigns was flopping as champ, they could quickly turn him heel and do a David/Goliath deal with Bryan.

All the traffic starts on the main page. When you click on a page from the main page...doesn't matter which one....and two people are in the comments, it's the same as going to a page with a ton of people conversing. Because you all came from the same place. 10,000 hits are 10,000 hits no matter where you end up. If the Savage/Crush thread gets 5 hits, and the Daily Thread gets 100 hits, it's the same as 50 people in the Savage/Crush thread and 55 in the Daily. Doesn't matter. Same revenue.

  158. So, on that E! show Fashion Police, Guliana Rancic made a joke about some girl with stupid looking dreads that was along the lines of "those dreads look like they smell like patchouli oil", to which Kathy Griffin said "or weed". Because you know, people with dreads are into that shit.

Well, because people are fucking pathetic and have ZERO problems thus they need to create some, decided that this was the worst thing ever. That clearly Guliana is a MASSIVE racist who is doing her best to resurrect Hitler. Everyone was outraged, and disgusted, and thus, she had to do my favorite thing in the whole fucking world, the apology.

Guliana said how sorry she was, and how she didn't realize how hurtful the comments were, and how this was a learning experience. Then of course we had people talking about how the apology wasn't enough, and how wrong they thought it was.

    ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

Did Guliana really learn anything? What did she learn? That people are obnoxious assholes, who have to make themselves appear to be "heroes" by screaming to the mountain top that they don't like what she did? It's all people do today. They have their "end war", or "don't abuse the elderly", or "stop human trafficking" bumper stickers, so everyone behind them know they're heroes! Heroes who don't like children being sold into slavery.

The E! Channel forced her to do that bullshit, ridiculous apology. Does the E! channel really give a shit? Absolutely not. They just care about money, and sponsors, and advertisement, so they gotta make sure EVERYONE knows they're heroes! Otherwise you have bullshit media saying how the E! Channel supports unstoppable racists like Guliana who want nothing more than to hang black people and destroy the race.

Does Guliana really think she was out of line? Of course not. Does she regret it? Of course not. She just has to do this, because she works for a stupid, pathetic network that has no balls.

I can imagine all those people who were in the streets, literally fighting for equality, being mauled by dogs, being sprayed by firehoses and beat by TRUE racists, are probably thinking "Oh, thank the good Lord I only had to go through that and not have a woman make fun of my hair on a show where the premise is making fun of people."

Not that I have any strong feelings on the subject

  165. There's a pretty easy way to fix Bryan - and I think it's something he suggested at one point. Let him win the IC title and be predominately on Smackdown, defending the "workrate" title in kick-ass matches every week. Build him back up as a submission specialist and he'll be ready for a title vs. title main event by Summerslam. He gets rebuilt, gets to be the focal point of his own show, and the IC title gets a much needed rub (I'd even think about unifying the IC/US titles but as long as Rusev is hot it should probably stay with him).

The biggest mistake they made was to have him interact with Roman Reigns as a way to get him over. They could have put him in any feud but they teased putting him in the main even slot only to do a bait and switch.

A feud with Rollins was RIGHT THERE with a built in story line: DBry treated like garbage and stripped of the title but Rollins get preferential treatment. It ties into HHH saying he was a B+ wrestler and wanted someone else as the face/future of the company. Hell, the MitB briefcase could have been on the line and it could be used as an excuse to get DBry that match against Lesnar people have been clamoring for. You could have even put Orton in the mix as a Triple Threat.
