Hamburger Ebook plug

Hey Scott,

I know this is a little off-brand for you, but you've plugged my burger-related projects before and I was hoping you would do again. Wrestling fans love burgers, right? Of course they do, everyone loves burgers. After years and years of abusing my body for my burger blog, I put all the data I've gathered into a burger tome ebook and published it on Amazon (http://bit.ly/burgercitynyc).

Thanks! Looking forward to a lot more Brock Tock (talk) in the coming year.

-Brad

I also love burgers, but here in Canada BBQ season is only 2 weeks long and we don't have any of the good burger chains, so we have to make them out of weird stuff like bison up here.

Brock of course makes his burgers out of the meat of the elephants that he clubs to death with great white sharks.

  2. Wait a minute...Saskatchewan's BBQ season is two weeks? We barbecue here in Ontario like half the year! If not more!

  3. Why? I really didn't want to see Punk v Cena part 6934

  4. That's also a valid example, and at least it was used well here. The earliest example in my fandom was when the Quebecers beat the Steiners by DQ for their first tag titles through Province of Quebec Rules, and man, was that ever a lame choice for a match, from both a kayfabe and non

    -kayfabe standpoint.

  5. Best fast food burger chain in america is jack in the box IMO. But yeah red meat is really the best when you cook it yourself. If I'm gonna pay like 60 bucks for an entree I'd prefer not to get a steak I could cook better myself.

    ReplyDelete
  6. But we got Flair/Savage instead, which was amazing (and much better than any match Hogan and Flair ever had).

    ReplyDelete
  7. This assumes it takes longer than 4 seconds to double click on a guys music track (it surely would have been digital by 97 right?)
Vince could have told the guy hit Shawn's music instead minutes before the screw job happened

  8. I can't believe there were people who didn't expect it to play out this way.

It's WWE, no one gets over.

    Hogan-Flair at WM 8
    Bret-Luger at WM 10
    Bret-Austin at WM 14

  12. Biased, but Brock/UT HIAC is my fave HIAC ever.

I don't fully get the hate for the Ambrose hologram loss. Its not unprecedented in the least. (Well the hologram specifically is) How different is it from being distracted by music playing, or Kane's ring post explosion? Or any other distraction? Is it the "supernatural" element?

And while I wasn't thrilled by the exploding monitor, I do think it was a misguided way to keep Ambrose's heat and fit his character. The dude is crazy, and was so obsessed (like only a nut case can be) with using the monitor to cave in Wyatt's head that he was even thinking of consequences or even simple shit like chord length. Not playing devil's advocate but food for thought.

  18. Well in 2000, it's obvious that Rock/HHH would have been the match but Vince wasn't confident that they could draw without Foley and Show added. Same thing with Shawn being added to the WM20 main-event.

  19. Bryan vs. Punk for the title WM30
    Bryan vs. Brock WM31

  20. Nah, I bet Vince wanted it changed to a four-way just so he could put a McMahon in every corner.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No, the HHH was completely different.

HBK was resigned to losing and wanted to lose "honorably" and made Taker pull the trigger.

HHH was different...he thought he had Taker beat. He threw everything at him and he not only was standing...he looked like he was at full steam. Last attempt with the sledge and taker just takes it away and shakes his head "No man, you're done. Your tricks, nothing you have can beat me." And realizing that he wasn't fighting a man, like he thought, he was facing a force of nature, HHH shoves him with the last of his energy and half collapses in the corner. And his last act...defiantly and accepting the truth....HHH has nothing to do but say "Nah...you....FUCK YOU!" and is finished. Very different from HBK.

In fact, 100% honest here, its one of my favorite pure storytelling matches ever. Almost mythical.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Because they had awesome chemistry and every match was great.

If they did the match they had on RAW before Wrestlemania 29 AT Wrestlemania, it would've been one of the greatest main events in the history of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Eh. Not sure how that's different from all the Cena/Orton matches that were pretty great too.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Me or him? I'm serious, why would you even wonder?

  55. The funny thing to me was that it was in relation to Sid....a really big guy. They always sort of do that. Like they always talk about how agile their fat wrestlers are. If he was wrestling Malenko and the announcers are talking about him being short, I think it's a problem.

  60. Lofty fucking claim. Where in SoCal, and how old/new are they?

    ReplyDelete
  61. One thing WCW had over WWE was the names of their ppv's. Attitude era ppv names weren't bad, but the titles they've come up with over the past few years have been awful.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, this shoot sounds a lot better than I would have imagined. All I remember of Zbyszko is his annoying voice on commentary, repeating the same phrases over and over again, and WCW treating him like this great legend even though I'd never heard of him (granted, I'm from Central Alberta and had little knowledge of WCW or AWA growing up). Then years later hearing about him being arrogant (Chris Jericho calls him out in his autobiography for putting himself over on commentary and suing him over the "Living Legend" thing, which is ludicrous on Larry's part, given how often these things are copied in wrestling).

    ReplyDelete
  63. But like he said in the first disc, this was a GREAT way to work if you had heat. If people are paying to come out and see you get the shit beat out of you regardless, there's no need to be beating your body up bumping around for no reason. They had good psychology and knew how to work the crowd, and that sold in that period. VEntura too.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Talked to a friend that I haven't spoke to in a long time recently. He's not, nor has he ever been, really into pro wrestling. Not a hater or anything, and in fact, he's going to watch it with a friend who is into it. He asked me who was going to win.

"Well, no one knows for sure, for a long time it seemed like a lock Reigns would win, but..."

"Wait, Reigns? Isn't he the bad guy? I thought you told me once a while back that the good guy always wins at Wrestlemania." Maybe I didn't mention 16, or maybe I told him that years ago and he forgot that part. Either way, very telling. And no, he wasn't being snarky about it. He's watched a few RAWs or whatever with his friend recently, a neighbor he met after moving, and that's just the impression he got I guess.

  67. C'mon Scott, us Canadians BBQ year-round. Though the length of time one can enjoy their BBQ'd vittles outdoors is spotty, it's way longer than 2 weeks regardless where in the country you live. And Saskatoon must be deprived of the awesome non-major chain burger joints that can be found across the rest of the country.

Quit perpetuating stereotypes about the True North Strong and Free!

  77. Just pointing out to people who know me from the blog who I am. If they want my real name, they can get it in the article.

What a strange thing to get angry about.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Eh, I didn't say I don't care about posting on a wrestling blog.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah, even Souled Out. The little tweak in "sold" was brilliant.

The only one I wasnt crazy about was Road Wild, but Ill take that over Payback or Breaking Point.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I didn't realize pointing out something idiotic now = being angry.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ah well, my mistake then. For the record, I'm not trying to change anyone's minds with the article. Just pointing out things to people who are on the fence. Anyone who's not excited for this year's show is well within his or her rights. Hell, I spent the better part of the past month yawning my ass off over this card. I guess there's something about Mania week that gets me hyped, even when the card isn't what it could have/should have been.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Not my favorite, but it's pretty damn good. Definitely better than a McDonald's; I'd call it the second best cheap burger. Everything is made fresh - some people love the fries but I think they're undercooked and taste too much like raw potato.

    ReplyDelete
  83. The best interview I've heard with Larry was one he did with Bryan Alvarez a few years ago. He's alot like Bryan Kendricks, in that he believes in alot of conspiracy theories, UFO's, and shit like that. And he also seemed to believe something big would happen in 2012.

  88. I liked the idea of switching commentators in and out. Tenay was good when they'd bring him for the Cruiserweights and foreign wrestlers to hype up all that stuff they'd accomplished and what they were about.

They could do that today with 3 hour Raws being a bit much to handle JBL and Cole for.

  92. I never said I wasn't being a dick. But being a dick does not = being angry.
And anything could COULD be good. Think of it like this: You go out to eat at a place and it sucks (watching wwe for the past year). You keep going and it keeps sucking. Finally you stop going (stop watching). You get a letter in the mail that this place is planning it's biggest feast of the year (Wrestlemania). Are you going because it COULD be good, even when you know its sucked for a long time?
    That, to me, is nonsensical.
