Hideo Itami Hits GTS at NXT-WWE Live (Good quality goog angle)

Holy crap that's a huge crowd, too.

Comments

  1. 4,000 fans, reportedly. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 10:35 AM

Why in the blue hell was this not available to watch on their streaming service for hardcore fans?!?!

This is EXACTLY what the fucking service is supposed to be designed for.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Why the fuck are you complaining when you can get all the Total Divas you can watch.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Punk's GTS is better.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Last night was fucking insane, unbelievable. Hot crowd, great in ring action. I knew we were in for a real treat when Itami hit the GTS. Sasha and Charlotte tore the house down. Owens and Zayn had a fantastic "WWE style" promo (since both are injured). Those guys can cut promos, man! And we got DEMON BALOR for the main event vs. Neville. Well worth the $22, would've gladly paid way more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Just imagine how big the crowd could've been if the BIG SHOW was there!

    ReplyDelete
  7. So many people rolling up to the arena gates just so they can appreciate him in person!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm still waiting for Vince to get jealous of NXT and send Kane and Big Show down there to wreck things.

    ReplyDelete
  9. If NXT house shows start outdrawing main roster house shows, I will LOL forever. So much LOLing.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Smackdown often struggles to get 6000. UH OH

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 10:49 AM

I haven't been to a show since WM19, if NXT came anywhere within 500 miles or so of me, I'd be there without a doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wish I could have watched it, but I understand the argument to why it wasn't filmed.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It'll happen eventually. Zayn, Itami, Balor, Owens and whoever will be in the ring, rocking the house in a display of wrestling athleticism rarely seen on RAW and Smackdown only to be interrupted by...

    WELLLLLLL....IT'S THE BIG SHOW...

And the crowd boos as Big Show lumbers to the ring, chokeslams all the young wrestlers and growls to the main camera.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 10:50 AM

What was the reasoning? I must have missing something.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think the 4000 could be an anomaly because its the WM crowd looking for stuff to do before Sunday. Still, NXT is kicking ass regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They are trying to get NXT over as a touring brand. If they're gonna film every show, why bother?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 10:52 AM

Fair enough, I get that for the normal shows. For a tournament leading into Mania being held basically at Mania...that seems a little silly.

This wasn't a real touring show, this was basically part of Axxess no?

    ReplyDelete
  18. This was a separate ticket. Those tournament matches were basically free.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 10:56 AM

Ahh ok, well I guess I get it.

But goddamnit I still want to see them. I'm never ever going to get NXT anywhere near me so them touring off TV does nothing for me sadly

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm sure the fact that there are 60,000 wrestling fans in town helped that number. Smackdown usually doesn't have that advantage. But still, it's awesome for NXT to see that many people that into the product.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm sure. Still, I'm just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They were just in Columbus, they're going to Philly after Mania. Who knows how big NXT will get?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 10:59 AM

I feel pretty confident saying they will never, ever come near Seattle. The company kind of hates this area.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Then stop producing wrestlers that Vince doesn't want to push.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I really wanna see an Itami/Neville match.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 11:01 AM

Haha, well yeah there's that. And there's the fact that at the last PPV they gave us (in 2011) something like only 7,000 people showed up lol

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm happy that it looks like they are going to let him use the GTS.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Don't forget rubbing his fingers together when the crowd mercilessly starts booing him outta the building.

    >The finger thing means the taxes

    ReplyDelete
  29. I will MARK THE F*** OUT IF HE HITS THE GTS TOMORROW. That would really set things off right, imo!

    ReplyDelete
  30. GTS that launches someone out of the ring to win it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That would be insane...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Do you want CM Punk chants?

because that's how you get CM Punk chants

    ReplyDelete
  33. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EIWd7HRPps

Cool Heyman Hustle video. He is definitely planting some double turn seeds.

    ReplyDelete
  34. AJ is already on the card so might as well go for broke.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What % chance out of a total of 100 do you give Lesnar, Reigns, and Rollins of walking out of Mania as champ?

    For me it's:

    Lesnar 50%
    Reigns 40%
    Rollins 10%

    ReplyDelete
  36. Not sure if it would, or not. It would definitely be a ballsy thing to do, which would get people's attention on the preshow. I say do it, especially if he can do it in a way that, for want of a better expression, "looks better" than Punk's GTS.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah exactly. If they're gonna do it anyway, why not give Itami/KENTA the spotlight for a couple seconds, especially if he steps his game up, which I have no reason to think he won't.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lesnar 60%
    Reigns 10%
    Rollins 30%

Reigns as champion is destined for failure though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Scott said HHH Thinks Hideo doesn't know how to work.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Can't wait for his appearance in the Battle Royal! He could get eliminated by Big Show OR Kane! Or maybe both! So much excitement.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Edna: Come on!

Crowd: She makes a good point.

    ReplyDelete
  42. lololololol at the tweet JR just sent out. I'm guessing it was supposed to be a DM.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I tried to tell my geometry teacher about the fabled "goog angle," but no, he wouldn't listen

    ReplyDelete
  44. That video proves otherwise. Just sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Damn it, I've TOLD him how to send me those messages

  47. Your dad sucks at using his phone.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Haha holy shit I was trying to figure out what that was, probably best explanation

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah, well how do you learn you use a phone off a 20 foot ladder?

    Yayhoo

    ReplyDelete
  50. Telling someone they are his black son.

    ReplyDelete
  51. He was talking to me

    ReplyDelete
  52. What's sad is he almost has to be talking to one of the New Day, I'm guessing Kofi.

    ReplyDelete
  53. We'll never tell

    ReplyDelete
  54. Potential finishes to Brock/Reigns in order of preference:

    1. Brock retains clean.
    2. Reigns wins the title, Rollins cashes in and wins.
    3. Reigns wins the title in a double turn.
    4. Reigns wins the title, Rollins cashes in and fails.
    5. Reigns wins the title clean.

    ReplyDelete
  55. More likely an Oklahoma football player.

  60. Ban hammer time.

    ReplyDelete
  61. As much as fans love Punk and his work, he wasn't very athletic and came off as clumsy an awful lot (GTS, the big elbow).

    ReplyDelete
  62. That's what I loved about him. Felt more real. I love the sloppiness of the MITB match.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Christ, Punk's elbow drop sucked. Doing it once as a tribute to Savage was alright, but he kept the move despite being awful at doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Holy shit Marv you're not going to believe this but... I WAS AT WRESTLEMANIA 19 ALSO!!! HOW HAVE WE NEVER DISCUSSED THIS BEFORE?!??!?!?!?!

  66. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 11:43 AM

Is this the thread we're talking over for the day? If so, here's this. I think our old buddy finally came out of the closet:

"Another reason I like this Indiana thing, and feel you guys should too, is because I want these bigots branded. I want to know what companies don't want to serve "the gays", so I know exactly who not to give my money to.

You guys have to understand, you're not being neglected, these idiots are personally carving a Swastika into their own forehead, so everyone knows what a bigot they are, and while they may bee ostracizing you from their business, they're ostracizing themselves from the rest of the world, the parts of the world with a brain, with understand, and compassion. I don't want these people mingling around us, putting up a front. I want everyone to know exactly what they are.

No, this Indiana thing is a good thing. Because when these businesses start to fail, it'll be fun to see them remove the ban, and begin begging us for our money."

    ReplyDelete
  67. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 11:44 AM

I seriously can't even tell anymore hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  68. Damnit, I wanted to ask you something last night and I forgot it... wait, I remember.

From your delightful The Great War video series, two things.

1: Seeing someone misspell the same word two different ways in one question is fun.
2: And my favorite question of the whole series: "Why didn't Germany invade France through the Netherlands instead of through Belgium?"

    ReplyDelete
  69. Another - even better - angle here :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 11:46 AM

    Wait...the Netherlands? lol

I don't know why didn't he go through Spain, fuck it. hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  71. ... I hope Indy was joking when he said he had strong opinions on the question...

... unless said opinion is "YOU ARE A MORON."

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anyone that has fantasy booked themselves into thinking there will be any outcome other than Reigns winning clean is going to be disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 11:48 AM

Yeah I think that's probably where he was going. I'd love to know the back story on this, Indy's done some limited acting so I wonder if he was hired for this or if this is a passion project for him.

Either way it's already a stunning resource for information on that war and it's not even close to 1/4 of the way to finished. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. You forgot "Cena Wins LOL"

I don't want to see anything from the show until the show. I've had to avoid set pics for days.

    ReplyDelete
  78. But the Spanish are bad, remember?

    ReplyDelete
  79. "Big Show's hands are even bigger in Japan, Maggle!!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  80. According to the report from Meltzer, Vince was backstage watching this show last night. Uh oh...

    ReplyDelete
  81. Not having a dig or anything, but would you not be better avoiding wrestling news/feature sites until after the show in that case?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yeah, there's photos of him, HHH, and others watching the show from a corner.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Of course he was. It's Wrestlemania weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I like it better when Vince is generally oblivious of NXT's existence...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:04 PM

I do, I only come here

    ReplyDelete
  86. #4 would be just as bad as #5 to me, but I agree otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  87. #4 would be worse, because not only would Reigns win, but it makes Rollins look weak as well.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Reigns 70%
    Lesnar 15%
    Rollins 15%

    ReplyDelete
  89. Sadly, I already know dumbass fans in the crowd will chant CM Punk at him if he does it on the main roster...even though Itami CREATED the damn move!

    ReplyDelete
  90. So, we really don't need to worry about Vince watching NXT.

Since Vince obviously had no clue what he was seeing, HHH simply told him that this was a prominent California-based promotion that Ted Turner was thinking about investing in. That coupled with Vince being impressed resulted in him telling HHH to "buy the whole damn bunch, pal!" and to just take it from there.

    ReplyDelete
  91. That got a legit gut laugh our of me.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Eh, not fair to call them dumbass fans in this case. Some simply don't know b/c all they watch is WWE

    ReplyDelete
  93. Probably the same fans who chanted Husky Harris at Bray Wyatt.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:08 PM

Only the smart fans, because you know they're....smart apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  95. No worries, see above

    ReplyDelete
  96. I love reading the Fox Sports facebook comments saying they aren't 5 so they dont watch WWE and that they hope Punk realizes that UFC is real.

    ReplyDelete
  97. No wonder casual fans hate smarks so much.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Kind of like the music industry, where artists are having to rely on touring to make money now. Building a wrestling company where the TV sells the live shows is pretty neat.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:12 PM

Never defend WWE title: Makes title important
US/IC titles defended a lot: Makes title important

I love that this company basically in every instance uses doublethink to make decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:13 PM

They're not totally wrong when you think about the level of detail that goes into these morality plays. Actually I bet a five-year-old wouldn't think this writing was good either...

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think they'll have to do for him on the main roster what they did in NXT - let the fans get used to him and like him before letting him hit the move. NXT fans are smart enough to know it was his move, but the main roster fans may need to be told that for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  102. BTW, did some more viewing last night.

    The microchip... has been compromised

    ReplyDelete
  103. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:18 PM

I really like to imagine that Chris Traeger is Sam Seaborn after some kind of witness relocation problem, the two characters are just too awesome

It should read "Itami hits first GTS in WWE history."

Because Punk's never connected, you see. /trolling

  109. Yeah, I actually remember it right after I hit Enter, then I edited it

So you were working with outdated information, hah

    ReplyDelete
  110. Punk sort of lazily flopped his opponent down to the vague vicinity of his knee. Itami drives the knee up. So much better.

  119. Prayers to ya brother. Hope all goes well.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Good luck... I don't know the situation but remember it is a mutual decision, not just hers. Make the decision together, don't let her dictate a bunch of terms and things you have to change in order to keep her... that will end up making you miserable and won't work in the long run anyway.

Man, the crowd just lost their minds there.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yeah. I (despite what people here might think) am the same way and it WILL backfire in the end as women sense that and take advantage. No matter how much you change she will always want more and eventually she will get tired of the fact that she can't get you exactly the way she wants and it will end up disintegrating. Not saying don't compromise but make it clear that this is who you are and she either wants "you" not the fantasy version of you that she wishes you were and that you will work with her but ultimately she has to accept you. (This applies the opposite direction as well of course)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  136. T'was all in love, man. ;)

I won't be missing WM, btw - have Monday off work and don't live with her at the moment. It's more a case of will I enjoy it, or will I be watching it through floods of tears? (And that's BEFORE #reignswinslol!)

    ReplyDelete
  137. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:37 PM

I'd assume Vince thinks people like this because it's out of the ordinary and for that very reason could never succeed as a regular product.

"It's only good because it's different than what everyone always watches. That's why people like midget matches too pal, they're different!"

    ReplyDelete
  138. I really hate Friends. These people are annoying as fuck. Why isnt Wings on?

    ReplyDelete
  139. I wonder if there was one guy there trying to get a "cm punk" chant going.

  141. Biff Kensington Has a PosseMarch 28, 2015 at 12:38 PM

Cesaro. Daniel Bryan. Seth Rollins. Cody Rhodes. Tyson Kidd. Dean Ambrose. Dolph Ziggler. Adrian Neville. Hideo Itami. Finn Bálor. Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn. Charlotte. Sasha Banks. Paige. Bayley. Now add a (hopefully) motivated Samoa Joe to the mix.

The amount of pure talent on the roster right now is amazeballs.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Probably right but I really wish someone would ask him about this. I really want to know his true thoughts on NXT, the main show, and wrestling in general

    ReplyDelete
  143. Biff Kensington Has a PosseMarch 28, 2015 at 12:38 PM

I hope Vince thinks like that, because it means NXT will stay the same. It's easier to keep a good thing going in NXT than it is to overcome Vince and Kevin Dunn on Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I guess it's true what they say - there's only so many unique stories to go around.

At least you got one of the best, if not THE best, WMs to take your mind off it a bit?

    ReplyDelete
  145. Biff Kensington Has a PosseMarch 28, 2015 at 12:39 PM

According to backstage reports a few months ago, Vince didn't like NXT all that much and thought that it was vastly overrated.

    ReplyDelete
  146. At some point, Vince is going to find a midget that's the same size as Big Show's hand, and he will combust in a cloud of jizz and pomade, leaving nothing behind but his shoes and one of his quads.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I believe they call that a "double bluff" cult. Tune into wrestlemania to find out!

    ReplyDelete
  148. I saw Samoa Joe's matches in RoH against Elgin and ACH and he is really motivated and in a lot better shape than in TNA.
In a recent interview Kevin Owens also said that he was open to fight Samoa Joe anytime so ...

    ReplyDelete
  149. Well yeah. I decided not to go talk with her for the 1,000,001 time about it because she purposely chose during Wrestlemania to want to do it, I told her no because I had been looking forward to it for so long and that was the end of it (probably not a part of the story you want to hear right now) and then Wrestlemania was amazing so I always felt like that was a sign I did the right thing.

    ReplyDelete
  150. My body... is ready

    ReplyDelete

  154. TBH buddy, I'm fairly resigned to the fact it's not going to go the way I want to. I feel like a dog in the car who is slowly dawning that the promised park is *that way* and we've just taken the turn-off towards the vet...

Should be a fun night to get smashed and nerd out pre-Mania

  158. He can live inside Big E's singlet, papoose-style, and be called "Sweatrag!"

Then, a month later, the Primetime Players debut their own black midget, called "Washcloth" and it's a battle for the ages, Maggle.

Solomonster brought out a great point on his last podcast: NXT is the tits, and most people on here know it. But it's kind of interesting to look at the long-term purpose for Triple H: you could almost make the case that he's trying to use NXT to sap the independents of their top talent in order to destroy them. It's interesting food for thought.

On another train of thought, Jim Ross was at the NXT show last night. Dude loves wrestling; can't imagine why he isn't still working with the WWE...

    ReplyDelete
  161. There was a "better than Wrestlemania" chant during the main event, so I can only imagine Vince reaction when hearing that

    ReplyDelete
  162. Ah I thought you meant Punk. That's less interesting.

  163. I like to think that every morning, Gunter pissed into their coffee pot in anticipation of their arrival to take up the only decent seating in the entire place and block out all other customers for hours.

  164. What is Wrestlemania Today?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:45 PM

I said a few days ago, if they're going to sap all the guys they should just straight up buy the promotion and change the NXT name....nothing will ever be fucking cooler than the name "Ring of Honor"

  166. I think Lana was confirmed to be appearing tomorrow, too. USA bikini, baby!

Kind of a look at Axxess, yesterday Flair was kind of shitty on it talking about how Sting sort of wants to do his match and get in the hall and be done lol

They threw to a few taped matches and stuff too I think

    ReplyDelete
  169. But of course they had to have him be obsessed with Rachel like everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  170. kinda reminds me of KotR 95 when the crowd starts chanting E-C-W.

    ReplyDelete
  171. LOL that is shitty but its probably true.

    ReplyDelete
  172. He kept alluding to Sting being in TNA too lol

    ReplyDelete
  173. Yeah, but that was only because he knew someone in the German black market who would pay big bucks for her liver and all he needed was to get her alone... just once...

    ReplyDelete
  174. Alas, poor NXT, we hardly knew

    ReplyDelete
  175. I don't think WWE has any interest in destroying the independents. Them bringing in Kevin Steen and company isn't any different than them bringing in Daniel Bryan a few years ago.

Yeah it was a decent little show for Mania weekend

  177. Say what you like about JR, he was a master at making the most boring of main events sound like an epic that folk would be talking about for years.

His reaction to Foley going through the table from the cell makes the moment almost as much as Foley's actual impact does, imo. Can you imagine that moment being called by Cole and JBL? They'd probably be too busy arguing over where Carmen Sandiago was last seen to even talk about it.

  178. Mister CrestleManiaMarch 28, 2015 at 12:50 PM

I can't imagine Cole and JR but I can imagine Joe Buck calling it...

In my fanboy heart, I wish they'd buy Ring of Honor and turn it into a second developmental league, so that you could cycle out some guys in NXT who don't have a place on the main roster yet to keep from having them do nothing, and bring some main roster guys down who have no direction on the main shows. Because at the end of the day, a Survivor Series-style show in November pitting NXT v. ROH teams would make me giddy.

I don't see why they couldn't run a Florida and California promotion like that. Fuck it, go college sports style and you have a western and eastern division fighting each other for those top spots "in the pro's"

    ReplyDelete
  182. What about Mike and Mike? "Mick Foley has just been thrown off the Subway fresh take cage. When you're hungry get a 6" sub at Subway."

  183. Chalk that up to something else John Cena will ruin.

  184. Biff Kensington Has a PosseMarch 28, 2015 at 12:53 PM

I advocated for that a few months back in a slightly different guise. The expenses be damned, create developmental leagues in Memphis and another traditional wrestling hotbed (Chicago, Boston, maybe even Toronto) and cycle people through all three, getting a chance to work for different crowds and recreate the old territorial days. It isn't without precedence, because in the early 2000s the WWE used to contract out to a couple of different developmental promotions (Ohio Valley, Heartland, FCW, etc.)

Francesca: "So Foley went off the cage hmmk, hmmmk so we went off the cage....alright. I don't see why you go off a cage hmmk but what do I know, what do I know right? I don't get the big bucks hmmmk."

You can't ruin Lana. You just can't.

    ReplyDelete
  187. They could expand and split NXT into 'territories' - maybe a bit wider in area than the old ones. So you have NXT Pacific, NXT Atlantic, NXT Canada and maybe even NXT Europe.

Make it like the brand extension - they're all separate, and focus on drawing in new talent from their respective areas, then every four months, there's a big Takeover PPV which features cross-promotional fights for the titles, which can only be held in one division between PPVs...
