BoD Daily Update

Daniel Bryan Update

According to Dave Meltzer, Bryan is "not doing good" and has been hidden in tag matches and backstage segments as a result. Meltzer also stated he would not be shocked if Bryan dropped the IC Title soon due to being in rough shape.

News on Current NXT Stars

There was talk that Finn Balor would be coming to the main roster shortly, before getting a title reign as the NXT Champion. It has also been reported that Kevin Owens is expected to have a lengthy title reign in NXT and not expected to drop the tile anytime soon.

Problems Between Destination America and TNA?

It has been reported that Destination America has been calling a lot of the shots in TNA with the idea that they are paying for the programming. The network also wants all of the TV shows taped in America as they reportedly didnt like the idea of the show being taped in the UK.

Paige Update

There is a chance that last night's angle on RAW with Naomi attacking Paige was designed to write Paige off of television as she is set to film the WWE Studios movie "Santa's Little Helper" later this month.

  1. Well, someone last night commented that Bryan might be injured. Guess so. Shame. Maybe he is pretty much done.

  3. Great job, WWE! Take your most popular Diva off the road and TV -- where she can possibly make the company money -- and stick her in some shitty Christmas movie that won't make the company anything.

    ReplyDelete
  4. For his own health, Bryan should hang it up.

  5. Possible people TNA can sign to appease Destination America:

    Mr. USA Tony Atlas
    All-American Lex Luger
    Native American Tatanka

  6. I'd be absolutely gutted if Bryan had to retire, but I'd much rather he did than seriously and permanently injure himself.

    ReplyDelete
  7. First of TNA gets what they deserve for being almost 100% reliant on TV money to keep their non talent paying company afloat.....however.....the awesomely stupid ....wait we are destination America....we can't have you filming in the UK.....executive thought process is amazing.

(I'm not looking up DA's leadership. And considering TNA, the joke's better that way.)

  22. If this is neck related which it sounds like it...Bryan needs to walk away and get actual sugically fixed or whatever he didn't do in hopes of coming back sooner. It's not like the company is resting on his shoulders or he is losing out on his run on top. He is just a guy in the mid card with Ziggler BNB and so on who happens to move more Merch than the rest of those guys.

  25. Call me crazy, but one of the reasons why WWE didn't want to run with Bryan for WrestleMania 31 is because it isn't clear if he's 100% yet. Nobody wants to see him win the title again and then have to go on the shelf for months because of wear and tear.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I've seen quotes of Bryan saying he wouldn't tone down his style. Maybe it's time for him to reconsider that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thankfully they put him in a ladder match to save his body.

  34. E-C-DUB! E-C-DUB!

    ReplyDelete
  35. True but they aren't using him as that. sadly Bryan can get yanked from TV right now and it really won't make much difference

    ReplyDelete
  36. I really feel for Bryan. He clearly loves the business and wrestling so much and just wants to go out there and entertain. He seems like such a good guy and has tried hard to get where he's gotten.

Fortunately, he has a really great career to look back on that all culminated in pretty much making WrestleMania his show last year. If I had to retire at this point with all that behind me? I'd be happy. Hell, I'd retire while I could and offer to train down in NXT.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bryan was in the Rumble to get his fans to buy the Network/PPV. From a creative standpoint, he shouldn't have even been in it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. No no no. That's not loud enough. It's gotta be EVERYTHING IS FINE!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I will say that I don't recall him taking any completely absurd bumps in that match.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well hell...Bryan needs to get out before he gets really hurt. Silly of him to do the "almost fall off the top rope" spot with Zoidberg a couple weeks back if his grip/strength is still hosed

    ReplyDelete
  42. Cena vs Orton,one more timeApril 14, 2015 at 9:23 AM

    ............zoidberg??????

    ReplyDelete
  43. It may be a situation, as with Edge, where Vince has to tell him he's not wrestling any more.

    ReplyDelete
  44. On the plus side, if/when Angle dies in the ring they can have an American Hero funeral for him.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, neck injuries are nothing to mess with. If they weren't going to give him the top spot when he returned, I would have loved to just see him sit it out for a while longer.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sucks to hear about Bryan still hurting badly. I love him as a performer but its getting clearer each day that he probably never should have returned from that injury.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I just got back from my Raw is London trip! Did get a feeling when Bryan didn't come out that he was probably hurt. Really enjoyed the show. Cena/Barrett was great, as was Ziggler/Neville. Reigns got massive boos coming out, but the crowd was pretty easy to win over, all it seems to take is the word "bitch" and you're a super babyface. Seth Rollins was awesome all night. We tried to buy Rollins shirts but they'd already sold out an hour before the show. Many stalls were selling literally nothing but Cena merchandise, just to add a further bit of anecdotal evidence to how rigged the "Cena sells the most merch" game is.

Anyhow, apart from a bit of a lag in the 2nd/3rd hour part where all the short matches took place, the show was great fun from start to finish. Would definitely go to the next taping. I've really enjoyed the last two Raw's without Steph and Hunter draining the life out of the shows. Shame it can't last, but I've really enjoyed WWE since Mania.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sheamus and his goofy beard

    ReplyDelete
  49. It helped that Reigns cut a legit great promo. I was shocked.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think I just came to the realization that Daniel Bryan is my favorite wrestler.

Because you know you love a wrestler when you'd rather see him enjoy his family and get to hold his future kids than keep competing just to see another four-snowflake classic.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Why do I have the impression that the owner of Destination America is basically the Rich Texan from the Simpsons?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Need a new face of the company?

    Why not Zoidberg?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Theberzerker, #1 HUSS CHOMPIONApril 14, 2015 at 9:25 AM

Looks like Bryan's miracle holistic cure couldn't hold out. But, let's try to be positive about it...now he definitely knows exactly what made his strength in that arm disappear, and if he needs more surgery, then this time it should (SHOULD) be the proper fix.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm surprised they have not tried to bring Hogan back

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's so bad. Especially since their ideas are so *dumb*. Bonnie Hammer might love Authority figures, but at least that's *some* kind of wrestling knowledge. This "Angle should be champ because America" and "All tapings should be in America because America" stuff is so embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
  56. They didn't like 'the idea' of it, while 'the reality' is that they get their best response in the UK.

    ReplyDelete
  57. It was crazy, he totally won the crowd round! I haven't watched it back yet, but the cheers were as deafening as the boos. He even got applause when he was stretchered out after the car spot!

    ReplyDelete
  58. So maybe the wwe aren't complete idiot for not putting Bryan over in the main event at wm? Maybe they know more than you? Ya think?

    ReplyDelete
  59. If Bryan is really hurt, have someone you want to elevate (Bray? Barrett? Rusev?) beat him for the belt and lay him out. Give him until the Rumble to see if he's going to be able to rebound and get his mojo back.

    ReplyDelete
  60. So I guess we should call it "Destination 'Murica."

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'd rather he didn't come back if he needs another neck surgery. One and done with that risk, surely?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, I was opposed to it for the same reason- they could've done a multi-person train wreck elsewhere and let Bryan/Ziggler have a one-on-one classic for the IC title. But the way Bryan worked that ladder match, a high-impact, 15-20 minute singles match might have been even worse if he was so determined to not tone down his style.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Can't they just say it's from America? Or don't point out where it's taped? Just CGI the teeth of the fans in the front row and nobody will know.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Well, when you put your hope in Carson Palmer's doctor, bad things are bound to happen......minutes after you have any type of success

    ReplyDelete
  65. Still doesn't explain Reigns' shitty booking.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Maybe the fans were applauding the stellar work of the EMTs?

    ReplyDelete
  67. If he needs another surgery this soon, he should probably just hang it up. I don't want to have to avoid going back and watching his matches in the future because of all the sad feelings it brings up about his death/paralysis.

    ReplyDelete
  68. When you have to explain your joke, it's not a good joke.

    ReplyDelete
  69. So Paige is playing a snowflake then?

    ReplyDelete
  70. don't to lump "us" together with an obvious doofus like the emailer.

    ReplyDelete
  71. They shouldn't have allowed him to come back in the first place if they weren't certain.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I wouldn't use the term embarrassing. They are a terribly run company that has no power so they gave up all power to a tv station that's biggest hits are"reality show" about tracking down fake ghosts and fake monsters. Non wrestling people saying hey make the most famous guy who is all Merica and has medals is about the least embarrassing thing that network does.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Nah, still stupid. We're watching glorified horse racing. Ride the best you have, as long as you can, then shoot it at the end

    ReplyDelete
  74. How are they going to know if they don't let him try?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Its amazing how good someone can be when they let them be themselves. He did fantastic last night.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I wonder if Destination America knows that much of TNA's fanbase is overseas. And that TNA is planning on touring foreign countries later this year.

    ReplyDelete
  77. slapdabass: "If Bryan is really hurt, have someone you want to elevate (Bray? Barrett? Rusev?) beat him for the belt and lay him out."

WWE: "And NEWWWW Intercontinental Champion...The Big Show!"

    ReplyDelete
  78. Why, it's almost as if he would get better over time with more practice and experience!

    ReplyDelete
  79. The booking of Reigns wasn't really that shitty over the last few weeks (starting with the awesome brawl with Bryan on the Raw before Fast Lane). The problem was they were starting from such a deficit because no one wanted to see him in that spot to begin with. I'd say the way they booked the Reigns/Lesnar buildup was actually quite good because they managed to create a big fight, worth-of-WM-main-event feel despite the fact that the fans weren't behind the supposed top babyface.

    ReplyDelete
  80. .....perhaps....but to be safe they should probably not let him be himself and force him to be super charismatic and funny like his relative The Rock correct?

    ReplyDelete
  81. HE'S RELATED TO THE ROCK?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Bring him back after the Rumble. Don't give people the impression that there was a chance of him going over Reigns. Without that, Bryan can come back without so much expectation and Reigns might have a chance of getting over.

    ReplyDelete
  83. which is fine. at least you are not coming up with some bs explaination why Cena's current role is a bad booking idea etc.

    ReplyDelete
  84. *old man angrily punches questions into his computer to nobody in particular*

    ReplyDelete
  85. Eh, wasn't going for humor. Been trying to curb gratuitous swearing of late and "red-headed asshole" seemed excessive

    ReplyDelete
  86. He was cleared by doctors. He wanted to come back. You don't know how an injury like that will always respond until you actually get out there and do it.

There's being certain a guy is medically cleared, and there's being certain he'll hold up in the long term. If he's cleared and wants to return, you let him. Hedging their bets about whether or not he'd hold up and not putting him in the main event was probably smart. They got the boost of the ultra-popular guy returning without the risk of putting the entire promotion on his shoulders again.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Insert joke about sliding down Paige's chimney here.

    ReplyDelete
  88. You don't have to defend yourself to *him*, Blue

    ReplyDelete
  89. There is a chance that last night's angle on RAW with Naomi attacking Paige was designed to write Paige off of television

I hate when dumb-ass marks write in stuff that start with "THIS BOOKING MAKES NO SENSE" and then finish with "WHAT DO U THINK WILL HAPPEN?" In this day in age, fans are so eager to know the end game that they mistake that for bad booking. They're making the U.S. Title mean something. Shut the fuck up.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Is this some shocking sexual term I'm not aware of?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Is there a gofundme page to get Bryan some Z-packs so we can get him out their defending his glorious IC belt?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Theberzerker, #1 HUSS CHOMPIONApril 14, 2015 at 9:34 AM

The way he described it, the problem isn't his neck anymore but rather he fucked up his arm when lifting something too soon after the surgery. Either that or the problem is the nerve itself, not the bone around it. I'm probably dead wrong, but it sounded as if he was happy b/c he believes in holistic cures, and that there's no talk of extreme neck fusion surgery here.

    ReplyDelete
  97. CruelConnectionNumber2April 14, 2015 at 9:34 AM

Triple H wrestles once a year.

    ReplyDelete
  98. You're preaching to the choir on that one. I've never been anti-Reigns, personally. Just against how they were booking him and the awful promos they were writing for him. Either he's getting more leeway to be himself or someone's figured out what kind of character he should be and has found a sweet spot that works.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I didn't know you were old.

    ReplyDelete
  102. It should also go without saying that "How bout it?" should be added to each joke.

    ReplyDelete
  103. No it's because SHE'S PALE! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Oh yeah BNB hit all the moves. He hit Cena with the Bullhammer AND Wasteland and he still couldn't keep him down!

    ReplyDelete
  105. The mark that wrote this probably also thought that Neville was being buried last week for being able to hang with the WWE World Champion in a competitive match.

Seriously, Cena is doing his best work since his rapper gimmick, elevating a formerly useless title and making dead end mid-carders look like they're in his league and yet it's still considered "LOL CENA BURIES ALL"?

Some people just refuse to be pleased.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I do agree that they shouldn't have had Barrett lose since he's in a program with someone else, but he's pretty much a loser anyway at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I realise I'm in the minority but I never cared for either Dark Knight story, more of a fan of pulpy detective Batman than gritty dark Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Yeah, you might as well lump him in the same league as Adam Rose and Zack Ryder. And besides, it's not like he's beating Bryan at the PPV so him losing to Cena while challenging for the only belt he's ever had for the umpteenth time is not worth getting mad over.

    ReplyDelete
  109. How bad did business have to be for that to even be a thought?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Vintage hypocrisy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Marc Mero was a guy I liked in WCW, but hated in the WWF.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I'm with that frame of mind. I don't mind Cena winning but this "WWE main event" style match where everyone kicks out of each other's finishers doesn't work for me

    ReplyDelete
  113. What the WWF was trying to do was sway the NWA-ingrained audience to their side. Jim Crockett Promotions used to run Florence regularly and it was still WCW country in 1996.

    ReplyDelete
  114. This guy gets it! They're telling stories. Nobody jumps to the end of a book to decide if the rest of the book is worth reading.
Except Brock Lesnar. Seriously, fuck that guy.

    ReplyDelete
  115. "So by default Cena already beat D-Bry's top competition, a subtle nod that Cena is above Bryan"

Are subtle nods really needed to imply that one of WWE's top 5 draws of all-time is above a cruiserweight?

    ReplyDelete
  116. you are wrong. nets just pretended to be interested to scare dolan into offering half his team. the nets were just doing it to hurt the knicks more

    ReplyDelete
  117. These "competitive" matches aren't elevating anyone anyway. My wife watched RAW with me last week and was like "It's taking Cena more than two minutes to beat Cody Rhodes?"

    ReplyDelete
  118. the 97 team was maybe the strongest knicks team of the decade. they were stacked and rolling until the fight w miami that resulted in all the suspensions and allowed the heat to comeback from down 3-1

    ReplyDelete
  119. I don't get how its a secret, that rich and connected people run the world, to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  122. He could've sign a shorter deal, with Chicago. Then made up the difference in 2017. He wanted to stay in NY

    ReplyDelete
  123. I was watching Great American Bash '08 on the Network and the Nassau Coliseum is so small that the pyro smokes out the arena for the first three matches where everything is basically invisible. I don't see it being a very practical venue at its age and decrepit state.

    ReplyDelete
  124. If John Cena doing springboard stunners at this point in his career doesn't entertain you then you should probably be watching something else.

    ReplyDelete
  125. That team still probably loses to the bulls in the next round though (as much as I hate to admit it). But yeah, that series was bogus and the heat we're gifted wrapped a series (much like the finals they won in 2006). I think the 93 team that lost to Chicago in the EC finals was by far the best Knicks team of the 90s

    ReplyDelete
  126. Such a lazy fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  127. "after taking and kicking out of Barrett's finisher."

Hmm Barrett also kicked out of an AA in the middle of the ring so ...

    ReplyDelete
  128. That MSG Raw in 2009 where they did that has such a sexy looking stage. I wish they'd use it for every Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Fish sticks supposedly have an out if Barclays Center is sold, but with capacity being lowered to 12,000, they can never move back to Nassau

    ReplyDelete
  130. Do NHL games sell more than 12k tickets outside of the playoffs? The Red Wings are incredibly popular here and due to the expense of going and the oversized capacity of the Joe Louis Arena they very rarely sell out in the regular season. Also, a putrid toilet of an arena that the WWE seems intent on coming to; although we don't have a much better alternative since the Palace out in the suburbs is old too; albeit much cleaner and in a better area.

    ReplyDelete
  131. At least it's nice to see a champ not job in a non-title match.

    ReplyDelete
  132. "So by default Cena already beat D-Bry's top competition, a subtle nod that Cena is above Bryan."

Um, that would only be true if Barrett were to win back the IC Championship, which has yet to happen. And even then, who cares. HHH beat Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania one year before Lesnar ended the Streak. A cynical-enough individual could look at that and say "Look, HHH put himself above Undertaker by beating the guy that Taker couldn't beat a year later", but of course the problem with that logic would be that HHH himself has lost to Taker at Wrestlemania three times before, so no.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Nah you know you are the problem

    ReplyDelete
  134. yeah TNA is pretty bad

    ReplyDelete
  135. That dude is the living caricature of an IWC "fan"

    ReplyDelete
  136. I'm not sure if Neville is going to be next in line or not. If he is, there's no shame in losing to John Cena (whether the IWC wants to admit it or not). Neville has had good matches with the WHC and a perinnial contender in Ziggler, while beating the guys he should be beating. I think he's being booked just fine for now. Remember, he's still considered an NXT Rookie.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Seems the only logical outcome.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Really good and quick recap with pretty good insight. I hope you will keep this every week

    ReplyDelete
  139. Bryan also beat Orton a couple of times during their big on-and-off feud, while Cena lost to Orton at two PPVs in a row around the same time. Just look at that subtle nod to Bryan being above Cena!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Could be that they need stands just for him due to massive demand. Road demand = approximate amount of merchandise you bring using a formula based on past trending and current sales that I won't profess to knowing.

  145. Did Matt Perri send this e-mail ?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Saw that as far as last night. I e-mailed him and told him it was a better recap. So, thanks.

  147. cena beating the entire undercard and I feel sorry for the suckers who think its going to end with him putting over some new guy. This is going to last a while

    ReplyDelete
  148. lol mid carders being in his league alright guys who are actually good wrestlers being given a chance to be competitive what a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  149. There was a shit-ton of Reigns and Macho Man merch when it came to San Jose. I agree with Edwards: WWE knows where the attraction is to their stars.

    ReplyDelete
  150. someone actually gets why its stupid and theres no drama in these matches no one buys these guys are beating cena and they're being proven right every time. This isn't helping anyone but make cena marks cry about how everyone is unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  151. no one buys cena is losing to any of these guys and these aren't some low end jobbers hes beating In "competitive" matches including freaking ambrose which is laughable on its own since he was main eventing ppvs a few months a couple of months ago and is relegated to this crap.

I care if guys who deserve better are being made to be jobbers its why wwe is always stuck in neutral and having no one new in the top of the card. Its not enoyable its laughable

  152. Just so I'm clear, we want the midcard titles to be important again, but we don't want the guy holding the belt to go over and look strong?

    ReplyDelete
  153. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    ReplyDelete
  154. That move was so weird in that I thought it was a botch the first time I saw it, but the replay actually made it look better.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I don't think that its a subtle nod that Cena is above Bryan. There is nothing subtle about it, or even really questionable. Its like those subtle nods that the Rock was above Rikishi during the attitude era.

    ReplyDelete
  156. How dare he beat Cody Rhodes!!!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Yes, we acknowledged this. Use the shift key, next time!

    ReplyDelete
  158. He probably wanted a long term deal with the security. I also think he let Phil Jackson seduce him into staying.

    ReplyDelete
  159. My issue is more that there's no rhyme or reason behind it. Like Scott said, Barrett was jobbing to everybody just a couple weeks ago. Am I to believe R-Truth can beat him clean in a matter of minutes, but John Cena struggles to put him away with his finisher? Likewise with Stardust. He loses clean to Mizdow the week before going toe-to-toe with Cena.

It isn't Cena's fault Cody is doing a clown gimmick and has no heat.

Barrett was caught off guard by Truth because it was non-title and he took him lightly. Even if he lost, he wasn't losing the title. He didn't prepare. Barrett had trained extra hard all week after confirming with the booker that he would be challenging Cena in London for the title. He had faced Cena numerous times on PPV and knew his strengths, and was Cena's boss in the Nexus and trained with him.

  162. That's a REALLY good point, and something that is concerning. If they spend all this time building the title up, and making it a big deal when someone beats Cena, great. But it does all get flushed if they immediately start jobbing out the US/IC title holders again on weekly television. Right now, Cena's doing great on this run. It's the aftermath of the run that might be a problem, considering WWE creative.

  163. Now THAT would cause a smark revolt.

    ReplyDelete
  164. No it was really shitty. Raw is really an awful show to watch

    ReplyDelete
  165. I miss the days where a rival promotion champion could return standing at the top of the arena, and the current champion loses to a guy by a roll up because he is in shock the rival has been allowed into the building.

    ReplyDelete
  166. In a 1 v. 2 match? Against the tag champs? Yeah I think it qualifies. If the tag champs can't beat one guy, fluke or not, why should buy them as tag team champions?

    ReplyDelete
  167. I've had it happen a few times on there as well, or at least wouldn't index the matches. Seems to be hit and miss

    ReplyDelete
  168. Giving the Raw reviewer shit is a great tradition from the 90's. Sorry for the late reply.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Doesn't really serve any purpose if every match is like that.

    ReplyDelete
  170. It would be fine if the match was compelling, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Neville really isn't that bad of a mic worker.

He's no worse than Bret Hart or the Undertaker.

    ReplyDelete
  172. It will end just like his last us title. Cena will be a good champ and take on all comers (something they wouldnt let anyone else do), then he will get cheated out of it by someone and that person will be booked like a chump like every us champ was for years before cena.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I watched the show. It mostly sucked. Neville/Ziggler was the high point for me.

It's nice to see a singles title defended at all. It's happened I think 4 times in the last 8 months with the WWE title.

  175. Rumor has it the Icelanders are moving their AHL affiliate by ferry to The Old Barn.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I thought I heard the Wings are moving into a new arena pretty soon

  177. JERRAH! JERRAH! JERRAH!

    ReplyDelete
  178. NOONE beats Wade Barrett 19 times in a row!

    ReplyDelete
  179. Jerry Jones has won three Super Bowls. Yes, he should've won more, but I am hesitant to call a guy whose team has won 3 championships a colossal fuck-up.

    ReplyDelete
  180. They're building a new Olympia across town. It looks quite lavish and I'm questioning how it's going to happen in a city with no tax base.

    ReplyDelete
  181. For Barrett, a loss in a competitive match against Cena is a step up from losing to midcard guys over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Melo never wanted to go to brooklyn. I dont see where you acknowledged that your comment is incorrect.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Almost 20 years. Dolan's getting ripped why not JERRAH! JERRAH! JERRAH!

    ReplyDelete
  184. That's a lot of PIZZA! PIZZA!s

    ReplyDelete
  185. Because Dolan has owned the Knicks for 15 and made the playoffs once, no championships.
