Daniel Bryan Update
Bryan, who was sent home for precautionary reasons from the European tour, is scheduled to get his injuries checked up when he returns home. It was also reported that the original plan for this past RAW was to have Bryan face John Cena, which was switched to Cena vs. Barrett instead. It is still unclear whether or not Bryan will be able to wrestle at the "Extreme Rules" show.

Update on Naomi's Heel Turn
Naomi spot where she turned on Paige was originally planned for AJ Lee, who was going to turn on Paige in a similar situation.

Tamina Snuka Update
Snuka was brought to television last week and was originally scheduled for the European tour but that ended up not happening for unknown reasons.

Another news article about ICW (Scotland's biggest indie promotion) for anyone interested:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/11520003/Are-you-ready-for-Insane-Championship-Wrestling-Scotlands-answer-to-WWE.html
Also, was Bryan due to be jobbed out to Cena in his US Title open challenge?
ReplyDeleteThat's beyond moronic, if so.
They were in Nottingham on Saturday, on the same day as WWE. Not sure how they did.
ReplyDeleteI'd imagine Bryan wouldn't be going over for the title on a random Raw. I agree, using Bryan in that spot doesn't benefit Cena or Bryan, so besides putting on a good match it's a terrible idea.
ReplyDeleteDayum, Cena vs Bryan would have been a hell of a match to see live. Cena/barrett was pretty great though
ReplyDeleteI've been watching a few of the Attitude Era Raws that are up now...this is pretty much forgotten today since it was used on a nothing midcard angle with D-Lo, but the "Terri has a miscarriage" deal is one of the most tasteless angles they've ever run. Russo at his worst.
ReplyDeleteWhich is exactly the bullshit they do all the time, so Bryan being banged up actually wound up having positive effects.
ReplyDeleteTamina Snuka Update:
ReplyDeleteTamina Snuka continues to be Jimmy Snuka's daughter.
So Naomi, one of two faces left in the Divas division, turns heel on the other face, who is leaving to film a movie. And the champion is a heel. Got it.
ReplyDeleteNot trying to threadjack, but this stuff with Impact is mind-boggling:
ReplyDelete"Another significant problem within TNA right now is Destination
America. The network is reportedly calling a lot of the shots in TNA
these days with the idea that they are paying TNA and running so many
hours of their programming.
Destination America officials
reportedly do not like TNA Impact Wrestling being taped from the UK.
They do not know the pro wrestling business at all but they didn't like
the idea of TV taped outside of America airing on their Destination
America channel. Destination America may not have a problem with TNA
running a yearly tour overseas but they have made it clear they want
Impact taped in the US most of the time."
So apparently you CAN hit home runs in Bottom of the 9th on N64. I hit two last night with
ReplyDeletePaul O'Neill playing as the Yankees.
Here's a random question to mull over: What happened to Roderick McMahon III?
ReplyDeleteVince McMahon SNRs first son. I don't think he's ever been referenced as existing in any of the official DVDs talking about the McMahon family.
They must be either bringing up a NXT diva or bringing back an injured superstar, because they desperately need faces. At the moment they have Paige & Summer Rae.
ReplyDeleteSolomon Crowe (and his old name, Sami Callahan) looks and sounds like a post-apocalyptic near future witch doctor. Figures WWE would think that's what a "hacker" would look like.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Jeff Hardy can give Destination America management a painting to smooth things over.
ReplyDeleteSo, Tamina Snuka....any relation to Superfly Jimmy Snuka?
ReplyDeleteHey, I said that last night! Great minds!
ReplyDeleteYou can't threadjack a Daily Thread.
ReplyDeleteTNA's troubles/incompetence/failings/whatever wasn't listed as part of the news update because it doesn't count as "news" anymore
I think he is her Uncle or something.
ReplyDeleteIs he even a hacker anymore? Like, I know it's gonna be hard to sell that character during a match, but it seems like they've totally phased that out except for his old-school modem soundbyte during his entrance.
ReplyDeleteHe suffered from really bad allergies and sneezed all the time, so Vince disowned him.
ReplyDeleteLong story short: Destination America was expecting TNA to bring a million viewers to the show despite being in half the homes as Spike.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but it's like an old joke - sometimes, at some point, you can't help laughing over it.
ReplyDeleteSo they were going to job Bryan out to Cena for no reason? How does that build up the intercontinental title at all?
ReplyDeleteSo, if he his a hacker, the smartest thing he could do would be to hack into the computer that plays entrance music and 5 minutes into his matches, have it randomly play someone's music so his opponent gets distracted and he just rolls them up for the pin. He could literally never lose.
ReplyDelete"This is bad comedy".
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't say lose to Cena. Going to a double pinfall would make sense as they are meant to at an equal spot on the card.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't Toots Mondt in the WWE hall of fame?
ReplyDeleteHow soon after the Royal Rumble 1998, did they discover the severity of HBKs back injury?
ReplyDeleteLies, lies and more lies! So many lies and lies! Stop lying!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't even aware that there was a 3rd child.
ReplyDeleteI want to say he went off to work in the steel industry in the southeast US. Not sure why, but that's what's coming to me.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he ever gets recognized in DVDs or whatever because he's not related to the business at all and I don't think he and Vince were ever that close.
Lord Alfred Hayes probably.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry they'll just have Alicia Fox pull off one of her schizophrenic face-heel turns.
ReplyDeleteLies.
ReplyDeleteSheamus/Barrett/Rusev interference with a Sportz Entertainment Finish sounds like an easy way to get out of that.
ReplyDeleteHe was still promoted for that No way Out tag match, but maybe they never had any intention of featuring him in it
ReplyDeleteThere should be an NXT guy with an earplugs gimmick.
ReplyDeleteI read that he was fine afterwards. Then a couple days later he went to sleep and when he was like paralyzed. In trying to think which book I read that in though.
ReplyDeleteLike Ronnie Garvin's "Hammer Jammer."
ReplyDeleteBecause he was a backstage guy. The same reason that most classic promoters haven't been inducted, they really only focus on guys in front of the curtain. If you had a decent role in front of the curtain as well as being influential behind the scenes then you're in but without the front of curtain work it's very rare.
ReplyDeleteEven now people make jokes over James Dudley being inducted.
They can always pull Layla out from mothballs.
ReplyDeleteI dont know but Curtis Axel is no way shape or form related to Mr. Perfect according to the WWE.
ReplyDeleteA Sheamus/Barrett/Rusev stable of big bruisers sounds like a nice alliance.
ReplyDeleteThat would have been the way to go...but come on, you know they would have made him pin Bryan. Hell, he never got his win back from Summerslam '13!
ReplyDeleteI thought he was now, Curtis being a reference to Kurt and all that.
ReplyDeleteThe Axis of Power.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot "This match has now been turned into a tag team match.....holler holler."
ReplyDeleteYour new main event Cena, Bryan & Ziggler against Sheamus, Barrett & Rusev. the winning team gets to decide the stipulations for their respective matches at Extreme Rules.
ReplyDeleteToo bad Awesome Kong isn't with the company. She would've been an awesome fit
ReplyDeleteVince Russo actually had WWF put him on tv in 98 in character as Vic Venom to "promote" the WWF magazines. I'm amazed he didn't write himself into the shows itself.
ReplyDeleteBryan vs. Sheamus in a 2/3 Falls 30 second time limit
ReplyDeleteSo basically, they were going to have AJ and Paige feud again while Nikki keeps the title and does nothing with it. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteHands the size of dinne-
ReplyDeleteOh, wait, meme infringement.
They'll keep the title on her even longer now.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte and/or Bayley will be on their way up.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair Nikki is over and has improved in the ring massively over the last year or so.
ReplyDeleteYep, they're going to have her pass AJ's reign.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the Ultimate Warrior wanted an award for the backstage people, but then the WWE turned it into the Connor thing
ReplyDeleteShe's become not terrible. I don't think she's any good though. Definitely much better than her sister, who is in the running for worst pro wrestler in North America.
ReplyDelete153 more days.......
ReplyDeleteBryan is like this generation's Magnum TA, except for the fact that he actually did win a world title.
ReplyDeleteAt least she's better than the Great Khali.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, to be fair, so is a traffic cone.
If he shaves a selected area, he could be the WWE's Magnum PI
ReplyDeleteOh fuck, I hope Vince doesn't see this.
Hey, great!
ReplyDeleteWell, and the fact JCP planned on making Magnum the face of the company
ReplyDeleteI don't really have any objection to Connor getting the first one, as it made it a big deal, but I agree they should look to the spirit of what he wanted for subsequent awards.
ReplyDeleteYou just know the next one's going to Kevin Dunn, tho.
Jim Cornette made a few good points about how bad that angle was in one of his many shoots.
ReplyDelete
