Owen Hart: future Hall-of-Famer?

Is Owen going to go in, or will Martha keep cock-blocking?

Why would either side want it at this point, though?  WWE can't admit any liability for legal reasons and Owen's family doesn't want to be reminded of his death, so what are they gonna say?  "Owen was a great guy who is now dead through no fault of WWE or any company hired by them"?  I just think it's best for everyone if they leave it alone.

They should induct The Blue Blazer as played by Koko B Ware. Two HOF rings for the Birdman!

First two posts and we both mention Koko. Great minds...

  4. I love how Martha lost the love of her life and the father of her children and yet she is somehow a heel...

    ReplyDelete
  5. Only way I could see this happen is if Martha's children convince her to change her mind. Some time ago I read an interview with one or both of their kids who were nearing adulthood, and they seemed more open to the idea than Martha.

  6. Only one of these men is worthy.

  7. Let's change the circumstances of his death. Owen dies at the same, but in a tragic, but totally unrelated to wrestling manner . . i.e. a boating or skiing accident. Or a plane crash like Payne Stewart. Would he get in then?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Owen goes in when Benoit goes in. So, yeah...

    ReplyDelete
  9. Can't see why not. It would be on the WWE at all if that were the case.

    ReplyDelete
  10. As long as the fans remember him, it will never be left alone.

    ReplyDelete
  11. What a staggeringly inappropriate use of the phrase "cock-blocking".

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well maybe they get around it by inducting High Energy as a team.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Id say open up an animal wing and Frankie goes in along with Matilda and George Steele...

  14. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 11:18 AM

    In a word? No.
    In two words? HELL no.

The only way Owen gets in is if they induct the Hart Family or the Hart Foundation as a whole or Martha dies and one of his kids puts him in. But it is safe to say Owen will be the only wrestler not inducted. (And they will eventually induct everyone.)

  15. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 11:21 AM

I agree. According to her book she hated wrestling and didn't ant Owen doing it. So now the thing that she hated was a factor in killing her husband ans SHE'S the bad guy?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Does this point to an alliance between the Hart Family and the Red Rooster?

  17. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 11:22 AM

    Why ISN'T Koko worthy?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 11:24 AM

No. The Hart Family is stopping the Red Rooster from getting in the HoF.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have that book, talk about a sad fucking read...

    ReplyDelete
  20. The WWE will stoop to any low to get Reigns over as a face.

  22. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 11:34 AM

Good idea, but it sounds like she wants nothing to do with wrestling.

I wonder what would happen if one if her kids wanted to wrestle?

    ReplyDelete
  23. No, the Red Rooster screwed the Red Rooster out of the HoF.

  24. YankeesHoganTripleHFanApril 5, 2015 at 11:41 AM

I am still confused...I know we all hate HHH, (well not me specifically) but do we want him to take over the company or not?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 11:46 AM

Agreed. The Hart sisters treated Martha like shit, but Martha craved the spotlight.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 11:52 AM

She said no and the WWE hasn't asked AFAIK. It's the fans that keep asking.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I should't be, but I'm still stunned when people somehow construe Martha as being in the wrong. The WWE HOF isn't even a real HOF.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So I'm guessing this is the daily thread for the moment

Someone on 411 wrote an article saying that HHH/Rousey is something could run if they want to sell out WM next year

    ReplyDelete
  36. That matchup is dumb

Now, HHH and Steph vs Rock and Rousey where the men take the bulk of the match and it ends with Ronda making Steph tap, that will put butts in some of the seats

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  44. I doubt you'll get one definitive answer because(it's the weirdest thing) some of us have opinions of our own and we aren't one functioning body forced to have one sole opinion.

  45. Meltzer is reporting that Stephanie wants to book herself and Rousey in a one on one match. WHAT!!!??? she's an older office lady thinking she can hang with a legit mma killer. I hate mcmahons

    ReplyDelete
  46. Remember that time Scott said he wanted a match b/w HHH and Chyna?

Not that that would have violated "no man vs. woman" of course...

  48. YankeesHoganTripleHFanApril 5, 2015 at 12:23 PM

Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt face off in an Easter Sunday Match. It's shockingly violent...they actually can't show it on TV. They nail each other with a crown of thorns until both are a bloody mess. Bray gains the advantage and whips him 39 times, and then Dean gets the advantage and does the same. Ambrose nails Bray to a cross, and is about to perform Dirty Deeds off the cross when he see's the Easter Bunny and goes to get candy. Bray with Sister Abigail for the win.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My enjoyment of the big WrestleMania Play angle is that not only will it lead to the Steph/Rhonda match (unless Dana steps in and says no match, then they'll just be in the corners of Rock and HHH), but that no matter what we're gonna get A FULL YEAR of Steph being all tough and demasculating everyone (divas AND men) to "keep her strong" for Rhonda.

Austin @ SummerSlam '98 (Okay, Austin kicked him in the balls, but Undertaker leg dropped him through a table, so we'll call a spade a spade)
Austin @ Raw after King of the Ring '99
Austin @ Fully Loaded '99 (First Blood, but whatever)
Riikishi @ raw before Armageddon '00 (No, seriously)
Brock Lesnar @ No Mercy '02
Kurt Angle @ No Way Out '06
Great Khali @ Judgment Day '06
Big Show @ No Mercy '08
HHH @ No Way Out '09

    Brock Lesnar @ WrestleMania 30

Watch Heenan's scathing commenarty on the Self Destruction DVD.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I seem to recall that last year, depending on how you found it, you got a different version of Warrior's HoF speech. If you watched what was listed in the menus (the normal way, just browsing), you got one thing slightly edited, but if you searched for it using the search function, what you ultimately were presented with contained the full speech. Does anyone else recall something like this happening?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Right.....well don't mention his name....and when they show it on RAW, dont show his picture

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh my God they got rid of all their real burgers?! And you have no choice during your regular mandatory White Castle appointment but to eat a veggie burger? No? You mean it is just a wider range of options and doesn't effect anyone who isn't interested? How bout that.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I always like the swerves where one guy acts on his own volition and even the other heel is shocked, rather than nonsensical conspiracies. Like when Flair turned on RV at Unforgiven '02, HHH is like "Uh...I just called you a pathetic loser an hour ago, but yeah, I'll roll with it!"

    ReplyDelete
  74. So Hayes claimed that the story surrounding Sika and the rest of the Samoans being pissed about Reigns losing is bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  75. My first PPV in person...and they run a no finish in the main event. Fuck that.

    Great undercard though.

    ReplyDelete
  76. That's what Sika told him to say...

    ReplyDelete
  77. The Savage retirement match is one of my favorites of all time, but Warrior makes Goldberg and The Road Warriors look like technical prodigies in the ring.

The Hogan match always made me wish Hulk put the same effort into other matches.

    ReplyDelete
  78. So THATS why HHH buried everyone; he just wanted to get more allies

    ReplyDelete
  79. Steph's dog goes in before Matilda, Chris Jericho inducts her.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hell, Vince did the same thing at WrestleMania 16. He turns on Rock and HHH & Steph are like "Wait wut."

    ReplyDelete
  81. Why do they have to discuss his death, though? It's not like drugs or steps were mentioned during the inductions of Hennig or Eddie.

Talk about the the good times, a vague "we lost him too soon", easy. No reason to go into details.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I even love Shane's reaction. His dad just beat the shit out of him about twenty minutes prior and he's like "well, I hate the Rock... so... cool!"

    ReplyDelete
  85. I want Demolition in. If Trips can build bridges with Warrior and Bruno, surely Eadie shouldn't be a problem?

    ReplyDelete
  86. What's the story with Eadie, exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 1:06 PM

.....you mean like when orndorff turned on hogan and he went to celebrate with the team he was just fighting?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Lawsuits between WWE and Eadie, I think over use of the Demolition name or something. I can't recall entirely.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I figured it was all a joke until the finish. It's goofy and Bray wins, so it must be legit.

    ReplyDelete
  90. They have an agreement with Martha where they cant profit on Owen. This would put them right back into litigation. This is a no win situation for all involved. Only way it ever happens is if the kids tell Martha they want him in....

    ReplyDelete
  91. Charismatic eNegro Jef VinsonApril 5, 2015 at 1:08 PM

    ReplyDelete
  95. Kurt Angle puts his foot on the ropes to prevent Benoit from retrieving them, and then Benoit reverses the ankle lock to a pin and puts his foot on the ropes for leverage to win! What a flagrant miscarriage of justice!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  102. Rockets trying to gag this away.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Watching Edge vs. Dolp Ziggle from the '11 Rumble. Weren't Edge and Kelly Kelly sort of an item in this angle?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Even though it probably wasn't planned that way, Edge's final run as a face was a great coda for his career. His character becomes a neat composite of Rated R Superstar and wacky E&C Edge, he gets in a feud with ex-wife Vickie Guerrero, and his final match on Raw was a tag match with Christian as his partner the week before WrestleMania.

    ReplyDelete
  105. You know what's great about Angle/Benoit Unforgiven 2002 besides just the match? They got the crowd into it even though it's heel vs heel, and they did it without an intricate angle. WWE wants these long, win-trading feuds leading up to PPVs now, and here, it's just "I laughed at Angle for getting the Stinkface, and he held me down so I could get one. Give me Kurt Angle at Unforgiven". Simple yet effective booking even around something as silly as Rikishi's fat ass.

    ReplyDelete

Diana and the other sister (Ellie?) called Martha and cursed her out for not working with the WWE after Owen's funeral. Martha also alleges they cut side deals to get Bulldog and Neidhart back in the WWE. Of course Vive made Bulldog pay his dues by rolling aroung in dog shit (which Bret commented on in his column.)

  111. Dumb fucking foul by Harden to foul out; two-possession game with 30 seconds left and you have five fouls, and he just tackles Russell. Lucky for him Westbrook missed both.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Im pretty sure Chyna and HHH did have a #1 contenders match before SS 99...

    ReplyDelete
  113. That's just scratching the surface. You also have Curry balling out, AD looks like he's going to have his coming out party this year, the Spurs look very interesting this year.

    Meanwhile in the East......

    ReplyDelete
  118. Something like that. You get to see Kelly's cute dumper in the match, that much I remember.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Has the Warrior match against Flair ever been released where he drops Flair the wrong way and causes him to have inner ear problems? And why was there never a definitive Flair vs. Warrior match? It would've been interesting to see if Flair could've got a good long match out of the Warrior like he did with Sting.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  130. Yeah it was, I was hoping that would show up in the livestream tonight but it's the 2009 version instead.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  134. No, it's definitely the best. 09 and 2012 are very good but 2000 is an all time card

    ReplyDelete

Take the Tag title match from Wrestlemania, add some participants into the Hardcore match and throw on a womens match and BOOM top 5 Wrestlemania card.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Wwe: people are enjoying this so we must stop it immediately.

At least that's one feud Undertaker definitely won.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  153. THE PEOPLE!

    ReplyDelete
  154. If she had only slept with Cena. Owen would have gotten fired and might still be alive today.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Solid mid carder at best maaayyyybe. But if he ever gets to the main event the fans turn on him. Hahahahahahaha YEP!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Owen won't go in unless Martha consents and Martha will probably never consent, so it's a non-issue. The only way I see this EVER happening is WWE pledges to work with her on some project for her foundation, but even then I could see her turning down that offer. She's pissed and it's hard to blame her. It's probably not even solely about Owen's death, it's probably the whole picture and what the wrestling business and WWE specifically does to its performers and their families over time.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Ostensibly because he was a six time champion in a region so small that they don't have a wiki page for it.

    ReplyDelete
  158. The possible exception is WWE settled a lawsuit about using Owen's likeness a couple years ago. If the terms of the settlement grant WWE permission to use it for future projects, then maybe they could put him in without her, but if she's not on board she could probably create such negative publicity that it wouldn't be worth.

It would be 10x worse than if WWE decided to put Macho Man in without Lanny and his mom's consent.

    ReplyDelete
  159. To be fair, that was at the end of an Elimination Chamber match, unlike the others which were singles matches.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I'm pretty sure he jobbed clean to HHH at a PPV in 2002 where the ring ropes broke during their match. It was in the UK, so probably Insurrextion.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Martha won't live forever.

    ReplyDelete

  163. And you'll keep posting about it on the Blog of Doom until things change, yessir

  164. Maybe not, but his children may not want him in either.

  165. We really need a Easter Sunday daily thread.

Where else are we going to discuss the importance of The Easter Bunny crucifying Santa because Herod's Pilot won't listen to Muhammad until Muhammad comes to him?

Or something like that, I fell asleep in Sunday school a lot...

  171. Would like to see Owen in more than anyone, but yeah all the legal shit with Martha is just too big of an elephant in the room to ignore.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Ironically by not being much more different than he is now. He's a funny guy.

Like was stated before she hated wrestling and wanted nothing to do it before he died. I doubt she'd do anything now.

Also she hates the Hart family (other than Bret) and iirc she wasn't too cool with him mending fences with Vince.

  178. I've never heard anything about HHH being bitter about the Warrior squash. Anyone have details or sources?

    ReplyDelete
  179. Sting was a way better worker than Warrior.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Ugh, that match is embarrassing. The spot near the beginning where Warrior does an overdramatic right hook and then Flair literally turns around and guides himself into position for the atomic drop is ... just awful.

    ReplyDelete
  181. I think the only way it ever happens is if Owen's kids say to their mom that they'd like to see it and convince her. I mean, an induction would lead to weeks of both fans and past and present wrestlers talking about how great Owen was. If my dad passed away when I was young, I'd like to see that.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I've already envisioned how the induction video would go. The narrator would say something like "The 1980's was the golden era of tag team wrestling. And the greatest teams from around the world flocked to WWE to prove their worth (quick clips of the Bulldogs, LOD, Harts, Rockers, etc...) But one team....stood head and shoulders above the rest...." And then the kickass Demolition theme song kicks in with clips of Ax and Smash beating the shit out of people.

    ReplyDelete
  183. But if we're including tag matches where he DOES take the pin, he was pinned cleanly by....wait for it...KAMA MUSTAFA.....on the June 16, 1997 edition of Raw. And this was while Taker was the reigning WWF champion! Taker pretty much wrestles the match 2 on 1 because his partner Ahmed Johnson was about to turn on him. But still, KAMA MUSTAFA pins the Undertaker cleanly with a hard Irish-whip into the turnbuckle and a modified Rock Bottom.

Here's the pinfall...unfortunately in this video, you don't get to see the move the proceeded it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAGu6AFCYTQ

  184. When Warrior was "The Dingo Warrior" did he pretend to be Australian? Jim Hellwig cutting a promo while trying to do an Australian accent sounds like a hoot.

    ReplyDelete
  185. Imagine if the NWO strickly WWF guys.

    Hogan
    Nash
    Hall
    Syxx
    Savage
    Dibiase
    Piper
    Henning
    Rude
    Vincent
    Liz

Then Sting kills Hogan at Starrcade. Hogan gets turfed out of the Nwo and then Bret Hart replaces him because after being screwed he's decided to surround himself with people to protect them.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Nash tells a story of how he was wrestling hogan, and he put hogan in a headlock and hogan goes, "Slow down brother, we already got their money"

  187. A free ride when you've already paid.

  188. I like this too. And anything is better than adding a bunch of WCW guys for no good reasons.
