This is from Justin LaBar at Wrestlezone.com
"According to WWE sources, the company will be banning Seth Rollins from using the curb stomp finishing move.
WWE’s feeling about the move, which the WWE World Heavyweight Champion uses as his finisher, is that it’s too much of a direct liability and risk for a head injury. All of sports is trying to be more proactive when it comes to preventing head injuries and concussions, and this is the reason for WWE banning the curb stomp.
WWE reportedly doesn’t want its top star to be doing that move every night and they also don’t want to be showing it in past clips or videos anymore. This is why last week on RAW when Rollins came out, the video which played during his entrance was primarily just graphics of his name. The normal entrance video for Rollins features a compilation of clips, several of which are him performing the curb stomp."
So, what do you guys think?

He came into the company when they were making these sort of measures.., SO WHY THE FUCK DID THEY LET HIM HAVE THIS FINISHER FOR THREE YEARS?!
ReplyDelete*Cornette Face*
The Curb Stomp, like The Punt, has to be an MDK finisher. Always teased, rarely unleashed, and nobody (not even Cena) kicks out of it.
ReplyDeleteThen, when Lesnar kicks out of it...it has value.
The fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
ReplyDeleteHow the fuck do you not think about this until the guy is champ.
ReplyDeleteGood call, any decision with the worker's wellbeing in mind is a plus. There are hundreds of other moves he could use anyway.
ReplyDeleteSeeing how the superkick also involves a headshot, can we expect that move to be banned next? The Brogue Kick?
ReplyDeleteIf they want to make it an MDK finisher, that's one thing, but guys have been taking that finisher for three years and you haven't heard of anyone getting hurt. As long as Rollins isn't really driving his foot down, then the victim controls how hard his head comes crashing down.
That doesn't make any sense it is a face bump from a crouch, if you can't do that safely you shouldn't be in the WWE.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool, that's a real low risk move.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny because at Wrestlemania I figured that the Curb Stomp is one of the safest, but best finishers they have. Rollins pushes his foot and his opponent falls about 2 feet. Looks much worse than it is.
ReplyDeleteI can get banning some of the more risky moves (like the piledriver), but come on. This isn't ballet.
Man I was just gushing over the move in the aftermath of Mania. How it fits the bill of a great finisher- looks like it hurts, can be done in anybody regardless of size, and can be countered smoothly and realistically.
ReplyDeleteIf he's hurting guys with it, fine, change it. But if it's just a perception thing is it any worse than the pedigree or dirty deeds (probably others)? I mean, they hit each other in the head and sell concussions all the time.
I agree with the people saying make it a MDK finisher (on that note, when's the last time Orton has used the punt? Has it been banned?) Banning it altogether seems pretty extreme unless there's some info about people he's injured that we're not aware of.
ReplyDeleteThe move sucks, he's far too talented to be doing that. Surprised it too this long
ReplyDeleteThen?
ReplyDeleteThe punt is, indeed, banned. He teases it every once in a while for big matches, but hasn't hit it in probably 3 years.
ReplyDeleteGive him the stunner.
ReplyDeleteTranscribed:
ReplyDelete"We are running out of wrestlers due to being cheap and stupid. Out of an abundance of caution, we are banning every move North of a small package"
Maybe the reasoning is...it's not a very safe move for the kids trying to emulate it.
ReplyDeleteDON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.
I'm guessing the turnbuckle powerbomb will be banned too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Rollins is defined by that move but the rationale makes no sense. I mean, how many pro wrestling moves appear to give a guy a concussion? It's NOT REAL! They should ban all punches....all DDTs....all kicks to the head....all power bombs....every Brock suplex.
ReplyDeleteI mean, isn't Reigns big move a jumping punch to the fucking face??
Wow, I don't usually encounter this level of knowledge on the blog. I suppose, after giving it more thought, that a face bump is pretty damn simple...though I can't do it safely. Which is cool because I most definitely don't belong in the WWE ( I'm as soft as rotten fruit) But you were also capable of calculating the probability of mistake by either of the two performers on any given night. This is some damn fine work man. Kudos.
ReplyDeleteMaybe raise your kid to not be a complete retard then.
ReplyDeleteSure makes teaching "WWE Style" quicker down at the Performance Center.
ReplyDelete"Let's go over this again. It's kick, punch, kick, punch, punch...SLAP! Kick, punch, duck clothesline...then DISTRACTION, roll-up, 3 count."
But the pedigree stays?
ReplyDeleteVery true my friend, this makes no sense at all unless like I mentioned below, he injured somebody with the move (or some dumbass kid backyard wrestling did it and hurt/killed somebody.
ReplyDeleteBrogue Kick? You're cut.
ReplyDeleteBull Hammer? Cut.
Superkick? I like your style, which is why it was so hard to cut you.
I think that about does it... except for the WMD, Sister Abagail, and Dirty Deeds.
Running Knee... please don't worry... you're cut.
Now.
ReplyDeleteForever.
That's a good point. I feel that one should ban a move only after demonstrated injury, regardless of business.
ReplyDeleteNO. Wait for Sting's music. YOU IDIOT.
ReplyDeleteHe's talented enough to get just about anything over. He'll be ok without it.
ReplyDeleteThere is a dark hypocrisy to this, though. CTE is shown to be more associated with collisions, not concussions. The compiled, repeat damage of sub-concussive hits is showing to have more result of 'brown brain' than individual concussions cause.
So basically, wrestlers who still take bumps are compiling this damage, but WWE is more interested in the illusion of brain damage reflecting on the company.
What if you're a retard yourself?
ReplyDeletePlease. A Dennis Miller intro would run longer than the match.
ReplyDelete"Yes, you have a question, Hideo?" (listens) "I suppose you could skip the punches and do more kicks...if that makes you more comfortable."
ReplyDeleteThe move can be easily modified for extra safety. He can put his foot on their upper back between the shoulder blades. The Kevin Dunn Seizure Cam can actually be a benefit here by cutting to the right angle to hide the fakeness of the bump. Easy.
ReplyDeleteAnd you all thought I was nuts for wondering how he's gotten away with having that finish (called THAT name no less) for so long? HA! HUSS!
ReplyDeleteI knew this day would come eventually, but honestly, I agree that as long as it's not outright banned, but rather kept on retainer as an MDK finisher only busted out in dire times, a la The Punt (or the Tombstone...Taker didn't do it very often when he was full time, in the last decade anyway), then that's fine. But if this is just kiddie gloves being slowly put on everything, then they're actually gonna manage to make the future of wrestling become even WORSE than they already are.
WWE.
ReplyDeleteWe don't like cool moves.
Literally no WWE finishing move is safe for kids to emulate.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the more I think about the more I feel is has to be that he hurt someone (or more).
ReplyDeleteThe Big Show's knockout punch is the dominant finisher in wrestling today. The optics of the curb stomp can't be the reason.
On a related note, Cena throwing 680 pound steps into people's faces is still allowed.
ReplyDeleteWhich means if he ever does, it's gonna be like a western Burning Hammer.
ReplyDeleteI like your sarcasm. While we're at it, why don't we have a ballon instead of titles and whoever catches the ball tries to run while all the other wrestlers hug.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I appreciate having grown up watching the AWA.
ReplyDeleteWe put Baron Von Raschke's claw on EVERYBODY.
Hall was 6'6"
ReplyDeleteI'm all for safety, but where do you draw the line? If it's move safety, I would think Brock dumping guys on their heads/necks is more dangerous. If it's emulation, literally every signature move in the company is dangerous.
ReplyDeleteIt's a flat bump on the chest, no?
ReplyDeleteCan't go doing Pheonix Splashes all the time so I guess next is finding a submission hold.
I read that as "Why don't we have balloons instead of titties"...which made "all the other wrestlers hug" a completely different result.
ReplyDeleteUnder the guidelines of "Money Talks", Brock is void of any and all WWE rules.
ReplyDeleteThen don't be curb stomping people.
ReplyDeleteIt's not real.
ReplyDeleteBUHHHHHHHNEEEEEEEEEN HAAAAAAHHHHHHHMMAAAAAAAAAHHHH!
ReplyDeletePretty much. Guys take it chest and shoulder first and whip the head back. Obviously some guys take a more vicious bump. But that's on them
ReplyDeleteYou forgot 20 false finishes. DISIZAWSUM!@
ReplyDeleteOf course. Because he's a muscley armed paper boy.
ReplyDeleteWrestling's... Not..... FAKE!
ReplyDeleteCena does a Stunner. Rollins should do the Rock Bottom, spring board of course.
ReplyDeleteThat's Main Event Style. That's the 200 level class.
ReplyDeleteUN-Ban the Piledriver.
ReplyDeleteSomeone remind me again how the curb stomp is any more or less dangerous than an impaler DDT, a movie Cena just took on a recent RAW? Or a tombstone piledriver, that movie Bray Wyatt got nailed with at WM? Or pretty much ANY Brock Lesnar offense??
ReplyDeleteA lot more wrestlers need MDK finishers. I love the idea of a category of moves that are universally seen as deadly.
ReplyDeleteI legit almost pissed myself listening to Bret tell that story.
ReplyDeleteI hear it's still real to some, dammit.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of possible concussion-inducing finishers, does anyone remember that sweet Koko B. Ware suplex/piledriver thing from the 80s? What was it called? Pretty sure that was banned too. At least with the Curb Stomp there a plausible chance for injury, unlike the Cesaro swing which was banned for a time out of sheer spite.
ReplyDelete...cuz.
ReplyDeleteI want a standard neck breaker or a DDT to be someone's finish again.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't they just put the wrestlers in SKIRTS and have them beat up STUFFED ANIMALS on a giant pile of FEATHERS?!
ReplyDeleteWrestlezone.
ReplyDeleteGive to Bray the DDT.
ReplyDeleteWho needs stuffed animals when you have mannequins, pally?
ReplyDeleteSHAADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!
ReplyDeletehttps://youtu.be/tl87W1BOYQY?t=5m29s
It's a brainbuster. It's been a wrestling staple for decades.
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary, I think Owen would have seen a career resurgance with Jericho/Benoit/Guerrero coming in. He would have finally had guys on his level to cut loose with.
ReplyDeleteOwen would have probably gotten the Benoit lifetime achivement award at WM20 had he survived.
ReplyDeleteAh I was always a WWE fanboy so I don't think I ever saw a full episode of Nitro. (and by the time it came to Canada, I didn't feel like waiting 2 days to see a 2 hour version of a 3 hour show that I'd already read the results of on Monday night) but at least now I get where you're coming from. :)
ReplyDeleteShit's poisonous, yo.
ReplyDeleteThey used to be called "finishers".
ReplyDeleteOh, those were the days... ;)
Seventeen years later, Vince finally sees American History X, gets nervous.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the atomic drop regaining it's dominance as a finisher. #LOLCenaWinsWithABearHug
ReplyDeleteSeth Rollins with the School Boy
ReplyDeleteI think Benoit between his 2002 return and Rumble '04 really did so much to get over that there was just no denying him the kind of moment he got at WM20. It was his year; I don't know what Owen's would have been.
ReplyDeleteI see Owen being someone they could have went to when the amount of rehashing got ridiculous when they were still doing Austin vs. Undertaker and Kane vs. HHH matches in 2002 since either he hadn't wrestled a lot of the Austin/HHH types since they were in the midcard or hadn't wrestled others like The Rock really at all, thus making a lot of fresh matchups.
I think Owen would have probably hung on until about 2004 or 2005 as a top tier upper midcarder that could be used in main event feuds. I don't believe for a second that he was going to quit wrestling and be a firefighter or any such stuff.
Seth is good enough to find a new finisher. Was he using a different finisher in RoH and the indy days?
ReplyDeleteThe Distraction Roll-Up seems like a pretty safe finisher.
ReplyDeleteIn fairness to Owen I don't think he'd have attempted a move on someone else he wouldn't take himself. He took a screwdriver from Scott Steiner in the Harts vs. Steiners match.
ReplyDeleteSmells like bullshit to me.
ReplyDeleteI believe Koko's version was called the ghostbuster
ReplyDeleteIf he's paired with them. And he doesn't retire. Both are unlikely.
ReplyDeleteOwen wasn't a guy in love with the business. He's not sticking around until he's 45.
I'd give Rollins a Sharpshooter or the Texas Cloverleaf as a submission, and maybe something like the Edge-o-matic that he can do as an impact finisher. Whatever his pinfall finisher is, he needs to be able to do it to anyone.
ReplyDeleteHow is that any consolation to Steve Austin? Or someone like Droz?
ReplyDeleteThe Bryan/concussion denial story makes this more interesting. It's funny how Bryan works a TV match in a major overseas markett, is heavily protected, and then suddenly flies home after working Smackdown, then the company says, "Oh no, he wasn't concussed at all!" I mean, yeah, if he *was* concussed and WWE put him in a match, no matter how protected he was, that looks extremely bad.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying for sure that a curb-stomp ban is tied in, but I really feel that there's a connection.
I would argue that they should ban 20 minute endless promos at the beginning of RAW since I think that causes far more head damage then a curb stomp does.
ReplyDeleteWell, really anyone without self destructive tendencies.
ReplyDelete"The WWE is coming to your town and you can get tickets to WWE LIVE!!! Come watch your favorite stars like John Cena, Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns as they take it easy and not get too excited out there. That's it. Everyone will just sit back and not do much for your entertainment."
ReplyDeleteThree...count 'em...three hot takes!
ReplyDelete1) KEEPING KAYFABE LIKE A MARK!: Wait! Why would The Authority take away Seth Rollins' best move just before a match against Randy Orton where the stipulation is that Randy Orton can't use his best move?
2) KIND OF SMARKY!: Rollins is a heel. His character shouldn't care what he's supposed to do--he does what he wants. He should keep doing the Curb Stomp and see who tries to stop him.
3) FULL ON RUSSO: This is just a story that's getting planted in the dirt sheets so that when Rollins does the Curb Stomp in future shows they'll think that he's in trouble backstage and that way they can use Rollins in a Punk/Austin worked shoot sort of way.
Can't wait to see Seth Rollins' shiity new "neckbreaker variation" finisher.
ReplyDeletePerhaps they meant "repeated head butts" and not "curb stomp."
ReplyDeleteCrazy European mis-translation!
They should just change the move where instead of the dude's head, he curb stomps their foot. It might not be that effective but it would make me laugh every time.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure either Droz or Austin would not like to trade "victim of in ring accident" places with Owen.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Droz's due to a combination of some asshole threw a drink in the ring/D'Lo couldn't grip his shorts?
They're saving that for when Kurt Angle comes back for one last WWE run.
ReplyDelete"Our doctors, Kurt, say you can't take ANY bumps...but, they say you CAN put your foot on someone's ankle... We'll call it the Angle Stomp."
I was a WWE fanboy too, but also a Wrestlingfanboy, so I watched everything which came on tv. ;) In germany, we had wo wait weeks for the current RAW but we could watch the complete nitro "only" 4 days later. And even today we have to wait 3 days to see a 2 hour version of a 3 hour RAW...(since WWE doesn't come on sky anymore)...
ReplyDeleteI dunno about this. The bulldog and x-factor is kind of the same thing in theory. And with the F-5 it's not just their face but their whole body from the height of 5 or six feet.
ReplyDeleteSOoooooooooooo...they are taking away one of the things that got him over?
ReplyDeleteFrom Wikipedia:
ReplyDeleteFinishing moves
As Seth Rollins
Avada Kedavra (Superkick to a kneeling or seated opponent)[118] – 2010–2011; used a signature move thereafter
Curb Stomp[3] (WWE) / Blackout[119] (NXT) / Peace of Mind[119] (WWE) (Running pushing stomp to the head of a bent-over opponent)[50][120][121] – 2012–2015
Diving high knee,[122][123] sometimes while springboarding[124] − 2012–2013; used a signature move thereafter
Skywalker (Standing shiranui)[122][125] – 2012–2013; used as a signature move thereafter
As Tyler Black
God's Last Gift / Small Package Driver (Fisherman buster floated over into a small package, sometimes from the top rope or while applying a wrist-clutch[126])[4][127][128]
Paroxysm (Swinging lifting inverted DDT)[1][127][129]
Phoenix splash[1][4]
Turnbuckle powerbomb followed by a superkick[4]
Well to be fair getting wrestlers over really isn't something WWE cares about anymore.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose's finisher is the DDT
ReplyDeleteWell the tombstone is banned from use by anyone other than Undertaker and Kane.
ReplyDeleteThe Phoenix splash should be used on special occasions.
ReplyDeleteOk, just remove every move that can hurt the head or neck:
ReplyDeleteBodyslam
Back Suplex
Vertical Suplex
Belly to Belly Suplex
Belly to Back Suplex
Headbutt
Fallaway Slam
Punt Kick
RKO
Stunner
F5
FU
STF
Headlock
...
anything else?
Punch
ReplyDeleteKick
He's got the backflip DDT and the low superkick( do they still call it Avada Kedavra?) as finishes, plus the springboard knee to the head and Phoenix splash. Work or not, he'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteJust make Rick Martel the new GM. It will explain why there is no moves being done to the face/head. (Except for Lita. Every wrestler finishes on her face.)
ReplyDeleteDouble arm version.
ReplyDeleteI call that maneuver getting "Cesarobarrettambroseryder'd"
ReplyDeleteThe Low Superkick works because it can be done to anyone regardless of size.
ReplyDeleteKeep that in mind when he feuds with the Big Show upon his inevitable face turn.
He actually makes it look low risk... even when he lands on his feet for it.
ReplyDeleteAn old man fumbles while trying to both put a DVD back into a Netflix envelope and talk on the telephone at the same time.
ReplyDelete"Seth, it's Vince McMahon. Have you ever considered shaving your head?"
(As Vince hears the answer, he frowns and then picks up a pen and crosses two things off a note pad in front of him. The first thing he crosses off is "Shave Head". The second thing is "Big Tattoo On Chest.")
It's like WWE 2K15: Black and White Gameboy Edition.
ReplyDeleteHa! You're talking about wrestlers ejaculating on her aren't you? Oh Jeff, you're such a stinker!
ReplyDeleteNetflix? Vince is still trying to figure out how to send that late VHS tape back to Blockbuster.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you quoting Bugs Bunny like...
ReplyDelete...you're Roman Reigns, aren't you?
"Steph! I'm done watching this movie. How do you rewind this?"
ReplyDelete"It's a DVD, Dad..."
True. I dunno, the DDT has been defined as a transitional move for so long now, I don't think it can be presented as a finisher without some dressing up.
ReplyDelete$100 says this is all about the CM Punk lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose has a finisher?
ReplyDeleteI never thought the movie even looked as devastating as it conceptually might, like it's consistently been done with safety in mind. I get wanting to make it a special spot, but it's definitely a move he should be allowed to use in big matches. If he needs a new TV finisher, I wouldn't mind seeing him give God's Last Gift (the Small Package Driver) a try.
ReplyDeleteDDT is basically a front facelock piledriver, stop using as a transition move.
ReplyDeleteGuys, guys, guys, and gals too.
ReplyDeleteWrestlezone people...
I'm not really getting this one - Rollins gently places his foot by your head, and the other guy does half of a push-up.
ReplyDeleteYeah man you can't just beat a ghost with a roll-up!
ReplyDeleteWhatever happend to that saturday morning show WWE used to have a couple of years ago where they banned or cut out all moves to the head and neck area? That's the only thing that makes me think this might be true. But like others said, they woupd have to ban a whole lot of other moves.
ReplyDeleteWWF won the lawsuit, so apparently their argument was pretty convincing.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but no face is going to ever tap to Seth Rollins.
ReplyDeleteBut can it be done on larger opponents?
ReplyDeleteVince Mcmahon writes my posts.
ReplyDeleteIt's a leg hook DDT.
ReplyDeleteHe hangs up, frustrated.
ReplyDelete"Half-smart little punk. Hmm... wait, I know! I'll call Roman!"
I know. It's fun to talk about though.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the God's Last Gift is exactly the sort of "safe" move they're looking for.
ReplyDeleteDidn't DDP get some money for the Diamond Cutter symbol from Jay-Z?
ReplyDeleteAfterwards, he can hit a few
ReplyDeletePeople with guitars, Then he can sit down for a shoot interview with mike tenay saying how he dislikes Kevin Nash.
The thing is though everyone has smart phones. And every phone as auto correct and for no reason whatsover sometimes they just decide to change the words that you type. If we pointed out every single error in sentences we would never get to talk about how awful Roman Reigns is.
ReplyDeleteIt should be pretty easy to check his entrance video, right?
ReplyDeleteI know what it is, but can he pull it off on the Big SHow, Kane or someone of that size?
ReplyDeleteHe's pretty strong.
ReplyDeleteVince: "I KNEW THAT!
ReplyDelete........
.....so that means....I don't have to rewind it?'
Steph: "......."
Person who needs a new finisher ASAP?
ReplyDeleteRoman- new move, Triple Powerbomb.
If true....if true....it sounds like a move to keep kids from emulating it. In the professional wrestling world it's executed very well and appears to be highly safe. If two kids try to do it in the backyard a broken nose would be the best case scenario. And the last thing they want to hear is some kid in surbubia broke his neck because his buddy tried to do a curb stomp while they were wrestling in the backyard.
ReplyDeleteSo making it like the punt might be a good thing if that is their thinking.
business suit Morton mullet is hard to beat... easy top ten worst heel turns... Morton suffered from Honky Tonk Man disease, where he gets so crazy over it breaks his brain and he never evolves further
ReplyDeleteI think Austin's issue stems from Owen never checking on him or apologizing to him.
ReplyDeletethe cheating old men that still come out to an 80s theme song looking for high fives... weren't they heels for a couple weeks during the Feb 98 NWA invasion angle Russo did to fuck with Cornette?
ReplyDeleteI think they only keep The Punt a "possibility" to troll the fans at this point. They've teased it so many times and it always fails to manifest itself.
ReplyDeletePersonally I didn't think it was a great finisher, and I'm a big fan of Rollins. The move looked awesome in their debut six-man because it looked like he kind of improvised it and it came out of nowhere and looked spectacular. As a regular finisher it becomes one of those contrived deals where a guy has to find himself in a not-THAT-common position every time against Rollins (e.g. 619). I'm looking forward to seeing what his new finish is.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't half as brutal as Super Dragon's curbstomp anyway
ReplyDeleteI love the curb stomp. As a finisher, it's one of the safest moves out there. A bit contrived, yes, but it's also simple to execute and looks very effective when sold properly. Better for Seth to use that rather than try to bust out a Phoenix Splash every week.
ReplyDeleteDragon actually injured people.
ReplyDeleteAll finisher from here on out should be springboard stunners.
ReplyDeleteIf he could do that to Big Show he'd get over for life.
ReplyDeleteHe could bust out the Phoenix Splash for the special occasions like Post-Invasion Booker T would use the Houston Hangover.
ReplyDeleteRight? That sloppy trash seems more dangerous than "you push up while I lightly put my foot on you."
ReplyDeleteHe could always have a go at that finisher that Prince Ikea did, that jump off the turnbuckle DDT thing that looked like shit 99% of the time.
ReplyDeleteThat's only something I see Cesaro, Brock and Cena doing it.
ReplyDeleteBackyard Wrestling is deader than Davey Boy Smith.
ReplyDeleteIf you ban curbstomps, only criminals will have them.
ReplyDeleteReally cool move, this sucks for Rollins.
ReplyDeleteRoman Reigns, zhu are zo uglay! Zhu will ave a tagteem match with that chevre Daniel Bry-ahn against Zhey and Zhey Zegurity! Now ZAT is "model leadership!"
ReplyDeleteWell, that would be a move worth banning then wouldn't it!~
ReplyDeleteHonestly it doesn't shock me. The only reason anyone knows Superdragon is because his moveset makes the most indyriffic wrestlers go "dude...that's fucking dangerous."
The only reason I connect the two is because I'd been reading for months Rollins had adopted the curbstomp before I saw him use it, so I was picturing the Dragon version of the move. then I saw it and was like "oh, well that looks way less like it could kill someone."
BARRY WHITE DRIVER.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes watch suicidal dragon's compilation of Super Dragon moves.
ReplyDeleteA guy using ONE of those moves is always cool. It's just one guy hitting you with them that transcends to "lol someone gonna die" territory.
Vince: "Well, Seth, your Curb Stomp's gone for safety reasons."
ReplyDeleteSeth: "That sucks, it looked great, but I never hurt anyone with it."
Vince: Yeah, well anyway...good news is, I picked your new finisher. Remember MVP's Playmaker? It looks like shit, but wouldn't hurt a fly. Enjoy it, pal!"
Seth (under his breath): "Fuck."
Said it on the previous thread, I'll say it again
ReplyDelete''This is from Justin LaBar at Wrestlezone.com''
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
WHO'S BRINGING IN ALL THE JAPANESE TABLES IN OUR THREADS???
ReplyDeleteThe Power Bomb should be his move.
ReplyDeleteBut they have a "don't try this at home" disclaimer! I mean, seriously, if kids don't pay attention to that, they're lost causes anyway
ReplyDeleteThis wouldn't have worked. I can just imagine him in his CAUTION tights raising both arms and comically yelling "I AM THE GAME".
ReplyDeleteSomebody tweet Meltzer and tell him to take his flip phone off vibrate. There's NEWZ
ReplyDeleteMeh. If they were so serious about the safety of the move, then they should have never allowed him to use it to begin with.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I'm thankful they waited until after that awesome RKO at Wrestlemania.
I loved when random JCP guys would pop up on Nitro for a match.
ReplyDeleteI doubt they will ever do it again but the tease alone gets a rise from fans right?
ReplyDeleteLike Vince would remember MVP.
ReplyDeleteHe remembers Shelton.
ReplyDeleteMore Phoenix Splashes. That's safer for everyone!
ReplyDeleteThis is a real 180 for a company that had him nearly kill Dean Ambrose with a Curb Stomp on cinder blocks.
ReplyDeleteThis just in...NJPW has banned everything it does for being unsafe.
ReplyDeleteSome idiot kid must have tried it on his little brother.
ReplyDeleteI only know him from the Botchamania chant.
ReplyDelete"Hey Vince, what about the mainstream-style comedy I want to do for the Network, Curb Stomp Your Enthusiasm?"
ReplyDelete"WAIT, NON-WRESTLING TV?!! BRING BACK THE MANEUVER, PAL!"
He should have if he didn't!
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense.
ReplyDeleteIn retrospect I wonder how Austin feels now.
ReplyDeleteThere has to be money in top star vs Gu who broke top stars neck.
What about the fucking ladder matches that have the guys getting powerbombed through a ladder that's ok?
ReplyDeleteOr give guys more than a night's sleep to recover from physically taxing matches, or not create a culture where they are scared to take time off for injuries and operations.
ReplyDeleteThe Man Gravity Forgot is an AWESOME nickname.
ReplyDeleteHarkins back to the days advertising a side show you truly wouldn't beleive. A super human athlete!
You know what's a great nickname for ambrose?
ReplyDeleteDirty. "Dirty" Dean Ambrose
See, I like the Freebirds because the heat they got was always unreal.
ReplyDeleteLmao Jr screaming was funny it was a horrible segment but worth it for Jr screaming
ReplyDeleteEverything is OK if it doesn't get you over. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of when people were saying Brodus Clay came up with Mark Henry's Hall of Pain gimmick for himself and Henry took it. The "gimmick" was just a push, actually getting to dominate opponents. Maybe Clay came up with that phrase, but I don't think he narrowly missed getting a clean win over Orton because Henry snatched his idea.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I was actually hoping they could find a way to pull of the curb stomp from the top of the cage at extreme rules.
ReplyDeleteAgain, though, the AA, the DDT (especially Dolph's version), the Brogue Kick, and the Chokeslam/Tombstone are just as, if not more deadly if done in real life.
ReplyDeleteWill it still be a move that he is at least allowed to pretend to set up, like the punt kick?
ReplyDeleteAll head shot moves banned. Except the pedigree. That's grandfathered in
ReplyDeleteI actually disagree. Finishing moves are the one aspect Roman needs no improvement in -- his spear is badass, his Superman punch is great, and he's got that deadlift powerbomb deal.
ReplyDeleteLet's stop using actual wresters! CG and a holographic ring will fix everything!
ReplyDelete
