WWE Schedule leaked

Interesting from my perspective to note that they've basically killed off Western Canada at this point, with the last Calgary show drawing a disastrous 3000 and Edmonton not doing much better.  And yet still both cities get two visits next year and here in Saskatoon we haven't had a show of any kind since 2011.  Regina has had something like 2 shows since then, I think.  It's so funny because this market used to be their easiest sellout every time when they were hot and draw the most faithful audience, and now there's not much left.

The rest of the list should make for interesting discussion, I'm sure.

Comments

  1. Their house show here in December drew 33% capacity. I believe part of that is that a lot of people like me did not know there was a show. Time to promote your events, folks! Bring back Event Center with Lord Alfred Hayes! Okay maybe not Lord Alfred.

    ReplyDelete
  2. It's funny that you said Hogan pulled out of the match, because if he were to attempt to slam Andre in 2007 his spine would have been pulled out of his body.

    ReplyDelete
  3. So...no tapings in the Bay Area in the next 2 years...disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Denver gets 1 RAW in the next year. Colorado shows have almost vanished.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Adam "Colorado" CurryApril 12, 2015 at 2:04 AM

The capacity for the FNC here in Buffalo is listed at 13 625. It holds a little over 19k for hockey, and according to Wikipedia 16,597 for wrestling,

Maybe that stupid fucking HD set is too fucking big? Not that it really matters, the last Raw here drew about 9,000, and I'm sure it was papered out the ass.

    ReplyDelete
  6. WWE's definitely had it out for Canada in the PG era, not sure which show sent Vince over the edge but the reduced amount of PPV/TV tapings has been very noticeable.

Still 6,522 for a regular ol house show in Edmonton (My neck of the woods) is fair nowadays and i believe still above average.

Wish they would cut back on the amount of dates they run to be honest, how much can they really pull in averaging less than 5K per show? But Vince is a carny to the end and will happily run his guys into an early grave till the end.

    Go Avalanche? Oh, wait... Fuck.

The fact that they're running the Ricoh Arena instead of the ACC in Toronto is telling. To put that in perspective, ROH did their last Toronto PPV at the Ricoh.

    Australia still not getting a Raw/Smackdown :(

  10. Burt Macklin, Man Without FearApril 12, 2015 at 2:30 AM

Kennedy injured Cena too in 2007 right in the middle of his feud with Orton and year long title reign.

    ReplyDelete
  11. You don't suppose Vince is STILL holding a grudge for Denver forcing him to move Raw to L.A. at the last second, do you? Because that would be unbelievably petty.

    ReplyDelete
  12. And when you consider how near-indestructible Cena has proven over the years, you have to be a colossal fuck-up to injure him.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Are there actual people that actually care about Anderson and Kali?

Why answer a question that was fake.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Pretty stoked to be getting Survivor Series here in ATL this year.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mb it would help if you actually pay for the wwe network in your local community. I am sure your fake addy of 90210 is getting lots of live events.

But you did save 10 bucks! Yea......

    ReplyDelete
  16. Adam "Colorado" CurryApril 12, 2015 at 3:02 AM

I'm sure he happily would if he could get the full American experience up in nothern Cunnuckistan. And you'd still find some way to be a fucking douchebag.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Burt Macklin, Man Without FearApril 12, 2015 at 3:16 AM

Mb? Is the word maybe too long to where we need it shortened to Mb? Or were you attempting to type 3MB?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Burt Macklin, Man Without FearApril 12, 2015 at 3:16 AM

That WrestleMania crowd was good. Pay attention to that crowd Vince, not the Raw crowd the next night!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Still hard to believe this is one of the most purchased wrestling PPVs ever (2nd?) and the second biggest paid crowd and overall attendance the WWE has ever done. The 80k number announced at the show was worked, but the almost 75k and 68.5k paid are pretty far above anything they've done since.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Here's to hoping they get their shit together by June then.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This list really shows how many seats their sets take up -- they list the capacity for the Moda Center here in Portland between 13,000 and 14,000 and they regularly draw 19,980 for basketball games where (obviously) there are no floor seats because of the space the court takes up.

It's either a leaving lots of money on the table "because WCW" move or a way for them to mask the fact they couldn't sell out these buildings if they couldn't block off so many seats, but in either case it doesn't tell a good story.

It does make you wonder about WM next year too -- they are going to have to scale back majorly on the size of that set to even have a chance at breaking the record, which funny enough was set by a basketball game, the 2010 NBA All Star Game which drew a crowd of 108,713.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The O2 number in London shows how much they loose due to the 'tron etc. For concerts the capacity is listed as 19,000-20,000 and for tennis (with much less floor seating, but no stage) about 17,500. The schedule here shows 14k and change - which seems consistent with the show attendence numbers I've seen over the years.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well, there's going to be shows in San Jose, but it's the Bay Area by dint of very rough geography. To me, you're in the same area if you can go to and return from a place in a day without too much hassle, and getting to San Jose is a pain in the ass because there isn't BART and it'd be fifty bucks by train (and fuck driving, either you're going through the city/peninsula which is hell, or you're going the ass way around the south bay). Also San Jose sucks.

I share many features with the Rock, charisma, looks, acting talent, being "east bay boys". So, as a resident of the hills and valleys, finding my way down to the fucking Silicon Valley is terrible.

Seriously, play Oakland. Hipsters+poor black people is the core fandom of wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hogan did slam Show in 2007 at that Memphis show that there was a whole thing where WWE pulled Lawler from the event.

If I've got my timeline straight, I believe that match against Show in Memphis was also the last time Hogan dropped the leg on anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ah, Kennedy. One of the ultimate "I don't know what anyone saw in that guy" guys to me. He was AT BEST average in the ring, had no real mic skills beyond bellowing out his voice (and I found that annoying), and when he debuted, it was like the entire internet was hanging off of his nutsack. Then all of a sudden fans online turned on him, he got a mega-push, then he fucked it all away and was gone.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Burt Macklin, Man Without FearApril 12, 2015 at 4:06 AM

Oh shit, you're from Berkeley? That's awesome.

I wonder why they don't run Oracle more often. I also had no idea Rocky was from the East Boy or if that's bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hasn't Cena been hurt multiple times? I think he just comes back super-quickly because of magic and HGH, so it feels like he's always around.

    ReplyDelete
  28. They are doing some pretty tiny venues in Tokyo. Almost half the capacity of the Singapore venue! Didn't they used to run the Tokyo Dome?

Doesn't seem worth it to fly in the rings and talent just for that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. There is one very easy way. Pay for it just like everyone else.

Wee network is now coadt to coast here in Canada.

You get a full time TV chanel plus acESS to all the vault stuff on your computer or iPad or whatever

I love scotts reviews but he is becoming overly cheap and actually making a point to bring it out in his reviews

If you are a candain yohbbeed cable because we love kive soorts. Hockey. Baseball. Football
Scott you live in Saskatchewan yet can't even watch one football game??

This has been one of the best weekends ever for live sports

    NHL playoffs seeding

    MLB epic games

    Ufc figh night

Masters. With tiger making a charge

Then everyone here seems to want to know what scotts feelings are in things. When the dude doesn't watch any of this

    ReplyDelete
  30. With digital scanning of seats I wonder why anyone would ever thibk the numbers produced for shows would not be legit. WWe is a public comany and I doubt they would want to lie about there figures

I checked online right before this past wrestlmania and most ticklets were sold. I am sure the number ther federation said was good

Scott is making it sound like they have to have count tickets and stuff.... Umm. It's all electronic. And tickets scanned via entry

I try not some barn in moose Jaw were unlce craig is counting coins

    ReplyDelete
  31. Of course they have electronic scanning... but they lie every single year about their numbers for WM, usually around 10k+ over the actual number.

Vince McMahon gets around it by saying whatever comes out in press releases or is on TV is 'for entertainment purposes only'. The numbers they put down on the books for the stockholders are different than what they announce on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So here in Edmonton Alberta. For example like you said.

Our nhl team has had countless sell outs.

But if you look at the stands 25 percent of the crowd isn't there.

The owners buy the offset tickets for a loss just so they can always say it's a sell out

I am sure the same is with wrestlemania.

    ReplyDelete
  33. You can see it pretty good here during Brock's entrance. A lot of people showed up as empty seats.

    http://ww1.hdnux.com/photos/35/41/01/7737460/11/rawImage.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well, technically if you clear 90% of tickets sold according to Ticketmaster that's 'a sell out'. There are all kinds of tricks as far as getting away with using that term.

There weren't even 77,000 seats in the building to fill though in this case -- so their number is totally fabricated. They configured it for 70k, got 67k in the building, and probably around 60k paid I'd guess (that number won't be out for another week or so).

WM tickets were slow selling this year and as the show approached there were lots of reports of radio stations giving tickets away or people getting 40% off the face price of the ticket the day of the show, so there just wasn't the demand there have been in previous years.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm exhausted just looking at it, so imagine how tired The Big Show must get with all that flying around. I forgive you Paul for being slow and lethargic in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You can actually prove the WWE is lying about the WM attendence by looking at the final reports.

Page 8 on the file I've linked below gives the Q2 attendance including and excluding WM and the number of events in the quarter. A minute with a spreadsheets suggests that WM29 was 70k and WM30 was 60k (compared to 81k and 75k announced).

    http://ir.corporate.wwe.com/Cache/1001196762.PDF?Y=&O=PDF&D=&fid=1001196762&T=&iid=4121687

  37. Born and (not) raised. Though I was brought up in Berkeley's hillbilly cousin of a city, Davis. I take by your "awesome" reaction that you too are familiar with the greatest metropolitan area in the world (suck it New York, city of the trash storms and hurricanes).

Last time they ran Oakland was...Elimination Chamber 2011? Which I remember having a pretty decent WHC match, and retroactively a pretty great way for Edge to go out (his Mania match wasn't bad...but it lacked a little heat).

Rocky was apparently born in Hayward, which I think makes him the coolest thing to come out of Hayward. Though it does seem that the Rock has some weird personal connection to every city in the United States.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wasn't watching.

Props to Show for babysitting Hogan through that.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sorry, Albany. You won't ever be anything more than a B+ City.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The original comment was in regards to Scitt saying. There is no way ever they could know the exact amount of people present to the event.

    And well.... Yes they can.

If they inflate the number is another discusion

    ReplyDelete
  41. They are actually starting to visit Rochester/Syracuse/Buffalo more often.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Also, Corpus Christi only has 3 shows booked and we all know that's bullshit because they do RAW there, like every other week.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Seriously though- what DID people see in him at first? I remember his debut month, and it was like reviewers couldn't STOP sucking his dick.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's such a quick and easy thing to do. Remember when JR would promote live events during crappy Raw matches in 98?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Nah, WWE never ran the Dome except if they were co-promoting shows (the WWF/AJPW/NJPW Dome show from April 1990, and the WWF/SWS shows from April and December 1991), as they could never possibly fill it up. They did ran the Saitama Super Arena in 2005 (holds 19-25000 seats for pro-wrestling events), and they did some shows on Budokan Hall (13-14000) in 2008 or 2009, or both years maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Kennedy was seen as a guy that made it on his own without the machine backing him. Smackdown was rough at times back then and his full on dick heel persona was welcomed

    ReplyDelete
  47. If anyone is interested here are the paid attendences for the last five WMs backed out from their key performance indicators published in the corporate section of the web site (and therefore not worked):

    2014 (30) = 60k (claimed 75k)
    2013 (29) = 70k (claimed 80k)
    2012 (28) = 57k (claimed 78k)
    2011 (27) = 63k (claimed 71k)
    2010 (26) = 64k (claimed 72k)

Can't find any further back on their web site. 2012 (Miami) seems especially bad.

    ReplyDelete
  48. He was decent worker with a fun gimmick and some nice spots. He was also a great midcard heel.

By the time he got his push, they decided he should be Stone Cold Jr.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Man, I was just dead wrong about Kennedy. I'd watch him in the ring and one of the things I really liked about the guy, is that he was always trying to win the match. He'd take so many shots at a guy, it was just something you didn't see. He reminded me of Stunning Steve...

... turns out he was just kind of a loud mouth gym teacher type guy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It drew something like 2,200 people... showing the value of a non-WWE show no matter who was on it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Most of the football grounds I've been to seem to count season ticket seats as sold regardless of whether the person is actually at the game or not. So you can have a game at the Emirates (Arsenal's ground) which is "sold out" but can have several thousand no-shows (unless its a really big game when even the no-shows off-load their tickets via StubHub).

    ReplyDelete
  52. What's the deal with this Roman Reigns guy? He sucks

    ReplyDelete
  53. I've never seen Wrestlemania 22, 23 or 24. I have little motivation to watch any of them now. What am I missing out on? All I watched during this period was Royal Rumble.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm excited for next year's years announced attendance record of 113,173.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I remember when Kennedy came back from an injury for that huge Raw that was moved from Denver to Los Angeles because of the NBA Playoffs...and then he got Future Endeavored the next day.

    ReplyDelete
  56. They never fucking advertise when they're in Syracuse, I usually hear about it the day of.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The last Rochester show was like that in March. I work two blocks away from the arena and my messenger found out the day of the show. It's nothing I really keep track of... but usually there's still a little bit of a buzz when WWE is in.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Canada: Being punished by WWE for having a mind of its own since 2004.

And now they're dealing with the same problem in their home markets. Whoops!

    ReplyDelete
  59. No because he loves what he does.

    ReplyDelete
  60. He badly botched a belly to back suplex to Randy Orton with Orton throwing a temper tantrum in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kennedy was on Fox News after Benoit's death talking about how he is clean and never did steroids than he gets busted within the week. The guy was a complete tool. I hated the entrance and the stupid boxing announcer gimmick.

    ReplyDelete
  62. 22 is incredibly underrated. I've heard wrestlers say they love working Allstate Arena because of how low the ceiling is and how it captures the crowd noise and you can tell. RVD winning MitB, Foley-Edge, Mysterio''s victory, and a great Cena-HHH main event. It's the last WM to be in a regular arena so it lacks some of the insansity we are used to now, but it's really just a great wrestling show.

The other two have some good matches on them but I don't think your missing much.

    ReplyDelete
  63. They're in 'Cuse on my birthday! And I wont be going.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I love house shows. I'd rather go to one of those than 10 RAWs. I'm eyeing one up in the November UK tour.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The one I went to in Sheffield last year was ok, we got "treated" to Kane vs. Big Show in one of the worst cage matches I've seen, and it was shit to not have a screen to catch some of the street fight main event action but for an inexpensive wrestling fix it was totally fine.

    ReplyDelete
  66. A history of how WWE blew it with Canada

1997 - WWE: "Hey, guys. Did you know that you can cheer who you want to? Go ahead and do that with Bret Hart." Canada: "OK. We'll give it a shot!"

1998 - WWE: "Sorry about that whole thing with Bret, guys. But we really love how every show we've been running up here in the last year has been a sell-out. And we also love how you keep sticking with us even though WCW was kicking our ass. Can you forgive us?" Canada: "OH HELL YEAH! Stone Cold is awesome!"

2002 - WWE: "OK, we didn't quite expect what happened at Skydome. Really? You didn't cheer for The Rock? Huh." Canada: "HO-GAN! HO-GAN! HO-GAN!"

2004 - WWE: "BOOING Edge in his hometown? Hey, we liked what you were all about. But this is getting a little crazy. And why aren't you rooting for a great character like Eugene? This is too much to process. I think we need a bit of a break. You're getting a little bizarre." Canada: "Y2J! Y2J! Wait... what?"

2006 - WWE: "What the... WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! You CHEERED for Victoria beating the shit out of Christy Hemme and the other untrained WWE Divas? DON'T YOU KNOW HOW WRESTLING IS SUPPOSED TO WORK?! Who put the crazy idea in your head that you could cheer for whoever you wanted?! You need a time out." Canada: "Gee, Terrence. I think the arena was only half-full today."

2009 - WWE: "HAHAHAHA! SGT SLAUGHTER AND JIM DUGGAN ARE MAKING FUN OF CANADA YOU BACKWARDS FUCKS! FUCK CANADA!" Canada: "WWE is in town, Phillip, but I'd rather spend my money on Kraft Dinner and go on an adventure!"

2014: WWE: "KEEP BACKING UP THE TRUCK, ROGERS!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! COLD HARD CASH!!!" Canada: "Ah, perfectly legitimate streams. How we love you."

    ReplyDelete
  67. Khali sucks as a wrestler but I couldn't help but smile when he showed up on TV. I went to a house show and little white kids were bobbing to his music, Bollywood-style.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Such bullshit. He looked noticeably smaller from his debut to the time he left WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  69. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 12, 2015 at 6:46 AM

    Three really good WMs.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Orton was annoyed that it might make the match remotely interesting and people would remember it instead of the bland cookie cutter matches he prefers

    ReplyDelete
  71. Agree. Never saw what made him special. His gimmick screamed mid card and I never got why anyone cared about him

    ReplyDelete
  72. He has his own tour bus though. And you really have to see it ... Ah forget it

    ReplyDelete
  73. I went to Nottingham in November, we got a Cena/Rollins main that was good. I can't imagine yesterday's Reigns/Show main was to the same standard.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Portland is an "A" city while Seattle is a "B" city?!?! Suck it, Washington.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I find it hard to have much respect for a company that tells as many lies as WWE does.

    ReplyDelete

He just never developed beyond raw rookie.

  82. And hippies

    ReplyDelete
  83. And he'll cut a yelling primo about it!

    ReplyDelete
  84. ROCK-em SOCK-em Robot!!!!April 12, 2015 at 7:21 AM

It was a combination of factors.

Smackdown 06 was so barren that any shred of star quality stood out. He had a distinctive memorable entrance. And he was terrible in the ring but he fought like a dick which was kind of entertaining and looked like it was going to turn into at least a decent worker.

And than he topped out at that.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Unless I missed one, no MSG show in 2015 until October? There's something sad about WWE not doing at least four shows at the Garden per year. Vince Sr would make his son join HIS Kiss My Ass Club.

  88. Punk did have a great wrestling mind. Like that piledriver vs Cena was a simple, but excellent spot. The crowd bought that shit as a near fall. It's also why Brock works so well wrestling fewer times. His high-impact moves feel so fresh compared to everyone else.

BOWLING GREEN gets ranked but Lexington doesn't? Bowling Green has 60,000 people compared to over 300,000 in Lexington and we can't get ranked? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  90. I respect this guy less though, ovs.

    ReplyDelete
  91. That's because Lexington sucks so much.

Nah. They're just stupid. That doesn't make any sense to me either.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Agreed. I don't get it but if people find him entertaining more power to them

    ReplyDelete
  93. Agreed - he had an incredible intensity in the ring. I remember some matches he had against both Hardys, and he really seemed like he was out for blood.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'm with you - I can't even tell you how many times I've fallen asleep when he's on screen.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Cena gets booed in large part because it's the fun thing to do. And even if "no amount of good matches with midcarders" could change that...what, should he have boring matches in the main event instead?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I thought he had an ok look. He had those douchebag tattoos that were all the rage then.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Dream match!

    In 1998

    ReplyDelete
  98. I can tell you how many times I have. Zero. But I still think he's one of the most boring individuals on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Sorry, squad leader, I seem to be having difficulty understanding your banter.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Checking out TNA for the first time in ages. It's nice to see that the announcer put no more effort into their craft than the Raw crew. Gail and Angelina killing each other outside the ring and Tazz and Josh are joking around.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Quality reference.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Do they even go to Portland? I know they stayed away for the longest because of the drug testing.

    ReplyDelete
  103. That piledriver is one of my favorite crowd reactions in recent years. The crowd just freaks the fuck out.

    ReplyDelete
  104. They are having Raw here in November and then SurSer in Atlanta a few weeks later. I can't afford to do both. Never been to a ppv so I think I'm rolling with that.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Cena vs Orton,one more timeApril 12, 2015 at 8:13 AM

Now they won't ever hold a major show there because Canadian audiences actually have the balls to call the WWE out on their bullshit instead of sitting politely with their hands on their laps(like the majority of American audieces)

    ReplyDelete
  106. Same here. And Royal Rumble in Orlando, which is close enough for me. Time to start planning ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'd recommend a ppv over raw. Raw has too much downtime with commercials and backstage skits when. Ppvs are much more fun live.

    ReplyDelete
  108. They are finally having RAW in Boston again. Would probably rather go to TLC in December though

  109. I think I'm going to plan on Survivor Series then head down to Orlando for Royal Rumble. Never been to either one.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Same here. Raw is boring with all the downtime from commercials and whatnot. House shows usually have at least 1 or 2 unique things happen.

    ReplyDelete
  111. So Miz/Cena outdrew Cena/Rock. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Cena vs Orton,one more timeApril 12, 2015 at 8:22 AM

    And Cena/Rock 2 outdrew the first.Heh

    ReplyDelete
  113. I went to the Rumble in 93 and 2005 and it's probably the funnest wwe event you can go to. I mean, aside from the last two years.

    ReplyDelete
  114. You shouldn't be because hes awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'm happy because they'll be here in Northern California a few days before my birthday. We already got tickets for Raw in San Jose when we were at the Raw after Wrestlemania and I'll likely go to Smackdown in Sacramento as well.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Raws are a real pain in the ass for three hours honestly.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Wish I could make a Rumble. They had one in Atl back in 09, I think. Should have gone. Not sure why I didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I went to 2014. It certainly wasn't a good event but it was a great experience lol

    ReplyDelete
  119. They only have 5 hours a week though....

But yeah, with all that time to kill, insane they don't do a Renee segment a week, "this is what you missed" with one big high spot from the prior week and the next week or month's dates

    ReplyDelete
  120. I forgot about this. I went when they first started them and it was death.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Hell in a cell is in Los angeles. Is it worth it? Can you see through the cage?

Only cage match I ever saw was bret vs yoko for the belt

    ReplyDelete
  122. I futilely tried to get tickets to that one. Sadly, unless WWE goes to MIlwakee's Miller Park (domed, but only seats about 43,000 for baseball), I'm never going to have another local Mania because of their obsession with stadiums. I understand you can get more people in, but Daylightamania a couple of weeks ago shows the downside of (at least outdoor) stadiums.

    ReplyDelete
  123. They had Unforgiven 2004 in Portland, plus Raws. They had a house show there a few weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  124. He was just so obnoxious, with the ring announcer thing and his promos. Maybe they were trying to cater to kids; they like loud, obnoxious things. And his tats were god-awful.

    ReplyDelete
  125. WWE made the mistake of thinking Canada was an aberration. Instead, it turns out Canadian fans were ahead of their time and the company is finding this out in the worst way.

    ReplyDelete
  126. After his initial push, dude was morphed into a Santino-esque comedy role. And the kids/crowd liked him well enough. No harm to anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  127. "Because that would be VINTAGE VINCE!"

    -Michael Cole, dead and semi-shoeless.

    ReplyDelete
  128. my favorite raw match of all time! even cenas botched frankensteiner was still awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  129. I think people are getting confused: the belly to back suplex was the last straw for Kennedy. Kofi and Regal both messed up spots versus Orton, and neither one of them got fired. Kennedy was fucking up spots all over the place and hurting opponents.

    ReplyDelete
  130. The problem was that Kennedy was sloppy as Hell. He had the right idea (constantly fight out of holds, look like you're hurting the opponent etc) but was way too sloppy not to actually hurt people.

    ReplyDelete
  131. He's hurt by wear and tear, not by any particular wrestler. Kennedy is the exception.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I dont think cena will get the respect he rightfully deserves until after his career is over.

    ReplyDelete
  133. There's a difference between a sustained program between two wrestlers and one match between a champion and a random challenger.

    ReplyDelete
  134. They're really tough to get through. With the commercial breaks of boring stalling and the dumb segments it's honestly better to watch at home if youve been to a Raw before

    ReplyDelete
  135. How about sustained programs with younger talent to put them over?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Watching Backlash 06 right now!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Amazing and depressing that Charlotte is rated so low by them but I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. Both ROH and TNA had a really hard time drawing in Charlotte recently as well.

    ReplyDelete
  138. They'll be back in Phoenix at the end of October, which is great because I wasn't able to see them the first time before Wrestlemania. Of course, it doesn't compare growing up in New York where I can count on them to be at MSG once a month.

    ReplyDelete
  139. pg era hiac matches have just not been worth it to me. hiac is supposed to be a bloodbath to end feuds and we dont get those anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Meanwhile, on my side of the country, the Maritimes are lucky to get a show at all, house show or otherwise. Then again, we always got the short end of the stick. When they did Canadian tours, there might be a show in Halifax and a show in Moncton. We'd be lucky to get that maybe once a year. I saw a couple of shows in Halifax, like a Taker/Kamala main event and a Savage/Dusty Rhodes cage match during their respective feuds. The last house show I went to was in Fredericton, back in 2008. I think they had a house show in Moncton once since then.

We got one RAW, I remember. I didn't get a chance to go to it for whatever reason. It was the one where Bret flipped out after a cage match, shoved Vince, and basically threw a tantrum.

It's a shame because I remember growing up in the 80s and we had Grand Prix Wrestling on local TV every week. Now, we'll get the occassional indie show and maybe WWE every 5+ years.

    ReplyDelete
  141. It's worth noting that when the bust was known to be happening, but names hadn't been leaked yet, instead of staying quiet, Kennedy RUSHED to anyone who would listen to take up the "pro wrestlers don't do steroids" mantle and proclaim that he was 100% clean, KNOWING his name was going to be leaked.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I love how ALL of Canada is in the B+ range.

    ReplyDelete
  143. They need to get rid of these PPV names. Battleground is an awful name, Payback is pretty dumb, Night of Champions was fine when it came out but that show shouldn't be every year.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Yup. Also, as I recall, Orton had just recently returned from a shoulder injury and then Kennedy botched the spot and dumped him right on his injured shoulder.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I am honestly surprised WWE still goes to Chicago for this very reason.

    ReplyDelete
  146. There's a relationship advice column that's going viral today. I don't know if you guys have read it already, but it is insane.

"The dilemma I have been in love for the last year and recently proposed. After 10 years of bisexuality (though I had more female partners than male) I was happy, excited and in love. She introduced me to her parents three months ago and her father and I recognised each other from a local cruising site. We have been intimate on about three or four occasions. He has made contact with me and asked me to tell my fiancée about my sexuality. I asked if his wife knew about his, and we have reached something of an impasse. He has since taken screenshots of old photos of me and I have also found some of him. Shall I just walk away from the woman of my dreams?"

    ReplyDelete
  147. Any Browns fans around? Rumors floating that they are willing to move both their first rounders to get Mariota. FanSided is suggesting if he falls to 7 that it's a good deal. I can't find fault in that logic.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Well, that's the downside of *west coast* outdoor stadiums.

Though yes, the roofless atmosphere means you lose some of the crowd noise.

    ReplyDelete
  149. And it's also consistently been a bad show. The "because the Fall sucks" shouldn't be an excuse either. No Mercy was a very good show in 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007, and 2008:

    ReplyDelete
  150. I like the NoC concept a lot, the concept where the belts championships Excellence in Sports Entertainment Pants Holder-Uppers are the star. It's just that the booking never held up.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I guess that's okay. Just shows how stupid the Manziell pick was

    ReplyDelete
  152. People really got swept up by the name thing. I can't lie, I did too.

But yeah, you look back now and you're just like "why the fuck did I think this guy was gonna be anything?"

    ReplyDelete
  153. So mitb is in Cleveland so do miz or ziggler have a shot at winning it again?

    ReplyDelete
  154. DeFilippo is working with Mariota iirc. If he likes what he saw, then yeah it's a good thought. He'll never get to 7, though.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Right. When they first started the show it was fun but now it's just another PPV no one cares about

    ReplyDelete
  156. What does Night Of Champions even mean?

Most PPVs have all the titles defended these days and the NOC show will have non-title matches on it as well.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think it's in Columbus actually.

    ReplyDelete
  158. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3UbJk7ciRA

It wasn't that bad... plus Orton injured Kennedy's hand on the RKO in the same match. It got blown way out of proportion. Also, Kennedy came back with MUCH shittier music.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Especially since all of the belts (5) are now fought on most ppvs now

    ReplyDelete
  160. I dunno about you, Mike but I'm kinda siding with the devil I know in Cutler if we can get Cleveland's picks. This also means Mariota drops past Tennessee, Washington and the Jets.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Eh. I mean, they needed a QB badly and Manziel had the qualifications. He just flamed out horrifically.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Huh. I thought they'd run Saint John over Moncton.

    ReplyDelete
  163. My mistake. The way the looked on my phone it looked like Cleveland. But Columbus is close to cleveland

    ReplyDelete
  164. I don't mind Battleground. Payback sounds pretty generic. I know a lot of people hate it, but I dig Fastlane. As I've said before, it sort of makes sense since they're always going on about the Road to Wrestlemania. So the road theme is consistent with that. It makes more sense than Over the Edge or Hell in the Cell for that time of year.

    ReplyDelete
  165. I know it's crazy to even consider. They're going on reports that Tennessee is happy with Zach, Washington isn't actually interested at all and neither are the Jets.

    ReplyDelete
  166. It seemed like from 2012-2014 it should have been branded as "this is the show that the US title will get defended at"

    ReplyDelete
  167. They do sometimes, but it seems like Moncton gets a show more often than Saint John. I could be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Burning another first round pick on a QB? Don't agree with that but if they do, he should be holding a clipboard the first season because Cleveland needs to get the pieces to put around him. MIght as run Manizel and McCown out there for the upcoming season.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Depends on who & how, and there's no reason to believe WWE is going to do it right. Having Rusev beat Cena at WrestleMania and retain the championship would have accomplished that goal twice as well as their theoretical Cena project. Rusev would have been the biggest monster heel since Lesnar had he beat Cena cleanly, and the guy who eventually beat *him* would instantly be a big deal.

It's only gonna mean something with Cena if one of these random challengers comes back for a 2nd, then 3rd try, and they eventually beat him. If some heel cheats to beat him, or one of these random challengers scores a fluke win, or even if they debut someone with a surprise win, it's all just stuff happenin'. Fans can only connect with it emotionally if a challenger arises and they give that story time to play out.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Over The Edge made sense in 99 at least because of the Scaffold match.

    ReplyDelete
  171. He wasn't bad at 22 or wherever. I'd have howled if they took him earlier. He just turned out to have a really bad health/psychological problem.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I liked sin and greed and mayhem

    ReplyDelete
  173. There was a Scaffold ma...?

Dude. No. Just no. That's not right.

    ReplyDelete
  174. It's more like giving up two first rounds for a qb in the deal that's being rumored. I really feel like it's a better deal for whoever gets that trade with Cleveland.

    ReplyDelete
  175. There were three TV tapings in Halifax over the years:

93 - was the 5 hour wrestling challenge tapings (i remember Bret/Luger) but taker/kamala was probably on the card as well.

97 - wasnt the bret hissy fit. It was the Six Man Flag Match which had nuclear heel heat for foley/austin in bizarro Canada.

03 - they did raw/sd on back to back nights and i believe Mr. America was one of the main points. I remember Hogan getting like a 10 minute ovation which they aired on SD

    ReplyDelete
  176. They need kevin Costner who turned a first round pick into like three first round picks

    ReplyDelete
  177. Ding! If they can get Mariota at value and build the team, he can learn the offense from the safety of practice and learn from McCown. Honestly I'd rather the team take a second-round talent like Grayson or Hundley and get the lines/receivers bolstered. If they're going to get to 7, hope Cooper or White is there.

    ReplyDelete
  178. " but there's only so many fuckups that he'll put up with" ---- FALSE. If they like you enough, you're bulletproof (See, Orton, Randy). He had too many political enemies backstage, so Kennedy was DONE

    ReplyDelete
  179. Huh. Just looked up the Halifax RAW. You're right, it was the six man flag. Weird. I always thought it was the hissy fit. I stand corrected. It is, still, however, the only RAW show they ever did there.

Hogan's standing ovation, though, was in Montreal.

    ReplyDelete
  180. No one's blaming Cena. But let's not pretend Cena's doing the Lord's work here and "elevating" the midcard. At the moment they're just killing time til his rematch with Rusev.

    ReplyDelete
  181. BTdubs, honey. I kinda fucked your Dad.

    OMG so did I LOL.

    Smileyface shruggy thing.

    ReplyDelete
  182. There ought to be a Kentucky PPV with a classic Clash-style nickname. WWE Backlash 2016 - the Bourbon Brawl!!!

    ReplyDelete
  183. 2 daredevil as a kid questions: what happened to his mom and who takes care of him as a teenager?

    ReplyDelete
  184. He also didn't injure Randy Orton. He nearly did in his final match, but he usually injured himself rather than others, which was another red mark on his file.

    ReplyDelete
  185. 1. You find out in "Born Again."
    2. You find out in "The Man Without Fear."

    ReplyDelete
  186. Orton is/was a better wrestler, more over and was a bigger draw.

So he was considered worth the cost, Kennedy wasn't.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I like how this entire thread is predicated on *two* RAW matches and ignoring the fact that they are building to a Cena/Rusev rematch.

    ReplyDelete
  188. It's hard to take some of these emails seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  189. This email isn't too far fetched. Compared to some of the stuff that gets posted.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I have paid them $9.99 a month since the launch of the Network. No idea what the fuck you're on about otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  191. You win this round!

    ReplyDelete
  192. Everything I have read suggests Mariota is rising up draft boards and is a lock at #2.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Daniel Snyder will happily play the role of "Idiot"

    ReplyDelete
  194. Good point. I want to go to TLC though.

    ReplyDelete
  195. Excluding summerslam, wm and rumble (the a-ppvs), which is the best ppv to go to?
