Finn Balor Update
Balor was going to be involved in a feud with Hideo Itami but that was scrapped with Itami's injury. They also might do a feud between Balor and Owens instead. Also, there is word that Vince McMahon wants Balor on the main roster as soon as possible while HHH does not want to rush his debut. When he was signed, Balor was told that he would not stay in NXT for long. Balor is also reported to have a bigger downside guarantee than other talents.

Big Show Update
Big Show was originally scheduled to return to TV this week but was not spotted backstage a few hours before RAW last night and did not appear on the show.

They added 97 raws through mid march. Hopefully more Nitro's come soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy May 19th! Let's all celebrate by doing something stupid at work.
ReplyDeleteBayless RAW recap reminded me of you... Kane got upset that Rollins mentioned his family... I think we can agree that it is understandable someone get upset to remind him of his wife.
ReplyDeleteBalor? I hardly knew her!
ReplyDeleteI'll see myself out.
About goddamn time.
ReplyDeleteThis update has that "new thread smell". I like that.
ReplyDeleteSHUT IT DOWN
ReplyDeleteFINALLY, a Scott Sez of Thursday RAW Thursday is on the horizon.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/36dtnj/some_insight_into_wcw_during_the_monday_night_wars/
ReplyDeletePretty interesting list of backstage WCW notes culled from various shoots. Scott Hall comes off looking like a genius.
Get the hook!
ReplyDeleteJim Cornette is full of crap. He keeps insulting other bookers, yet every time he himself was put in charge of booking in any company over the past 30 years, business went down the toilet.
ReplyDeleteI will not make a joke about Big Show as I've been told I make it too often.
ReplyDeleteSo Rock....this one's for you. ;)
Well, so I'm about 100% certain I'm going to a bachelor party in about 10 hours lol
ReplyDeleteNice. better start pre-drinking now
ReplyDeleteGotta finish all of this week's work first, stupid friends trying to out-sneak me. I need to find smarter people to associate with.
ReplyDeleteWho does a bachelor party on a Tuesday?
ReplyDeleteI'm still quietly laughing at work at Art calling me an "ignorant slut". That was such an unexpected thing to hear!
ReplyDeleteRepublicans.
ReplyDeleteInteresting if true that Vince wants Finn called up and HHH wants to wait. Personally, I think the right time for him to come up is whenever they have something big for him to debut with, and actually run with. As great as the soft debuts of Owens and Sami were, I want Finn to debut with something huge they're ready to run with right away.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited Balor is s "Vince guy."
ReplyDeleteHHH wants his personal indy league to succeed, I can't blame him. The intermingling of top NXT guys on RAW is actually a smart way to introduce them to people and cross promote a little, such as it is.
ReplyDeleteToday's just travel, I think this is all going on between Weds-Sat
ReplyDeleteAt least that's what I suspect, no one will tell me anything but their inability to tell me anything tells me everything haha
Yeah...HHH guys are protected, but Vince guys are pushed.
ReplyDeleteLike actually do our job?
ReplyDeleteBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteI'm fitting in bits of work inbetween comments
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing my Rob Conway approved May 19th t-shirt
ReplyDeleteDownloaded the PC version of WCW Nitro (the video game) last night. Now all of my phone's ringtones are Tony and Bobby screaming "IT'S THE POWERBOMB!"
ReplyDeleteI don't think Hunter necessarily wants NXT to succeed -- it's about as big as it's going to get now since they're doing house shows that aren't much smaller houses than WWE's B-level house shows -- but he doesn't want these guys they invested so much time in to stumble once they're called up. Bo Dallas and Adam Rose haven't exactly lit the world on fire.
ReplyDeleteYou came to the right place!
ReplyDeleteNo, but to be fair, Rose was never a great worker, and Bo was only average. They had something great with Bo, but Vince doesn't get it, so it failed.
ReplyDeleteThis means Vince hasn't really seen Balor's size.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the blind rumors are true??!?!?!
Oh yeah, you can't compare Bo Dallas and Adam Rose to Neville and Sami Zayn, but they're the only full-time call-ups so far really (and Xavier Woods, who seems to be doing ok right about now), so that's why I used them as comparisons.
ReplyDelete...sure.
ReplyDeleteI just watched the Cena/Owens clip. Cena did good work there.
ReplyDeleteSometimes Monday happens on Tuesday
ReplyDeleteI think it's premature to label someone like Bo as a failure, he's only been up for a year, it's not like he's close to retirement.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Vince really likes the entrance. It's very Undertaker-esque in it's plodding spectacle.
ReplyDeleteI didn't call him a failure, I said he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire. Which he hasn't.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't think NXT invested time and energy creating Bo Dallas to make him a D-lister on RAW, so if nothing changes he's ultimately going to be viewed as a failed potential.
The classic Observer from March 30th 1998 went up today on the Observer site and it has a piece about Hall checking into rehab. Also on the mainpage today is a story about Hall being kicked out of a show for being drunk and disorderly this weekend. Shame.
ReplyDeleteShhhh! He's not deaf yet!
ReplyDeleteYeah, those aren't the blue-chippers. In college recruiting terms, that'd be like holding a coach responsible that 3-star recruits aren't turning out as well as 5-star recruits. Finn, Owens, Sami...they're all 5-star recruits.
ReplyDeleteYou can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved, or doesn't believe they can be. Jake still had that hope inside, but it looks like Scott doesn't. Shame indeed.
ReplyDeleteEspecially when Monday was a holiday!
ReplyDelete17 years of this shit. I don't know how people keep going when they have these type of problems for their entire lives.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch NXT so last night was my first real Owens exposure. I liked him but how did this guy ever get the support of Vince and Triple H with that beer gut? It's kind of amazing to me.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. He did his part to make Owens look like a killer. There will be no shame when Cena beats him at EC.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't in non terrorist countries.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it makes me sad. The saying goes, "Once an addict, always an addict."
ReplyDeleteHe's like Jason Kidd in the NBA. One basic, incredibly important thing is unfixably bad (look, jump shot) but he's made up for it by being almost perfect in every other aspect of profession.
ReplyDeleteUS Title > WWE Title. Never thought I'd see the day in modern WWE where whats happening with The US belt is way more interesting than the boring Authority storyline. Ammbrose is what 1-9 in his last 10 ppvs and gets a title shot, not to mention it looks like he lost considerable muscle esecially his arms.
ReplyDeleteEveryone here was super excited because yesterday was the 35th anniversary of a mountain exploding and affecting like...no one. But it was a cool photo, so hurray!
ReplyDeleteNot everyone coming out of NXT is going to be a main eventer. WWE's always going to need mid-carders and jobbers to fill out the roster.
ReplyDelete"Everyone"?
ReplyDeleteI miss the days of beer guts. I don't want every wrestler to look like he spends 6 hours in the gym every day and eats nothing but egg whites and chicken breasts. I liked the old "regular" looking dudes like Ole and Arn, Buzz Sawyer, Dick Murdoch, etc.
ReplyDeleteGood analogy.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, you don't really LOSE a match like a 7 man ladder match, or a fatal four-way, you just don't WIN. So he's like 1-0-7.
ReplyDeleteOf course. But they can surely do better than Bo Dallas' D-list status
ReplyDeleteWho goes on a surprise bachelor party? Sounds lame
ReplyDeleteGod, that game...
ReplyDeleteThe video of his son marking out to his Dad going face to face with John Cena is pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe world title was the funnest part of Payback.
ReplyDeleteThat interview he did recently with Waltman and Nash, and they were all just being pricks about Jericho and others, you could tell then this was not some humble post-addiction guy like Jake. This was just the same old guy with the same old shitty friends.
ReplyDeletewhat about the wyatt losses??
ReplyDeleteIf Farva was still around today after Owens debut last night the thread today would be 1000x more entertaining.
ReplyDeleteHE'S FAT!
ReplyDeleteNo one! Crusty old Harry Truman was buried under the ash and lava because he refused to leave his home! We watched a whole video abou himin geography class in school one time.
ReplyDeletethe us open has been the best part of RAW each week lately.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter what you look like if you can kick someone's ass, and he can.
ReplyDeleteLike...everyone in the northwest.
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's seriously like the only story to come out of the whole thing anyone remembers.
ReplyDeleteTerrorism is is more polite than I expected it would be.
ReplyDeleteI visited the north west once... when I attended Wrestlemania 19 live.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Hall, Jake had a relapse two years ago, and he turned out okay:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wrestlezone.com/news/274533-video-jake-roberts-speaks-openly-on-his-relapse
I'm hoping it's the same story with Hall. For a lot of people addiction isn't something that you conquer once and for all.
Let's just hope that actually sticks this time.
ReplyDeleteAnd luckily without the alcohol problems, DUIs, domestic violence issues, and general penchant for being an asshole.
ReplyDeleteRIP FARVA!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Farva would make mention of the gentleman's morbid obesity in some regard.
ReplyDeleteKidd can definitely coach though.
ReplyDeleteHe's actually dropped a shitload of weight since his ROH days.
ReplyDeleteProbably log into his "FAT KEVIN STEEN" account then forget to switch back when he wanted to start commenting as himself again.
ReplyDeleteA definite possibility.
ReplyDeleteHall had a relapse?
ReplyDeleteI HATE DUCKS!
ReplyDeleteOf course he can. He had the Bucks overachieve this year.
ReplyDeleteGot kicked off a show a few days ago, TMZ had the story
ReplyDeleteHe seemed pretty wasted...but not drunk. I'm betting painkillers.
Those are 3 of the 7, the rest being losses to Seth. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOr go in to work?
ReplyDeleteYou never conquer it. It's an everyday battle. Some people just scrap and claw and win the battle every time.
ReplyDeleteBut if you've been an alcoholic, you can be stone cold sober for 30 years and there will still be days where you need to go do something or surround yourself with people so you don't run to the liquor store and grab a 30-case.
Dad Bods are "in" now apparently
ReplyDeleteI can't say anyone is a 100% lost cause, but Hall is probably the closest thing to it.
ReplyDeleteYou're never a "former addict" you're always a "recovering addict"
ReplyDeleteFail of the week!! http://videoworld.com.ua/phil-jones-goliy-vs-arsenal
ReplyDeleteHe's pretty spry for a fat ass.
ReplyDeleteJericho is a prick though.
ReplyDeleteim 2 years sober, and yes everyday is a battle. The thing thata is a must is changing your surroundings and getting rid of friends who are bad influences. Its hard to let friends go, but you got to do whats best for YOU and maybe going to wrestling matches and hanging out in the back is not where Scott Hall should be.
ReplyDeleteReading about all of the cryptic posts Meltzer has been making about TNA. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteAny time you go places and see people who you used to party with or see new people who do the same bad things you used to do it's never a good place for you. It's almost like he should either get 100% away from wrestling or have a babysitter like Josh Hamilton had/has again.
ReplyDeleteI had this thought last night and ziggaman's post reminded me of it. They're treating all the titles with more importance than they have in a long time. With your biggest star defending the US title weekly, they could treat the titles more like the four majors in golf, rather than one huge prize (the WWE title) and a bunch of jerkoff meaningless toys. They sort of already are.
ReplyDeleteWWE title = Masters. Most prestigious, most difficult to even get a shot at.
US title = US Open. Duh. Pretty much exactly what it already is: the major title that everyone can get a shot at.
IC title = PGA Championship. Has murky international beginnings, has a veneer of the "pure" title.
Tag titles = British Open. Pretty much an entirely different version of the same sport.
Speaking of the Observer, the great Capital T Todd Martin just joined the Torch. I may have to sub to that as well now
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Cornette, I watched the Kayfabe Commentaries yesterday where he talked in detail about his time in ROH. And you thought TNA was a mess of a place to work for. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteHall went through multiple rehabs, completed them all as far as I know and managed to get and stay clean for months while also looking the best he has in years. He relapsed. Yeah, that happens.
ReplyDeleteTammy Sytch has gotten thrown out of rehabs for attempting to smuggle drugs and booze into the facilities, was once arrested hours after leaving a rehab for violating a restraining order (and I believe was drunk/high at the time of her arrest) and is, to my knowledge, the only talent the WWE has refused to further foot the rehab bill for.
Writing anyone off as a lost cause seems like a dick move even if the facts seem to justify it, but either way, Hall isn't the closest thing to it at all.
It's kind of at the point I hope he does his kids and family a favor and just gets it over with. Dealing with a person like this that's a never ending problem and concern is just goddamn exhausting for everyone.
ReplyDeleteHaving known alcoholics in my family, this is absolutely true.
ReplyDeleteWhile personal responsibility is the primary thing, it's also up to these indie wrestlers who know damn well that Roberts and Hall have problems to not offer them a beer or pills because they think it would be cool to be drunk or do drugs with these guys.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if that's the case with Hall, but when Roberts relapsed it involved another wrestler giving him a few beers.
Holy shit that Kevin Owens segment was why you sift through all the shit in wrestling year after year, for amazing segments like THAT. Cena vs Owens immediately becomes the most anticipated match in the company in one segment.
ReplyDeleteLoved pretty much everything Owens did from the promo to stepping on the belt, and the announcers actually put him over as not just a bad ass but a rebellious bad ass. If Zayn is pegged to fill the Daniel Bryan role, I think Owens could help fill Punk's spot.
And one more thing: said it before, but Cena has been doing the best work of his since his prime. That promo before Owens came out was Babyface 101 and it was fucking great.
I'm still kind of shocked they've even done this well making the titles matter. I never ever thought I'd see the day where I gave a flying fuck about a US title match yet somehow...
ReplyDeleteYup. I was there at Safeco Field IN PERSON!
ReplyDeleteNO WAY SO WA god I'm tired today
ReplyDeleteWhat's amazing to me are the strides WWE has made to eliminate this from happening. Maybe not completely, because people make their own decisions and what not. But you look back at the old, classic cases. Jake, Shawn, Hall, Sunny, then more recently with Matt and Jeff Hardy. The E really has done a great job at helping to curb addiction and really help these guys and attempt to help these gals. I know there are many more wrestlers to name but that's just off the top.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has loved this segment, and I still haven't seen it....and now you're praising it. Can 4 pm hurry up already?!! Jesus.
ReplyDeleteThis. I don't blame the WWE or his friends for trying to reward the guy for mounting such an amazing comeback, but man, I can't help but think that being back around the guys you DID drink and get pilled up around during a big celebratory occasion where you know people WERE drinking didn't do Hall any favors. Then you go from there and that mindset to an Indy show where you're treated like a king and there's no one but you to moderate and supervise your behavior...
ReplyDeleteBad times.
Goddamn, dolphins are scumbags. Apparently they talk shit about other dolphins behind their back and roam the sea in packs looking for humans to savagely gang rape.
ReplyDeleteYou can't watch at work??? Whadda you work in a coal mine Matt??? Watch the segment!
ReplyDeleteWatch Matt Watch!
I would never expect anything less than dickery from a sea creature.
ReplyDelete......go on.......?
ReplyDeleteAt least he's on Raw and has a current storyline. Could be worse. He could be Zach Ryder.
ReplyDeleteSo many great stories about Belushi's babysitter "Smokie" actually going out and getting the drugs for him so that Belushi could "stay safe" at the hotel lol.
ReplyDeleteAddiction's fuckin crazy man
That's pretty scummy shit. A good friend of mine was just out of rehab and living in a sober living house and his old buddy went out to lunch with him and then after asking him how he was doing asked him if he wanted to go out to a bar "like the old days". He just walked out and called me and asked to pick him up. Personal responsibility is #1, but like you said, these guys have to get it, and realize.
ReplyDeleteThey're people. People of the sea. What did you expect?
ReplyDeleteIsn't the work day nearly over for you?
ReplyDeleteI fucking hate May 19th. Bad memories are bad.
ReplyDeleteGood point, I forgot about Tammy. For the record, I wasn't writing Hall off and I would like nothing more than for him to get better.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with climbing the ladder, in WWE, is the incessant 50/50 booking.
ReplyDeleteUnder the WWE model, if you don’t get the rocket immediately (See: The Shield), you’re fucked. They don’t push guys like they pushed Austin in 1996-97 or Rocky in 1998-99 anymore, which is why it takes dumb luck for anyone to become a star for the most part.
If they pushed KO like they’re pushing Ibushi in New Japan right now, sure, that might work, but that’s not whatWWE does. They push you for a minute, and then forget about you, it’s not sustained. To work, you can never fall into ‘just a guy’ territory. Ibushi hasn’t. He still loses to AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura, two of their biggest four stars, in big matches, but looked great against them and has beaten everyone else he’s faced since his push began, clean, including wins over big, quality opponents in the upper-midcard. If WWE did that with Owens? Great. They don’t have that kind of long term commitment to anyone. Guys just get forgotten mid-push because some new issue came up, and then they end up in ‘just a guy’ territory that’s insanely hard to recover from.
I used to hang out with this kid who had way worse problems than me to make myself feel better.... yea addiction is fucking insane!
ReplyDeleteI work in IT in a hospital, damn it! They block everything. I'm shocked that in 3 years this site hasn't been blocked yet.
ReplyDeletean hour to go!
ReplyDeleteZack Ryder's on the Z-list, so yeah, you're right.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! So you were the ugly girl that brought an even uglier girl around so you looked pretty? But the drug version?
ReplyDeleteThat's tremendous.
Yet if you look at the complaints about Reigns it wasn’t that he won too much… it was that he didn’t have enough feuds to estalibish himself.. yet your great idea is to rocket KO to the top forgoing building himself up….
ReplyDeleteLiterally there’s an article on CSS talking about how Ambrose is better off becuase he wasn’t given the Rollins rocket to the top and instead had mid card feuds and established himself and that’s why he’s a bigger face… yet you guys are saying… take KO and throw him right in the main event.. cause.. well just cause
Wow.
ReplyDeleteWell it is only mid morning here so NO SPOILERS
ReplyDeletewatch on your phone then
ReplyDeleteMy late Mums birthday so I can sympathise with that.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine it has to be hard on him hanging out with these guys you used to get plastered with. I don't know the stories but if some of his old friends introduced him to shit, and then he got addicted, and they didn't, I can only imagine that would be enough to make you want to use again. Just looking back and saying why did I end up like this and they didn't? That's rough.
ReplyDeletelol you could put it that way... but honestly i have never felt better the past 2 years. self esteem, everything has started to come back.
ReplyDeleteOverall last night was really good for the 3-hour Raw Era, but once again: goddamn the whole product would be so much better if Raw was 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteSo many guys have to get beat or come out for a hundred segments a night just because of the need to fill so much time.
Ambrose really shouldn't be losing matches while he's #1 contender, The Authority opening and closing the show with long promo segments is so channel-change-inducing, the stuff last night with Rusev and Lana could have easily been spread over two shows. 3-hour Raws just overkill everything.
That's great man. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteCongrats man. That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteThere is no time for them to actually promote content on the Network. They would have to take a break from saying, "$9.99! TWITTER! HASHTAG! SOCIAL MEDIA!" over and over. there is no time to say, "Want to see more of the guy that you've never heard of that just beat up John Cena, check on the nXt on the Network."
ReplyDeleteDay my mother died eight years ago, believe it or not.
ReplyDeleteMaybe... just MAYBE... Vince and company are starting to get wrestling fans watch because of WRESTLING. Or HHH is keeping Vince distracted with other things. Whatever works.
ReplyDeleteThank You!
ReplyDeleteOops. You forgot to switch ID's there, chief.
ReplyDeleteIf it helps, White Thunder instantly said it would lead to nothing and he'd be trading wins with Ziggler and jobbing within 3 weeks of being called up and just generally didn't enjoy it for even a second.
ReplyDeleteYes....watching on my phone would be an awesome idea if my cubicle wasn't short and you couldn't see exactly what I was doing at all times.
ReplyDeleteBut to be clear, i'm aware that i really suck
ReplyDeleteIs tha unique views or total views? I kinda Wonder how much of the traffic is commenters refreshing or readers reading. Not trying to be much of a dick here. I used to post on NPP back when it was bigger and known as scotsmanality. A big reason it is as sad as it is over there is because anytime anyone showed up they drove them off. Until it was the same 10-12 people having a circle jerk. They still had and still have bunches of lurkers but very few people who'd want to subject themselves to their bullshit. I get the same feeling over here. I like the trolls here and the differing opinion and even some of the drama it causes. Just if the same posters continue to shit all over others this place will end up just like npp.
ReplyDeleteIt's the total number. I guess i can see where you are coming from, but except from the clone troll or the usual guys from NPP pretty much anyone can express their opinion freely. Don't let a few people discourage you from posting here
ReplyDeletesdvsdsd
ReplyDelete"sdvsdsd" indeed
ReplyDeleteThat's total. As I said, I don't have the ability to look at anything else. I'm just telling you what I can see with "author" status.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mention the behavior at NPP. I got that vibe. There was a thread where Shanon took credit for driving a bunch of people off. The problem is that Disqus is pretty much self-governing so, if a mod is gone, nothing can be done about the rampant trolling. In any case, I really don't enjoy fighting with you. Just wanna get that out of the way.
We have a bunch of new people who are nice. Nice new people aren't driven off. BOC is pretty new, Cenavsortononemoretime is pretty new. People don't give shit to them because they don't constantly give shit to others.
ReplyDeleteIf you go back through my posts most of them are defending myself, there is very few times I actually have to defend an opinion.
ReplyDeleteIt was much the same there. you'll get the same type of reaction out of most any group of people really. An insular community gets an influx of new posters and the regulars rebel, or complain which seems to be what happens here. Not too keen on the person who tried to spoof my ip or posted pictures of other posters in an attempt to get me banned though.
Sorry, man. The troll account that's been copying me is just insane.
ReplyDeleteShut up
ReplyDeleteI missed the bit where your IP got spoofed. It's most likely NPP, Edwards. If it's any consolation, the troll account just got booted.
ReplyDeleteCalm down there troll
ReplyDeleteAwwwww...u mad bro?
ReplyDeletenope
ReplyDeleteu mad
ReplyDeleteIts all good.
ReplyDeleteu SO mad...and you're batshit insane to boot.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the BOD !
ReplyDeleteYeah was told like last fall someone tried to use my ip and post pictures of abeyance or something like that. Probably a troll but because of how certain people act towards me I wouldn't be surprised if it were a poster lol
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, the troll was actually more polite to me in some of his posts than anyone here has been
u mad bro ?
ReplyDeleteWORST.REVIEW.EVER
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about the other and just post your opinions dude, everything is ok
ReplyDeleteFake Marv?! Cmon you can do better. Be fake Adam curry and tell every post to eat dicks or something
ReplyDeleteNot "Fake", "Evil", big difference
ReplyDeleteI thought original Marv was Evil what with his stalking people off the boards and all
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about Syndergaard and im a mets fan. Although it's hard to keep up since I moved to England. I just thought they brought him up to replace wheeler when he went down.
ReplyDeleteAre Jericho and Foley legends in this scenario?
ReplyDeleteWhen Wheeler got hurt they plugged Gee in, and Gee recently went to the 15 day DL so they brought up Syndergaard. At this point they're either going to trade Syndergaard or trade Gee and Niese and keep Syndergaard and bring up Matz.
ReplyDeleteI'm blind !
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteThat's what she said
ReplyDeleteThat's what she said
ReplyDeleteno really bro That's what she said
ReplyDeleteThat's totally what she said.
ReplyDelete"bro" ?
ReplyDeleteWell... i'll be damned too !
ReplyDeleteSo this is how it feels to be trolled ? If only I knew beforhand !! May god have mercy on me !
ReplyDelete"sis" ?
ReplyDeleteMatt Perri ? Is that you ?
ReplyDelete
