Today is Letterman's last show and this saddens me.
ReplyDeleteGood for Del Ray,she deserves it.
ReplyDeleteShe has done great work in NXT.
ReplyDeleteFound out GFW is coming here in September. Debating getting tickets to a baseball game next week to meet Jim Duggan and Jeff Jarrett
ReplyDeleteI'll be tuning in mainly for historic reasons. I honestly hate late night talk shows.
ReplyDeleteI'm butchering the name, but Bellator guy is Jizzim now.
ReplyDeleteDel Ray is the man!
ReplyDelete....wait, what?
Take your time, Bayless! Christ, you'd think you were doing this for zero pay or something.
ReplyDeleteWHAT IS THIS? AMATEUR HOUR?!?!
She's like the anti-Bill DeMott.
ReplyDelete8pm: 4.00 million viewers
ReplyDelete9pm: 4.00 million viewers
10pm: 3.96 million viewers
Vince: Looks like no one likes Dean Ambrose!
*tosses Dean in the garbage*
Vince: OHMMMYYY WHATARIIIIDEEEE!!!
Other than going to a live taping last year, I haven't watched the show in years, I don't even have cable. But in the 90s and early oughts Letterman was an off and on regular thing for me so it's a little bit of my youth slipping away.
ReplyDelete*sniff*
Gzim... is that pronounced like Jizm?
ReplyDeleteHow long should I keep taunting the Jesus freak in the other thread?
ReplyDeleteCan't believe they rejected him. Dude was a frontrunner to win Tough Enough:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.kayfabenews.com/zack-ryders-tough-enough-audition-tape-rejected-2/
http://giphy.com/gifs/F95WSkkosQ9YQ
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad Gzim wasn't around in 99, he'd have gotten the rocket push on name alone.
ReplyDeleteThose are the most rock-solid RAW ratings in a long time -- there wasn't the usual big 3rd hour drop. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteOh, man...please fork over the link...
ReplyDeleteThe john Cena thread on the main page
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteSo our company got sold out and now they're offering every employee a $2000 bonus except the way the email is worded says that every employee still with the company at the time of sale, which means, I'm assuming, must mean a lot of people are going to lose their jobs to make this happen. They don't just hand out two stacks for nothing.
ReplyDeleteIf the shows are worth watching, people will tune in.Funny how that works out.
ReplyDeleteThat's just a nice way of saying "we're giving you $2000 so you don't feel bad about all your friends being fired"
ReplyDeleteThere was no basketball going on...they'll drop next monday because it's the conference finals
ReplyDeleteThere will probably be redundant positions in this sort of situation.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping that you're one of the 2k guys though!
New faces at the top (mostly), decent shows the past few weeks.
ReplyDeleteHope you keep your job
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is, I deal with people like that guy all the time. My sister is exactly like him. I believe he isn't a troll, because like all the folks who believe in adult make-believe, they TRULY believe it no matter what. Sociopath tendencies, obviously.
ReplyDeleteWEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL, WE HAD NO BIG SHOW!
ReplyDeleteTHERE WAS NO BIG BAD SHOW TONIIIIIIIIGHT
He reeeeeeally wants Satan "behind him"...those are some unhealthy fantasies...
ReplyDeletePushing new talent leads to better shows.
ReplyDeleteOh he does for sure.
ReplyDeleteNot shocked you deal with that sort of thing a lot... we live in the same state. Probably why it irritates me so much to see it no here too.
I am proud to have finally been promoted to Satan.
ReplyDeleteRaw has been very good the past couple of weeks. There weren't many segments that made me want to turn the channel, although no basketball game certainly helped with that.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like you can't get away from that shit.
ReplyDeleteHow much is the yearly salary for that job?
ReplyDeleteIts more of a "because you love it" type of job.
ReplyDeleteWe went Netflix/Prime almost two years ago now, and I don't miss TV one bit.
ReplyDeleteI always assume I missed the glory it of Letterman, any time I watched him in the last 15 years he just seemed to be phoning itin
ReplyDeleteYou, sir, are truly doing "the lord's work". This is so awesome to watch.
ReplyDeleteI've watched both shows this week to see what type of special bits they would do, but there hasn't been much. I was a huge Letterman fan when I was 12-13 or so. I wish Colbert the best, but Dave's don't give a fuck attitude is what really sold me on him. Even when Colbert was being "Stephen Colbert" earnestness was kind of his thing.
ReplyDeleteFunniest pat is I haven't read one word he said since the initial post.
ReplyDeleteRemember when Brock had that rampage on the post mania RaW? Good times...
ReplyDeleteAny prospects if worst case scenario?
ReplyDeleteMeh, I'll settle with him throwing a couch on the Miz.
ReplyDeleteHe created separation between Michael Cole and his shoe.
ReplyDeletePeople like that piss me off. I'm not religious, but I have nothing against people who are. My dad is a retired pastor, and he wasn't ANYTHING like that guy. My dad always looked at his job as a position of work as much as talk. All this "good deeds don't matter because you just have to accept Jesus" is fucking LAZY CHRISTIANITY for people who want to have a holier than thou attitude without actually doing anything.
ReplyDeleteLike when people I know get sick, and others say "I'll pray for you" and leave it at that. No thanks, how about showing up and helping at the fundraiser to cover the medical bills?
What would be the point. He's responding with the usual religious gibberish.
ReplyDelete"Speaking of dumb guys..."

Go Cavs! Going to have to hold off the NXT show til later. But chances are I'll have lost interest by tomorrow and won't watch the NXT show at all.
ReplyDelete"Jesus didn't tap and neither will I". That's such a good line he probably deserves to be let off now
ReplyDeleteSame. I think it is all fairytales for adults... but I don't care if you want to believe in fairytales... just know when and where to bring it up.
ReplyDelete"because like all the folks who believe in adult make-believe, they TRULY believe it no matter what. Sociopath tendencies, obviously."
ReplyDeleteI know you have an existing bias on this, but not everyone who "believes in adult make-believe" has sociopathic tendencies.
Meh I told him Jesus didn't tap because his hands had nails in them.
ReplyDeleteRooting for the Cavs. Cleveland should have its first title in forever.
ReplyDeleteNot so sure. I certainly want that to happen. But Golden State is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWho should I ban today? Hmmmmm....
ReplyDeleteWill it be.......you?? *points at the screen*
Just listened to Paul Hey man talking to Jericho and Edge, hearing him say how he used to get Cole and Tax back in to re-record commentary really explains the difference in the twos announcing years later.
ReplyDeleteJesus Didn't Tap is from an MMA shirt that is years old.
ReplyDeleteTried to listen to the JR/Mark Madden podcast earlier. Got five minutes in and gave up.
ReplyDeleteShit! How did you find out?
ReplyDeleteWell I still believe in LeeLeePhoenix, whether you think it's a fairytale or not!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of American evangelical missionaries in India who spout this nonsense. They honestly that by converting the poor in this country they're saving their souls(funnily enough, they care more about their souls rather than their mortal forms). Its why they go into areas even Indians wouldn't go,donating bibles, saying how Hinduism is a dirty, evil religion and how Christ will redeem. And the poor do convert, because what choice do they have?Continue starving?
ReplyDeleteYou're right in saying that they really believe this shit. It's sad to see.And to see Hindu organizations fall for this trap is even sadder.
(Sorry for the rant)
Night after Payback Raw with a quick build to Elimination Chamber leads to big viewership. The WWE now knows what they need to do. Run a PPV or special event every single Sunday.
ReplyDeleteShe has said that she is a "fat old housewife"
ReplyDeleteAlso not real: Santa
Real sports first, Mikey.
ReplyDeleteA smidgen of hyperbole.
ReplyDeleteBut just to be clear: if you believe in something to the point that no matter how much evidence to the contrary there is, you STILL believe in it because reasons -- that's a sociopathic tendency.
I can't stand Mark Madden; in the words of the late great Brian Pillman, Madden is "Every one of you motherfucking smart marks rolled up into one giant piece of shit!"
ReplyDelete.....Really, Nintendo?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20150520005475/en/Nintendo-America-Hires-Bowser-VP-Sales#.VVyqXfldVMG

ReplyDeleteNot me!
ReplyDeleteThe man's an idiot.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they keep you in.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but Madden is pretty terrible though.
ReplyDeleteWatching him do commentary is like watching backyard wrestlers brawl.
ReplyDeleteBan everyone in the Cena thread, it's rotten to it's very core!
ReplyDeleteI'll fall on the sword. I should really get away anyhow.
ReplyDeleteStranger!
ReplyDeleteParallax!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the good word?
GO CAVS! WIN AT BASKETBALL!
ReplyDeleteI gotta agree with MikeyMike. I've been a Cavs fan my entire life, and this is the best shot they have....but damn, GS can shoot the lights out.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could've had the Angle/Jesus match just to see Kurt snap His holy ankle.
ReplyDeleteActually I am trying to squash the good word over in the John Cena thread.
ReplyDeleteI spread the Word of God by doing different things - including preaching His Word to the unsaved people on this message board.
ReplyDeleteStart there.
Let it go dude, she doesn't look like Lana
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll attempt that, since I had no idea about it, and your very tone suggests I should check it out.
ReplyDeleteDean Ambrose should form a tag team with William Perry called The Lunatic Fridge.
ReplyDeleteI don't know man. Believing that a 2000 year old man and a magical being will punish you for eternity if you don't pledge unyielding allegiance to them is pretty fucking out there, man.
ReplyDeleteIt still makes more sense than a typical WWE documentary though.
ReplyDeleteLOL, you're a nice guy and even though I think your wrestling reviews are not as bad as John Edwards does, I think your definition of "sociopathic tendencies" is off-base. =) "extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience" is a little different.
ReplyDeletefbdfddfdf
ReplyDeleteThe Blessed Marvy
ReplyDeleteOoooh that's good, let's pretend I came up with it
ReplyDeleteOh right. Well I've been in cold storage for a while.
ReplyDeleteLol.
ReplyDeleteIs that one on Hulu or Netflix?
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Banshee is streaming yet - I think it might be on netflix
ReplyDeleteDamn. I've heard about it, wanted to check it out. Seems like my kinda fucked up.
ReplyDeleteHe was always offensive in his acts, but the Savile thing, from what I've heard, was genuine. He tried to speak to people about it - not just state it in his acts - and was shut down.
ReplyDeleteLOL you are going to hell.
ReplyDeleteMatthew 15:14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, but I moved to Halifax in '95, and I don't remember seeing Nitro until '97 or '98. Maybe I was just oblivious (wouldn't be the first time).
ReplyDeleteBut we definitely had the running water by '98. Unfortunately, it came directly from the Halifax harbour. Maybe that's why my wife tells me I glow in the dark.
I dont know. This isnt Roman Reigns. Wrestling fans tend not to be scholars as long as she stays hot I think she'll be fine. I mean we prefer her to be russian like that chick In die hard 3 with the nasty scar but perfect body, but her looks will get her past all that.
ReplyDeleteOoooh that one is close. Although I think Maria beats both of them. She almost makes me want to watch ROH. Almost.
ReplyDeleteI agree. And you think that wouldve worked with Bray and Undertaker but it didn't. I think it kinda hurt nit having UT show up until WM.
ReplyDeleteThey actually promoted that more than the Paul Heyman video. That's all you need to know about what goes on in their heads. I think even Heyman even joked about it.
ReplyDeleteRyback is another one. Loser tag team with axel. Then Survivor Series main event.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Bret Hart's bio, he was a pretty epic cheater as well.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on keeping the open challenge a regular part of Raw, no matter who's the U.S. champion. They could even make it into a 'streak' of sorts --- "Cena defended his title against 12 opponents, can the next champ break that record?"
ReplyDelete"and kick out of the AA every week."
ReplyDeleteActually, this does nothing but weaken the move and make kicking out of it seem unimportant.
The pairing with Lana also makes Dolph look like the world's biggest sucker. It's obvious she's going to dump him as soon as she realize how much Rusev cares for her. After that she dumps both Dolph and Rusev and goes off on her own.
ReplyDeleteThen they'll put her back with Rusev just in time to feature their relationship on season 5 of Total Divas.
And the 12th opponent, the streak-tying opponent, could be... John Cena. It writes stories for you!
ReplyDeleteI agree totally, the U.S. Open Challenge is a hit, and after a few weeks I'm already making sure that's part of RAW I watch, where as before I was happy to let it sit on the DVR and if I got to it, fine.
One of the things that keeps me from buying into Rusev as a serious monster heel isn't that he loses to Cena, it's that he looks JUST as goofy as Cena. He's a cartoon character, complete with goofy faces, stomping around like a child and jumping and flailing his arms around like Yosemite Sam when he gets mad.
ReplyDeleteThere was a point in the I Quit match where he looked like he was either giving birth or yelling at Ricardo Montalban.
Keep in mind, CJ "Lana" Perry is an actual actress. Sure, she wasn't exactly getting the world on fire with her roles or getting close to an Oscar anytime soon, but one wonders if she would even want to be the 'female face of WWE' given how that might impact the rest of her career. Unless, of course, she sees it as just a job and no different than getting a role on any TV show. (And the fact that she's been in developmental and is dating Rusev in real life gives her more clearer ties to the wrestling business.)
ReplyDeleteI don't think a heel turn would work for Dolph because people just latched on to his underdog "who gives his all to succeed" routine. He never really turned face, the fans turned him because they like his work and he never shuts up about it. He does need a character overhaul because he often comes off as more needy and pathetic than as someone you want to root for against the bullies.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they aren't telling the story of Ryback having never won a championship in the WWE while everyone else was a titleholder of some kind.
ReplyDeleteHeh, I think the name of her character in Pitch Perfect sums it up: "Footnote #5."
ReplyDeleteIt's funny because for the longest time I had no idea what anyone saw in Ambrose. But this ability to stay connected regardless of circumstance is definitely limited to very few ppl.
ReplyDeleteI was living near Vancouver at the time and we got it on the UHF dial without a problem. Those were the days. I never saw it once I moved to Edmonton, but that was 1989 and I think the block was long gone by then. I'm talking 87ish.
ReplyDeleteThey want to make her the next Trish Stratus, basically. We'll see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI grew up up overseas since my dad was military. From the late 80's into the early 90's we only got WWF Superstars every Saturday at 4 PM and those shows were from 9-12 months old, which sucked. Even crazier, were it not for the Apter mags and VHS rentals then there was no way to know that the N.W.A. existed.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a "thing" in the WWF/WWE that the supposed "good guy" actually does cheat when he gets the opportunity to...and yet, he doesn't turn heel by doing so. The crowd cheers because the guy they want to win does win--and it's often justified by "he's just fighting fire with fire" but it's always been weird to me...from back in the Hogan days to now...that the overall moral statement of this company is "there are good guys and bad guys but everybody cheats."
ReplyDeleteAh, that explains it. One more reason why living in Alberta sucked the meat missle.
ReplyDeleteThis thread is so much Wheels Ontario from Kroll Show.
ReplyDelete
