  1. He should be working with guys they want to groom as future main eventers.

    ReplyDelete
  2. I don't this vibe from him at all. This is the guy that requested to be carried out kicking and screaming the first time he left.

    ReplyDelete
  3. In one way he was a Nick Bockwinkel tribute act, but that was actually brilliant because nobody since Flair really ran with a Bock influence.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Exactly. Having him back on the loop is crazy valuable to the talent there, I think people are missing that in favor of hating on Jericho for....whatever reason I still can't quite figure out what happened in the last few months.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I personally wanted the new movies to be film versions of the Heir trilogy. Best (read: only good) SW books out there.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Giving Reigns an extended run against Jericho on house shows would do an insane amount for his development.

Not expecting anything shocking from the GFW roster reveal, but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  8. He's an office shill, basically. His podcast sucks, but there are wrestlers much more worth the hate.

    ReplyDelete
  9. not really, he was just doing house shows last time, I think he is kind of relaxed in what he does and he just kind of does what he wants to do

    ReplyDelete
  10. Because nobody's gonna boo him. He's reached that age where you become a treasured dude from the good ol' days that is always gonna be cheered. Shawn Michaels could murder an entire row of children and still be cheered for this very reason.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Maybe we will find out that Chris Harris is still alive and will be part of the roster.

A few NJPW guys, a few GPW guys, a few ROH guys.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah I don't get that either, the episode with Lance...they basically ran down Extreme Rules and their opinions were essentially note for note the consensus here. They thought all the same stuff was bad (which was most of the PPV) and all the same stuff was good (tag match, Roman/Show)

People can pick his brain and learn from an all time great.

    ReplyDelete
  15. True. You immediately know why he's there, so beating him isn't as big a deal as it would be if he wrestled full-time.

Still, good for him for being able to stop in periodically, do what he's always loved doing, and getting paid for it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:27 AM

Yeah, I don't see this. I'm not a huge Jericho fan anymore, but he's never struck me as a demanding guy at all. He jobbed to Fandango, for christ's sake.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Darth Dr. Facts VaderMay 5, 2015 at 8:27 AM

I am interested in this Global Force Wrestling deal. I hope Jarret uses the guys who announce the NJPW AXS TV Show to do commentary for Global Force Wrestling.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Really hoping there's gonna be a women's division, but not holding my breath on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Knock knock.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yeah I don't mean it like he's demanding or wants to go over anyone, just that he seems to like working with up and comers (Fandango at the time) or the new hotness (Wyatt) whenever he shows up

    ReplyDelete
  21. The Lanny Poffo YouShoot seems entertaining

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lance has a lot of the same criticisms of shitty internet fans that Jericho has, but it feels like he's a lot more reasoned and fair than Jericho. Jericho can be all "shut up and eat your pine cone"; Lance pretty astutely pointed out that WWE booking evil corporate bosses all these years partially convinced the fans to distrust the real leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I did a little googling and on his last house show tour he apparently did matches with Cesaro and Harper

    ReplyDelete
  24. Burt Macklin, Man Without FearMay 5, 2015 at 8:29 AM

Of anybody to learn from I think Jericho is the best for today's roster and especially with today's creative.

Jericho is the master of doing something ANYTHING interesting and getting the most out of even a 3 minute segment to get himself over and show personality. And we're in an era of lots of midcarders are getting 3 minutes to show themselves. Jericho could teach them how to maximize that time and get the most out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:30 AM

As long as he doesn't rhyme in it, we're good.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You mean the same guy who immediately called Vince to pitch a WM match with Punk after the pipe bomb promo?

    ReplyDelete
  27. That was indeed odd. The Clone Wars were this really great idea that ended up being used as a backdrop.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:30 AM

    Chris Harris IS STILL ALIVE???!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh I'm not going to argue I like Lance's thoughts more lol

Just saying like...if he's a total shill it's a weird shilling that agrees with the BoD more often than not

    ReplyDelete
  30. Storm is definitely a bit of an anti-smark but doesn't knee-jerk defend the WWE ever. He calls it how he sees it. I remember him being pretty vocal back in 2013 about how he didn't think Daniel Bryan should be The Guy.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Took a Febreze shower, ready for people to start showing up haha

    ReplyDelete
  32. If I read this post in a mirror...it's good.

    ReplyDelete
  33. A program with Cesaro would be cool though I guess he's tied up at the moment, Harper I can't really get excited about at the moment (zero character progress since he left the Wyatts)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

Without Jericho who the hell does Punk work with at Mania 28? Punk vs. Nash!

    ReplyDelete
  44. He completely let himself go by the time he got to the WWE. Dude gained a ton of weight in the midsection and could barely even move.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Jericho's the kind of guy who would call Vince and demand to job to Wade Barrett.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:34 AM

I totally agree with this.Jericho teaching the roster how to show emotion, put together an interview and tell an actual story is something he should be doing.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've kept a toothbrush here for years at least my breath is spectacular!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jericho knows that the TV writers are where creative ideas go to die. So he'd rather do house shows tours and entertain fans the way he wants to entertain.

I say good for him, except it's a shame that he can't be as creative as he wants to be on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Didn't see Raw. Who's Zayn and what is his crazy entrance where he injures a shoulder?

    Or is he Sin Cara?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I feel like if we do it now this well set precedence and lead us into a highly abusive relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Zayne injuring himself like that is no different than the time Orton injured himself doing that pounding the mat taunt he does before the RKO.

    ReplyDelete
  57. That was epic!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I know I'm completely crazy, but I keep expecting Goldberg to be part of GFW, just for maybe the first PPV.

I know he's wanted crazy money from WWE to come back, but maybe he'd do it to stick it to Triple H/Vince. He's recently said he plans on wrestling again, just not for WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Buffalo HopscotchMay 5, 2015 at 8:40 AM

You'd think they'd be able to piece together a good division from the indies, but no idea if that's a priority for them or not.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:41 AM

    .....and there we are.

  70. Get in the ring and play the damn cowbell and introduce the Egypt character. People will be throwing chairs at him.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Buffalo HopscotchMay 5, 2015 at 8:42 AM

That'd be a massive coup for them, but I'm guessing Goldberg's #1 motivation is $, $ that Jarrett doesn't likely have. If you could get him on a Lesnar deal, where he just shows up occasionally as a big deal, that'd work well.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Given Zayn wrestled yesterday, is it fair to assume he and Owens could film an angle to explain his likely absence from Takeover? Film something and make out like it happened last night, as though a fan filmed the confrontation on their phone.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Jeff Jarrett talking - THAT'S how you generate interest in a company.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The FDNY is hiring a woman who has never passed the physical exam because De Blasio said the Department needs more women. What a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Maybe Double J can get a fake Chinese energy drink company to back him as well.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm waiting for Jarrett to announce himself as the inaugural GFW World Heavyweight Champion.

    ReplyDelete
  77. While I understand that there are legitimate circumstances in which women and men should have different standards, I always found it ridiculous in regards to the fire department physical fitness test. It's like, if somebody needs to be rescued on the 10th floor, they're kinda shit out of luck if a female is on duty that night.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anybody got any recommendations for a really, really comfortable shoe?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:49 AM

    Well, that's a given.

    ReplyDelete
  80. What kind of shoe do you need? Tennis shoe? Dress shoe?

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm watching the Cena/Zayn segment from last night. I didn't even know Bret or Heath Slater (??) were a part of this.

Why the hell is Slater still coming out to the "Three Man Band" theme if he's back to being a One Man Band, bay-bah?

    ReplyDelete
  82. It depends if there's a big money mark behind this. Being based in Vegas I could see some guy with a few extra million lying around thinking that bringing Goldberg in would be a worthy investment.

    ReplyDelete
  83. In the department history, 70% of all female FFs end their careers on lifetime disability. The craziest part of this story is that there are 2 other women in the academy class who have passed with flying colors, and this woman has already sued once to get a civilian FDNY position.

    ReplyDelete
  84. If she's struggling to overpower or catch up with a suspect she could ust shoot him though

    ReplyDelete
  85. Casual, every day shoe.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Wrestling shoes. They are awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:50 AM

    Stilleto.

    ReplyDelete
  88. So I just paid for my new siding, and this two-bit operation doesn't take Amex. Sad...

    ReplyDelete
  89. She'll demand equal pay though.

    ReplyDelete
  90. 50/50 equality in all jobs is very important. I presume the
campaign for more garbagewomen has a lot of support.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Out of curiosity, how many of the men end their careers on a lifetime disability?

And that's ridiculous that she was taken over women who actually passed the exams.

    ReplyDelete
  92. So these: http://www.skechers.com/style/53590/skechers-gowalk-2/BBK

    or these: http://www.boscovs.com/shop/prod/deer-stags-manager-work-loafers-black/93338.htm?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=CSE&utm_term=93338&utm_content=Shoes+%3E+Mens+Shoes+%3E+Mens+Athletic+Shoes+%26+Sneakers+%3E+Mens+Work+Shoes&utm_campaign=CSE&cid=CSE:Google

    ReplyDelete
  93. It really should be if they want to position themselves as a legit alternative - look for areas where the WWE is weak and be great at those. Seriously, the level of female talent on the indie scene right now is incredible. You could take a quarter of the Shimmer roster and make a great division from just that.

    ReplyDelete
  94. He tagged with Matt Hardy in TNA a little while back. I remember because someone on here dubbed them America's Least Wanted, which made me happy

    ReplyDelete
  95. Not going to read the whole thread, did the people who were 100% sure that Sami was working the shoulder admit they were wrong? Some were kinda being dicks about it.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Fire Departments can shoot people? That hasn't been done since the 60's.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 8:56 AM

This seems like something to care about.

    ReplyDelete
  98. 57% with a majority of them just granted lifetime disability recently after proving lung issues from being at Ground Zero without any breathing aids.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Huh. I did not read the original post properly. But they should be able to shoot at fires, yes.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I would be terrified if an NYC firefighter was shooting at me. This isn't Compton.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I haven't read the story yet, but living in Brooklyn, De Blasio is not that popular. He keeps making goofy decisions with the police that don't please anyone. The police then take it out on the population. He's definitely not going to be re-elected.

    ReplyDelete
  102. People being dicks in the live thread?

    Unpossible!

    ReplyDelete
  103. So more than half? Doesn't sound like the disability is a gender issue, but the job itself tends to be hazardous. Which, you know, firefighting. I'm not surprised there.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Just out of curiosity, how many of those women had the same issue? Or were women not generally hired until after 9/11?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Because the WWE doesn't care about Slater, which is sad. He's hilarious and has way more charisma than most of the roster. There's so much they could do with him if they wanted to.

    ReplyDelete
  106. He might have the single worst look in WWE history.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I think he's saying if not for 9/11, that number might be as low as 30%.

    ReplyDelete
  108. For every day shoes, I've been wearing Sketchers Go2Walk shoes and Sanuk slip ons. The Sanuk ones are really, really comfortable and can work for a business casual look.

    ReplyDelete
  109. He was also booed at every parade and event he's been to, as well as the first game of the season at CitiField. You should demand a recall. But what did we really expect from a guy who's platform was "Look at my black son, I understand the City dynamics"

    ReplyDelete
  110. GFW needs sponsor money.

Gibson Guitars Present Global Force Wrestling!

    ReplyDelete
  111. In all fairness, when he ran...the police had that stupid stop and frisk thing and there were also problems with 911 response times. He ran on a platform of fixing those things and then just made them much, much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  112. So will the GFW roster be essentially the recent TNA castoffs (Team 3D, Christopher Daniels, etc.), ROH castoffs (Shelton Benjamin), and guys who work Japan that don't have a U.S. base?

I'm hoping it involves Scott Steiner. I truly miss Scott Steiner promos in wrestling. I know he did a commercial for the GFW NJPW PPV broadcast, so I'm sure he's involved in some way.

    ReplyDelete
  113. The Baltimore PD and fire marshall's arrested that idiot who was cutting the fire hose in B-More during the inaugural Freddie Gray Memorial Riots. I believe the fire officials in big cities can carry firearms.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yeah, I've got a pair of gowalk2s I'm looking at now.

    ReplyDelete
  115. So TNA's China tour has been cancelled, though it was never officially announced.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Also included in that 57% is 50 FFs who just admitted to defrauding the gov't with false disability claims, but yea over half.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Belee_Matt!_INDEED!!!May 5, 2015 at 9:03 AM

  119. http://nypost.com/2015/02/22/seventy-percent-of-fdnys-females-are-retiring-on-disability/

Says here the number of males is 63%.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Women had been hired, but many more after 9/11 since they had to replace 343 people who died, then others who retired from PTSD and health issues.

    ReplyDelete
  121. What about their Chyna tour? You know, where she invites them to her house for a BBQ?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Also, FWIW the number of retired FFs in the FDNY is over 15,000 men and 41 women. So there is quite a disparity.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Let's all hope for AJ Styles!

    ReplyDelete
  124. But that in itself is actually a strangely effective selling-point.

The way he was used in the run-up to Raw 1000, working with the legends and putting them over, was perfect for him, and I honestly expected him to get a little push as a reward for that.

They really should have turned 3MB face, too - people WANTED to cheer them.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yeah, the world needs a cure for insomnia.

    ReplyDelete
  133. 3MB could have been great face comedy jobbers.

My hope for them was McIntyre and Davari would figure things out and start interfering for Slater and he'd start winning matches and become totally delusional. But the WWE doesn't seem to know how to book anyone....

    ReplyDelete
  134. For women, 73% get disability, 70% for job related injuries.

    ReplyDelete

  141. Oh wow, that's fucking golden!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I think it's going to be a healthy mix of TNA cast-offs and current ROH guys with maybe some NJPW guys in the mix. This thing is going to live and die based on their relationship with ROH since NJPW is solidly behind ROH right now.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I try to avoid the live threads for that reason. People get all hyped up on emotions and say dumb things.

I interviewed the guy who played Clem, Jewel Staite from Firefly and the actress who played Jenny Calendar.

This doesn't sound that impressive when typing it out.

  158. he got elected on something like 20% turnout, it's not like he had a popular support base to begin with.

  159. I remember at least in the 80s and 90s fire marshalls and fire inspectors did since they would go into housing projects and less than safe environments to do their job. That was the reasoning at least.

Bloomberg is one of the few Republicans I like.

    ReplyDelete
  162. That's pretty cool! Next time I'd just write "I interviewed various cast members!" though and leave the names out

    ReplyDelete
  163. DeBlasio wasn't even all that popular to begin with. Republicans knew it wasn't their election to win and put up a tomato can, who nobody bothered to show up to vote for. DeBlasio ended up winning with a record low 24% turnout. As a result, not even 18% of the city's registered voters voted for him.

Think about that: 80% of the city's registered voters didn't actually vote for the guy. That's pretty staggering.

  169. You're right. I think it's a mix of both. I've scrolled through some people yelling some incredibly dumb things and then getting into fights over it, though.

  170. It's also interesting the difference in tactics between the B-More FD and Ferguson FD. In Ferguson the chief said if you're going to burn your own cities and throw rocks at our guys we'll let it burn. In B-More the chief just had the PD protect them after a guy was hit with a brick. PROGRESS!

    2008: Obama got 32.58% vs McCain's 28.15%
    2004: Bush got 30.47% vs Kerry's 29.02%
    2000: Bush got 25.96% vs Gore's 26.23%
    1996: Clinton got 24.10% vs Dole's 19.94% (Perot got 4.11%)
    1992: Clinton got 23.73% vs Bush's 20.70% (Perot got 10.43%)
    1988: Bush got 26.80% vs Dukakis' 22.94%
    1984: Reagan got 31.22% vs Mondale's 21.55%
    1980: Reagan got 26.72% vs Carter's 21.56%
