  13. Going to finally have an old RoH review up tonight as I review Bitter Friends, Stiffer Enemies

Batista vs Brock is still a thing that should happen on ppv

    ReplyDelete
  15. Meh. 10 years too late.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Corino/Homicide was an awesome match. Total bloodbath.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I got some of Corino's blood on my ticket

    ReplyDelete
  18. Even working from home these 60 hour weeks suck. This upcoming California excursion is going to be great.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Not a bad show. Some of the undercard stuff was underwhelming but the 1st Joe vs. Punk match was decent as was Xavier/Daniels. The scramble match stuff just doesnt hold up well at all.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It was always fun live. The Lo Ki Maff ending was awkward especially since it was my last live ROH show for four months

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah, that wasnt all that great. Even the 20 replays from a few different angles watching on DVD didnt sell me much. Not much of a Maff fan anyway but at least he improved at that point.

    ReplyDelete
  22. where are you going in california?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Going to see Rise Against in a couple hours. Pumped.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm doing a circuit from Fresno to SF to LA to see family and friends, a couple ballparks, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hulu is getting worse with ads. In one 45 minute show they had five ad breaks, some of which had 2 and even 3 ads consecutively.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I gave up my subscription with them. Was not impressed with the service.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Off for my small Treat Yo Self day, Ex Machina then dinner at this nice Mexican place near the theater, then back to it for Mad Max

  29. Main villain has a guy under his employ whose sole job is to ride around in his caravan and play a flame throwing guitar.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I glimpsed that dude in the trailer and for a lack of a better word, fuckin bitchin

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm not one to complain about it normally when it's usually a couple of 15 second ads... But I'm paying for this...

    ReplyDelete
  32. This sliders episode has them in a world where dinosaurs are still alive so do we get any action packed scenes if them running around avoiding t-rexs or raptors ala jurassic park? Nope. 90% of this episode is spent with the gang sitting inside an empty cave.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think it depends on the show and the contract negotiated. For example, Blacklist regularly has 4-5 ads at a time, but Flash normally has two. I also look at it as paying for the streaming service and all its content, not ad free programs.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just finished the HBO documentary on the Cannibal Cop. Ewwww.

    ReplyDelete
  35. TV budgets are not the same as film budgets. Especially in the 90's.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Uh...are we sure that title isn't attached to a porn film?

    ReplyDelete
  37. They obviously spared an expense.

    ReplyDelete
  38. So...he was a cop who ate people?

    Nuthin gets by me.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Giancarlo Stanton hit one over that HR celebration thingy in Marlins Park, days after going over and out at Dodger Stadium. Unreal

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hammond was a fucking liar. Spared no expense...except on security, door locks, fail safe systems, staffing...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Actually he spent money on all those things, it was Nedry fucking shit up, not the security failing.

    ReplyDelete
  42. That's because in the book, he was the villain.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm sure if those people had cooperated fully and minded their P's & Q's he wouldn't have eaten them.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Did he like dark meat or white meat?

    ReplyDelete
  45. But even then there were only like five people in the server room watching the whole park. And like three wardens on the field.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I wished they kept it that way (I've read it) as opposed to the misguided fool in the movie

    ReplyDelete
  47. Because 1. the park wasn't open. 2. most of the personal left the island because of the storm.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Was a really cool book. Dude had some great stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The amount of people that actually give a shit what led to the downfall of WCW is so miniscule that it doesn't really matter. He also says it in things like shoot interviews and legends of the round table where like 1 percent of the audience hear it.

  51. If anyone's up for a beatdown, GGG is fighting some guy tonight on HBO in a few hours. He should end the show in about 5 or 6 rounds.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Only 41 million for Mad Max this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Stranger in the AlpsMay 16, 2015 at 4:05 PM

Just came across some '87 World Championship Wrestling episodes. Does anyone remember the angle where Jim Cornette lit a fireball in Ronnie Garvin's face, which led to Jimmy Garvin turning babyface?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wikipedia puts the budget at $150 million. I suppose it may still make that in theaters; should actually turn a profit when it hits home video.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Pitch perfect 2 is destroying them

    ReplyDelete
  56. Vaguely. I remember Jimmy running into the locker room and going nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  57. So... In honor of tomorrow's ppv, should we do a May ppv tonight?

    I nominate Judgment Day 2000.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ...

    damn.

Yet, oddly enough, if I had to choose between those two films, I would go with Pitch Perfect 2. I thought the first one was ok, and I'm not exactly a fan of the Max Max films. Haven't seen them, actually.

    ReplyDelete
  59. HA! One of the girls has a weight problem! I haven't laughed this much since Paul Blart 2! People suck at liking comedy.

  60. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:13 PM

I don't think we should be honoring that stink pile called a PPV tomorrow.

But I like where your head is at nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:13 PM

    That's a bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That's the Iron Man Match, right?

That's a really damn good show.

    ReplyDelete
  63. WWE is really lucky I work from home and need background noise.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes sir. Plus the Radicalz in a triple threat and Benoit/Jericho submission match.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:14 PM

Problem is you need to double the budget to be profitable. So just making $150 ain't gonna cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:15 PM

That submission match is crazy underrated. Or maybe it's properly rated, idk how it's rated but it's really awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Honoring is a bad choice of words, but you know what I meant.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:17 PM

In order to besmirch that PPV tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Watching through some Attitude Era stuff, two matches or feuds I really wish we had gotten but the timing didn't work out are Ken Shamrock vs. Kurt Angle and Owen Hart vs. Kurt Angle. Both would have been tremendous.

I know, I got upset seeing those numbers.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Stranger in the AlpsMay 16, 2015 at 4:21 PM

I also have come across the episode of World Wide where Garvin beats Flair for the title.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Does that include today's numbers?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I've read and heard a few times that plenty of films hope to break even in theaters, and then make money in the home video market. I doubt that's what these folks had in mind, but I'd say there's still hope.

    ReplyDelete
  74. It's estimated.

    ReplyDelete
  75. He'll be one of the all time best to never win the big one.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jimmy Garvin wasn't so gorgeous, looking back.

    ReplyDelete
  77. So...it's either underrated or properly rated. Well said. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  78. American Pharoah just dominated. Damn.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Was just about to make a Meltzer joke, fuck you.

    ReplyDelete
  81. The outrage when cops shoot people. Imagine cannibalism?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Damn as in, damn that was impressive. Not damn I just bet the house and lost.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Just don't mess with a dog and everything will be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Stranger in the AlpsMay 16, 2015 at 4:25 PM

I was in the grocery store today and I saw two girls, probably no older than 12 or 13, pick up and analyze the Fifty Shades of Grey DVD.

Is this really something that pre-teens are interested in? Or this like when us guys would check out Skinemax when everyone was gone to bed?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:25 PM

S'okay Bobby. Someday you'll get on my level.

  87. Should do well overseas and can hopefully make up some ground

    ReplyDelete
  88. Stranger in the AlpsMay 16, 2015 at 4:27 PM

That movie isn't bad because of what's in it.

    It's bad because it's a horrible film.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Ahh, nothing like a good supermarket bodice-ripper. Those $10 words like "undulating", the silly plots....

    ReplyDelete
  90. That's a pretty good turnout for a franchise that's been dead for three decades; it's just a really hard sell as a hard-R action movie. There's only so much ceiling for that.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I have utterly no desire to see it, and I'm a kinky man.

    ReplyDelete
  92. It's incredibly tame. You'll see harder stuff on Game of Thrones

    ReplyDelete
  93. I forgot how big the AWA rings were.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Even before the storm, there's no one there. There's like two other people in the room when Sam Jackson tells everyone to haul ass

    ReplyDelete
  95. Not surprising. Also out on that show, btw.

But, fucking 50 Shades started out as Twilight fan fiction. I'd rather read WWE Creative scripts.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  104. Does anyone know if they censored any fan signs on the 1998 RAW episodes they posted to the Network? It seems like every show had a "[Insert name of friend] IS GAY!" poster.

    ReplyDelete
  105. The only thing I remember about AWA was watching just a bit on ESPN. I can recall The Midnight Rockers and The Destruction Crew. Larry. I think that's about it.

God I miss the late 90's.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  109. Quick, another recent comedy. You guys are 3/3 so far with Pain & Gain and the two Jump Street movies.

  114. I was sold on most of those NWA guys by their music. So if I watched them for the first time on the Network, I would probably think they all suck.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Well, that removes any reason for me to answer. I couldn't get through the first and had no desire to see the other two.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:35 PM

Nope. You put way too much pressure on this recommendation with the 3/3 claim. Not gonna do it.

    ReplyDelete
  117. ThebrazilianpsychoMay 16, 2015 at 4:35 PM

What are your thoughts on Pain & Gain?

    I thought it was great.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Ah, that's probably it. Someone had a "Clinton 3:16" sign on the last RAW I watched (which I'll post a recap for on Tuesday) and I found that really funny because that's not something I expected to see.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:35 PM

LOL I like it. Straight to the point.

    ReplyDelete
  120. That was what I saw as a kid. It was so different from the WWF at the time. I loved the Crew, Badd Co. and Midnight Rockers. There's also a kickass hour-long Bockwinkel - Hennig I still watch from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Utterly absurd and hilarious. Rock stole the show.

    ReplyDelete
  122. There are definitely more people. You see a quick scene and there is a line of dialogue about people going to the docks. Plus, remember all the scientists in the lab?

    ReplyDelete
  123. So judgment day 2000 at say... 7?

    ReplyDelete
  124. I do.

Do you remember when Ric Flair got to third base with a mannequin?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Oh, yeah. Badd Co. They were fun.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  128. The hell...you two have a bet? Details, please.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I lived in a pretty sweet spot for wrestling. Since St. Louis was the "capital" of the NWA Vince, Crockett and Verne went hard as SLWC was dying. On a good weather day I even got Memphis.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I love Bob Carpenter's baseball scorebook, but it takes me about 30-40 minutes to setup a game in it before I proceed to watch it (but part of that's due to me wanting to note all kinds of small things). Looking forward to Yanks-Royals tonight

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  132. So, you're saying you're not much of one for pressure shots, so to speak.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I wonder what happened to that loudmouth manager.

    ReplyDelete
  134. ThebrazilianpsychoMay 16, 2015 at 4:37 PM

I love how they used Gangstas Paradise in the end credits.

    ReplyDelete
  135. That's not very clutch, Macklin

    ReplyDelete
  136. I must have totally missed the point of the film. I just didn't get it on any level.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:38 PM

    Macklin, Man Without Clutch.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Hey, another successful Catfish. Only reason the guy was being secretive was because he was ashamed he lived in a trailer.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I can't remember the last time a PPV felt as irrelevant as tommorrow's.

HeavyWeight Title 4-way match - Rollins will almost certainly win after Authority Run in, just like last PPV

Rusev vs Cena - Cena isn't quiting
New Day vs Team brass wing - New day is gonna to win of course
Sheamus vs Ziggler - Sheamus is probably winning
King Barrett vs Nevile - Barett's probably winning continuing his KOTR push
Wyatt vs Ryabck - Who cares?
    No IC title match

Essentially nothing feels important at this PPV and it seems like almost certainly no issue will be settled and everything will be the same on Monday as it is today. Several of these matches are rehashes. A few of these matches could certainly be good, but why is this worthy of a PPV?

    ReplyDelete
  140. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:38 PM

I guess it went over your head. Which means you are no Drax.

    ReplyDelete
  141. So, you don't drive a stick much?

    (innuendo intended)

    ReplyDelete
  142. So it would seem.

I seriously just wasn't entertained by the first half or so. Turned that shit off.

    ReplyDelete
  143. We didn't have Cinemax, but I discovered that when I tuned the VCR just right, I could sort of record a viewable dub.

    ReplyDelete
  144. In the network era? Absolutely. There is a lot of good shit on that card.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Whatever time zone is normally used for these things.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Thanks to the NYC spanish channels (of all places), I was able to get Championship Wrestling from Florida, Mid Atlantic and Los Angeles. Since I was a UHF safecracker as a kid, if I got an out of state channel that had wrestling, it was always WWF.

    ReplyDelete
  147. The company has just become so incompetent building anything except WrestleMania (and they are even showing signs of cracks doing that now - look at this years mediocre build for some matches). As someone noted earlier today, even if you want to do "showcase" matches on RAW, let those things only run for 5-6 mins or bait and switch people.

    ReplyDelete
  148. That's why they gave us Elimination Chamber, too. Even WWE knows how worthless tomorrow's show is.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:40 PM

I've been known to make a stick shift once or twice.

  150. You might try... I don't know... Due Date?

    ReplyDelete
  151. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:41 PM

Let's see if anyone else trickles in before we set a time but I'm in.

  152. Trained by a snake, ended up pitching yoga.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Sells yoga now. I saw an infomercial for it with Jake Roberts singing its praises.

    ReplyDelete
  154. ...and...I'm just gonna let that one die.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Bockwinkel was 52 years old for that Hennig match. Amazing. If he was younger, the Million Dollar Man gimmick would have been perfect for him. Wrong place, wrong time.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Hoss... you gotta check out The Road Warrior. You basically get the whole 1st movie in the first 1:30 of it. I liked watching Mad Max almost as a prequel, I think it works better.

    ReplyDelete
  157. That has me on guard. You never know when a PPV is gonna be awesome out of nowhere. Going in, WM31 looked like it was gonna be in the bottom 25% percentile for WMs but it ended up being one of the greatest of all time. Who would have guessed it. Maybe we will get 3 **** at this PPV. It seems really random anymore when things like that happen.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:45 PM

Barrett/Neville and Sheamus/Ziggler seem like they could be very fun.

But this one is a skip for me.

    ReplyDelete
  159. On the plus side most of those matches should be pretty good. I hope they start using some of these B PPVs for angles.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Schindler's List?

    Oh, wait, you said recent....

    (I'm so sorry.....)

    ReplyDelete
  161. The last time a PPV was as irrelevant? Post WM PPV, and every other PPV outside of Summerslam, Royal Rumble, and WM.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Greatest of all time? Can't say I'm with you on that. The main event delivered, and there was the moment with Rousey; aside from that, it was largely average to forgettable for me.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:46 PM

Best case scenario I think the 4 Way, Ziggler/Sheamus and Neville/Barrett could max out at **** but that would have to be a hell of a night.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Isn't this just copied and pasted from every ppv the last 15 years? I could have sworn last month was the most irrelevant ppv. And I also thought that this exact same thing was said about mania and everyone left that show with lots of praise.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Eh. I may netflix it or something at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Preteens are on the internet. Fifty Shades is all over the internet. Yeah, preteens will be curious.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Can't be; no mention of BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK body drops.

    ReplyDelete
  169. One of the greatest, not the greatest which is of course 17, with 19 close behind. I'd probably rank it about 7th or 8th of all time. Its not just the match quality. The booking felt perfect from beginning to end. And it had one of my favorite endings of any WM ever. There simply wasn't anything about it, and few things really great, which makes for a fantastic show.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 16, 2015 at 4:48 PM

Judgment Day 2000 sound nice to anyone else? Already me and Bobby in. We're two pretty cool cats.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Yardwork, man. I never thought I'd be spending so much of my hard earned money on dirt, grass, and water.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Cena Rusev can be **** as well, but you're right, that would take one hell of a night. But its always possible, even on a show that looks like complete shit going in.
