  1. What was the deal with the New Year's Revolution PPVs? Seems like weird time to run a PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Get Raw another PPV during the brand split?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Mixed on NBC's fall schedule. Really don't like the idea of them basically killing comedy. Modern Family was supposed to be the sitcom's big comeback and it just hasn't been.

All the reliance on "sequels" just screams desperation

  4. Jeez. A little rain on the Thruway and everybody becomes a pussy.

    ReplyDelete
  5. As long as they don't fuck with Hannibal, they can do what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hannibal's fate is TBD but that's because of the international arrangements with the show.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The Indians are playing well today. I don't understand this concept.

So where do you guys think Infinity War 1 leaves off and Part 2 picks up? Who is dead by the end of IW1?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:35 PM

I'm guessing you get Thanos appearances in GotG2 and maybe a reference in Dr. Strange, but doubt we get to see him in action until Thor: Ragnarok. I'm pretty sure he kills Thor and the other gods to set him up as the unbeatable monster for Infinity War.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thor is definitely going to be in IW2.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Iron Man and his team get fucked up. Cap returns in IW2.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think there is gonna be some hunky muscle dudes doing super things...and good actors with powers doing evil thing ...by the end of the Infinity war movies..the good guys will probably win

    ReplyDelete
  13. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:37 PM

Makes sense. You think the Guardians survive the second movie? While a team-up with the Avengers sounds great in the cinematic sense, I can also see them being cannon fodder for Thanos, once GotG2 has raked in more millions

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:38 PM

Did they already put the IW2 cast out?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Not sure, but I personally liked the effort and the title. Also fit well to have the Elimination Chamber on there.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Guardians are too popular to be killed off

    ReplyDelete
  17. Not a good sign for TNA:

"Friday's TNA Impact Wrestling tapings in Orlando were packed but many fans left after the Destination America airing was over, before the second taping began. It was said to be hard for the wrestlers to get big reactions from the crowd."

  18. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:41 PM

So it would seem that Civil War leaves the Cap vs. Stark teams still at odds, then the events of Infinity War 1 draw them back together in the end, and IW2 reunites them all for the final defeat of Thanos.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Half of those who left were crew members who are still waiting on checks

    ReplyDelete
  20. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:42 PM

So you thinking a third GotG movie?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes. Also don't forget about merchandising. They are way too popular

    ReplyDelete
  22. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:43 PM

I will be real interested to see how well "Inhumans" does by that point. Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy seem to have that market cornered, so hopefully it's not tired out by the time Inhumans rolls around. How do you make it feel different than the other team-up movies?

    ReplyDelete
  23. The idea was that with the brand split, Raw would go from Survivor Series to the Rumble without any PPV show to build towards and with the Rumble having very little undercard, they needed something to focus their story on.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Does stark come back after civil war?

    ReplyDelete
  25. nobody knew who the guardians were and the movie was huge so with great casting and great execution it should do fine if the Marvel brand is as strong as it is now.

    ReplyDelete
  26. They were just going nuts with PPV's back then. I think they wanted one every 3 weeks if they could've.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:45 PM

I would think the Cap-Stark camps stay separate at the end of Civil War. Maybe one or the other (Cap or Stark) doesn't even appear in Infinity War 1. But I think the idea in Infinity War 2 will be the whole crew reuniting to defeat Thanos

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thankfully 05 had that really good chamber match because the rest of that show was trash. The problem with having a Chamber with the brand split is there isn't much depth for matches on the undercard.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:46 PM

I don't think killing them off in one of the movies necessarily ruins their marketability. I mean, if there isn't going to be a third or fourth movie, why not let them be martyred in the name of a bigger Avengers pay off?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Age of ultron was a good movie but I wouldn't rewatch it again. Best scene was when all the avengers tried to pick up the hammer

    ReplyDelete
  31. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:47 PM

Oh I agree. There is no reason to doubt them, especially after GotG did so well as a "C-list" brand. I just hope the whole idea of superhero team-up movies isn't exhausted by then.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Macklin, Man Without FearMay 10, 2015 at 12:48 PM

Agree that was my favorite scene. Then they had to go and ruin it later.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think as long as marvel makes good movies that won't happen. Bad DC movies in the past hasn't hurt them so even if DC shits the bed they should still do well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:49 PM

Is there really anything compelling about a Justice League movie at this point? Even if they go with the JLA teaming up to face Darkseid or Doomsday, it's basically just the same idea as the X-Men vs. Apocalypse or the Avengers vs. Thanos, both of which will have been done (10x better) by then. DC as a movie powerhouse just isn't a thing, outside of Christopher Nolan

    ReplyDelete
  35. Do guardians appear in infinity war?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:50 PM

I think so. Especially if the Avengers' team is still divided (after Civil War), it would be cool to fill in some gaps with the Guardians making an appearance

    ReplyDelete
  37. Last i heard there was no current plans to have the GOTG cross over in the phase

    ReplyDelete

Happy Mother's Day to all the BoD regulars and their mommas.

  41. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:54 PM

Once Infinity War and Age of Apocalypse have resolved, if the Marvel and Fox properties are still selling like crazy, would it be worth doing a "Decimation / House of M" type story arc? Maybe two movies? There will presumably be no "mutant" or X-Men connection for MCU, but the Fox folks could probably pull it off in their X-Men universe

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was reading Scott's review of NYR 05 and he mentions that there was a plan in place for Edge to replace HBK in the original Chamber Match after being attacked by HHH. Edge would effectively join the Raw brand and they would have put the belt on him.

Not so sure I buy that.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The film with Jack Black?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Macklin, Man Without FearMay 10, 2015 at 12:55 PM

That Chamber match is fantastic. Might be the best chamber match.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't know if it's true or not, but Scott has the tendency to believe everything he's ever read

    ReplyDelete
  46. I wouldn't argue with you on that. I really liked the two at No Way Out 09 as well. After 2010 they just all blend together.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Macklin, Man Without FearMay 10, 2015 at 12:56 PM

Yeah the pair at NWO 2009 were really strong as well.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Macklin, Man Without FearMay 10, 2015 at 12:57 PM

I think Justice League definitely holds value and interest. Not Avengers levels of interest but I still think the Justice League is a big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  49. As long as Fox thinks they can make more X movies and make hundreds of millions of dollars they aren't going to cross over.
spiderman only happened because they knew their current line was dead in the water and likely to lose money on a third movie based on the massive drop off of part 2.

Marvel and Fox hate each other to the point of Marvel contemplating canceling the Fantastic Four comic book ahead of the new movie so they wouldn't be giving it free publicity

    ReplyDelete
  50. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 12:58 PM

I was admittedly never a DC fan, but I feel like the whole appeal of JLA is Batman & Superman teaming up, which we are going to get anyway. Hopefully Wonder Woman's appearance, the Flash TV show, and some effort to make Aquaman interesting can make Justice League seem more compelling

    ReplyDelete
  51. How much did it gross

    ReplyDelete
  52. So I listened to Kevin Smith's thoughts on Age of Ultron. He had probably the most genius idea ever for DC, but I don't think they could do it due to legal reasons or stupidity.

Get either Joss Whedon or Jon Favreau to do Justice League.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Also to the point they won't create any new X-Men characters. Hence the reason why Iceman is now gay instead of some new guy.

    ReplyDelete
  54. No but he is contracted for it.

I'm assuming that there will be a loose team-up of Magneto's camp and the X-Men in order to defeat Apocalypse. After that, I really hope Fox gives us a movie version of "Fatal Attractions". If only to see Wolverine's adamantium ripped out on the big screen and the big emotional final battle between Xavier and Magneto

    ReplyDelete
  58. There are no legal reasons why either couldn't be hired. Also: Kevin Feige's contract is up in 2018. I wonder if WB make him a godfather offer?

Hey, if the same dude can do Star Trek and Star Wars....

    ReplyDelete
  62. hire Jason Mewes to play Batman?

    ReplyDelete
  63. No way Marvel doesn't have an even bigger contract for him to sign.

  68. I consider myself to be a huge Kevin Smith Mark. I counted Dogma among my top 3 movies for a long damn time. Zack & Miri is the only one of his, until recently, that I don't own.

Having said that, I'm far more interested in hearing his thoughts on not making an abortion like fucking Tusk ever again than I am in his opinion on someone else's work.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The man who wrote the mic cage superman movie and tried to convince everyone the affleck Daredevil movie would be awesome gets no say

    ReplyDelete
  70. Feige I can't see signing on to something that big plus something already in progress.

Godfather offer AND yet another reboot? Maybe but then would there be an audience?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Marvel is notoriously cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  72. 1. There is no mic, or Nick, Cage Superman film. He had no say in casting that shit; he was brought in to write a script with stupid restrictions put in place by the producer.

    2. I wouldn't call the Affleck DD movie awesome, but I liked it, and own a copy. Plus, dude was backing his boy.

    ReplyDelete
  73. A lot of people were hyped about Daredevil and hoped it would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  74. How many screens? Only saw it listed at a couple of the smaller B-movie type theaters around CT

    ReplyDelete
  75. 469K for a PSA of $465.

    Affleck DD was solid.

    Jason Lee, goddammit!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Huh, semi-small number of theaters and I didn't really see much ads for it.

    Finger cuffs!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Forget how I saw this but apparently Rooker wants Mewes to get a part in Guardians 2

    ReplyDelete
  82. Whedon said that his style of film making doesn't gel with what DC is currently doing: DARK DARK DARK DARKITY DARK!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yea, I think they had to do 1,000 screens or something. I think the negative reviews and misleading marketing campaign killed it

    ReplyDelete
  84. I didn't mind Afflecks Daredevil. I think a big problem was the timing of the release of that movie. Ben Affleck was hated in 2003 by pretty much everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  85. uh...last seasons of Buffy and Angel anyone? Hell, the Serenity film was pretty dark.

    ReplyDelete
  86. And not that Agents is anything but the red-headed step child of the MCU, but this is an awful lot of Inhuman stuff years before they're actually on film

    ReplyDelete
  87. That's my momma!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Well my drunken ADD trying to watch Parks and type typos not included. If he was an artist he probably would have walked away due to the stupid restrictions. He is not and is a nerd George Lucas. Except instead of making movies to sell toys he does it to sell tee shirts and other garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yeah, but Whedon's style is very light hearted at it's core, even the dark stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  90. A Star Wars game with the look and feel of Mass Effect is my dream video game.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Poor BoD'ers who don't like comic book talk

    ReplyDelete
  92. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:11 PM

Margot Robie is way too fucking hot. I hope she delivers as Harley Quinn

    ReplyDelete
  93. It was a weird marriage between the traditional Spider-Man type of superhero movies and the darker ones to come. The Directors Cut was good.

    ReplyDelete
  94. So who is the worst avenger in the movies? I'd go with hawkeye.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:11 PM

haha. They'll just have to get over it, Sapphire.

    ReplyDelete
  96. movie was garbage with garbage pacing, acting, casting, filming of action and had a fanboy movie director who wasn't interested in telling a story but making a visual mix cd of all his favorite Daredevil scenes from the comics

    ReplyDelete
  97. Fuck Vision and his hammer

    ReplyDelete
  98. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:12 PM

Yeah, dude has proven his talents as an actor and director since then. It's just that he was making horrible rom-coms at the time

    ReplyDelete
  99. I don't dislike any of them.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Re watching "Nelson vs Murdock", goddamn Vanessa's ass in that dress

I never liked Thor in the comics, but even he is badass in the movies. They have done a great job of not having any dead weight

    ReplyDelete
  105. Macklin, Man Without FearMay 10, 2015 at 1:13 PM

He's a hammer moment stealing douchebag.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Are you still in upstate New York? I thought they don't have the sun!

    ReplyDelete
  107. He's fucking awesome

    ReplyDelete
  108. Daredevil won't be able to lift the hammer, either

    ReplyDelete
  109. I prefer brunette but I can't think of anyone hotter than her right now.

    ReplyDelete
  110. HE RUINED IT, DAMMIT!!!

    HE RUINED IT ALL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. So I have a Marvel movie question ..but it involves a spoiler

    ReplyDelete
  112. Thaddeus MountainMay 10, 2015 at 1:14 PM

They do recently. It's been mid-80s and humid for the last week.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Eh, I'm Cap/Hammer biased. Logical side of me agrees with you, "Movie making" side of me sees why/how that's a really quick short cut out of "who's side is he on", fanboy side of me that was all set for a moment 3-4 years from now with Cap saving the day with the hammer? Fuuuuuck

    ReplyDelete
  114. Flash and Arrow aren't part of the movie's JL

    ReplyDelete
  115. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:16 PM

I know Daredevil (2003) gets a lot of hate, but the one I think missed the mark most offensively is the two shitty Ghostrider movies. It's not just Nick Cage either. Now THAT is a brand that deserves the dark Netflix-exclusive reboot. Daredevil, Punisher, and Ghostrider should be a dark contrast to the big flashy Avengers/GotG style and humor

    ReplyDelete
  116. Cap can still do that.

    ReplyDelete
  117. So far have watched three episodes of Daredevil. Not all that crazy about it but I love Vincent D'Onofrio and love staring at Rosario Dawson so im sure that will change.

    ReplyDelete
  118. It's ok; we all know Peter Parker= Spiderman.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:17 PM

haha. Whedon's style doesn't fit DC. And that style is making billions of dollars and making awesome movies. Carry on, DC.

    ReplyDelete
  120. "Not all that crazy about it"

  133. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:20 PM

I hope it does well, but of the Marvel brands coming up soon, I feel like "Captain Marvel" has a chance of falling flat. Ant-Man will be a good measuring stick though, because if that thing can do well, then Marvel is truly bulletproof

    ReplyDelete
  134. Macklin, Man Without FearMay 10, 2015 at 1:20 PM

Same director made Ghost Rider too.

Affleck catches the hate for DD because he's the most easily hateable target but that movies direction and writing hold it back. The performances were fine.

    ReplyDelete
  135. A certain someone from Ultron has got to come back even though it seems like they are unlikely to come back right?

Finally someone found the words that I couldn't.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:21 PM

Yeah, Daredevil flirted with going in an interesting direction a couple times, but it ultimately fell flat. Nick Cage was just a terrible decision to play such a badass character

    ReplyDelete
  138. Bets on THAT'S where they stick Hulk to boost box office?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Falcon is the token black guy

    ReplyDelete
  140. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:23 PM

Said "someone" just might come back and "SMASH" perhaps?

Or perhaps a different said "someone" comes back real QUICK and dressed in SILVER, because his sister pulled some weird magic trick to fake his death in Age of Ultron?

    ReplyDelete
  141. Ant-man will be a real test because it was a bit of a tech to begin with but then when the whole reason for doing it (edgar wright) dropped out it seemed even less important. So we will see. With Captain...I think having a hit female movie is going to be very important to them and they are going to put their machine behind it 100% to cast, promote and so it to victory. Also the character is good so done right it has a chance

    ReplyDelete
  142. I guess it's because I grew up a console player but I have never been able to get used to playing with a mouse and keyboard. It always feels weird to me.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Maybe I'll give it another rewatch.

    ReplyDelete
  144. The other problem with that is that both guys said their last Marvel jobs burned them out. I don't see either going to that well any time soon

    ReplyDelete
  145. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:24 PM

Yeah and I love it. Especially the most well-known superhero of them all getting outsold by Marvel's c-list property

    ReplyDelete
  146. Today is May 10, 2015 and you still can't powerbomb Kidman.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yeah, they've taking so much shit over not promoting their female characters that they will throw all their weight behind that project and try to erase that stigma

    ReplyDelete
  148. Fat, Ugly Inner-City SweathogMay 10, 2015 at 1:25 PM

Yeah absolutely. I hope they make it great. The later Infinity War additions (Capt. Marvel, Panther, Ant-Man, Strange?) need to be awesome prior to their additions to the Avengers lineage

    ReplyDelete
  149. They are already in a bit of a hole because currently scheduled DC is getting Wonder Woman out before them so they don't want to be the weaker female movie

After Guardians outsold SUPERMAN, I doubt if they are that worried. They are (and always have been) better storytellers and marketers, so I can totally see Captain Marvel doing as well or better than Wonder Woman

She sounds just like Nancy Grace.

  163. I was reading about Martha Hart being vocally against any type of Owen Hart DVD.

I don't know what to make of her. I do get everything that happened with Owen's death and the resentment that bred, but her phrasing just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. She says in her statement that it's "another attempt to exploit Owen's memory, and his tragic death, for commercial gain."

So, if WWE wanted to make an Owen DVD with a certain portion of the revenue going to the Owen Hart Foundation she runs, then she'd be completely on board?

And making something and selling it isn't always about just churning something out to make a profit. Yeah, they're going to sell, but his career also deserves some retrospective/tribute.

  164. what was said before the video started that pissed her off

I am confident that they will make Crossbones an awesome villain. Cap dying on-screen (eventually) will be epic

It won't be epic. It'll be a tragedy.

Yeah I don't get why she wouldn't be OK with the DVD release bringing in some money to her kids or something.

A travesty. A miscarriage of justice.

  169. I wonder if they flip the script with civil war and kill stark

    From the blindside.

  171. Wow, just wow.
At first I couldn't make out what was being said, so I was starting to assume it was a nothing incident that got blown out of proportion. But it carried on and, it's insane.

How is she in charge of kids education?

  172. Uh, definitely. And who cares who Don it first, JLA vs. Darkseid has to happen.

That would be crazy. What if they did a Butch & Sundance ending where they finally reunite long enough to go out in a blaze of glory. Then Infinity War 2 is the remaining heroes bonding after Cap/Stark are martyred?

  174. She might not need money. I think she got paid handsomely in the subsequent lawsuits, so they're probably set.

But it sounds like (and I could be misinterpreting) she has viewpoint of Owen's career shouldn't even be acknowledged unless its in service of her project, the foundation.

  175. I got future endeavored today at my graduation lol

Scarlett is a legit headliner and her character gets way more than a supporting role in these movies. They could totally sell an Origins story on Black Widow if they wanted to

  180. She hated wrestling even when Owen was alive, for whatever reason she always felt like it was beneath him and she just put up with it for the money he brought in. His death did nothing to endear her to it, that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Well we will have to see what the story actually is. but Evans is young and RDJ is old. I don't know if they just plan on recasting stark or giving someone else the suit or what but RDJ isn't going to be doing this much at all anymore. They had to back a truck up to get him to do civil war so I think he is pretty much done.

  192. I don't know it just seems weird They cast him well and young and with a blooming star in hollywood and then kill him off just seems a waste. Come on man I only have one movie series to get my quicksilver fix with now.
