Comments

  1. Caps at Rags game 7. If the Caps lose, is it a choke? Caps are the 4th seed, and Rags are the President's Trophy winner.

Up 3-1 and losing? yeah, that's a choke.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Holy shit, Mad Max at 99% approval rating, 81 out of 82 critics giving it the thumbs up. And a bunch of them are giving it the 3.5-to-4 star treatment, saying it's simply bugfuck awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The Furious franchise lost a ton of characters. Interesting to see what they do for the 8th movie.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Caps have a long history of blowing 3-1 leads. It's not a choke but expected.

  6. Adam "Colorado" CurryMay 13, 2015 at 5:42 PM

I wonder how many they'll make.

  7. As long as they're making a shit Ton of money.

Rangers are 7-0 in their last 7 game 7s too.

    ReplyDelete
  9. As long as they still make money.

  10. My brother went to and early screening yesterday. He said it was so good that Hollywood should stop making movies

  13. Adam "Colorado" CurryMay 13, 2015 at 5:43 PM

I just can't think of a non-horror franchise that has 7 movies, though Star Wars will have at least 9.

    Is Mad Max out yet?

    ReplyDelete
  17. This is my favorite description of Mad Max: Fury Road:

"here’s a movie that feels like it was made by kidnapping $150 million of Warner Bros.’ money, absconding with it to the Namibian desert, and sending footage back to Hollywood like the amputated body parts of a ransomed hostage."

    ReplyDelete
  18. I had little interest in the film until I heard about all the good buzz. Now I have to see it this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah I hope it will. It'll fight with week 3 of Avengers but shouldn't lose eyeballs to Pitch a Perfect 2, which will have a massive opening but they're not exactly the audience going to see Fury Road.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Adam "Colorado" CurryMay 13, 2015 at 5:46 PM

I watched the F1 race from Sunday earlier and 2 of the cars had an ad for the movie on it, which is not something you normally see in F1. So they are going all out in promoting it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Google "Andre the Giant Cat."

  22. Adam "Colorado" CurryMay 13, 2015 at 5:47 PM

Um, is that supposed to be a good thing or a bad thing?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I was already in at the holy shit visuals and action. Now with the word being the whole movie is legitimately mind blowing shit, I'm just in full HUMINA HUMINA HUMINA mode this weekend

    ReplyDelete
  24. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 13, 2015 at 5:47 PM

Yeah I was gonna ask, is this from a good review or a negative review.

  31. Adam "Colorado" CurryMay 13, 2015 at 5:49 PM

Ah. I'm not a movie guy and avoid reviews of anything that's not wrestling, so I didn't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The trailers looked fine, I suppose I just expected to be underwhelmed. Now, not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  33. cabspaintedyellowMay 13, 2015 at 5:49 PM

Sweet merciful shit, the new Supergirl is SO FUCKING CUTE, YOU GUYS.

  34. Good review. I edited the post to fix it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I am still not getting the logic here. Something about explosions in the film distracting from the fact that it stars living, breathing women...?

    ReplyDelete
  36. She was really cute in her Fappening photos

    ReplyDelete
  37. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 13, 2015 at 5:50 PM

Yeah to be honest the trailers felt really disjointed and didn't do a lot to get me hyped.

It speaks volumes for the sheer ferocious awesome insane greatness of "Mad Max: Fury Road" that I'm not even ticked off about Tom Hardy getting stuck wearing a face mask for a good chunk of the film.

    Boston Globe
The shock, really, is how tender Mad Max: Fury Road ultimately becomes. The film just wraps that tenderness in one of the most epic action extravaganzas of recent years. It's enough to renew your faith in movies.

    AP
Thirty years after Miller gave the world Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, he's returned to his own post-apocalyptic world and created an exceptional, fearless and poetic masterpiece that's primed to become a modern classic.

This is from Greg Berlanti, the guy behind Arrow and Flash, so I have faith. I mean, the fact that it's on CBS makes me worry it's just going to be another procedural for old folks, but I'm remaining cautiously optimistic.

They're trying to work out a deal with CBS, but if it doesn't happen, it's basically their fault. Of course, I don't even see what the problem would be, since The CW is a subsidiary of CBS anyway.

And Ben Mendelsohn gave the best performance I've seen on TV this year with Bloodline.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yeah, I posted about that in the last thread. Yeesh...

    ReplyDelete
  81. If Zayn and Itami are both out, I feel like the idea should be just offer up the Owens/Balor rematch for the title. Make Breeze the odd man out and let him come out next week and rail about how he's being overlooked.

  82. Sounds like you have a man crush.

    ReplyDelete
  84. AoU is unlikely to surpass it. It needs to DOUBLE itself in the USA to surpass Avatar.

    ReplyDelete
  95. And the fact he wants to play Punisher!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I hate when skilled players try to get cute in the playoffs. Shoot the goddamn puck on net.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I still don't get that movie. It's one of the worst films I've ever seen. Horrible dialogue, cheesy effects, needless and arbitrary 3D, bad acting...it was like watching a video game that you weren't allowed to play.

    ReplyDelete
  98. He was so evil in Animal Kingdom.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Did they give Solomon Crowe new music? Seems less anarchic.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Bit of a stretch but I know they made a crap ton of American Pie movies that have nothing to do with the original movies.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I doubt it. Even a DC vs. Marvel movie might not break Avatar.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Nevermind. Kluber hit someone earlier in the game. Still a no-hitter going though.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'm so glad the Sharks aren't in the playoffs. They saved me a lot of stress this year.

I still haven't forgiven that team for their outright implosion a year ago against the Kings.

  104. oh ffs, flassssssssshbacks

    ReplyDelete
  111. Sounds like it. He looks like he's Just Another Guy now.

I believe they're only up to 6, and only 4 were released to theaters.

    ReplyDelete
  115. True. Along with GM Doug Wilson.

    ReplyDelete
  116. It's Solomon Crowe.....and I'm gonna knock your brains out.

    ReplyDelete
  117. If the coaching change doesn't get them back on track next year it'll be an interesting season.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I am watching a documentary on big bird and I like it.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  127. And the James Cameron fan-wanking. OMG...it was like everyone was scared to say, "This movie sucked." I mean, I'd sit through Titanic again before I watched Avatar and I wasn't a Titanic fan, either. Cameron really hasn't made a good movie since Terminator 2.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Adam "Colorado" CurryMay 13, 2015 at 6:10 PM

Well, the guy that came in for Ruth did retire 27 in a row.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I doubt it'll make it. Avatar made at least 20m for 14 straight weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Coincidentally, they already did a Simpsception episode a few seasons ago.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Word of mouth. It was the best fucking looking movie at the time, and of all-time currently.

But I have no idea either. It makes 0 sense.

I liked Titanic. I went into it thinking "great, a 3 and a half hour movie I already know the ending to..." and was really surprised.

That's when I realised that DiCaprio is actually a really good actor.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I liked the design of Titanic...but I've seen Winslet and DiCaprio in better films and roles. :-/

    ReplyDelete
  139. It was the first mainstream movie to NAIL 3D. I saw it in IMAX and my eyes were cumming.

  148. Seahawks fans set up a GoFundMe to pay Russell Wilson if he re-signs with the Seahawks. Idiots are actually donating. Wilson would get the money in addition to whatever he'd get from Seattle.

  149. 14 weeks of at least 20m is pretty crazy if people think about it.

    Why?

    ReplyDelete
  168. I saw a wonderfully cheesy direct to DVD (I assume) movie recently... it started with this guy in prison who Kimbo Slice and some other guys tried to shank and he kicked the shit out of them because another guy warned him. The guy that warned was apparently killed later on so this guy went to protect his family when he got out and revenge the guy that killed his buddy... this ends up getting him into an underground street fighter culture where he fought various people... Gina Carano was in it as a female fighter and that guy that was on American Gladiators and is the Rock's cousin was also in it it was a lot like Best Of The Best or Kickboxer. Very fun.

    ReplyDelete

  170. How good he is at planning operations, knows how to handle weapons, the line "When a truck full of soliders blows up...". Also, TDK is very much a 9/11 film. Batman is an allegory to post 9/11 government.

I heard one that TDK Joker's dad was Jack Torrence from The Shining who was really Jack Napier who went into hiding after his attempted overthrowing of his boss in 1989 Batman didn't work out.

  175. There was another show somewhere else that is getting turned into elimination chamber. They can't both be elimination chamber.

  183. They're LOSING MONEY, though! They don't want your money when they could take money from some other town with two weeks' notice.

I think he's legit grateful to be back after he shit the bed in public that one WM weekend AND I think he's where he wants to be: wrestling younger guys, helping out and probably with an eye on getting a trainer gig at some point. It almost always helps when you can tell a guy is enjoying what he's doing.

  189. If the Caps and Wizards both make it to the conference finals, I might parley a championship bet. That has to be at least a 30-1 odds.

  190. As long as Arrow's about to start on the east coast, did the ending of The Flash irk anyone else when Oliver just casually went "Oh, hey, I'm gonna need your help with something."

WHEN exactly did he have time to stop in Central City with all the shit going on over on his show?

  191. I remember reading a theory about the prequels when they were still being filmed. The big twist was going to be Obi-Wan dying and a clone taking his place. He then becomes Obi-ONE in the original trilogy.

Really wish that happened. Sounded so cool.
