Elimination Chamber 2015

Hi Scott,

It's been revealed that the May 31st house show will be a Elimination Chamber network exclusive show.

It sounds like a wonderful idea, that there is a show that only those with the network can see along with the idea of network exclusive shows been something that will help draw in more subscribers.

Do you think it will work as intended and help draw new subscribers or that people simply don't see a free house show with a gimmick match being enough?

Cheers.

It's an intriguing idea, and honestly I don't need these shows to have fancy themes as a fan.  I'd be happy with broadcasting random house shows every month with minimal lighting and commentary and such.  Any kind of extra content for subscribers like that can't hurt.  I'd love to just see an NXT house show because god knows I'm never going to be in Florida to catch one.  That should be exactly what the Network is for!  We're never getting WWE again here in backwoods Saskatchewan, so why not give the experience via the Network?

  1. Because fuck you, that's why.

...hey, somebody had to say it...

You didn't have to and fuck you for saying it.

  3. This is a good idea, but they'll take a HARD hit for it early on (losing the 25% of crazy bastards who still pay for PPV for an uncertain number of added subscriptions). In the long run, though, it could be the type of thing that saves the Network.

  4. May is free month so they want sign-ups and hope people dont cancel.

    ReplyDelete
  5. As I've said, they don't need less PPVs but more "PPV"s (or special show) to sell the network.

Current champion retires due to physical injuries.

Company immediately books high-risk match to decide who can be next champ.

"We can't get behind Daniel Bryan because he is fragile. Incidentally, he will be exclusively wrestling in Top Rope Leaping Piledriver matches. What? He'll be putting people over. We're not stupid.

Oh, he got hurt? Well then, we need to take a more careful approach. SCAFFOLD MATCH."

  8. How is the Chamber high-risk?

  9. They seem to be modelling these WWE specials on the NXT specials (shorter shows with good - great wrestling), so I'm all for it. I'm guessing Vince has been pleasantly surprised by the NXT stuff being the most-watched on the Network

Why don't you ask all the guys who have complained about how hard the surfaces are and how many injuries they've had on them? It's well known that it's dangerous.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Unfortunately I don't have that kind of access to WWE superstars so why don't you tell me?

All you have to do is google it. Triple H, Sheamus, Punk, Rey....all have been injured in one way or another in the chamber.

    ReplyDelete
  13. All I could find was that Sheamus got injured (doesn't specify how) and that HHH got injured from an RVD frogsplash (which doesn't really factor in the Chamber)

If ultimate company man Triple H is on the record that a match type is too dangerous and causes too many injuries it's probably not worth it.

And RVD injuring him was absolutely cell related. He tried to jump off a pod, had to straight drop instead of aiming his jump because of the ceiling and landed on Triple H's throat.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah but RVD's a stoner so that's why he couldn't figure out the logistics of it. Neville wouldn't have that problem. Where did HHH say that?

  16. Punk cut his back up pretty badly one year, he put pictures up on Twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Cuts are fine, they're not going to keep anyone out of action

  18. It was his leg my mistake

Moving around with deep cuts hurts like hell and diminishes their ability to perform. They also don't heal quickly if you wrestle every night.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Amen to Scott. Stick a single camera in the crowd and let the show run. Hell, it might even bump the gate if people know they are on the Network for the night.

  20. I accept guys can get hurt wrestle, but a match where guys are bumping onto exposed metal grating is fucking retarded.

    ReplyDelete
  21. several workers have gone on record saying the whole steel structure is quite likely to cause at least minor injuries and bruises because it obviously doesn't absorb any of the bumps.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It factors into the Chamber the same way that the WarGames cage factored into Sid fucking up a powerbomb on Pillman.

Wrestling is supposed to be a work. The only cuts that should be occurring are self-inflicted, and even that isn't supposed to happen anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's pretty awesome when they get cut though isn't it? Lesnar at Mania, Sheamus at KOTR the other week, Cesaro's leg all bruised and fucked up on RAW the other week. Shit happens, it's a part of the job. What's with the pussification of wrestling fans recently?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Fair, but cuts/bleeding is another story IMO. Might sound juvenile but I really think it adds quality/drama to a match

    ReplyDelete
  26. The Elimination Chamber is usually less about the bumps and "hardcore" action and more about the drama it creates with the 6 man dynamic. It's quite an unusual match.

Though I do like it when someone gets sent into the plastic windows, makes for a great noise.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In a one on one match I agree but when it's six guys it pretty much gets lost in the shuffle.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jesus if you think that's bad pls never get a real injury.

    ReplyDelete
  29. No commentary too. Just present them as is. I wouldn't watch many of them but from time to time it could be a fun watch.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've had plenty. I've done multiple 60 hour weeks on my feet with broken ribs one Christmas but that doesn't mean I'd enjoy having three bleeding gashes on my thigh.

It might be that we've seen a lot of guys die. I don't know.

  32. Buffalo HopscotchMay 13, 2015 at 6:22 AM

Well just don't have guys jumping off the top of the pods then.

The stripped down house show production might be a nice change of pace from the repetitive, over produced, same graphics for everything for the past decade shows we've been getting now.

Hell, just stick Joey Styles on commentary, and let him do his ECW lone commentator stuff and it'll be great.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've mentioned this before but a big issue is that these specialty matches are always saved for the main events, and the main events (as we know) are typically the same guys over and over again. Conceivably, in a matter of months, the same guy could fight an Extreme Rules match in April, an Elimination Chamber match in May, a ladder match in June, a Hell in a Cell match in October, and then a TLC match in December. Not to mention any unanticipated hardcore style match throughout the year.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dont even need commentary. Just let the talent break Kayfabe for 10 seconds and (GASP!!) tell a story in the ring themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't think they'd date put on a regular NXT house show in any little armory with no set or lighting. NXT house shows are run just like low budget indies in Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Triple H's injury was the result of a dumbass worker trying a spot he clearly hadn't rehearsed. That the chamber was involved was purely incidental.

Sheamus' concussion I do not remember. How exactly did it happen? Did we ever find out?

Punk got some scrapes and bruises. Sucks, I'm sure they hurt, but come on.

Rey? Injured? NO, YOU DON'T SAY.

I know guys have complained that bumping on the steel on the outside sucks, but has anyone actually suffered an injury because of it?

It seems to be that people just conflate the two things (guys complaining about bumping on steel hurting and injuries that happened inside the chamber while not having much to do with the chamber) into one "OMG IT'S SO DANGEROUS" talking point.
