Missed Opportunity

Scott,

It's too bad the roles were switched for Brass Ring Club and New Day. With Payback being in Baltimore, it would have been a great chance to dress the BRC in police uniforms and have them use a bunch of back breakers on New Day. I'm going to hell.

Yeah, I don’t watch the news, so “whoosh” as far as I’m concerned.  But I’ll assume that was a tasteless remark and you’re a terrible person for doing so.  Let me top you:  I’ve been thinking recently that Homicide and Suicide should team up and call their team “Chris Benoit”.

There, horribly tasteless AND accessible to those of us in the wrestling bubble!

Comments

  1. I still say the New Day cementing their heel turn with some ultra-violence to turn into a modern day Nation of Domination, and Baltimore would be the PERFECT place to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  2. WCW missed the ball by not having Midnight and Dustin Rhodes as an intergender team called Midnight Cowboy.

    ReplyDelete
  3. WILL YOU STOP?!

    ReplyDelete
  4. You are correct, sir.

    It will never happen.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I don't want them to be NoD. They're perfect as they are.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Kinda hard to say that when you have a face full of pillow.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Unrelated post, cause you know, we have no generic thread right now.

This is my favorite song written (I believe it was) for a movie:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grP22coLFhw

Ran during the opening credits, totally set the perfect one. Love the movie, btw. Hoss will be covering this if he ever gigs out again.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's working now, but I was totally hoping for a massively violent heel faction before we got theme blue New Day.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Speaking of missed opportunities, how have we managed to go through a Big Show heel turn without the obligatory three pay-per-view feud with John Cena? Also, Judgement Day 2009 is a pretty good show.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Cena- Show have probably had dozens of televised matches by now. Has a single one broke *** yet?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I don't necessarily want them to be NOD either, but them trying to find the positive and then leaving their opponents in figurative pools of their own blood when the crowd won't get behind their positivity is something I'd like to see.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Did Russo write that email?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I want the opposite - MORE MORE MORE chickenshit heeling and hypocrisy, with Woods untouched until the appropriate time.

    ReplyDelete
  14. New Day may be one of the few times in history a black heel group wasn't some sort of stereotype (Gang Member, African Savage, Criminal, Race Baiter, Evil Dancers, etc). I really enjoy them. Lets not ruin them by making them about race. They are very unique as they are.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Shuckin' and jivin' black Southern preachers isn't a religious stereotype? That's partially what turned them heel in the first place, that they WERE just another stereotype. They've overcome that by stealing from Bo Dallas, but it was there to start.

    ReplyDelete
  16. They may have started as a stereotype. But the core of their gimmick now isn't. The core of their gimmick is now 3 egotistical jerks who think everyone like them when everyone hates them. That has nothing to do with race, and I am glad to find a black heel group who found a niche outside of race.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, we could have had them as well dressed, well spoken assholes who just beat the shit out of people who crossed them. Instead, we have this, which evolved out of backlash for stereotyped crap I though was on par with the crows in Dumbo.

Kind of an odd turn of events, but not without precedent in wrestling. Honky Tonk Man was a babyface when he debuted in the WWF, but he bombed so bad that they *had* to turn him. That worked out nicely. Hope this does too.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I want them to come out in whiteface.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Awesome show! Roster was really deep during that period and somehow the Big Show is the one feuding with Cena.

    ReplyDelete
  20. MISSED OPPORTUNITY:

Heidenreich vs. Sami Zayn in a Final Solution match. It's like that Undertaker/Dudleyz Concrete Match but instead of a Glass Chamber that fills with cement... well, it rhymes with Glass Chamber.

    ReplyDelete
  21. SO FUCKING PERFECT.

Or, maybe just making fun of Cesaro, Kidd and Nattie. I'd accept that.

    ReplyDelete
  22. BIGGER MISSED OPPORTUNITY:

    Avatar vs Kwang

    ReplyDelete
  23. WWE listened to their fans on New Day. I would say New Day was a stereotype before hand, but more than anything, I was simply confused by New Day. Why were we supposed to cheer them? It was never established. The audience started booing New Day so WWE turned them heel, and made them awesome as a result. I dont know why WWE doesn't listen to their audience more often. If they did, we could have a badass Roman Reigns crushing everyone as a heel, and Big Show and Kane curtain jerking right now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Roman as the hand-picked corporate champion powebombing people with the assistance of J&J Security would be fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I always wanted to see Kwang v Savio Vega. It was like they just missed each other in the WWF.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It sometimes takes them awhile to listen, if they do at all. DBry leading up to WM 30 is the best most recent example. The New Day thing happened more quickly, and makes me think someone backstage said, "Well, let's try turning them heel and see what happens." The only other alternative was to just forget they existed, and apparently, those in power weren't ready for that yet.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Like an Amtrak train, these comments are going off the rails.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, but I'm digging on Rollins in his role.

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's amazing that Savio managed to find time off from his busy schedule as a Caribbean legend to help Razor Ramon in that match.

    ReplyDelete
  30. TOO LATE. Your humor is offends me because its offensiveness isn't timely enough.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Bah.

Kane vs Diesel 2.0 vs Isaac Yankem DDS or GTFO.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have no question that Rollins is going to start getting major cheers within the next couple of months because of how awesome he is. If WWE is smart, they will take that as an opportunity to do a double turn where the Authority kicks Rollins out and replaces him with Reigns. That will probably be best for both guys.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Winner faces the Christmas Creature.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hall & Nash vs Fake Razor & Fake Diesel would've been hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I had to look that up.

man, fuck you for subjecting me to that 20 seconds or so that I was able to stomach.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wrong. This is. And you're welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Reigns staring coldly at fans and saying 'shut up, or I'll Superman punch your mother' would be excellent heel heat.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm not crazy about Payback tonight but it's a good day to renew the network anyway. I'll get Payback, NXT Special this week, Elimination Chamber and Money In The Bank for my bucks. Not bad.

    ReplyDelete
  47. There was, I think, an episode of Smackdown around the holidays where Kane had a bunch of garland on him, and Lawler said he looked like a Christmas Creature. Pretty sure that was the last time Lawler was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  48. There's a PPV tonight? I legitimately did not know that

    ReplyDelete
  49. Could use another email and get May for free

    ReplyDelete
  50. 4 shows for 10 bucks? Even your mother wouldn't give that good of a deal.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've decided to return my Daniel Bryan action figure to Stamford. Every time I take it out of the package and play with it, it breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah but I was going to renew it for MITB anyway, might as well do it now.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Snitsky was one of my favorites. "When I'm done with you Kane, you're gonna be the one crying like a baby. Waaahhh, waaaaah, waaaaaaaah!"

    ReplyDelete
  54. JJ Redick, Matt Barnes, and Jamal Crawford are gonna be kicking themselves all offseason. They missed about 800 shots in the last 3 games.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Unrelated, but, Golden State is going to thump Houston.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Why do I have this feeling that Houston is going to shock them?

    ReplyDelete
  57. The Clippers have to get some new forwards this offseason. GM Doc is making Coach Doc's job so much more difficult. Who else besides Griffin and Paul do you trust to pull them out of a hole?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Golden State annihilated Houston in the regular season. bad matchup. People keep questioning the Warriors for some reason, as if they're 67 wins came out of thin air.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Actually I'm not questioning them at all. It's just this feeling I'm getting. I don't care if I'm right or wrong since as far as sports go, the NBA ranks pretty low for me.

    ReplyDelete
  60. What was it?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I like Lawler, but always felt he was overrated as a color commentator.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I still feel sorry for Russo that he was branded a racist when he's the farthest thing from it. I suppose I'm the only one that got where he was coming from in that interview.

    ReplyDelete
  66. For reference, the only 60-win/+10 point differential team that didn't win it all lost to a 69 win/+12 point differential team in the conference finals.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh God, not again

    ReplyDelete
  68. I don't think he's a racist, but a guy that would exploit a major news controversy? Absolutely.

    ReplyDelete
  69. LATE whistle, and the only contact was Harden pushing off.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Have the live channel playing in the background and they're airing the Roman Reigns special and some girl was on there talking about how she's a huge fan of Reigns because she used to be bullied in school and I'm sitting here like the fuck does that have to do with Reigns and what would Reigns know about having to overcome bullying? The fuck is going on here?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Random recollection.

I was in Brussels, getting a little hungry. So, I wandered into this shop to buy some bread. There was this big fucker behind the counter; he was at least 6'4; full of muscles. Fearing a problem with communication - I had never really learned French - I asked him if spoke English. Dude gave a huge smile, which was totally disarming, and gave me a vegemite sandwich.

    Shit was foul.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Clearly, he was bullied by The Authority.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Then bring in Genocide and call the faction Sabu.

He was teased and bullied about his long, luxurious hair as a teenager, obviously.

Those girls were so jealous, and the guys wanted to run their fingers through it. In a manly way, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Matt Barnes? Yeah. The other two? No! As long as they get their shots then they are good.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Even though WWE was instructing us to do just that 10 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anybody looking for a really good recent movie should definitely check out "Let's Kill Ward's Wife".
Hilarious movie and I say that as somebody who admittedly hates Patrick Wilson movies (with the exception of this film and Morning Glory).

    ReplyDelete
  99. Just turned on "This Week in WWE" to get caught up before the PPV. Oh lawd, they're going to do "Kane's choice" in the main event again, aren't they?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Love how somebody argued in one of the threads claimed that one of the reasons why WWE is so stagnant is because USA always wants stars to be prominently featured on RAW and my first thought upon reading that was "Who in their mind thinks Kane is a star?".

    ReplyDelete
  101. I really wanna watch Mad Men tonight but this PPV is getting in the way!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Adam Rose and Tyler Breezr should be called up as a full time tag team.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Wow mad max got its ass beat by pitch perfect. Movie made over 70 million

    ReplyDelete
  104. He's from the Attitude era, when USA would get 5.0s on Monday Night. It wouldn't be far-fetched to them ink that's the reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I'm watching mad men. I really don't care about the ppv

    ReplyDelete
  106. So i had a dream last night, where as part of it i saw the card for Elimination Chamber. i can't remember all of it but i can recall a few items, which if correct give away results for tonight.

    1) New Day defends the Tag Titles in the elimination Chamber, which means they retain tonight.
    2) Rusev mocked Cena by defending his US title in a open Challenge, so he must regain his title tonight.
    3) Connor of the Ascension was in a singles match in the pre-show, so not only does Axel/Sandow win tonight but The Ascension likely breaks up as well.

Remember these are only spoilers if you believe not only in psychic powers but also that i have them. Personally, I believe it's just a random dream.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Yeah but I highly doubt that USA would want them to feature the exact same guys from that era. Rob Estes had a popular show on USA 15 years ago but you don't see him on any of their current series.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I never saw much of his wrestling outside of WWF, just what was included in "I'm From Hollywood" pretty much, so I've never even really been a fan. He's had a couple good jokes, but that's a pretty shit ratio for 17-ish years of talking.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I had a dream once that Regal and Finley were stiffing each other so much that they eventually fell in love and started wearing each others clothes.

    Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Is the show really that good?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Does stiffing each other mean something different now?

    ReplyDelete
  112. No, in this case it really did refer to the ring work.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yes. Not breaking bad or wire good, but in the second tier

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'm personally excited it's ending.

    ReplyDelete
  116. To quote Orgazmo: "It doesn't have the spirit of the original".
That line could be used to describe both movies, by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Shouldn't the April PPV be Payback since it's often Mania rematches. *shrug*

    ReplyDelete
  118. Art Macklin, Man Without FearMay 17, 2015 at 4:46 PM

It's Payback for Extreme Rules which was backlash for WrestleMania.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I guess technically he's a recognizable star, but I can't imagine who would think he's someone fans would be interested in seeing in an important main event role... for 2 straight PPVs.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Do you remember in 1999 when WCW was making a deal with nbc? They were specifically making the deal with WCW to bring back Hogan and Savage.

    ReplyDelete
  121. This is like that episode of RAW two months ago where interest in the show was so low that a review of the show wasn't even put up on Meltzer's site until the next day.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Hogan and Savage in 1999 were still far more relevant than Kane has been at any point in the past 15 years. Don't think we're ever going to see Kane appearing on the Tonight Show or even the freaking Late Late Show for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  123. How long do you have to hold out on putting up a PPV thread to get your dick sucked?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Never. That's like the one show people are trained to tune in and watch.

    ReplyDelete
  129. USA love Raw and are involved in the show (suggesting ideas and such) it wouldn't make sense for them to get rid of it, and WWE don't want to make all their shows Network exclusive.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  143. You'll be facing your judgement day for confusing me like that.
