I've been watching the late 96/early 97 shows and that was pretty much exactly how you should book a clogged main event scene. Everybody kinda acting like selfish dicks regardless of alliance, with all sorts of zig-zagging feuds. You have Bret Hart and HBK, who hate each other, Austin playing constant agitator to Bret, Undertaker being the no-nonsense guy who has no patience for all of the yapping and bullshit, Vader being a menace who plows through the faces, and then Sid's just a fucking lunatic who attacks anybody in his path and is the only guy who is mostly cheered by the crowd.
I have to say though, you have to give TNA credit. How many times have they been floating around? From the weekly PPVs, to Fox, to Spike, to Destination America.......somehow they keep going. I never thought they would make it this far. Doubt they are making money, but have to at least respect their ability to stay in the game.
It wouldn't surprise me if they do get canceled if they find some life someplace else. Maybe an online show?
YES, thank you! I'm just going to go ahead and add that to my bookmarks. Reading any of that at random and it seems like a miracle they survived this long in the first place.
I just went over to TNA Mecca... damn, just... damn.
It's not the fact that they think TNA is fine and Meltzer is lying... I mean that is still within the realm of possibility. It's that they refuse to even entertain the notion. Which, given that 1) TNA has been bleeding money for quite some time 2) the cost of the show is expensive compared to other DA shows, and the ratings aren't amazing 3) THEY WERE CANCELLED FROM ANOTHER NETWORK LESS THAN A YEAR AGO, makes their point-blank denial seem, well, insane.
Some of them deny that Spike cancelled Impact. So they left on their own volition to go to a network that is only available in half of U.S. homes to get a third of the ratings? Actually, knowing TNA that's totally plausible.
That makes sense. And TNA is also being late on paying their employees because they have so much cash laying around it's blocking them from getting to the mailbox.
That is just so Steel Reserve league right there. Heyman had no excuse to not pay his people, and he literally ran ECW out of his mom's basement. Panda Energy is a multi-national billion dollar company.
No the last game I went to was Memphis game 2. I think I'll try and go to the next home game. Shit is just so expensive to fly up and get the ticket but I will go to one more for sure.
On the WON forum, Dave responded to this "threat" by simply stating "I have records of all the email correspondence I've had with Dixie before I broke the story..." so I'd say this is just TNA lashing out because they don't get the opportunity to lie to their employees for a bit longer.
Must say, the way TNA have handled themselves as a company recently have taken them from "irrelevant" to "hated" in my book. I hope the talent find good, paying work in other companies and TNA goes out of business. They're hacks, bullies and con-artists, it seems, and they deserve to go under while their lunatic fans try to deny it's even happening.
And Eric Young has tweeted basically calling Meltzer a "sad, sad loser"... what kind of Kool-Aid does Dixie give to her staff? You'd think they'd be mad at the people who make all the stupid decisions and hand them late paychecks, not the people who report on those scenarios. Bizarre.
Considering all the chances, pushes and air time they've given Young, it makes sense he's jumping to their defense. Seriously, if TNA goes belly up (emphasis on "if"; Jason Voorhees hasn't come back from the dead as often as TNA) where the hell is Eric going to go? No one with any sense will touch the man.
Didn't Jim Cornette already prove that TNA's lawyers are a complete joke anyway? They threatened to sue him over public comments he made about them, he responded by blasting them even more in public and then they immediately backed off.
And apparently their failure on Spike TV was Spike TV's fault, nevermind that the UFC was doing their best business ever at the exact same time on the exact same channel.
"“to all that this concerns… every person who posts nonsene about TNA getting cancelled, or sends private messages about it, WILL be deleted and BLOCKES! No exceptions to the rule. thanks."
Meltzer reports (I know, lies probably) that talent is being told that the rumours will be cleared up at the June tapings, about a month away. If there is nothing to this story, why not just outright say it? Why drag things out for a month?
I know this is just stupid wrestling stuff, but I'm actually kinda depressed about just how irrational and illogical so many people are being. It's not TNA fans, it's just another example of the bullshit thoughtlessness you see all over twitter and the internet, with people jumping straight to death threats and wild conspiracy theories. Congrats TNA and TNA fans, you're now genuinely something I hate rather than just something I find annoying.
RAVEN & SANDMAN VOLUME 1
ReplyDeleteHe got fired shortly after for stiffing the kid and not selling.
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched it in 2 decades so i can't remember if it's overly noticeable.

ReplyDeleteTwo browser windows? Multi tasking?
ReplyDeleteNow? What channel?
ReplyDeleteMatch is really good.
ReplyDeleteEVERYTHING IS FINE
ReplyDeleteThey never denied getting cancelled...
ReplyDeletePretty sure they did, at least initially.
ReplyDeleteShit like this makes it hard to feel sorry for TNA.
ReplyDeleteDixie claimed talks were going fine with Spike for WEEKS after Meltzer reported that they were fucked.
ReplyDeleteI have to say though, you have to give TNA credit. How many times have they been floating around? From the weekly PPVs, to Fox, to Spike, to Destination America.......somehow they keep going. I never thought they would make it this far. Doubt they are making money, but have to at least respect their ability to stay in the game.

Doubt they are making money? This company hasn't seen a profit since the light bulb was invented.
ReplyDeleteHow many Dixie Carter's does it take to change a light bulb? None, because we swear it's not burnt out!
ReplyDeleteSomeone awhile back shared a wiki or website with a year by year of every bonehead decision TNA ever made...anyone remember that?
ReplyDeleteI've seen the lawsuit threat, but I haven't seen TNA actually deny they're being canceled yet.
ReplyDeleteYou mean LOLTNA? Why it's right here!
ReplyDeletehttp://taimapedia.org/index.php?title=LOLTNA_History
That's officially the best analogy for TNA.
ReplyDeleteNo one's flat out denied it. They've all spoken around it, including their vague press release.
ReplyDeleteThey know it's true, they just don't want to admit it until they formulate a plan, if there's even one out there.
I haven't listen to Austin's podcast with Dixie just yet, but I do agree that that podcast happened a week too early.
ReplyDeleteYES, thank you! I'm just going to go ahead and add that to my bookmarks. Reading any of that at random and it seems like a miracle they survived this long in the first place.
ReplyDeleteWell in that statement they referred to false reports about their status.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely ridiculous. But it'll be a nice cliffs notes version of an eventual Death of TNA book.
ReplyDeleteTNAMecca got an orgasm from hearing this
ReplyDeleteI really want to hear how they'll react when it DOES get cancelled.
ReplyDeleteEverything is FINE.
ReplyDeleteWell, everything looks bad if you remember it.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid that some may actually kill themselves after a long denial process.
ReplyDeleteWho cares if that place is as bad as people say why does anyone bother even saying their name seems pointless
ReplyDeleteTNA: EVERYTHING IS FI----------
ReplyDeleteWe're sorry, but this sentence has been cancelled by Destination America. Please stay tuned for Bigfoot: The Legendary Journeys.
I really want DA to come out with a press release saying TNA is lying and they ARE cancelled
ReplyDeleteMan, I like me some Bigfoot stuff. But the monster shows they have are just fucking laughable.
ReplyDeleteTNA is a stupid name for a wrestling company. The fact that they still survived over a decade doesn't change that.
ReplyDeleteWill Scott show tough love and revoke the posting privilege of that who posted this slander?
ReplyDeleteThey have strayed so far from their original business plan that I doubt that a single person still with the compare remembers it.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a link to this email?
ReplyDeleteI want them to try suing Meltzer to see what happens
ReplyDeleteSo...has Destination America said anything about this yet?
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the reasons why I'll be so glad when TNA is gone for good.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you mock Mountain Monsters!
ReplyDeleteLol @ suing the news! Maybe they could get McDevvit to do it?
ReplyDeleteI just went over to TNA Mecca... damn, just... damn.

ReplyDeleteJobber, you're not at the game?
ReplyDeleteEven WWF1987 had turned on them.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense. And TNA is also being late on paying their employees because they have so much cash laying around it's blocking them from getting to the mailbox.
ReplyDeleteThat is just so Steel Reserve league right there. Heyman had no excuse to not pay his people, and he literally ran ECW out of his mom's basement. Panda Energy is a multi-national billion dollar company.
ReplyDeleteWell he wasn't called TNA 2005 or anything.
ReplyDeleteYou're either going to be disappointed it's not tits n ass or confused as to what kind of action that's not going to stop.
ReplyDeleteI imagine Dixie will just throw on an Impact DVD, invite the roster over and say "Look, we're still on!".
ReplyDeleteThey'll claim that Meltzer starting the rumor they got cancelled is what eventually gets them cancelled.
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/BGdOriN.gif
ReplyDeleteNo the last game I went to was Memphis game 2. I think I'll try and go to the next home game. Shit is just so expensive to fly up and get the ticket but I will go to one more for sure.
ReplyDeleteNah.
ReplyDeleteNotice how the one party that could clear this all up is the one party not making a statement.
ReplyDeleteDestination America could simply say "We are not canceling TNA." If this is all BS, why is the channel not denying it?
You owe it to yourself to read the whole thing
ReplyDeleteWith TNAMecca's insane worship and lame lawsuit threats, TNA is slowly becoming Scientology
ReplyDeleteLost in the TNA stuff, why did Dixie hire the broke Smashing Pumpkins guy as what sounds like an important writer there. I'm sure that will go well.
ReplyDeleteMay and beyond: TNA Gets Cancelled 2: Electric Boogaloo
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahha
On the WON forum, Dave responded to this "threat" by simply stating "I have records of all the email correspondence I've had with Dixie before I broke the story..." so I'd say this is just TNA lashing out because they don't get the opportunity to lie to their employees for a bit longer.

Every time I look at that "TNApedia' page, I marvel that this company has lasted half as long as it really has.
ReplyDeleteTNA is Frail and Bedazzled with Corgan around.
ReplyDeleteSo they're going for the ugly death rather than expire with a little dignity, huh? Can't say that I'm surprised.
ReplyDeleteThey can afford a lawyer out of company funds?
ReplyDeleteJoseph Park.
ReplyDeleteBC: Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteDC: Dixie Carter, Hiring Indiscrimantely.
oh, I mock. I mock HARD.
ReplyDeleteTNA threatening to sue the people who are repoting that they are getting cancelled is the most entertaining thing the company has done in years.
ReplyDeleteAnd Eric Young has tweeted basically calling Meltzer a "sad, sad loser"... what kind of Kool-Aid does Dixie give to her staff? You'd think they'd be mad at the people who make all the stupid decisions and hand them late paychecks, not the people who report on those scenarios. Bizarre.
ReplyDeleteIt's always amusing how TNA drawing low crowds and doing bad business is everyone else's fault except their own.
ReplyDeleteConsidering all the chances, pushes and air time they've given Young, it makes sense he's jumping to their defense. Seriously, if TNA goes belly up (emphasis on "if"; Jason Voorhees hasn't come back from the dead as often as TNA) where the hell is Eric going to go? No one with any sense will touch the man.
ReplyDeleteScientology makes money.

ReplyDeleteDixie issued the following statement:
ReplyDelete"“to all that this concerns… every person who posts nonsene about TNA getting cancelled, or sends private messages about it, WILL be deleted and BLOCKES! No exceptions to the rule. thanks."
Dixie supposedly CC'd in the President of DA, while writing in the email how Destination America were a bunch of dummies for moving their timeslot.
ReplyDeleteAlmost too stupid to believe.
+1 for my favorite Simpsons quote ever.
ReplyDeleteVerry Sunny day...
ReplyDeleteTNA = WERE GONE!

Jesse Sorensen - that one is definitely the easy pick.
