NXT 05.13.15

I kinda liked ditching the PBP and just talking about shit.  We'll see how it goes.  Show sucked.

Comments

  1. Maybe they'll just never give Nation's character a name and refer to him only in oblique references for his matches and promos.

  2. There's no other way for Takeover to end than Owens completely destroying Zayn again. The "third time's a charm" superdy-DUPER blowoff between these two when Zayn's healthy again is going to be bananas.

  3. When Zayn's overdubbed audio started off screen, all I kept thinking was Roger Myers' over dubbing Poochie with "I must go now. My planet needs me."

  4. I read Keith's rants for jokes and smarky observations, not for play-by-play

  5. Big Show wasn't on NXT!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Been saying for years that if it keeps you motivated to actually do rants and watch stuff, the Quick n Dirty style is the way to go. In a world where everything is available on the Network anyway we really don't need to read descriptions of each move.

  7. I was more excited for this Takeover before Itami and Zayn got hurt. Maybe Sami was going to job again at Takeover, maybe there would be some kind of shmozzy finish, but the results of the match are now largely a foregone conclusion. Also, with Itami busting out the GTS on a lot of house shows I was sort of figuring this was going to be his big win at Takeover & maybe Balor's swan song; now they'll have to write him out and probably keep Finn in NXT a while longer.

That being said, Takeover should be great anyway, with the women's title and tag matches, along with the tag belts & Rhino/Corbin

  8. Why would they "have" to keep Balor in NXT? Since when are the needs of NXT prioritized over the needs of WWE?

    ReplyDelete
  9. never said they have to keep him there, I said they probably will because there's no one to fill that hole right now. I guess they could just pull the trigger on someone new though

  10. I'd been looking forward to the review of this show. Good job. The moment when Russo completely broke the fourth wall, literally, by having Piper tear down his "office". I'd totally forgotten about the Scream guy. What garbage.

  11. Shooty comments is so, so far away from THIS WHOLE SHOW IS FAKE that they're not even comparable.

  12. He didn't set the world on fire, but at least he didn't set WCW on fire.

  13. Someone get the Daily Thread up so we can talk about Harry Shearer leaving the Simpsons

If that isn't a clear cut sign for that show to go away, I don't know what is.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm more concerned with the fact that the Art Donovan KOTR is on the Network right now!

They haven't named anyone "That Guy" yet. It could work.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The cash cow is shrinking, and the producers keep cutting the voice talent out. Shearer is always the one to be the holdout -- he didn't do the Simpsons ride or the Family Guy episode because he wasn't going to do them for free -- and it looks like he finally got to his breaking point.

How producers plan on replacing a guy who did about 33% of the voices on the show is a mystery to me.

  18. Let me know if you find out how much the wrestlers weigh.

We might be devolving into Team Carmella vs Team Alexa for hottest NXT Diva.

    I'm Team Alexa

  20. Cracked has an article up today about how animated shows are done. I'm guessing all of next season's episodes are done. However, ones for the season after that won't be able to have him.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Insert Mexican non Union equivalent joke here

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, he's probably done everything for Season 27 (starts September 2015), so his voice will be around for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Powerbombing Fuck....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Simpsons are renewed thru season 28. That's what, 2018? If next season is in the can, that's two seasons of no Shearer. A voice is replaceable but it's like when Mel Blanc stopping doing the Looney Tunes characters; just not the same no matter how good the story is.

  25. Y'know? I'm Team Bayley.

  30. dude how are they going to do burnss flanders etc. kill them all off??? maybe its a cue the simpsons should just stop. they havent been good since 97 anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  31. He's probably still sending texts trying to find out. There should be an app for him to keep us constantly aware of peoples' weight.

Actually, he should do weigh-ins for MMA and boxing. He's a natural.

    ReplyDelete
  32. tell that to some of the huge NXT nerds out there...

    ReplyDelete
  33. I would doubt that's even a priority for WWE. Baseball teams don't care about the minor league team's needs when they call up guys from AAA.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm Team Bayley's Ass

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, I couldn't imagine no Burns, Skinner, Flanders Kent Brockman.

An Art Donovan "How Much Does Dis Guy Weigh" App would be a goldmine. Take a picture with your device and then an automated Art voice would tell you that persons estimated weight.

  37. I always said you were an ass... ;-)

  38. "Randy, is this one of the wrestlers? ...He looks like... he looks like a business man!"

    ReplyDelete
  39. As long as it's her ass, that's fine by me

  40. Alexa is a better Kelly Kelly

Becky Lynch is growing on me. Bayley has a weird face. I may be Team Blue Pants.

  43. Burns: We'll take the Spruce Moose! Hop in!

    Smithers: Uh, but sir.....

Burns: *clicks revolver* I said hop in........

  44. By 1983, he was getting stale and getting called "Howdy Doody" by the Grand Wizard didn't help. He was a babyface who needed the belt to get over and when he didn't have the belt anymore, he was toast. He lasted about 7 months in the WWF after losing to the Sheik.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Man, what is all this bullshit revisionist history? Does anybody really believe that the WWWF would've kept the belt on Backlund for the best part of SIX YEARS if he wasn't actually drawing? That would've put them out of business!
Backlund was the top guy because the fans bought into him as a fighting champ who took on all the biggest and baddest heels and overcame them against all the odds. That was the formula that drew at that time. It didn't matter that Backlund's personality was "bland" according to standards that weren't set until a later era. At that time, the fans didn't expect the top face to have cool catchphrases and deliver exciting promos. He was supposed to be a clean cut and upstanding guy who overcame his opponents through pure athletic prowess. Backlund fit that image. He also delivered the best match on the card every night.
Saying that Billy Graham should've been on top instead is judging wrestling of that era according to a set of standards that did not really exist until later on. The WWWF did not run with a heel champion on top. They used heels as transitional champions. The idea is that they would have a dominant face champion who would be this humble, meat and potatoes, straight ahead athlete kind of guy, and that he would triumph over the colourful, flamboyant, arrogant heel. That kind of stuff doesn't really play these days, but back then it did.
Towards the end of the Backlund era, the formula had become stale, yes. The fans were ready for something new, and Hulk Hogan and VKM Jnr came along at just the right time to cater to that. But Backlund carried the company for six fckn' years prior to that. To suggest that he never "drew" as champ is utter nonsense.
