  1. Hopefully this will be better than the WWE Trivia App

    DID YOU KNOW
WWE SCORED A HIGHER 18-34 RATING THAN ALL OF DISNEY CHANNEL'S 5 AM OFFERINGS?!

  2. Wolf Hawkfield was a character in Air Wolf, I think.

  5. I actually remember that Bradshaw match just because it was so fucking boring, following that rare and decent Owen/Warrior one. That Bradshaw match, like so many others on the Network in various places, I never want to sit through again.

  6. Why not just bring in an actual jobber then for a fraction of the price? It's not like Vince had money to throw around in 96.

  7. Oh man, an "AWF" invasion. The WWF will never stand a chance with that round system.

  8. Brock Lesnar is very obviously on another level compared to everybody else. The closest comparison I can make between him and another wrestler is Andre. They weren't invincible, but all of their losses were upsets by definition. They're also relatively static, inhuman characters. They don't grow or change or development and portray emotional complexity. They're monoliths, obstacles, natural forces of the cosmos.

Steen is more of an Austin. His story is very human. He's a brawler, but he's also consumed with jealousy and bitterness and delusions about how the world works. He's funny, he's a guy you could imagine existing outside of the ring in a way that Lesnar can't be (what does Lesnar do for fun?) He's a guy who can be a cool dude or a sadistic bastard, but they're still on a continuity of inherently human traits.

Actually he's very Austin-like, not in the sense of he's a dude who does crazy shit and gets away with it, but in the sense that him being a heel and a face basically comes down to the perspective you frame him in. You could easily play his "family man" status as a face trait, and his envy towards others could be cast as ambition and drive.

  9. It's funny how this recap turned into who is fake and who is real instead of everyone piling on Matt.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I read on espn that the cubs have the exact opposite problems that the mets have. Way too many hitters to field. So the gm's have been talking. I'd hold off until everyone is healthy including wheeler and see what they have. But then again you have to strike while it's hot and there is no way the mets are going to afford all these guys in a few years.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I don't know, who?

  12. I'd settle for the top 20 Joey quotes.

  14. any answer on why Sid didn't join the nWo instead of coming back to the Fed? Did he still have heat from the scissor thing?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh, you missed a goddamn masterpiece. There were 7 fake accounts. The dude started piling on with each one. When nobody answered, he had the accounts talking to one another. THEN, he had one of the accounts reviewing porn flicks -- IN DETAIL. Then he started posting pics of the movies before the Mods had enough and kicked his ass out.

"Vince calls it a 'see-saw match-up,' his highest praise." That's your money's worth right there, ladies and gents. Laughed out loud. You've done it again, Mr. Keith.

  17. Then you'd hate the one I made the other night about returning my dbry action figure. Every time I take him out of the box he breaks

    ReplyDelete
  18. No it's not that. Your snark and jokes are fucking unbearable. To me when you start it up it sounds like ire pandering and trying to get the approval of the regular posters. When you stick to the actual show and keep your jokes away like in places were you put opinions or whatever instead of peppered all through the recap it reads better.

It's not that you suck as much as the writing style you're cribbing has been done to death both better and worse. The total diva reviews came off much better than these have to me. Hell even your one hour show reports were a lot more readable. bayless' I liked not because he wrote it but because it was short sweet and to the point. Even Chris' reports have gotten less readable as they've gotten longer and longer.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That's either impressive or real sad.

    ReplyDelete
  22. There's nothing I can do to improve on the things you're
criticizing because what you're disagreeing with is the style...though, honestly, I think you're moving the goalposts after I've shot down the initial "you suck" argument. We've already been over the issues of length and formatting and...sorry. That's the way it is, man. I'm not changing this format because it works for me and we both know that style, like humor, is subjective. So, I accept your criticism -- but the only thing I can suggest, in the
friendliest manner possible, is to move over to Bayless's stuff and not
read mine anymore -- and that isn't because I can't take criticism.

    It's
that this review cannot be molded into what you want so your complaints will, ultimately, fall on deaf ears. If you continue to come here, great. Welcome. I don't have an issue with that. But I'm just letting you know that, bearing in mind what I've already
explained to you, you know what you're getting into each week, which
makes complaining about it moot. I can't help you if you have a masochistic streak and a penchant for bitching about it when it manifests itself here. If you don't like it, you don't have to read it. You also don't need to continue to tell me how awful I am because this report doesn't cater to your personal standards.

I mean no offense in any of what I said. Everything I'm telling you is meant to be benign in nature.

  23. I was thinking the same think. I'm 95% certain that RAW began airing on TSN in the fall of 1994 -- one of the very first RAWs I remember seeing had Bulldog/Neidhart in the feature match (so not too long after SummerSlam).

Of course, RAW on TSN was at first jammed into a horrible timeslot...5 am on Sunday for the previous Monday's episode, iirc.

    ReplyDelete
  24. well, only in direct comparison at the time. because as ChrisH already mentioned, that first episode has had a 15.2 rating and is said to have had 33 million viewers. the best rating any tv show had last week was NCIS with 14,5 million viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So a couple weeks back I mentioned the way to go with Rusev would be to split Lana from him, giver her to someone who needed the heat and through the course of that feud turn Rusev face. It would appear thats what is coming to fruition here, there is no way those that aryan wet dream of a couple could pass for a babyface act in this or any era.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree EC reeks of desperation, not that I'm complaining, If it takes dramatic efforts to create a captivating product week in and week out then they should operate like this more often. But yeah anytime you see something like a 12 man match inside of an Elimination Chamber I cant help but feel a bit pandered too.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They're barely on the road so they don't have the crazy expenses the main roster guys have. The guys on TV are doing OK for themselves. And those not on TV, who cares? It's a 25k a year internship to pursue a crazy-ass dream

    ReplyDelete
  28. NO it really doesn't. As it's not an actual athletic contest. Rey can wrestle big show and win. So long as it's entertaining that's all that counts.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That depends on a multitude of factors.

    ReplyDelete
  30. A 30 something guy like Owens with a family probably needs to make more than 25k

  32. The Michaels matches are really good. I think Steen has had matches that are just as good (first against Elgin for one). I concede my above point should change too "Nick Foley never had a match that matched Steen's best work SAVE for his matches with Shawn."

I still think on average Steen/Owens is better. I know movez is the smallest part of being great, but Foley was really limited without gimmicks. I can go either way as to who was a better hardcore worker, but In a straight one on one match? I take Owens.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, as long as the weight he's losing isn't internal organs or a limb, it'd probably be good to shed some pounds.

  37. The top guys were making more on the indys if the reported numbers are true. It's the reason the news about Devitt making more makes so much sense. The guy who was his right hand man in Japan is making 700,000 himself to be a tag champ. Japan could have made Devitt a millionaire.

  39. I haven't seen that much NXT, but this was how Generico's character worked. Perpetual underdog.

It took an entire year for him to beat Steen in a Singles match during their much talked about ROH feud. He got a couple Tag victories with Corino eating the fall to justify the continuation of the feud but he never conclusively bested Steen until the final confrontation

  41. Yeah, TV is much different these days. The internet and other things have changed everything. What's now a monster hit does ratings that would get the show cancelled in the 1980s.

  42. Love's A Bitch isn't even one of the stronger ones. Breathless, Run For Cover, Let's Get Crazy, Don't Wanna Let You Go are all better. Not that Love's A Bitch is bad by any means.

Neither is Owens. He's portrayed as someone who cheats, takes advatanges of situations, hits you from behind, and then murders you.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The problem right now for the Mets is that they have 11 starters/relievers on the DL. At this point they just have to stay afloat while the guys come back. In order to succeed you need to be strong up the middle. d'Arnaud is very good and Legares is VERY good. Murphy has surprisingly turned himself into a serviceable MLB second baseman, who can hit. But he's not anything more than average. Flores on the other hand, is horrible. Flores can hit sometimes but can't field and Tejada is solid in the field but atrocious at the plate. They need to do something in the middle and I feel like they're going to trade Murphy unfortunately. I would love to see them trade Niese, Gee, and Tejada to the Sox for Boegarts, but even he is struggling in the field and has been average at the plate. Harvey Wheeler deGrom Syndergaard and Matz is a dream rotation. But until Montero is back and healthy there's not much you can do with the rotation. I could see them trading Colon too. I'd be sad to see Colon and Gee go but they have the arms, now they need the bats and an actual glove at short. Also, the issue with the Cubs is that the guys aren't even settled yet. Bryant will probably move to the OF, so they won't have a surplus in the infield, and will be less likely to trade one of those guys. Castro is always an option but he goes through mental and physical slumps.

  46. Did you know: Even when WWE wasn't getting ratings as high as WCW Nitro, based on the far more important numbers of live event attendance, merchandise sales, and PPV revenue, WWE was performing much better than WCW.

    ReplyDelete
  47. They probably also thought Vader/Warrior was a money match down the line and didn't want to waste it on a shitty Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't get why they didn't just say Warrior was injured in the beatdown and out of the PPV match. I guess it would have been hard to justify Sid randomly being at the building later in the show to replace him but since they ALREADY FILMED A 3-ON-1 BEATDOWN it would make sense to use THAT as an excuse.

Sorry, I'd rather have your New York Metropolitans hit the skids so Alderson gets tossed and Backman gets the call-up he deserved this year.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I feel like Backman is a bit overrated. To each their own though.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yup completely agree. Plus with Cano's deal I can see a team giving him at least half of that if not more. And They need that money to keep paying Bobby Bonilla.

  53. It's not that it's not "politically correct" it's RACIST to use that. There's a difference.

    ReplyDelete
  54. When people use the term "moo point", are they just trying to be ironic, or is it that they really think this is the correct term?

  55. Read a review on the new album recently, calling them a pastiche and losing their sense of humour, and tantamount to a pub band. I see them as good songwriters of catchy rock songs.
