Where does TNA go from here?

Okay, so by the beginning of October, TNA will no longer have TV in the U.S.

But they'll still have international distribution deals that they need to fulfill, right?

So will they keep taping and airing TV for international markets and show Impact online like they did after they got the boot from FSR?

Or, if TNA really does go out of business, can the international TV networks sue them for not delivering a promised product?

-Paul.

I think by that point getting sued for non-delivery would be the least of their worries.  Not being a legal type, however, I have no idea how their deals would work or how long that TNA would keep foolishly clinging to life.  I mean, I guess in theory they could keep making TV shows, but Destination America is footing most of the bill at this point so I don't even know if they have the cash to produce their own product.

  1. The current situation is in a satisfactory or pleasing manner; very well.

  2. They'll keep scrambling to fund anther tv channel that's clueless and will take then like destination america did, maybe they'll get lucky? Maybe Yahoo or Netflix will take a shot at hosting a wrestling promotion? Wait and see I guess.

  4. When you look at the story of the Bischoff/Hervey lawsuit, and the rumors going back over a year now of production people not being paid, it really seems like there is just so little money being made by the company; and what little they make on the gate for their TV tapings is being divvied up by the talent that's been more vocally insistent on being paid. I doubt Destination America paid them a huge sum of money upfront. Seems like they've gotten some, which the company scattered about paying bills. If this is even close to what's been happening for the last year (and given the talent that's left it really seems to be), then you gotta figure at some point all but the most delusionally faithful workers will leave the company if and when Destination America pulls the plug. Then you've gotta figure Dixie will beg a skeleton crew of workers to stay and do occasional shows--paid directly out if the show's gates--to tape material for the international shows, while the company desperately searches for a new domestic TV home. TNA won't die until the very last wrestler looks Dixie in her tear-stained, mascara-runny face and says "no."

  5. Yeah, but you've have to assume their debts.

It'd be hilarious if they kept on going as an independent promotion in Florida.

Well, more so than they already are, I mean.

  7. Without TV, the company is dead. And I doubt anyone will take a chance on wrestling while WWE is still ruling the roost in this country.

Lol. TNA will never actually die. Bob Carter will just buy TruTV so they have a station to run on.

  9. I think it's dead.

It seems more likely at this point that Jarrett find a taker for GFW and picks the corpse of TNA for their best talent (and maybe their tape library, although WWE should want that too), than it does TNA finds a new network.

At the end of the day, why would you ever want to deal with Dixie if you're a network head, especially when you have substantial evidence that Jarrett can at least deliver the same product with less drama and more conservative business practices.

  10. The funniest thing ever would be if the Carters double down and decide to start the TNA Network online.

  11. Come to think of it, since Dixie's dad has sunk so much money into TNA, why wouldn't Panda just make the ad buys to keep TNA going.

  12. I'd bet that happens over TNA dying.

  13. Dixie Carter is the Number 1 reason for the sorry shape that TNA find itself in right now if someone had just taken her out of the Picture then the company might have a decent chance at survival

  14. Shes responsible for Jarrett leaving and starting GFW and apparently everyone was on board with Paul Heyman joining in 2010 but she didn't agree with turfing Russo or the old vets.

  15. It's pretty much the opposite: the Carter family have been what's kept TNA alive. Unless they sold it off outright the company dies the second they wash their hands of it. That's what's only now sinking in to TNA fans. Complaining about how they run TNA is like complaining what scarf Dixie wears or what color car she drives.

  16. Only $9.98/mo! We'll show those bastards in Stamford a thing or two!

  17. Now would be a fine time to make sure they still have Joseph Park on retainer

  18. What gate? Most of the tapings this year have been in the Impact Zone, meaning absolutely zero gate

  19. Maybe TNA can sell themselves as a developmental organization for NXT?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Which is ironic, because she's also the reason that the company didn't die years ago.

  21. Does a company like Panda Energy even need to advertise to the general public?

  22. Surprised that Japan wouldn't have any interest in Kurt Angle.
