WWE Negotiating a Deal With WWN Live?

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the WWE was upset over the fact that Ring of Honor released an action figure of Kevin Steen (The deal was originally signed in late 2013 but there were delays on the company, Figures Inc, end). A source told Johnson that the WWE does not want to get into a situation where they sign someone and have to go through a third party in order to license them (Figures Inc. is planning on a line of wrestling action figures of Independent Talents) so they are in preliminary talks to form a relationship with WWN, allowing them to sign talents to deals that would include merchandising and licensing rights so if and when the WWE wanted to bring them into NXT they would not have to go through a third party to get a deal done.

Vince McMahon Unhappy Over Steve Austin's Podcast with Paul Heyman?

Vince was reportedly upset over the end of Austin's podcast with Heyman when he teased a Texas Death Match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania as that match is not in the WrestleMania plans and he teased it happening on the WWE Network. It was also said by Dave Meltzer on "Wrestling Observer Radio" today that he heard Vince does not want Austin to wrestle as the risk of injury with him in the ring at his age and health is too high.

Bray Wyatt Update

It's been reported that the reason Wyatt has been losing so much lately is because they are eventually going to turn him babyface so their mentality is that it doesnt matter if he loses now as a heel.

WWE Planning More Live Specials on the Network?

As of now, the plan for 2016 is for the WWE to air live specials on a quarterly basis.

  1. Hey, we're just gonna make him a sympathetic babyface, so let's cut his balls off while he's a heelish jerk. It won't matter once we turn him.

"Vince does not want Austin to wrestle as the risk of injury with him in the ring at his age and health is too high."

    - Good. Does that mean we can lay to rest the nonsense about Hogan wrestling at 92 or whatever he is now?

Job him out so he can be a weak babyface too. Got it

  7. RIP to Christopher Lee. It's shit he didn't make it long enough to have his consciousness uploaded to the matrix.

  8. Hogan can still slam Big Show & Kane single handedly even if they don't co-operate.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Austin has severe neck problems. A match with Lesnar isnt going to help that. And Meltzer believes that philosophy will ring true for Hogan as well.

  17. Baby steps. Can we at least lay to rest the bullshit about AUSTIN wrestling now? Austin hasn't mentioned it seriously in years and Vince, the guy who is currently working on resurrecting Jesus AT Wrestlemania 32 to sell the joint out has put the kibosh on it. It's over.

He says, "Should't you kids be in school?"

Kids: "No way, we're going to the arcade!"

Him: "The arcade?? You need to be in school getting an education...and I'm going to take you there!"

  26. Bray turns babyface and it doesn't matter if he loses. Brock turns babyface by kicking the shit out of everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  27. He returned the other day to hype Hogan-Punk for next year's mania.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Turning Wyatt face COULD be easy, but they need to give him the Wyatt Family back and give him a serious aim. If he turns face solo and instead of pinning R-Truth, he's pinning Wade Barrett, who gives a fuck?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Here's the other part that's nutty and stupid - so if they keep jobbing Wyatt out, saying "it doesn't matter if he loses because he's a heel, we're turning him anyway".....why would anyone want to cheer a loser?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wade Barrett? Or was that a rhetorical question?

    ReplyDelete
  36. So toy companies are now deciding who can and can't sign with what company? Ridiculous

    ReplyDelete
  37. "It's been reported that the reason Wyatt has been losing so much lately is because they are eventually going to turn him babyface so their mentality is that it doesnt matter if he loses now as a heel."

Because fans love to get behind a guy that loses all the time. This is mind boggling.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I was thinking Manny Fernandez vs. Chavo.

    ReplyDelete
  40. In all fairness, Austin wrestling is a wild brawl and several wrestling moves for 20 minutes. Hogan wrestling is throwing a few punches, lifting his foot in the air, and sitting down while draping his leg over someone, and then 5 minutes of posing.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I guess the thinking is that once they turn him, the slate gets wiped clean and it's like he's debuting all over again. Unfathomably stupid.

Time was, if you were gonna turn a guy and had no plans for him until that happened, you'd take him off TV. That way, he returns, you go "oh, hey, Bray Wyatt! I remember him! I wonder what he's here for..."

Then he turns and you cheer it. Done.

I guess the 2015 version of that is "here's a guy who has been jobbed out for months. Cheer him!"

    ReplyDelete
  42. What in the world about Bray's character says "babyface?"

    ReplyDelete
  43. The more they jobbed out Bryan, the louder the chants for him became.

    ReplyDelete
  44. They already really liked him, though. He's a special case if I've ever seen one.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Why sign a guy if you can't make merch money off of him? That is the whole point or wrestling, making money.

    ReplyDelete
  46. No?

The deal for the Steen figure was signed way before Steen signed with the WWE. A delay on the production end led to the ROH figure of Steen being released after he had left the company. Did you even read the blurb?

    ReplyDelete
  53. He was a heel that got cheered not just because he lost, but because of the humiliating nature of his loss.

If anything, Bray needs MORE humiliation to get cheered.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Bray is easy to turn face. Even if he was still a cult leader, just have him convert heels. If you can get people to cheer for a functionally-retarded kleptomaniac, you can get people to cheer for Bray Wyatt.

Same policy applies to WWE and Mattel. Once someone leaves the company, Mattel can't make any more new figures of that person unless they cut a direct deal with the wrestler (and WWE has give Mattel the OK since it will be a WWE product).

    - Every time they report that Vince was angry with Austin, first thing Austin does is get on his show and say everything's fine, shuttup. So whatever, neither Austin nor Hogan will wrestle at Mania, esp. not Hogan because he's not even medically cleared to wear the bandana at this point.

  163. Not seeing it.

  164. Ha! I made a pun comment on the latest Cyanide & Happiness video on YouTube and it's probably going to break 1,000 likes very soon. So there!

  165. I feel they don't really go after actually tough or annoying organizations like WWF (and probably PETA and those sorts).

  166. Must be just me then.

  167. They Austin/Heyman podcast was a few weeks ago

  168. The point is that it's just like when the report was that Vince and Austin had heat from the hunter podcast. Totally made up.

  169. I really liked their Survivor Series 2004 match even though I was the only one

  170. He actually had quite a surprising take on things to be honest.

  171. I would have to assume the only reason they didn't was because they received such a legal bashing the first time they wouldn't dare.

  172. His Count Dooku and Saurman were really good.

  173. Knowing WWE they'd put him out there anyway but then have to end up actually giving him a push to get them off their backs, like they did with RTC.

  174. I miss everything these days. What did Punk say.

    ReplyDelete
  175. He told Hogan he'd wreck him for being bad at knowing about hockey. Xavier sided with Punk and renounced Hulkamania forever!

  176. That feud with Jericho did nothing but kill some time. The Ambrose feud was memorable but probably in a bad way (holograms, TVs)

  177. Christopher Lee in the Wicker Man. That movie scared the hell out of me. I won't have anything wicker in the house.

  178. According to Scott, apparently Vince was going to wrestle someone in a panda suit at one of those UK ppvs when they lost their copyright to the World Wildlife Fund. Sadly, he got talked out of it.

  179. Austin should get his podcast as far the fuck away from WWE as possible and never look back.

He's been building the thing for years, it's popular and he gets full financial benefit from it (minus whatever rev-share he's in with PodcastOne). And most of all, he has no content restrictions, other then what he imposes on himself (splitting the feed into "clean" and "uncensored" versions, for instance).

That's the beauty of podcasts or YouTube channels or other end-user generated media content. You're not bound by network standards or the unpredictable whims of some weird executive. If Vince wants a WWE-approved interview show, he should produce it himself. Austin's already done the hard work. He shouldn't let someone else fuck with it.

  180. Kristaps Porzingis seems to be the latest Chad Ford obsession. Hopefully he doesn't become shit like Darko, Yi, and Pavel Podkolzin.

  181. Great flick, AWFUL remake. "Oh God, not the bees!"

    ReplyDelete
  182. I think that was a different era. There's so much that goes into vetting these foreign prospects now, I think the odds of another Darko aren't any greater than a top college player being a bust.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Aren't they trying to turn him into The Undertaker: Part Deux with the "new face of fear" promos and such?

    ReplyDelete
  184. Not really. Jan Vesely wasn't too long ago.

Guy was a real life badass.

    ReplyDelete
  186. I'm not saying you won't have busts. I'm just saying the amount of time invested in scouting these guys is significantly more.

When Darko was drafted, foreign scouting was really primitive. It's actually what allowed the Spurs to gain such an advantage, because they invested so many resources in it and stashed guys like Ginobli, Parker, Splitter, etc.
