​I'm gonna take a shot at an obit piece tonight on Sporting News once I compose my thoughts and find some favorite memories on YouTube.  This one actually shook me up a bit.  Hopefully they do something nice for him on the PPV Sunday.  ​

    I am happy for him that he got his final angle with his boys against the authority and an emotional pay-off. They better be ready at the pay window in heaven.

    I just watched like 4 of his promos on YouTube 2 or 3 times each. Definitely got some goosebumps/throat lump feelings. He was as good as it gets.

    My first exposure to Dusty was when I was 10 or 11 years old and I started watching WCW to see if Hulk Hogan had actually turned heel (I think my Dad was actually more curious than I was - Iremember him being totally incredulous when I told him Hogan turned). Dusty was the commentator on WCW Saturday Night, and he was just such a goof that you had to love him. His "goin' to the pay windah!" line always had me feeling terrible for the jobbers, because as a young mark I actually believed that only the winners of the matches go paid. So not only did this geek get squashed, but he also didn't make any money doing so. Oh to be naive lol. R.I.P. Dusty.

    My first time seeing Dusty Rhodes was at Survivor Series 1989 in the Rosemont Horizon...his sell job of being choked by the Big Boss Man's club was hilarious...and such a weak blade job too...but Dusty was a charisma machine and did the most with what he had...

    RIP Dusty Rhodes...Virgil Runnels may be gone, but the American Dream will live forever...

    To all those who run him down as a bad worker, Flair himself has been the first to champion how good Dusty was in the ring. "You really thought I carried 300 60-minute matches all by myself?"

    My first time seeing Dusty had to have been on a late 80s episode of Superstars. The Polka dot era. All the big kids thought he was cool, so of course, I did too.
