WWE Money In The Bank Live Thread

Talk about the PPV, or the NBA Finals, or anything else on your mind.

Comments

  1. Crisis is hot garbage by today's standards. Recommended for historical value only, which probably wouldn't mean anything to a new reader/non-fan anyway.

Go with the original Infinity Gauntlet, for older stuff. Something more modern - try Annihilation.

    ReplyDelete
  2. IT'S THE NIGHT OF REMATCHES!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Civil War is a good starting point for new readers. Infinity Gauntlet holds up pretty well and is important to the MCU. On the dc side, Blackest Night is fun but it helps to read the other Green Lantern stories leading up. I'm not a big advocate of event comics myself. Most of them suck.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I hope Neville pulls off some crazy shit tonight. Him, Kofi and Dolph should make for an entertaining match.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ferrari and #Curry posting the threads today... what has the world come to?

  6. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:00 PM

Blackest Night was a pretty good event, as was Final Crisis.

    ReplyDelete
  7. First time comic story, watchmen 100%. Superhero wise, daredevil. The Frank miller omnibus's

Event style, for dc, I really liked the sinestro corp war with green lantern was awesome.

For marvel, maybe crisis on infinte earth? Or, the annihilation cross over with the galactic characters is ace.

  8. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:01 PM

    Oh thank God.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Welp, guess it's time to switch off the Fixer Upper marathon on HGTV cool slasher flicks for the PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:01 PM

It's a dirty job but someone has to do it...

    ReplyDelete
  11. In memory of Dusty, I expect some straight-up clubberin' tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Can't go wrong with starting with All-Star Superman.

Events: The whole House of M/Civil War/World War Hulk/Secret Invasion/Siege era was really fun even if it ran out of steam towards the end.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's what I used to say about banging my ex.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Kick off starts with Rhodes tribute picture and Renee doing an impression. Nice.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:02 PM

That's what I still say about banging my ex.

    ReplyDelete
  16. What tropes are left for the Money in the Bank winner to accomplish?

First MitB holder to win WWE Title to win title without using MitB contract.

First MitB holder to get fired before caahing in

First MitB holder to fail to cash in during alloted time period.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm sure she considered it to be a small chore.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think #2 was Kennedy right?

    ReplyDelete
  19. He lost the contract due to injury first, then got fired later.

    ReplyDelete
  20. And some kickin in the belly welly.

    ReplyDelete
  21. They should've done the finish from the Chamber's PPV on this one instead.

    ReplyDelete
  22. First MITB holder to lose a normal WWE Title match only to immediately cash in and win the title in the second match.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Events are rarely good. Here's my top 3. Top 5, really

    1. Annihilation - I almost surprise myself putting this first. But, in retrospect... it's perfect. It's completely disconnected from the mainstream Marvel U (which makes it much more accessible,) tells you everything you need to know about Marvel's cosmic properties and... well.... it's a fucking great story. If you want to know why Marvel took a chance on a "Guardians of the Galaxy" film, this is where the seeds were sown.

    2. The X-Men Messiah Trilogy (Messiah Complex/Messiah War/Second Coming) - Want all the X-Men being awesome without drowning in 90's dialogue during fights? This is your go-to story (or stories.) Complex is probably the best part, but the finale with "Second Coming" - with the X-Men now counting the likes of Magneto and Namor as members - has me marking out every time.

    3. Infinity Gauntlet - Also cosmic, but more grounded with Marvel's
heroes from Earth. Probably the best Thanos story, and the fight between
the skeleton crew of Marvel heroes and the Mad Titan is one of the best
you will ever find without a drop of blood being shed.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Graves almost losing it talking about Dusty.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The original Secret Wars. Good story, noteworthy changes, and a significantly altered MU that changed in the span of a month, but took you an entire year to learn all the hows & whys.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Finish to ladder match I'd like to see: Rollins raises the briefcase so high that nobody can get it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Someone already champion winning the MitB.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Booker is terrible here.

Even talking about a real friend dying he still sound disinterested.

    ReplyDelete
  29. He's having some trouble holding together.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah Graves, who knew him a fraction amount of the time could barely hold it together.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:07 PM

Fucking iPhone cord is frayed and only mostly working. Gotta break out the spare one when I get home.

    ReplyDelete
  32. ThebrazilianpsychoJune 14, 2015 at 5:07 PM

    Randy Orton.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Kinda insensitive having a guy named Graves on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kennedy looks so sad losing his briefcase. At least you made some sort of history there, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  35. That story is cool, but some really dumb shit happens. Like Spider-Man making the X-Men look foolish and the many Shooterisms (ie: everyone calling each other by their names for no reason at the start of each issue.)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Neville looks like a bad guy in a 90s cyberhacker movie.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kid is always wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  38. ThebrazilianpsychoJune 14, 2015 at 5:08 PM

    I read the thing wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's his gimmick!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Money in the Bank\ Shawty what ya thank

    ReplyDelete
  41. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:08 PM

I'm nowhere near as excited about this show as I was two weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  42. All Star Superman is my favorite thing Morrison has ever written and one of my favorite comics ever.

    ReplyDelete
  43. So it's every pay-per-view since 2007?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh GOD that song was everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I was thinking that too... I get excited for shitty shows... and this one should be good... but I am not hyped at all.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The only guy from the first Money in the Bank still on the active roster is Kane.

    ReplyDelete
  47. My 11.99 (Canadian) this month belongs to Kevin Owens.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I remember it being prominently featured in one of the Smackdown games

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'd like to see the MitB briefcase be like a bearer bond and someone take the physical case from the winner and cash in.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Edge-Undertaker MITB cash-in, champion needs to be standing to start the match - OFF

    ReplyDelete
  51. That match in the Silverdome.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Pulling so hard for Big E to run down during MITB and push Kofi up the ladder on his shoulder to win the briefcase, then months of New Day trying to figure out how three guys can cash in one briefcase.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:11 PM

The Owens-Cena rematch being so rushed kills me because I can only see bad things happening, and the MitB match seems like such a foregone conclusion, that if someone ELSE wins, I might be too weirded out to enjoy it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh yeah I remember that game; my roommate had it and we recreated the NES Pro Wrestling guys. Lil Scrappy is from STL so I heard it all over the radio too.

    ReplyDelete
  55. If Ownes wins clean again here WTF do they do with the nXt title? Doesn't he seem kind of above it?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Plus Xavier Woods victory celebration would be the best moment of the PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  57. JBL goes from "oh no, not this way, not on The Undertaker" to "THIS IS BRILLIANT MAGGLE" in 30 seconds.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Cena & Sandow were the two guys I think.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:11 PM

"ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?"

"Mostly, but Portuguese is my first language."

    (Gets shot anyway)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Goes to Balor in Japan either way, I would guess.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'm going to go ahead and predict Sheamus winning MitB.

    ReplyDelete
  62. LOL this might be the funniest thing you've ever posted.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:12 PM

    He's jobbing in Tokyo.

    ReplyDelete
  64. and I'm going to make MitB and TAG TEAM MATCH

    ReplyDelete
  65. Title for Title match at Battleground.

After he wins he relinquishes the NXT belt allowing for NXT to crown a new champion.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Just to have a different prediction or you really think Reigns isn't getting it?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:13 PM

I think they'll give it Balor on 7/4, but I still think they should strip him of the NXT title, with the explanation that he signed a WWE contract and no longer is an NXT roster member.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh I get what you mean, but I read so much of that from that era that it never really bothered me.

The thing that still sticks with me is not only how so many of the iconic characters are played true to form, but some of the stuff they did with lesser characters. The Lizard, Enchantress, Molecule Man--interesting stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:13 PM

Really? I think I've posted way funnier shit then that.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't think Reigns is getting it. They'll probably do something where Rollins screws him out of it and someone else wins. They seem hellbent on Reigns doing this the right way, probably at Summerslam?

Sheamus is the only other credible one out of the field.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Random fact for tonight: Kane will be in his 7th MITB match, the new record holder.

    ReplyDelete
  72. They stripped Paige, but that's only because she was also WWE Divas champ.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Punk's cash-in on Edge is great for 3 reasons - 1) cashing on someone like Edge is great, 2) Batista's WTF? look as Punk passes him by on the ramp is hilarious, 3) the really happy girl with the MARRY ME CM PUNK sign has tits that jiggle wonderfully when she celebrates.

    ReplyDelete
  74. If it's not Reigns, I'm shocked.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:14 PM

    I think Dolph will win.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:15 PM

I don't see them giving Owens the US Title, but maybe they should.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I love how Punk basically cashes in and acts the exact same way the next year.

    ReplyDelete
  78. It's not a lounge, it's a curtain with a tv screen.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wow. All kinds of shit being thrown at Vince for betraying Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'd like to be the one that stripped Paige.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I loved the fan reaction video that came out after that cash-in, the hick family that was HIGHLY offended Punk would cash on Jeff.

    ReplyDelete
  82. #AskKO When do we get a match between you & BROCK LESNAR?

    ReplyDelete
  83. R-Truth beats Barrett
    Cena beats Owens
    New Day beats Primetime Players
    Nikki beats Paige
    Ryback beats Big Show
    Roman wins MITB
    Ambrose beats Rollins

    ReplyDelete
  84. King Barrett is the jobbingest King ever

    ReplyDelete
  85. One of the most logical heel turns since The Megapowers Exploding.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Most Rumbles without a win and Most MitB's without a win, is he up to 20 losses combined yet?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Whoa! Rock Bottom to Steph!

    ReplyDelete
  88. He won MITB a few years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Rock turn tonight for Roman? Ambrose beats Rollins in a war, Roman cashes in, Rock heel turn promo on Raw.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Brazilian Kid, is that you?

    ReplyDelete
  91. He won in 2010 and cashed in the same night. It was great!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Had the feeling for a month, why divert from it now - Reigns wins MITB, Ambrose beats Rollins, Reigns cashes on Ambrose.

    ReplyDelete
  93. They could do it that way, but the better move might be the slow burn where Ambrose slowly goes crazy with paranoia about Roman cashing in on him and then he's proven right.

    ReplyDelete
  94. If the briefcase falls off the rope, does that make the briefcase itself the MitB holder?

    ReplyDelete
  95. My feels couldn't take that.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Now for the ultra-memorable Thwagger cash-in...didn't even recall it was against Jericho.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Did he?
Oh yeah after a quick wikipedia search he did. I wasn't watching then.

    ReplyDelete
  98. So of everyone they have under contract how are these three idiots the best choice for a pre-show panel?

    ReplyDelete
  99. How bummed out is everyone going to be if Ambrose and KO get jobbed out and Reigns win the MITB?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJune 14, 2015 at 5:20 PM

I don't know if Ambrose wins tonight, but I'm almost certain Reigns walks out with the title. Tomorrow night, it's revealed that he has sided with the Authority and Rollins is out.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I posted this earlier today, but let me put it on here too.

Kofi Kingston is gonna be found beat up in the locker room area, and we won't know who did it until Brock Lesnar enters the Money in the Bank Match in Kofi's place. Brock Lesnar wins the match to set up Seth Rollins Vs. Brock Lesnar at Battleground and Kofi Vs. Brock in Japan.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Rock, best and worst show for the 99 Season?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Remember Ron Burgundy's eyeballs after being told his hair was stupid?

    ReplyDelete
  104. I love All Star Superman, but that's not an event as the reader had asked about.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Kane's search for the real culprit of "WHO PUT UNDERTAKER IN A COMA" when it was clearly Kane who had done it was a surprisingly entertaining storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  106. How many wrestlers forever have their best match obscured due to it involving Chris Benoit?

    ReplyDelete
  107. I want Reigns to win MitB and don't particularly want Ambrose to win.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Angle and Kevin Sullivan?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Brock/Kofi is just a random match so Brock can get a free trip to Japan.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I could see that happening except Lesnar only enters the MITB at the very end.

He is not doing the high flying spots.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Certain people will throw smarky tantrums, but don't think it's a big deal. Especially Owens losing. Cena/Owens is going longer no matter what, the only match that matters is the blow off.

Reigns winning MITB is the telegraphed result. Shouldn't surprise anyone at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  112. It says something for the excitement of the stip that even Swagger got an excited pop for his win.

    ReplyDelete
  113. It'll be Barrett Vs R-Truth

    ReplyDelete
  114. Marquee victory?

    ReplyDelete
  115. JoJo can get it.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Oh boy, what a treat!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Best: Backlash 99
Worst: King of the Ring 99

    ReplyDelete
  118. Austin's second best match?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:22 PM

I want Ambrose to lose, but I really hope Steen goes over.

    ReplyDelete
  120. My heart wants The New Day to win MITB but my head says Reigns.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I laughed at how Ryback addressed JoJo

    ReplyDelete
  122. She still has a job, she was so dull she got cut from Total Divas

    ReplyDelete
  123. Ryback believes in The Big Show theory!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Yeah, the shakiest part of that sequence, the link I'm unsure of, is Ambrose beating Rollins. But I feel like the big red arrow has been lit, you know?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Which is funny when the Guardians didn't even show up until the second Annihilation even, Conquest, and only after that got their own title.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Christ....STOP LOOKING AT THE FUCKING CUE CARD.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I think Ryback read Rock's Big Show theory lol

    ReplyDelete
  128. And he's one of rocks favorite wrestlers!!,

    ReplyDelete
  129. Jojo is AWFUL. Good thing she would make for a good spinner.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Holding a microphone and looking cute is right up her alley

    ReplyDelete
  131. "The Big Guy doesn't like bullies..." except for when he was one.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I'm watching the Nintendo World Championships and this place has gone insane for the Super Metroid race.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Rikishi & Brian Christopher

    ReplyDelete
  134. She's got a Downtown Julie Brown vibe.

    ReplyDelete
  135. ThebrazilianpsychoJune 14, 2015 at 5:23 PM

    Jericho, HBK, HHH.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I've got Foley. Rock and Angle above the Benoit one. Austin's in a weird place where spectacle is just as important as workrate. Only Hogan's got that problem. It not only has to be great it has to be insanely memorable.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Ryback should always get interviewed by her just so he can say "Jojo."

    ReplyDelete
  138. Even when he WAS a bully, he didn't like bullies. That's part of what made his heel gimmick decent.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Between 05 and the Pipe Bomb the only things I can remember and got me watching for more than 2 weeks were Ortons Rumble win and punting Vince (Stopped after HHH neutered him at WM), Bret Hart and Nexus debut (Stopped after Cena neutered them at SS)

    ReplyDelete
  140. Wrong, wrong, and wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Are you seriously proposing that HBK and HHH's best match was with Benoit?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Yeah did he think you said you would like to have a deep, meaningful, philosophical conversation with her or something?

    ReplyDelete
  143. She does. That makes it better.

    ReplyDelete
  144. ThebrazilianpsychoJune 14, 2015 at 5:24 PM

    The Big Guy can read?

    ReplyDelete
  145. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:24 PM

Super Metriod is one of the best games ever made.

    ReplyDelete
  146. He could just enter at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  147. This made me want to play it all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I personally only put the Bret match above the Edmonton match but I could see where people would put other matches above for various matches. The Edmonton match was basically everything I love about wrestling condensed to 20 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  149. This show doesnt really excite me all that much to be honest. MitB, Ambrose/Rollins and Cena/Owens should be fine but other than that I dont care at all. And the Cena/Owens rematch is way too soon. Doesnt make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  150. huh...anyone know what song is being used on the network right now? Called "Get Busy" I think.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Ripping off Bust A Move

    ReplyDelete
  152. I did. I bet she's a very reflecting and insightful pers.....hahahahahahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  153. Poor, sweet Ziggler's cash-in, getting reactions like Hogan for the night. Big E and AJ thrilled for their pal, AJ tearing up a little. Could've been there, but nooooo...the blahness that was WM29 and not being sure if SmarkMania was going to be an annual thing combined to make me pass it up. Great choice, me.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Adam "Colorado" CurryJune 14, 2015 at 5:25 PM

I beat ti for about the hundredth time a couple nights ago

    ReplyDelete
  155. I'd argue against HHH at NWO01 is his second best match.

    ReplyDelete
  156. It's sad we'll never get to relive the May 2001 super TV week with all the crazy Benoit matches.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I've got it as Bret, Foley, Rock, Angle and than everything else behind it. The spectacle is more important when you're the head of a golden age. Everything else falls in line behind that.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Why are their WWEshop commercials better than anything else they do?

    ReplyDelete
  159. Shit, there's another contender.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Kevin Nash on the Kimmel per game show.

    ReplyDelete
  161. That... is the shittiest song I've ever heard WWE use.

    ReplyDelete
  162. She should start adding "wubba wubba wubba" to her interviews. That's in Vince's frame of reference, I would have to think...

    ReplyDelete
  163. They've gone from Sting/Luger to Shawn/Diesel

    ReplyDelete
  170. What happened

    ReplyDelete
  171. It's amazing how perfectly they've created this Reigns/Ambrose dynamic.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I'm shocked. SHOCKED to find that you like them.

    ReplyDelete
  173. The "Get Busy" thing they used during the WWE Shop promo? I liked it, and no, Devin, it didn't sound like disco.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I dunno but it was terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  175. I'm holding out hope that tonight is Rollins' Rumble 2000 breakout performance.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Punk came back.
