  1. In Hell on Earth news, it's 34 degrees C here right now. I'm fucking dying.

  2. What temperature is that in 'Murican?

Shit like Ambrose losing to Kane is a huge reason why Raw continues to shed audience. They've taken a guy like Ambrose and made it clear to fans that he's not a big deal.
It's what they've done to almost everyone on their roster. Everyone's a goon, nobody's a big deal worth investing in.

And so of course more and more people just decide not to bother watching.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Guys... I'm being blackmailed... and if I don't comply with my tormentors demands a TERRIBLE SECRET I have been keeping will be exposed! Help me please :-(

    ReplyDelete
  5. fuck no you've been horrible to me at times

    ReplyDelete
  6. You can only watch the same story so many times before you stop caring.

    ReplyDelete
  7. But this could RUIN ME

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yikes. Raw numbers.

As for Ambrose. I'd be critical too, but I honestly don't even remember the match let alone the show. So I guess that's a win for WWE?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Dude, it was 106 here yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Tell me your secret and I'll see if it's worth helping with

    ReplyDelete
  11. Summerslam is the PPV I look forward to the most every year. It has a good track record of being a great show.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Beat them to the punch and release the secret. It's the "shooting the hostage" of blackmail defeat.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I've found, that living in a place where most people are from elsewhere, when you ever mention the extreme temperature someone will say "You think that is hot/cold? Its nothing compared to where I am from!"

I expect you'll get some of that here.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Do they even post the actual rating any more? Seems all sites only post the number of viewers and the demographic rating.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Here in UK land we don't like warm weather and this is too warm for us. 106 would be death.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I... I can't... he said I don't dare expose him!

    ReplyDelete
  17. RAting takes a day or two to come out. Meltzer said this was about a 2.5

Heavens to murgatroid! How will you ever survive?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't know. I have a family I have to think about!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wow - for all the talk about how 1 guy doesnt move ratings anymore & it's the WWE #brand - the Brock return got 4+ million 2 weeks ago and this show was about 700,000 less than that. And remember it was over 5 million the night after WrestleMania when Brock killed Michael Cole.

It looks stupider by the second that they made Brock go away. Whatever his deal was, they should have burned up the dates in April & May when he was nuclear. By having him gone for 2 months, it basically exposed everyone not named Kevin Owens as a mid-carder.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Will there be criticism for having Ambrose job clean to Bray Wyatt on Smackdown this week too?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Go into hiding, change your name to Peter Wheaton, and pray for forgiveness.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And of course the response to the Ambrose news item is found in spoilers for this week's Smackdown. They're so hot and cold on him, I just don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. In Iowa we have English weather today. Foggy with a chill in the morning before it burns off later.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:02 AM

It's a shame that we as Americans are trained to NEVER negotiate with terrorists. Hostage-takers? Sure. We negotiate then, right before we SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE!

    Blackmail? It's a grey area.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thaddeus MountainJuly 1, 2015 at 9:02 AM

Pretty smart of New Orleans to sign Anthony Davis to a five-year deal.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You are correct, sir.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:02 AM

    SPOILERS!

    ReplyDelete
  29. They've made everyone, except for Owens, look like a goon at some point since WrestleMania. It's been the strangest booking - like everyone is on a treadmill to nowhere, so nothing changes and no one gets over.

    ReplyDelete
  30. They ALWAYS negotiate with terrorists, they just loudly shout how they're not doing that while they very quietly do just that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. BUH GAWD! A FAMILY TO THINK ABOUT!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Having ANYBODY lose to Kane at this point is completely stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  33. So glad the Update's up. I was really running out of anything to say about WWF 1991.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Joey Jo-Jo Junior ShabbadooJuly 1, 2015 at 9:05 AM

And Ambrose is someone they're supposed high on! Which makes it even more perplexing/ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well I guess that is all the mileage I am getting out of that joke.

This is a PM I got on NPP this morning... does this count as cyber bullying?

7:20 a.m. fire alarm in the building on my sleep in day...life sucks

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ahh I see. Is Matt okay? :(

    ReplyDelete
  39. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:05 AM

Damn it! I was going to make some subtle references.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It exposes that if you put on a show that makes no sense and has had the same plot for 2 years, which was cribbed from a plot which has been used on and off for 20 at this point, people may not give a crap. Brock going away was dumb, and I absolutely think he should have been around for 3 weeks getting frustrated, then FINALLY going nuts and killing everyone to be suspended (If you had to do that)

But ultimately, that all takes what. ten minutes per week? 15? out of 3 hours. If the rest of the show is garbage,..

    ReplyDelete
  41. Edited, I figured nobody here cared

    ReplyDelete
  42. Extremely smart. I'm kinda surprised he stayed. That team is a bit of a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Its no fun if we don't get to mock him openly.

    ReplyDelete
  44. So I guess next Monday's show will have a hotshotted title change or a shitload of The Authority to try to make up for this week's ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:06 AM

THAT's your response? Perri sends 'llax a threatening douchy email and you want to know if that dude is OK? Priorities, tater.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Joey Jo-Jo Junior ShabbadooJuly 1, 2015 at 9:06 AM

    I am SHOCKED AND DISILLUSIONED.

    ReplyDelete
  47. When I was in college, at least once per semester, someone would think it was the funniest thing in the world to pull the fire alarm at 3:00 am. The shitty part was that the building had 2500 people living in it, so it would take the fire dept an hour to clear it before we could go back in.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Marvgaret HoulihanJuly 1, 2015 at 9:07 AM

I like that dude but he's losing it, it's so easy to ignore that site who gives a shit what happens there

    ReplyDelete
  49. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:07 AM

I don't. I already read them, some people do get butt hurt about it, though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. This will RIP THE VERY FABRIC OF THE BoD!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh yeah - Brock's absence isn't the only problem. I think it's very telling that almost a million people tuned in for that return show & within 2 weeks, were already gone again, which speaks to your point about the overall Raw show being dogcrap lately.

    ReplyDelete
  52. People didn't know you're on NPP.

Although this would have been REALLY awkward if it was some other guy named Parallax.

    ReplyDelete
  53. My assumption was that Parallax's lack of basic humanity makes him immune to threats

    ReplyDelete
  54. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:08 AM

He seems a bit on edge lately.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Perri seems to struggle with the concept that everyone can see stuff on the internet... he got mad that people saw the thing he posted on his blog also... i guess I can see why he'd assume no one would see it there though.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I like his reviews. Too bad he's apparently being a cunt.

    ReplyDelete
  57. More on Edge than Lita in 2006

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  59. I loved when people would do it in the winter. Having to stand outside in just your undies in freezing temperatures isn't fun

    ReplyDelete
  60. "You guys know I can see through my windows, right?" One of my favouritest Dennis lines.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Either Edge is some genetic freak (NOT the Scott Steiner kind), or Beth Phoenix is forever tainted.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Man you are a sensitive guy. Let me illustrate a point...

Extant... you are an utter failure in life and I regularly fuck your wife, including right now...

    ReplyDelete
  63. I 'won' the last time. My parents gave me my first car as a graduation present, and I had it down at school the last few weeks to start moving stuff. My roommate and I got to sleep in my car, toasty warm and with music.

    ReplyDelete
  64. On a one to ten scale, how betrayed will he feel when he realizes Bayless is there too?

    24?

    ReplyDelete
  65. I caught Tough Enough last night, not as bad an episode as last week's, but still terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Not as bad as my day... MY SECRET IS OUT!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. That's one of the very few things I love about India. They absolutely do not negotiate with terrorists and kill them on sight.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Overly sensitive is just a character I play! I find you highly commendable.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:11 AM

FANTASTIC! Hope you're enoying it! I'll be off in my own little corner, making fun of Tater.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  81. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:14 AM

My favorite part of Perri's threat to 'llax was when he aid 'llax was nice to him here on the BoD. When has that EVER happened?

    ReplyDelete
  82. At my college, they'd pull it 3 and 4 times a night on the weekends. It was some weird tradition in my building. They went out of their way to lock up the things to trigger an alarm and people would do stuff like spray talcam powder at the smoke detectors.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Does anyone refer to us as the Blog of Doomiverse? I feel like someone should....

    ReplyDelete

No kidding! I was hoping you'd help her along with that.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I brought this up last night in the live thread, it is insane to market your company towards kids and expect those kids to stay up late and watch 3 hours every Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Because Dukes of Hazard shows the Confederate Flag, TV Land has said that they will not be airing the show for the indefinite future. They used to air 2x a day in the afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 1, 2015 at 9:16 AM

I always preferred DoomBots. Don't know how or why Blog Otters got more fucking traction than that.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yeah I don't see how any 8-10 year old watches it to the end especially when it's three+ hours

    ReplyDelete
  90. It didn't, fuckin' Meekin just wouldn't let it die.

    ReplyDelete

That's not a good character trait for a writer, particularly one that wants to write here.

Nobody had read his reviews in weeks except that creepy AKAASH fellow.

Dukes of Hazard merchandise featuring the General Lee is also being pulled from stores.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Joey Jo-Jo Junior ShabbadooJuly 1, 2015 at 9:17 AM

As someone who loved The Dukes Of Hazard as a kid and never thought twice about the flag or what it represented, I find this a bit much.

    ReplyDelete
  96. this f'n country is full of pussies.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I didn't even know that site existed.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Compare today to when the last time WWE was PG in the early 90s and they had weekend morning shows where major shit happened.

WWE's setup today makes zero sense.

    ReplyDelete
  99. One time, I was working in the computer lab in my dorm hall. There was an actual fire. All of us on the computers heard the fire alarm go off, but no one budged. When a fireman told us to get out and that there was an actual fire, we all went ok and saved our papers and then walked out..

    ReplyDelete
  100. Oliver is great

    ReplyDelete
  101. I didn't say Molly Holly.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I have been thinking about that... I think I forget who he is sometimes since he changed his screen name.

    ReplyDelete
  103. he was already on the road w them since January though, and they want to use him for tentpole events like Summerslam and Mania seasons, it isn't realistic.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Nothing adds up to anything, and nothing builds on anything else. It's a random smattering of ideas housed under one roof, both in business and creatively.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Watch Superstars and Wrestling Challenge on the weekends was just enough and those aired on saturday/sunday mornings.

    ReplyDelete
  106. People forget, Raw wasn't the A show until like 1996.

    ReplyDelete
  107. And I just bought the whole series on Amazon. Along with Seasons 4-5 of the A-Team, to finish that show.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I do, too. The General Lee is not the problem. State governments flying the flag is the problem. Dukes of Hazzard was a harmless show about cars racing around.

I'm really not sure how the protesting of state governments flying the flag has become so big, but I haven't been paying attention.

    ReplyDelete
  109. No kidding. If I ever wrote for the Blog, I would just be completely up front in admitting that I give zero fucks about feedback.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I've never seen Parallax1978 be nice. Not ever. He must be thinking of another Parallax, perhaps 1979.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yeah but it really REALLY bothers him if someone doesn't like him or something he does.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I'm dumb. What is NPP?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Marvgaret HoulihanJuly 1, 2015 at 9:23 AM

I was thinking about this last night after you said this and really almost all of my memories are of Gorilla and Bobby sitting at the desk on Prime Time, I don't think I ever watched the Saturday show because there was always something better on (like cartoons)

    ReplyDelete
  114. That seems a bit much, but as contentious as that flag is at present it's unlikely that any company will want to be seen as supporting it in any way.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Sounds like Chris Regal from TNA Mecca

    ReplyDelete
  116. Because some people have problems with staying on message. It's what eventually turns me against some protests... they might have a good initial goal, then it turns into an all-consuming monster that cares not what it hurts.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I have said on several occasions I would like to try Canadian delicacy poutine!

    ReplyDelete

Just one day away from my two day Canerica Day celebration. Maple syrup hot dogs all around!

    ReplyDelete
  121. I would say he should have gotten the Daily Show, except his current show is just killing it.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Damn. Beats all you ever saw.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Excluding Kevin Owens' debut, was there anything really amazing since Wrestlemania where a fan would have gone "Dang it I wish had seen that?"
The other thing is that if you missed the last 3 months of programming, there is no storyline (excluding Owens) where a quick 10 second explanation wouldn't catch you up to speed.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I really don't understand how Raw can be so bad. There are successful TV shows out there to copy and the WWE has been very successful before, so they can copy themselves. Bray Wyatt strikes me as a guy that's everything wrong with the booking. He started off as a big deal, became a job boy to Cena, and has been directionless ever since. Why would anyone ever buy into him?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Marvgaret HoulihanJuly 1, 2015 at 9:25 AM

See, I can understand the state flag issue even if it feels like another example of people wanting a symbolic gesture in lieu of actual change. But censoring a comedy-action show from the 1970's isn't going to solve anything or lead to anything constructive.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Stranger In The AlpsJuly 1, 2015 at 9:26 AM

Except Vince is totally out of touch with modern pop culture and no one in the company has the balls to say so.

    ReplyDelete
  134. SummerSlam is not a tentpole event anymore.

5+ million people watched Raw after WrestleMania. Now, 2 million of those fans are gone. You can't lose 40% of an audience. They aren't going to magically re-appear in August.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Looks like HHH and Steph are an Authority on good ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Hate to break it to you: that's not me. I've been getting phishing attempts since yesterday and, late last night, "Dougie Muller" e-mailed me and told me he was "posing as me" to "troll NPP". And just now, "cabspaintedyellow" apparently e-mailed me but it wasn't really from him.

Someone at NPP is extremely bored.

    ReplyDelete
  137. So how do Canadians celebrate Canada Day?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Slip some dulse into the cole slaw.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Just one REALLY long thread. 450+ pages, IIRC.

I'd go look it up, but that site is as large a "no-go" zone as TNAMecca. The difference is TNAMecca was an entertaining drop-in, this would be a sad peek.

    ReplyDelete
  140. That's cute.

    ReplyDelete
  141. It's the double-edged sword of everything going through one person. When that person is at their peak, you get great television, angles, etc. But when that same person gets old, out of touch, and still insists on ruling with an iron fist, you get what we have now.

And let's face it - Vince has often produced a shitty product when he's allowed to coast with no one threatening his company's existence.

    ReplyDelete
  142. For me it was more the cringe factor, but yeah, the Otter think was fucking annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I've celebrated exactly one on Canadian soil, but the answer is beer.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I think I mentioned my theory at some time before.

They have a lot of soap opera writers, who are used to writing for the "villain of the month". Somebody comes in, does really bad things, the heroes prevail.

The problem is, once they're done with the VotM in Soap-Opera Land, the villain goes away. They don't need to worry about making that villain interesting after the fact.

So here we are, stuck with a bunch of VotMs, and nothing to do with them once they've been vanquished by the heroes because the writers have no clue how to write for persistent characters (except for the handful they deem "stars")

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  147. I prefer making fun of BoD posters on BoD forums.

If you pause for a moment and think about this it makes tremendous sense, remember the spammer upset last week that no one cared you were saying things on NPP?

It's the Redskins issue all over again. You know what most Native Americans probably want. Access to decent housing, medicine, food, education, economic opportunities, etc. They could care less about a football team name because they have far bigger problems to deal with, and yet some people feel that changing the name will somehow solve all the issues and make up for decades of mistreatment. It won't, and lowering the flag won't solve any real problems, either.

  153. I already know you're a member of NPP and I really don't care. I've never cared. I don't even have a membership at NPP.

  155. I started watching in late 92/93. I would try to catch Raw as much as I could but I never missed the weekend shows like Superstars, Mania, Action Zone, All-American Wrestling.

  156. Both make perfect sense. Since I have no evidence that it was the clone I have to go with what I have seen.

  157. The VotM formula worked back when workers could bounce around the various territories, but in fairness this writing crew would have probably caused a locker room revolt back then with their shit product.

  158. Yet felt the need to write a few paragraphs addressing them. Makes perfect sense.

He was spamming last nights thread with a log of every post about me there, I just hit refresh and they'd disappear.

So clearly *someone* was bored as fuck last night.

  160. We get a stupid Wednesday off this year. Wednesday.

  161. It's overexposure of the product. You can't write 7 hours of television a week without it getting watered down.

    ReplyDelete
  162. And often, the villain will return in soap operas, but not for some time. Kinda like the old territory days. Now, they're hanging around week after week.

    ReplyDelete
  163. The idiot last night spamming all mentions of you in the threads part of it too probably.

  165. What an odd question.

Beer, BBQ and fireworks for the most part. Often times at cottages, but that's not mandatory.

  166. It's like 10 years ago when some feminists tried getting Augusta National (where the Masters is played) to not be a men's-only club. No one cared.

They did finally let in a couple women a couple years ago: Condi Rice and CEO of IBM

  167. We did get a lovely epic meltdown, though, so I guess it was worth the annoyance.

    Oh, and beer.

That would've been about when I phased out, so maybe the Saturday shows were a bigger deal then? I mean...I guess they could have always been the bigger deal but I just always caught the B Show.

  170. I want to see this thread, what is the thread title?

    ReplyDelete
  171. Sigh.

Another, stupid meta day at BoD.

    ReplyDelete
  172. It would be easier if they weren't using the same wrestlers on both Raw and Smackdown.

    ReplyDelete
  173. You know, I honestly don't think Vince has ever been in touch with pop culture. WWE has been successful when he's made it pop culture. He's very much in his own world, and there are good and bad things that come with that.

    ReplyDelete
  174. That's a good point, but when they bring the VotM back, they have something for him to do. He isn't hanging around outside the 7-11 bugging the clerk.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Do they also take turns chopping each other in the chest?

    ReplyDelete
  176. Can't you be both?

    ReplyDelete
  177. Brock destroying everything on the post-Wrestlemania Raw...and that's about it.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Dammit, Jose Aldo is out of his fight with McGregor. Chad Mendes gets the shot instead of Edgar, and it's for an interim title.

  179. Except for making people side with the show that has the Confederate Flag in it.

    ReplyDelete
  180. You traitorist.

    ReplyDelete
  181. You are exactly right. I haven't watched very much since mania, and Owens def was the only thing I truly felt like I missed. For dozens of hours of programming, that's not a great ratio.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Someone want to explain to me how Impact tonight is a more loaded and better built show than Slammiversary?

    ReplyDelete
  183. It was taped first?

  184. 150 m's is hard to pass up.

  185. Just one in a long line of bad business decision?

    ReplyDelete
  186. Wasn't it Shane and Russo that had to drag Vince kicking and screaming into the adult-oriented Attitude era?

    ReplyDelete
  187. It was but why even bother with Slammiversary then.

  188. Marvgaret HoulihanJuly 1, 2015 at 9:40 AM

End of the taping cycle so they're probably more drunk?

    ReplyDelete
  189. Dragic, Leonard and lopez all staying put.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I think ANYTHING pop-culture related is dependent on Vince listening to someone else at the time.
