  4. And for those of you not from this country, it's Saturday. Do those things anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Did the majority of blowing shit up last night when my 4-year-old nephew was over. I thought I loved fireworks, but it's amazing to watch a kid watching them and freaking out.

Makes the drive to Wisconsin to get them totally worth it.

    Happy 'Murica day!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Why is Cult afraid to go outside?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Which adjoining state do you live in?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think he sees how things really are, like Roddy Piper in They Live.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Iowa. Fortunately, only about 70 minutes from Dubuque, where we can just slip over and hit the first tent.

    ReplyDelete
  10. More lazy than scared tbh

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hmph. At least Piper went out and did something about it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm too poor to drop $50 on mortars in South Carolina, so it's the county seat and the municipal fireworks tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  13. July 4th, 1987. The Omni in Atlanta. The first Wargames match. I still get chills from the build and the execution to this match that still remains my favorite to this day. I can't find a complete version of this anywhere and youtube only seems to have the Orange Bowl version which isn't as good.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The announcer saying, "let the WarGames... BEGIN!" is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Holy shit dude, me and my little brother were literally jumping out of our seats.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tom Miller was an awesome and underrated ring announcer. He totally got it. "FROM THE VOLUNTEER STATE OF TENNESSEE...RICKY AND ROBERT...THE ROCK...AND ROLL....EXPRESS!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  17. The VHS intro to the '87 Bash is WHOMP-ASS and awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agreed 1000%

    ReplyDelete
  19. It was badass but the VHS release completely butchered the match which sucks. How do you leave out the fucking entrances??

    ReplyDelete
  20. The cover of the case is awesome. As a kid, it completely stood out

    ReplyDelete
  21. Magnum...T! A!

There are about a dozen awesome things about this video featuring the Road Warriors vs. Manny Fernandez and Rick Rude for the NWA World Tag Team Titles on an episode of Southern Pro Wrestling from Florida. But the thing that stands out is that Hawk is carrying a fucking MACE. I don't ever remember seeing that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yard work on the Fourth? Das Communist.

    ReplyDelete
  25. On DailyMotion, try "The Super Powers vs. The Four Horsemen, NWA Great American Bash," "WCW The Great American Bash 1987 War Games," and "WCW Live Events 1987 - War Games"

    ReplyDelete
  26. The VASTLY popular, Magnum... T! A!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Super Power vs. Horsemen on DailyMotion seems to have the version with the entrances. I must have gotten a butchered copy. But the SuperPowers/LOD entrance music is totally lame 80's synthesizer crap way below par on what JCP usually uses. They must have overdubbed "Iron Man." I would love to get my hands on the raw unedited version. Also, Jim Ross is mixed too far in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Bout to head to a family cookout. Had my parents pick me up so I can have a few drinks.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Didn't watch Beast in the East yet. Desperately trying to avoid spoilers.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I had a red, white, and blueberry ice cream cone at the Old Town 4th of July festival: vanilla ice cream, homemade strawberry and blueberry swirl, and white chocolate chips because I am a fucking real American.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Same here. I'm waiting until after work tonight to catch that.

    ReplyDelete
  32. C'mon dude. You're a wrestling fan...you know you live in your parents basement.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The new EC3 chapter on the LOLTNA Taimapedia page is great stuff and totally spot on.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Communism apparently rules WWE judging by how Zeb and Jack mysteriously disappeared.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Saw Sammy Hagar and his new band The Circle last night at Naperville, IL Ribfest. Dude is gonna be 68 in October and still brings it. Kicked my ass. There must have been 25-30 thousand people there. Amazing show.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I would have loved just to be there, and once again, it appears to be a pretty full house at the Omni, which makes Crockett's decision to move Starrcade even dumber

    ReplyDelete
  37. My friend has been talking about that band a lot. I haven't heard their stuff yet.

    ReplyDelete
  38. HowmuchdoesthisguyweighJuly 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM

Jericho vs Neville was really good. Love me some Jericho. Nice finish. LION TAMER!

    ReplyDelete
  39. 13,500 according to The History of WWE dot com which was more than double the attendance of the previous few shows there.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I Can't Drive 55 has a new meaning.

    ReplyDelete
  41. They didn't play any new songs and nothing from Chickenfoot either. They do a few Zeppelin covers since Jason Bonham is the drummer. They busted out "Rock Candy" from Montrose which was cool.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, I see.

    A REAL Communist!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 4, 2015 at 12:58 PM

What if we have to be at work with not a lot to do? Are we allowed to be here?

    ReplyDelete
  44. In Soviet Russia...grass cuts YOU.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well we do have socialized healthcare..

    ReplyDelete
  46. Now I'm reading that he only did Greensboro so it must have been someone else at the Omni.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Miller was known as "the voice of Greensboro" or something to that effect

    ReplyDelete
  48. Leaving 13,000+ fans (plus 16,000 in Greensboro) for 8000 in Chicago still makes me shake my head

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sure, but you've gotta buy everyone tacos.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Virgil's Gimmick TableJuly 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM

Get the Wargames Blu-ray. It's on there.

    ReplyDelete
  51. SPOILER: AWESOME

    ReplyDelete
  52. Happy 4th of July to everyone! It's a good thing Will Smith saved all of us or we'd be in trouble

    ReplyDelete
  53. Wait... if you are desperately trying to avoid spoilers, why would you come to a wrestling related blog, especially a section that is basically an open forum to discuss any/everything?

    ReplyDelete
  54. It will probably get on the Network eventually too but it won't have all the matches.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Didn't 4th of July used to be some sort of cursed, wrestling death day?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I know they did the Beast in the East thing, but I wish they would do real PPVs on holidays. Especially in the summer, which is such a dead time for sport-sy entertainment.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Because I'm an idiot. And everybody is being really good about it so it doesn't matter. I haven't scrolled far down thread anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Bring back The Great American Bash for the 4th of July

    ReplyDelete
  59. Just wondering. Of course this comes after listening to Lance bitch to Bryan Alverez about people getting annoyed by spoilers, but perfectly willing to log onto the internet, check their Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I kind of like that he is such a "get off my grass" old man.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'm Canadian and living in Canada, but I am most certainly getting drunk as I speak.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It's incredible to think that the NWA held the Bash on July 4th, WCCW had Christmas Star Wars, and Starrcade and Survivor Series were both on Thanksgiving (the same year once).

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm brand new to UFC, but I'm totally sold on McGregor after watching his incredible public statements. I am going to watch the McGregor a

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm an American living in America, and that is how I celebrated Canada Day.

    ReplyDelete
  64. But we could crush you with our military might.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Make it an outdoor stadium show while were at it and put Wargames on there as a tribute to Dusty.

    ReplyDelete
  66. What we lack in funding for public schools/universities, we make up for in firework sales.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Going to read it now. I wish that site was a book with an index.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh it's completely and totally my fault if I see something so you won't hear any bitching from me. I'm doing pretty good so far though. I'll probably just go play MAME arcade games until it's time to fire up the grill and watch the neighborhood destroy itself. Then me and my wife will watch it later after the conflagration dies down.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Jefferson and Adams fought to a no contest when they both dropped dead on 7/4

    ReplyDelete
  70. I thought this was interesting:

Figures came in late, but the total revenue of Starrcade '87, combining the live gate, closed circuit and PPV, was $1.3 million. Roughly $820,000 came from 40 closed circuit theatres, $180,000 came from the sellout at the UIC Pavillion, and another $300,000 came from the estimated 20,000 PPV buys, which at the time was around a 7.0 buyrate. Crockett didn't lose money on the show, but the profit was way down from the previous two years. Meltzer said financially, Starrcade was not a flop by any means.

    Source: Bigelow's Proboard

Keep that bad boy in Greensboro & Atlanta, and they have an extra 22,000 paying fans

    ReplyDelete
  71. Probably with more gunfire, though.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Spoiler...Finn Balor was there making his return to Japan. Then he reformed Bullet Club and drank AJ Styles's blood. It was kinda dark...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Put it in Charlotte for the 30th anniversary of the first Bash

    ReplyDelete
  74. I dunno what his deal is but when healthy, the guy is fucking lethal.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Adrian Adonis and Joey Marella both died on the 4th, although in car accidents.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Finn Balor, Cesaro and Neville celebrating in the back was such a vicious cocktease.

    Well played, WWE.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Holy shit, they are hard on EC3. I heard a lot of really good things about him but can't say I've paid enough attention to substantiate them myself.

    ReplyDelete
  78. They both killed themselves to avoid doing jobs to a young, up and coming Abe Lincoln.

    ReplyDelete
  79. The PPV revenue from not getting cut from almost all the cable systems that were going to run it if it wasn't for Survivor Series would have far exceeded any attendance gain by keeping it in Atlanta or Greensboro. We've been over this before.

    ReplyDelete
  80. It is quite telling that he can't even get a crowd reaction from the same Impact Zone freeloaders that went nuts for Jim Neidhart.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Tonights random movie I've never actually seen before.

Sweeny Todd, the Johnny Depp musical.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I just want to watch matches today that feature British wrestlers losing.

    ReplyDelete
  83. https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=r8rUzlAaB7A

There is also one very bad thing. See if you can guess what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Losing that many paying fans is nothing to sneeze at. It's too bad Vince was so petty

    ReplyDelete
  85. As soon as I saw Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall together I immediately thought of Snape & Wormtail and it only took a second later to confirm that they were still evil.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Got some hot dogs, sausages and burgers with bits of bacon and jalapenos on the grill. Just waiting for the missus to bring the beer and rum

    ReplyDelete
  87. They did do a good job killing Greensboro and Atlanta never really rebounded after they moved Starrcade.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Can't go wrong with Haggar

    ReplyDelete
  89. Look up "1987 NWA World Tag Team Championship" on YouTube:

    ReplyDelete
  90. Smith gets all the credit, Randy Quaid was the hero.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I swear TNA must have about 15 wrestlers left on their roster.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Lol at Cult being scared to go outside

Also, anyone else keep thinking the show should have been tagged IN YOUR HOUSE?

    ReplyDelete
  93. I had no business lasting that long against Brock.

Should have been KICK WHAM F5, that's it

    ReplyDelete
  94. Then you somehow multiplied into 3 people and still got your ass kicked.

    ReplyDelete
  95. YAAAAARD BIRD

    ReplyDelete
  96. I dunno. A dropkick-based offensive usually pans out...

    ReplyDelete
  97. Power of Positivity, baby

    ReplyDelete
  98. Link that shit!

Wait didn't Scott kill links in the blog??

    ReplyDelete
  99. Cult's afraid to go outside?

    ReplyDelete
  100. First Scott came for Triple S, and I said nothing because he sucked.

Then Scott came for links on the blog, and I said nothing because Macklin was getting out of hand with meme links anyway.

BUT WHO WILL SCOTT COME FOR NEXT

    ReplyDelete
  101. Corona with a lemon was a good discovery.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Always worked for me in the early SD games!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Forgot about the Tokyo special and went to a news website that of course had a picture of the result of the big Balor/Owens match. Goddamn it all to Hell, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Y'all need to check out the Bulldog/Owen 95 KOTR qualifying match. It's ****1/2.

    ReplyDelete
  105. HHH actually spoiled the ending to that match on twitter. I was so pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  106. We had a back and forth a few days ago debating the merits of going outside.

I'm fer it, he's agin' it.

    ReplyDelete
  107. You think they would've thought ahead on shit like that on people watching it later owing to the time difference/people like me blanking on it. Give it a day at least.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I mean HHH spoiled it while it was still airing live.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Oh really, fuck, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Can you imagine if Matt Striker was calling the Revolutionary War?

"The colonies are still part of the Empire!!!

    ...FREE!!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  111. I don't like going outside that much either. Allergies.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Since when do you care about spoilers?

And why didn't you watch it live? Watching on tape delay is lame, remember?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Already watched War Games 1 and 2 from Bash '87. Gonna watch GAB '89 later. Love that show.

    ReplyDelete
  114. What do you mean, "you allergies"?!

  121. "Van halen, not van hagar" -Joe Dirt

    ReplyDelete
  122. Oh man, Shelton's getting banned any second now :/

    ReplyDelete
  123. "All American Boys" played allllll damn day, baby.

From Montreal to Memphis, parlez vous Francais?

    ReplyDelete
  124. I did watch it live.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 4, 2015 at 2:21 PM

Is that available for download on iTunes?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Sadly I don't think so.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 4, 2015 at 2:24 PM

    Money. Table.

    ReplyDelete
  128. This is to celebrate Bill Pullmans victory over the Aliens isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hannibal Burress favorited one of my tweets. WE FAMOUS NAO.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Around 5PM EST i am planning on watching "Beast in the East" Any one wanna join me?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Went kayaking this morning and I feel like I was in the ring with the Steiner brothers

    ReplyDelete
  132. I'd be up for a set live watch, sure.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Extant1979 - Extreme SuperstarJuly 4, 2015 at 2:28 PM

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little upset I didn't get to see the classic Cesaro-Diego match during the show.

    ReplyDelete
  134. But Bram has resigned a multi-year deal!!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Of course America's Team won on America's birthday! God Bless America! God Bless the Yankees!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Fuck that, Goldblum was the one who developed the virus.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I'd re-watch, but I'm firing up the grill around 5:45 PM, and that's family time with my brother. But you guys have a blast with that, it's pretty fucking awesome most of the way through.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Black people don't kayak! What the fuck is wring with you?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Forgot about Beast from the East show, firing that up as we speak.

    ReplyDelete

  144. Hey, I respect your right to choose. I heard pregnancy weight is hard to lose and birthing a baby blows out a vagina, too.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I bet Brock is super popular in Japan. They have a bigger hard-on for monster-type guys over there than Vince does.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Thaddeus MountainJuly 4, 2015 at 2:36 PM

Beast in the East time, motherfuckers!

    Just fired it up myself!

    ReplyDelete
  149. I was kinda wondering why I was the only black guy.....in the entire town. After we finished they were saying there was a good bbq restaurant around the corner, but I was like ehhhhhh I think I'll pass

    ReplyDelete
  150. Currently airing in my living room.

    ReplyDelete
  151. ThebrazilianpsychoJuly 4, 2015 at 2:38 PM

    Vader, Hansen.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Y2J over as fuck in Japan.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Okay, so we're starting the special now...?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Floyd may have to give up the WBO title he won from Manny because he hasn't paid the $200k sanctioning fee and a boxer cannot have belts in different weight classes.
This is why I truly am not into boxing. You strip a guy for 2 stupid reasons. Not because he lost or retired but because of 2 reasons that have nothing to do with a guy beating him in the ring.

    ReplyDelete
  155. ThebrazilianpsychoJuly 4, 2015 at 2:38 PM

Unfortunately, Godzilla was sick. Brock was supposed to enter on top of his head.
