Samoa Joe & Cesaro

Short & sweet - Can you explain why there hasn't been any set-up of a Samoa Joe vs Cesaro match anywhere? Did I miss anything on this? Joe injured Cesaro's partner, Cesaro comes for revenge, they fight. Isn't this booking 101? You know that the matches will at the least be solid, and can be spread across Raw, an NXT special and then even PPV. Again, did I miss something or does Joe have to learn where the hard camera is?

It's not like a lot of people know that Kidd was hurt against Joe, and playing him up as a babyface who breaks necks isn't exactly a PG-friendly character for him to have.  That being said, they should do Joe v. Cesaro because it would rule in general.

  1. Given that Joe is a super over face, I'm pretty sure they aren't planning to call him up with the gimmick of "sloppy asshole who injures people."

Vince, the writers, Stephanie, et al just don't see it in Cesaro, let's face it. I love Cesaro as much as the next guy, and he's one of my favorites, but I'm not holding out for any booking plans for him.

  3. I feel like Cesaro got signed, like, two years too early.

  4. They don't have to play it up like he injured him on purpose. Joe could be apologetic, like "bad things happen in the ring, it's a fact of life sometimes" and Cesaro could be all like "bad things are gonna happen TO YOU." Then you could have Cesaro going out of his way to break peoples' necks while Joe's not.

I gotta say though, they should just let Joe do the safe choke sleeper/body scissors as his finish.

  5. I think they probably will, eventually. At some point, Joe's gonna run out of guys he can fold like a taco on his shoulders.

  6. Agreed he could of been part of the NXT super indy squad.

  7. Joe vs Cesaro is one of those things you don't need a reason for them to fight.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Cesaro: "Hey, you! Let's fight."
    Joe: "Them's fightin' words."

  9. It worked for Ahmed Johnson.

  10. They really should have paired him up with Kassius Ono in NXT and let the two of them be the Kings of Wrestling if they had no better plan for him.

  11. For lack of a general thread on which to discuss it, a few thoughts on Beast In The East:

I really liked the set up. Not just the basic aisleway and absence of titantron, but the ring being angled diagonally was very cool. Commentary was notably strong throughout, particularly in the NXT title match, and it's all too obvious that Vince's input to WWE's broadcasts are dragging down talent in all areas.

The opener was fun and I wouldn't be adverse to a return match at Battleground - ****ish. Lesnar/Kofi was what it was, although the suplexes were nasty and seemed totally uncontrolled and unsafe. Owens/Balor was full of the Little Things that remind me why I like wrestling (e.g. Owens' Mr. Perfect snapmare fakeout into a chinlock and Balor hitting the Bloody Sunday) and I thoroughly enjoyed everything from the video to the post-match - ****1/2

Skipped everything else, but the unique look and atmosphere was such a pleasant change of pace. I hope it becomes an annual show.

  12. There's no guarantee that Chris Hero wouldn't have gotten fat anyway, though.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't understand why people keep insisting Hero was fat during NXT. I saw him in person when we debuted for DGUSA and he was in the best shape of his life.

Besides, the value of Hero to Ceasaro is Hero has all the charisma.

If Cesaro is going to put Joe in the giant swing, I'd recommend Joe getting some new shorts.

They seem like the type to just see each other at the catering table and start brawling.

He's a guy that is a perfect fit in NXT.

  17. Yeah I was surprised that Jericho went over Neville. But Neville getting his win at Battleground would be great!

  18. They wrestled in ROH when they did the whole ROH/CZW deal. I couldn't find any online video though.

  19. This pretty much exactly echoed my thoughts on it almost word for word.

  20. REVIEW THE TOKYO SHOW, SCOTT.

  21. Johnson injured himself more than anyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Pretty sure you mean HBK/Perfect, because Bret/perfect was all sorts of awesome. . .

    ReplyDelete
  23. The Brock match was okay, but if they were trying to make Kofi Kingston look like a monster, they totally failed.

Not sure when you saw him or where, but dude was ballooning in NXT.

  25. Yep. I did mean that. I got distracted by that hot chick sucking on a banana again.

  26. Wait, is that how you apologize? You're doing it wrong! :P

  29. Same here...watched Neville/Jericho and Balor/Owens and that was $9.99 well spent for July

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just rewatched Owens-Balor, and confirmed my opinion that it deserves the full monty. Just amazing stuff all around.

Hero seemed to got to pot once he was in an environment that tested regularly, so there's that. But with Ryback running around looking the way he does, Wellness clearly isn't universal, anyhow.

  32. "Why hasn't WWE booked Samoa Joe Vs Cesaro" is down near the bottom of my questions pertaining to WWE booking

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, they don't mind with Kevin Owens or Samoa Joe.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I can tell this emailer is a smart mark because he used "hard camera" in his email.

    ReplyDelete
  35. God what a smug, condescending prick this emailer is. Just dripping with the worst kind of smark attitude. Joe JUST SIGNED and he is whining and complaining he isn't immediately in a meaningful feud on the main roster? Who are these people?

    ReplyDelete
  36. YOU'LL GET ZIGGLER AND LANA AND CENA OVER OWENS AND LIKE IT, PAL

  37. Oh come on. It wasnt THAT bad. I know it's always hip to hate the emailer. But everyday there's hundreds of posts much worse than that.

  38. Hipsters. He liked Joe before anyone knew who Joe was. And Joy Division.

I would absolutely prefer Cesaro as an NXT guy

    ReplyDelete
  40. I really didn't care for Bret/Perfect. Perfect overselling Bret's weak offense didn't do it for me.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I knew it deserved it when I started freaking out whether Balor could actually win.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Who could ever forget BIG T?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I expected Balor to go over, but I wasn't sure by the end of the match. It was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  44. King Of The Ring '93 was probably their best match, even though Sunmerslam '91 was pretty good, too.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, I was like "Owens kicked out of the Coup de Grace? What else does Balor have?"
