Extreme Rules Buyrate In

http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-top-stories/118-daily-updates/25765-lesnar-vs-cena-buys

147K domestic, 109K international, for a total of 257K.  Last year's show did 210K total, so Brock = 50,000 buys or about 2 million dollars in added revenue give or take.  Everyone involved should be VERY happy with that result.

On the flipside, the Wrestlemania buys continue to trickle in, and WWE very quietly revised their initial count of 1.3 million nearly 100,000 buys downwards, to 1.2 million instead.  So they don't break the record, and in this case 100,000 buys is basically an entire B-show's worth of revenue, so that's a pretty major adjustment down. Could go lower when the official numbers come out next month, too.

  1. Is it wrong that I can't tell if Scott is being sarcastic or not?

  2. If they are paying Brock $5 million for doing 7 or 8 PPV, and one appearance is responsible for a $2 million increase in revenue, then it would seem to be non-sarcastic good news for the time being.

Whether he will have that kind of influence on remaining PPV buyrates, of course, remains to be seen.

  3. Actually, my math is off, because WWE only gets to keep about $20 of the PPV buy, so it's actually less than a million.  So not quite as good news, but I wasn't being sarcastic about it anyway.

  4. A 50,000 uptick for a non-Big-4 PPV is nothing to sneeze at. They got treated to an awesome show too, aside from the ending.

  5. It might be a good idea to keep his appearances infrequent on PPV.  The last thing you want is a burnout with his fans.

  6. Wait, so does this mean that Donald Trump is still a bigger draw than The Rock?

  7. Let's say this is the average and Brock appears at 8 PPVs and they make a million extra per. That means they come out 3 million ahead on the Brock deal. Good job on the WWE's part if that's the case.

  8. Plus, any fans that buy the DVD of the show is additional revenue.

  9. And if they make a lot of money off DVD revenues, they'll no longer have any justifiable excuses to overdub CM Punk's music.

  10. Also, any time somebody gets a shitty sword tattoo on their chest, WWE now gets a 10% royalty. If that person goes into a Jimmy Johns, Vince gets a coupon for a free sub. So really Brock's salary is already paying for itself.

  11.  That makes me so sad.

  12. What's funny is that WM also did the biggest legit paid crowd they've done since Summer Slam 1992

  13. That show had a LOT going for it past Trump, since it was the first stadium show in a few years, had Cena at its peak and they played off of the WM 3 anniversary to perfection.

In terms of buildup, WM 23 might have been the best job the WWE has done with a WrestleMania since 17.

Also helped that they didnt slap together main events. Batista/Taker & Cena/HBK were set in stone for 2 months...just felt epic.

  14. I think they'd be happier if they didn't give Brock $5 million. Be interesting to see if Brock's draw remains strong as the novelty wears off and he's stuck w/ Triple H.

  15. Scott "Subway" Steiner?

  16. I love it. Rocky isn't as popular as a "Loser Gets Their Hair Cut" match. Fantastic news.

It will be interesting to see if Brock can pull any more buys now that he's just another guy that loses to Cena (and Triple H obviously).

  17.  Yeah, shows what a good, careful buildup can do I suppose!

  18. No, we discussed this a couple months back, that massive buyrate was ALL Trump. ET was interviewing legit A-listers on the red carpet and asking them who they thought would win between Vince and Trump. It was the most mainstream pub WWE had since the height of Attitude.
