TNA Files Suit Against WWE

http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-top-stories/118-daily-updates/25776-tna-files-lawsuit-against-wwe-and-former-employee

Not sure why WWE would be so hot to get Flair back that they'd risk contract tampering charges.  Obviously the writing was on the wall as far as Flair's TNA involvement when he appeared at the Hall of Fame and Wrestlemania, and boy does TNA have some damning evidence in their favor from all that silliness, too.  I kind of hope that TNA takes them to the cleaners just to finally teach Vince a lesson, but I feel like he'd just raid the shit out of TNA in retaliation.

I know that there's no way he'd want to, but I think that Flair going down to Florida to train their FCW geeks would be 100 times more valuable than putting him on RAW to pop a rating and hit on Vickie or whatever stupid thing they'd have for him after going to all this trouble.  Or even managing the Rex/Hawkins Dynamic Dorks team or something along those lines to find SOMEONE who can give these guys a rub.

  1. Shit, does this mean we have to sit through more Flair on the Legends Roundtables? The man does not shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  2. They've been having trouble filling that 4th spot. DDP was terrible and Nash was just ok. I'm hoping Road Dog will be good on these next two.

I can't recall offhand any episodes I've seen with him - is he worse than Hayes?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Does anyone think Ric Flair at this point would pop a rating of any consquence?

Flair just makes me sad at this point. One of the reasons I avoid TNA is because I hate to see old guys like him and Hogan still hanging around like they still mean something.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I doubt the WWE cares that much about TNA that they would hire this guy and use him for inside info. I'm guessing it was a case of this guy offering it up and WWE was like "whatever".

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yes... as crazy as it sounds there is someone worse than Hayes and it's Flair.

He constantly hijacks the conversation, is dismissive of the others opinions (unless they align with his own), he rambles (which they all do from time to time to be fair), and comes off as a bitter hypocrite who will slag people for shit he hates (Hall/Nash for the Curtain Call) while ignoring the role his friends played in it (HHH/HBK in same Curtain Call).

I saw him in the Greatest Moments one, and another one I'm blanking on at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  7. From early rumor reports, they would likely just use him for YT, On Demand, and WWE Network stuff a la Road Dogg.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hayes isn't that bad. I thought he was good on the Monday Night Wars discussion. He kept calling Bischoff on the bullshit he did back then.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I thought Nash was ok too but I had high hopes for him so I was a little disappointed. I think Road Dogg will be great, I watched his shoot with Billy Gunn and remember being entertained by him. I just hope he's not one of those guys that loses his mojo after getting clean and sober (judging by "Are You Serious?" I think he'll be ok).

    ReplyDelete
  10. If I were WWE I would pay Flair to stay home for a little while, hit the gym, and get a haircut/hairplugs and then bring him in to manage and mentor Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, or both to be main event mainstays.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Same. Nash's shoot is probably my favorite. The Outlaws one is good too.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Wow, I'll be really interested to see how this all turns out.  Jerry McDevitt is usually on top of his game, but it sounds like TNA has a legitimate case here that they might have a chance at winning.  The real loser here sounds like Ric Flair.  If WWE hires him now, I think it gives more credibility to TNA's claim.  So if they don't hire him, TNA doesn't want him, kinda leaves Flair hanging with nothing but his mountain and mountains of debt.

    ReplyDelete
  13. It kind of makes you wonder about that whole "Flair was a true professional and Eric Bishoff decided to treat him like shit and sue him for no particular reason" thing, doesn't it? The guy is a joke. He ran to TNA, working with/for Hogan and Bishoff, because WWE didn't want to pay him whatever he wanted to roll around screaming "Oh God" while bleeding. From most reports he strolls into Orlando, cuts the occasional promo and acts like an idiot at clubs/bars/hotels, leaving tabs for TNA to pay....so then when WWE has a use for him at the HOF, he can't wait to go. He's going, whether TNA likes it or not. And then he makes no mention of TNA and talks about how he wants to come back to WWE, right there, on camera, spitting in the face of the company that's been paying his various bills the past two years. Why does anyone bother with him? He's two faced and if he went back to WWE and TNA decided a year down the line to pay him more he'd be trying to go back there. He adds nothing to wrestling anymore - even his WWE Network insight would only be entertaining to hear him shoot off about people he doesn't like and talk about the Horsemen in the 80's as if it's everything wrestling should be.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anybody else see the story about how Flair's endorsement deal with Coca-Cola is apparently for enough money that he never has to wrestle again? How much do celebs get for those type of deals? I thought Flair owed a ton of cash, anyone remember how much that Grantland article said it was.

The whole "never has to wrestle again" line threw me off is all.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, I saw the one when he's talking about Hall/Nash, dismissing them as nothing. I'm sure getting drunk with the Horsemen and having the same match every night was a great time for him, but it was the nWo that took WCW a head of WWE. Not Flair. But sure, they're nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You should see Mark Madden's tweets. Anytime any of these Flair stories gets out, he immediately bashes TNA. I swear he thinks he is Flair's PR guy.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm still trying to figure out why they'd use Flair.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Outlaws shoot is one of my favorites as well; in fact, in a sign that this business truly is never say never, RD said he would never in a million years go back to WWE.

OTOH, I really like him and Josh on the Are You Serious show. The puppet HHH cracks me up.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm sure it's enough but by the weekend he'll be broke again.

    ReplyDelete
  20. All this Flair talk got me thinking about that YouTube video featuring Flair's most embarrassing TNA (like the one where the ref has to pull his pants up for him) set to that sad music. I can't find it so I'm throwing it out there to see if anyone remembers what is was called, or what to search for.

I need a laugh after all the Over the Edge talk.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Given that WWE approached TNA to let them know this was happening, filing a lawsuit is a dumb move. Even if they win, a vengeful Vince McMahon is much worse than an apathetic Vince McMahon...

Well, provided he doesn't run any Millionaire Dixie sketches.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ric Flair would be a terrible agent. He may have been a great wrestler in his day but he's too unreliable and from everything I've seen of him he does not come across as someone who would be able to selflessly share his wrestling knowledge. Not every great player would make a great or even good coach and I have a feeling that Ric Flair is one of those great ones who would make a terrible teacher.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, you're right he's not bad, he's just a racist, that's all...

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have a feeling that the FCW roster would show up every morning with a hangover if they sent him down there.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks for taking my comment about how he does on a discussion about wrestling as an endorsement on every aspect of his life.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This one?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Are you kidding?? Who better to pimp an energy drink than RIC F'N FLAIR??

    ReplyDelete
  28. That's the one!

Thanks, I needed that. Never fails to crack me up.

    ReplyDelete
  29. In terms of someone who's eyes are bugging out of his head while yelling and stripping his clothes off because he's so energetic, he's a great choice. He's just not the most relevant celebrity these days. Have there been commercials or anything for this?

    ReplyDelete
  30. One step closer to a new Horsemen group with Flair in the JJ role and Ziggler as the leader of the group.

    Make this happen!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I AM SURE MR. WITTENSTEIN WOULD LIKE TO HELP YOU, BUT AS YOU CAN SEE, HE HAS ALREADY, AHEM, DISAPPEARED IN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY..

I'M APPOINTING PAT PATTERSON OR THE GHOST OF JOHNNY RODZ AS HEAD OF PANDA ENERGY ONCE I AM DONE WITH THE CARTER FAMILY.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I dislike Flair, but that video just made me sad. I'm sure back in the 80s Flair didn't picture himself out there in his 60s, humiliating himself like this because he's got a mountain of debt. Oh well, he brought it all on himself.

    ReplyDelete
  33. As much as I love Ziggler, I can't picture him in that role. I could see him and Swagger as the tag team that rounds out the group tho.

    ReplyDelete
  34.  Yes to this.  Look at Michael Jordan.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's def embarrassing, but I have a feeling Flair never planned (plans?) on retiring.  Nutz.

    ReplyDelete
  36. While I agree with you in principal, the problem is legally WWE was required to tell TNA as soon as he approached them and what info he approached them with.

    ReplyDelete
  37.  I guess I'm starving for some kind of serious stable whether it be Evolution or a new Horsemen group.  You do need one established guy and since Ziggler needs a main event push, he came to mind instantly.  Maybe Del Rio?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well, Vince just stole Shelley and Morgan right?  So maybe this is TNA's return shot?

    ReplyDelete
  39. He better drop an elbow on a can of coke and put another bear in the Figure Four.

    ReplyDelete
  40. What, Vickie and AW's posses aren't good enough for you?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ziggler doesn't feel like the head of stable type guy to me. He fits more into the number 2 guy who eventually outshines the leader and then turns face when he is kicked out mold. Del Rio would work.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I've also gleaned that you plan to vote Republican in the next election.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The Love-Matic Grandpa!May 24, 2012 at 7:42 PM

Given WWE's track record in general and their history with stables in particular, I wouldn't expect one to be anything more than cannon fodder for the likes of Cena and Orton. Since they're seemingly incapable of putting together a serious tag division for any significant amount of time, I don't see them putting much effort into a group unless someone with clout (HHH, for example) is involved.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Why are you yelling?

  46.  This one made me laugh just a little....

"JOB OPENING: A GUY OR GAL WHO KNOWS A THING OR TWO. $75K, BENEFITS, 401K, ANAL."

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think they'd show up with more than a hangover. Some of them would show up with blood on their hands after murdering a hooker or two. These kids probably aren't used to doing the hard shit Flair used to do or probably still does.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm pretty sure you're not being serious, but Vickie is still a comedy act and AW is pure mid-card.

    ReplyDelete
  49.  I imagine this is Dixie's parents' call, probably the only way they'll ever recoup any money regarding Flair. I don't see why anyone would hire Flair again, he's just going to be a constant problem and he's too old to actually help in anything. He's wrestling's own Pierce Hawthorne.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah, ADR is perfect for the Flair role, IMO.

Ziggler as Luger/Windham, fantastic.  He totally works as the cocksure star athlete who doesn't quite have the ruthlessness to be the man.  Plus it's probably the only way you could turn a natural douchebag like him face.

The Blanchard/Anderson role is a lot more difficult.  Mostly because tag teams aren't at their peak right now.

I'd put Swagger as Arn, not only because he physically fits the enforcer role but also because I think he's a great tag guy.  He doesn't have a vast enough moveset to make a really enthralling singles guy but his amateur style works for the heat scenes.

Blanchard is tough.  McIntyre?  Still green and I don't think partnering with Swagger will help that much on that end.  Rhodes?  No, he's a lone wolf character and he shouldn't be a flunky.  I can't think of anybody on the main roster, but maybe somebody who's more aware of FCW could help me out?  Richie Steamboat would be funny, but I heard he's pretty much a copy of his dad, and I don't see him as a heel.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've always thought they should bring up Richie and pair him with Flair kinda like what TNA did with him and AJ.

Flair cuts a promo saying he is scouting potential wrestlers to manage. After scouting Richie's first match, they get into it. A match at the PPV is signed for Richie vs the guy who everyone is expecting Flair to side with. Flair turns on him and helps Richie win.

A heel Richie managed by Flair would a unique dynamic on the Flair/Steamboat history. Give him the Superkick finish and give it a badass name like the Steam Kick and boom, instant upper midcarder and future star.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would go with Del Rio and Ziggler on top, and the Rotundo brothers in Arn/Tully role. Use their real names too, get rid of that Bo Dallas bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ziggler/Swagger/McIntyre is a pretty solid core group of underutilized talent.

Of course, they'd all just end up jobbing in handicap matches.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hey is anyone here watching impact? Wtf was that opening segement in hogans office where they went over the format sheet and argued about who.was getting booked to fight roode. I freely admit I almost never watch the show but i figured I'd give it a shot. Are they blending like reality show segements within the show? I'm not sure how I feel about that

    ReplyDelete
  55. Whooooooooooooooo, I hope he never does. I love flair, and I'm guessing you do too. Granted he's had some rough moments in tna but who cuts a better promo. Flair is the fucking man, I can't understand why people who post on here give a shit about his finances. He's the nature boy, and I think he's even more awesome for living his gimmick. There will never be another one folks

    ReplyDelete
  56. Because people fucking love ric flair!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. No offense, and I'm not trying to be a dick to you, but you sir, are a huge hater. He's slick ric, he's the micheal Jordan of wrestling. He should always be in a wrestling company and when he dies they should make it an angle because hes that awesome

    ReplyDelete
  58. You really don't think raw would be better with ric managing a few guys, cutting promos, and taking a few bumps? Dude hes ric flair. Maybe he couldn't pop a rating but he could make the show better.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Awesome post, Mar Solo.

It's not everyday you see a "Very Bad Things" reference, great underrated movie. I especially love the scene where Daniel Stern finally snaps.

    ReplyDelete
  60. For a moment there, I thought jobber123 actually was Mark Madden in disguise.

  61. Southern_DiscomfortMay 24, 2012 at 9:13 PM

He's got that whole interrupting/rambling issue though. Can't stand it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That just cracked me up, and I have no idea why.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Now Doug Somers is suing WWE!  His case is pretty pathetic, though.

    http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/239688/WWE-Being-Sued-by-Former-AWA-Champion-Over-Likeness-Rights.htm

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hayes actually contributes.  He might be trying to put himself over at times, but honestly he does it in almost a loveable, endearing way.

Flair was all about Ric Flair and in some ways acted like he was the final authority on things.  Plus, his cheap shot at Douglas - despite Dougals own failings - was uncalled for.  Douglas was being discussed, and from out of nowhere Flair dropped the "isn't he working Target?" line (he might have said Walmart).  And you could tell that the person who most got a kick out of "Ric Flair stories" was Ric Flair.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I swear to God that's HHH actually the puppet.

I also love how when it's time for him to go, he just flips backwards.  I find it such an amusing visual for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I can't stand mark madden, but I fucking love ric flair and I feel like that grantland article was unfair and lacked context. I don't get why people trash him. He's awesome and gave his life to the sport we love. I love the nature boy

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm glad that was a movie reference I didn't get. I was about to post a "wtf are you talking about?" comment.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Better hope he doesn't see this or he will hit you up for 20 bucks.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I wish someone would find a way to sue Twitter and get them shut down.

    ReplyDelete
  70. like hell that article was, please mess like this is why the article was written in the first place, it seems that every 6 months or so there is something that is going on with Flair. So they decided to do a whole collage of Flair's little follies, though I guess it woud seem kinda messed up to just run down all his troubles. Now they need to do a series starting with Sunny, Hardys and ending with Hall

    ReplyDelete
  71. sadly he sorta deserves this, trying to just high tail and leave TNA jsut cause he got anothr taste of the good life and that one of his kids is employed there now.

    ReplyDelete
  72. it seems that being screwed by Eric, and (Crockett I assume as well) has turned the once victim into the pereptrator

    ReplyDelete
  73. spoken like the typical "let his do whatever he/she wants, it's okay, they made a few hits or movies or whatever" this is why they have entitlement issues in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm surprised he can afford to have his clothes ripped like that.

    ReplyDelete
  75.  I have Sunny on my facebook. She's an interesting character. As are a lot of the fans who post on her wall/status defending everything he says/does as if they think it'll get them in her pants. I know with Sunny it's always possible, but still somewhat unlikely.

    ReplyDelete
  76.  You know, if all set up a pay pal account, and just threw a few dollars in it here and there, in a year or two we could probably afford to hire Flair to do something. Maybe send him to Scott's house for his birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The sad thing is, Flair would probably cost less than Lenny Lane.

    ReplyDelete
  78. "Come on everybody in TNA, style and profile tonight baby because all drinks are on the Nature Boy! WHOOOOOOO!!!!"

Five seconds later: "Hey AJ, do you have $100?"

    ReplyDelete
  79. If anything, they need to be glad that Flair's silly self is off their hands, and take the quarter of a mil  loss to him (and paying his bills) as a junk bond, bonding out junk

    ReplyDelete
  80. A few hits? He's the greatest of all time and can do whatever he wants. He probably feels entitled because he's ric flair. I don't ever expect extraordinary people to act ordinary

    ReplyDelete
  81. This isn't a realistic thought.  It's just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Always talking about hoping some dude gives another dude a rub. You're on some John Travolta ish, Scott Queef. And I for one like it. Rock hard right now.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Flair in Richie's corner is such an awesome idea, I can't even think of a witty comment to accompany your post.

    ReplyDelete
  84. btw: THAT would be an awesome gimmick for him.
