Monday Night Open Mic (Raw #1000)

Ahhh we've come a long way since January 11, 1993. Some say too far, others say not far enough and some even think we've moved backwards.

I don't expect many storylines to be advanced but we'll see a lot of old, familiar faces and hopefully the WWE will give us plenty of reasons to forget about the current unsatisfactory product for a night and enjoy the good times.

So for three hours I want you to come out swinging but try to keep it clean. Enjoy the show.

Comments

  1. Y/N: Tonight's Raw does a higher rating than the show will ever do again.

I'd say yes, with the possible exception of the final episode.

    ReplyDelete
  2. They could absolutely hit a 4

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ichiro to the yankees? That's nuts

    ReplyDelete
  4. For two minor league pitchers?  Should have at least given him the dignity of retiring a Mariner.

    ReplyDelete
  5. It would be a major dissapointment if they didn't get at least a 4.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Couldnt he have stayed until he got 3000 hits? Thats a crazy trade. Yankees are set now too

    ReplyDelete
  7. That first hour is going to sink the rating a bit but I think all three hours pull a 4.1

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ugh. I was thinking of checking out some of the Mariners game tonight, but seeing him in a Yankee uniform would cause me to lose my dinner. Pass.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'd say prepare to be disappointed. 3 hour Raws, even with lots of hype, are a hard ratings draw, mainly because of that first hour.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think a 3.8 is what they will get.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ok so which thread is the B-team thread?

    CUZ SUCKAZ GOTS TO KNOW!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Two random wrestling related non-sequitors:

    1. Saw Dark Knight Rises last night, and I definitely loved it, although I found Bane's fascist-villainy made for a more straightforward action movie plot than Joker's anarchist-villainy did in the last one. And I couldn't get the thought of him sounding like Sean Connery from SNL Celebrity Jeopardy out of my head. Anyhow, my point: what's the over-under on Mysterio doing a Bane mask at Wrestlemania this year? It'd be a pretty big change for him.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I wouldnt count on it. Im sure its gonna be something Iron Man themed.

    ReplyDelete
  14. And 2: In all this kerfuffle that's been going on with the McMahons and the press in Connecticut, some of you might have seen the big debate where a writer called them out for the Eugene character, and they had Nick Dinsmore do a video defending it and made a big counter-argument. Everyone knows where I stand on that kind of issue but: at one point in one of the press releases, they mentioned that they support a number of organizations that benefit people with developmental disabilities, including The ARC. The ARC is the national parent organization of all its state-wide independent agencies, and I work for the New York State chapter in St. Lawrence county, St. Lawrence NYSARC. So, Vince McMahon donates money to ARC, which is distributed through NYSARC, which is then delegated to my agency (some of it anyway, it's more complicated than that) where I get paid to work, and of course use that paycheck to pay my bills, including my cable & internet. SO, by the transitive property, Vince McMahon pays me to bitch about Raw on the internet!

Thanks boss, I won't let you down!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Would make the Summerslam rematch a lot more interesting if Cena goes in being the first guy to lose his cash in and also having never beaten Punk. However I'm fully expecting a Big Show DQ finish that leads to a triple threat at SS. Vomit.

    ReplyDelete
  16.  4 years and running people have been "sure" of that, and it hasn't been yet.

    ReplyDelete
  17. http://www.wwe.com/classics/superstars-two-titles-photos
When did Bret Hart and Goldberg win the tag titles!?

    ReplyDelete
  18. In honor of Raw 1000, Charlie's last entry at the BoD:

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm calling 3.7.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Awesome. Fuck Raw, the Yankees/Mariners game tonight should be awesome.

Hopefully this will make up for that ridiculous Montero/Pineda trade from the offseason.

    ReplyDelete
  21. JUST EIGHT MORE MINUTES

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dammit!  Which thread should I troll on??

    ReplyDelete
  23. They may be bringing in Slick about 15 years or so too late, but I will mark for him nonetheless.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Slick? Was he even on Raw?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Does anybody realize that we're gonna have to sit through all of this self-congratulation again in 6 months, when WWE is celebrating "The 20th Anniversary of Raw"?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Apparently you've forgotten the epic kamala "you're a man" angle

    ReplyDelete
  27. If they bring back Miss Elizabeth and have HHH hump her corpse while Kane looks on and cries, they will have me as a fan for life. I will never miss on paying for another PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like how almost that first whole minute involved no wrestling whatsoever. SPORTZ ENTERTAINMENT!

    ReplyDelete
  29. SERIOUSLY THEY FUCKING PUT CHOPPY CHOPPY YOUR PEE IN THE MONTAGE?!! THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Holy crap. "Choppy-choppy your pee pee" makes the opening montage?!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm kinda counting on it. Hell, if the whole show was them Touting "Did You Know?" I'd be thrilled! (No, I wouldn't, but I have to wonder if that's what they expect their audience to want.)

    ReplyDelete
  32. So, like, Scott's thread was like the pre-show on You Tube, and Princess' thread is the main event?

The highlights they're choosing to put in this opening are nothing short of mind boggling.

    THE MIZ KID MADE IT!

    ReplyDelete
  33. This song. Oh lord.

    CHOPPY CHOPPY PEE PEE!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh god they mentioned Shawn losing his smile? That was an embarrassment.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I wasn't watching before, but the TV's going on now! Hell with this studying!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Very detailed, very enjoyable introduction.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Indeed I have.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Awesome montage.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey, I won a bet with myself that McMahon would open the show.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I dont care if the rest of the show sucks, that montage makes it worthwhile

    ReplyDelete
  41. Only one man can start this epic night off...VKM!

    ReplyDelete
  42. They brought up the good and the bad...but mostly the good.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cool montage, although a bit too slanted towards the past few years.

    ReplyDelete
  44. TRENDING! TWITTER! TOUT!

    ReplyDelete
  45. EVERYBODY GET TO TWITTER AND GET #CHOPPYCHOPPYYOURPEE TO TREND! I like that they know it's worth joking about.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Im going to try to enjoy this show & not try to be too snarky or smarky...we'll see if the WWE lets me do that.

Great montage, but man does it shows how much the "guest host" era really sucked. As much as I haven't liked Raw since WrestleMania, it was completely unwatchable w/ the guest hosts.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don;t care how bad the product is right now. I'm gonna mark out like a sunuvabitch all night.

Then next week I'll go back to being negative.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Fucking glow sticks.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The intro was fantastic. And that camera work makes the arena in St. Louis look MASSIVE.

    ReplyDelete
  50. When did Shawn Michaels get so lame? Seriously, talking about his underwear bunching up?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have a feeling the show is going to be too self-congratulatory.

Although I like where this is going. NEW AGE OUTLAWS???

    ReplyDelete
  52. Awesome! It's more special if they have all of DX out there rather than just HHH & Shawn that we've seen over & over.

    ReplyDelete
  53. God damn. The Outlaws and X-Pac. This is great stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Where's Chyna the Pornstar?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wow. Outlaws AND X-Pac. Ok, this is cool.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Needs JR's sarcastic "Oh God, he's back" call.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh my God, Lawler do NOT give them ideas.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Dogg bleeped "ass". Puh-lease.

    ReplyDelete
  59.  Did they just bleep "ass"???

    ReplyDelete
  60. Pac has an impressive beer gut these days.

And I just lost my shit for Road Dogg's intro.

    ReplyDelete
  61. "Badman" Billy Gunn? Anyway, a nice way to open the show.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Gotta sell the one night only t-shirt

    ReplyDelete
  63. This Billy Gunn/HBK stuff is pretty damn funny.

Saying "Let's get ready to sucka", not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wow, they look like they're having so much fun out there, it's great to see.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Any chance of a Chyna TOUT video tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Its fun watching them screw around out there.

    ReplyDelete
  67.  Keep X-pac and the Outlaws around to feud with Sandow, it'd help get him over.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Alright, this is officially dragging...

    ReplyDelete
  69.  hell just keep the Outlaws in general just so we can have one tag team

    ReplyDelete
  70. "What will we use the extra hour for?"

    "20 minute skits!"

Ugh. And Shawn wasn't even IN the group when the Outlaws and X-Pac were.

    ReplyDelete
  71.  Oh come the fuck on. Did they need to do that to Sandow?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sandow is hysterical.

    ReplyDelete
  73. How many vintages can we expect from Cole tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  74. For once, a not half-assed DX segment.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Haters gonna hate, but I marked out.

They have never been together before!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Did X-Pac even get in a word? still, he looked happy as could be out there.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Degeneration X could have been very interesting with HHH, Pac & the Outlaws serving as henchmen to keep the belt on Shawn. But then again, if Shawn had never gotten injured, they probably wouldn't have expanded the group.

    ReplyDelete
  78. So are they changing up the show completely(new stage, new theme, new WWE Championship)?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Who'd you want them to do it to? At least he was on Raw for once, and he was in a segment people would actually see.

    ReplyDelete
  80. DX reunion came up a bit small......no Hornswoggle! Meh.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Slater. THAT would have been hysterical.

    ReplyDelete
  82. They came up with the minimum that wouldn't have disappointed me.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I may not care for that intro music, but I am a huge fan of the lead-in music....

Sounds like the opening to NFL Football on CBS, but that's a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  84. sandow v dx, already love this show

    ReplyDelete
  85. It was a 5-on-1. That beatdown does nothing to hurt him, and gave him some much needed exposure.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Yeah that was a great segment. I'm already glad I tuned in.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I thought Road Dogg bleeped himself?

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'm a gigantic sandow fan. I loved that segment. He got to work with the big boys on the biggest raw of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Is that barbecue sauce on JR's face ;)

    ReplyDelete
  90. JIM ROSS IS DOING THE WHOLE SHOW.

    FUCK YES.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I like the new set.

    ReplyDelete
  92. It's evil Jim Ross.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Is that Lillian?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Damn...for a moment I thought we were getting Mysterio vs Sin Cara.

    ReplyDelete
  95. WACKY TAG TEAM MATCH NO. 1

    ReplyDelete
  96. I was hoping that too

    ReplyDelete
  97. sandow in the opening segment talking shit to dx. So great to see

    ReplyDelete
  98. Give me a cash-in, right here.

    ReplyDelete
  99.  They've got a plan for him tonight, I'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  100. The World Curtainjerking Champion in action!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Me too... I've never been so sad to see Sheamus show up.

    ReplyDelete
  102.  A live mic has never been his friend.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Jericho, Ziggler and ADR?

    ReplyDelete
  104.  I know, kidding. Adding Hornswoggle pretty much killed DX off to me.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I loved Jericho's reverse trolling last week.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'd be shocked if Jericho and Ziggler have issues in this match. Shocked, I say.

    ReplyDelete
  107. How fucking silent was that crowd during Sin Cara's entrance? He's lucky kids like to buy masks at shows or he'd already be back in Mexico.

    ReplyDelete
  108. 35 minutes until we get to our first match. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  109. JR sucks. He hasn't told me what kind of car Del Rio is driving.

    ReplyDelete
  110. You had to know going into this that the wrestling would be secondary tonight...

    ReplyDelete
  111. He played the part to perfection.

    ReplyDelete
  112. He's even luckier in that Hunico more than adequately filled in for him, so he's replaceable by pretty much any generic Luchador.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Throughout those entrances I kept thinking 'I know the entrance set looks different but I can't figure out how'. Finally clicked, no WWE logo. Looks like they've compressed the stage too.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Charlie Sheen hasn't tweeted shit.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'm honestly surprised it we got one before the 2nd hour

    ReplyDelete
  116.  There's still 2.5 hours left to humiliate him and get him off set!

    ReplyDelete
  117. I'm so happy they aren't doing Heel Cole this week, he's being complimentary toward JR & everything. Never thought I'd wish to go back to the days of Michael Cole being a generic face commentator, but....

    ReplyDelete
  118. Andddd we have our first TOUT mention

    ReplyDelete
  119. Wow...King actually recalled that Hornswaggle was the Anonymous GM!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Charlie Sheen doesn't have twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  121. THE ARROGANT COVER~!

    ReplyDelete
  122.  You might want to stop watching this show til around 10:45 if you want to see wrestling... just got a feeling there's gonna be a lot of talkin'.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Did I hear lawler call him centar?

    ReplyDelete
  124. The exhausted crawl for the tag three minutes in...

    ReplyDelete
  125. Nice botch Sheamus.

    ReplyDelete
  126. This is a really good 6 man match. So far this first hour has rocked.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Not trying to overstate it, but JR on commentary makes the show about 5-10% better than usual.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Jericho was a bit sloppy in that match.

    ReplyDelete
  129. What a sloppy match this 6-man tag turned out to be

    ReplyDelete
  130.  http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8177480/wedding-fiasco-return-degeneration-x-mystery-gm-candidate

Reading that rundown, I'm suprised we have any matches at all.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yeah... I clearly expect to much out of World WRESLTING Entertainment.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Same old booking on RAW M.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Oh man is that the only match jr is calling?

    ReplyDelete
  134. He was bad. He blew spots with Sin Cara and Seamus

    ReplyDelete
  135. Also sounds like JR only gets to do commentary on a throw-away six man tag in the first hour, since Cole just wished him well.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Am I the only one regretting not voting for the new disqus format?

    ReplyDelete
  137. "Sheamus is a walking slobber-knocker."

It sure is nice to have JR calling matches.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Whoa, is Rock challenging at Summerfest a reality?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Are you kidding?  I thought we were FINALLY going to see that JR/King/Cole Triple Threat match!  Guess I'll just have to fire up WW '12...

    ReplyDelete
  140. Nice to see Sheamus bring those two Mexican kids in the ring to celebrate with him.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Um.... no. I miss the new one to. At least this is updating for me again, although I probably have to go in an clear my cookies soon.

    ReplyDelete
  142.  And they added a lot of screens on each side.  WWE logo is at the top of the TitanTron.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Old Disqus is for the Greater Good.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Wait, thanks for being here? JR's leaving? If he was only doing one match, they couldn't have saved him for Punk-Cena? Wasn't Punk soliciting Cena to push for JR calling it on Twitter? That must've been it right there. Once Vince heard about that, he had JR call the insignificant 6-man just to spite Punk.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Commerical Break question. What does everyone think of the PSU thing today? 14 years of wins vacated! Thats so nuts

    ReplyDelete
  146. Sends the right message to Penn State and every other college.

    ReplyDelete
  147. The biggest heel of the night- the prices of gas

    ReplyDelete
  148. The most talked about TV episode in history on Social Media"

The quotes get even more ridiculous by the day.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Here we go with the tout. These are so fake

    ReplyDelete
  150. Remember how the TOUTs didn't make the fans look like complete idiots last week? Well, that's over.

    ReplyDelete
  151. THAT'S what we have to look forward to from Tout? Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

    ReplyDelete
  152. omg that touts were so embarrassing.  whats the deal with the last guy.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Charlie Sheen once replaced Michael J Fox on Spin City, he now moves around like him too.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Sheen fakes out the WWE Universe!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Holy shit, they actually put out a commercial to get people not to use Tout.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Holy fuck now they're skypeing with Charlie Sheen! (and apparently his web cam is from 2002).

    ReplyDelete
  157. Yeah that was a classic one

    ReplyDelete
  158.  FRUITY DELICIOUS TOUTLICIOUS TOUTY BY GOD KING IT'S TOUT

    ReplyDelete
  159. I think he was trying to be the Rock, but he came off more like Samoa Joe.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Told ya not to get your hopes up!!

    ReplyDelete
  161.  "You two are crazy! Go see a Psychologist!"

    ReplyDelete
  162. I bet Todd Petingill is pissed that Tout took his job.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess charlie sheen isn't watching this show, and probably hasn't caught any of previous 999 shows.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Oh my god. Its the hand.

    ReplyDelete
  165. There's that top notch aj acting. Hope your enjoying it boys!

    ReplyDelete
  166. The hand? Tell me I did NOT just see that.

    ReplyDelete
  167. This entire segment is making me want to see more TOUTs.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Are you fucking kidding me? lol

    ReplyDelete
  169. Mae youngs hand grew up!!!! Now that was fucking awesome

    ReplyDelete
  170. The Hand is the funniest thing that will happen all night.

    More Layla.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Standing side-by-side, AJ isnt even in the same class as Layla.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Now aren't you glad that you let that Mae Young/Mark Henry angle play out??

    ReplyDelete
  173. Mae Young's hand!! See, just wait and see how things play out...

    ReplyDelete
  174. The HAND is all growns up!!!

That made the whole night worth it for me.
