Dewey vs Dominic

H Scott,

We've seen plenty of 2nd and 3rd generation stars, but is there anyone who's been in front of the camera as children as much as Dewey Foley and Rey's kid Dominic? I'd love to see both of them become future stars, with Dewey as the heel (twisted from being traumatized watching his dad) vs a face Dominic, wearing his father's mask. The video packages with old footage of them watching their parents in action could be epic.

Is there anyone else who has been on TV "growing up before our eyes" then making it on TV themselves as a wrestler? The only one I can think of is Ritchie Steamboat…I remember a photo piece in old WWF Magazine about Ricky and Bonnie Steamboat welcoming their "little dragon" into the world.

Personally I'd rather that they get a good education with their fathers' money and do something other than wrestling, but maybe that's the cynic in me talking.

But no, the only one I can think of "growing up on TV" is Richie, unless you count Reid Flair, but then he doesn't seem like he's going to follow Ric into the business anyway.  As always, it makes me feel old that I can still remember Ricky introducing the Little Dragon to the world after Wrestlemania.

  1. Wow. What a weird question.

If you have a *REAAAAALLLLY* good eye maybe Shane O'Mac? He's all over some of those early Coliseum tapes in ref's outfits and playing the part of "warm body standing next to Jack Tunney".

Poor Dominick. That kid had all the acting chops of a spade shovel.

  2. Reid isn't still training?

    Other possible contenders:

    Dakota Rhodes
    Tyler Fullington

Speaking of which, I'm amazed that Kevin Von Erich's kids would want anything to with the wrestling business.

    ReplyDelete
  4. For the same combination of reasons that almost all wrestlers have gotten into the business historically.

    A.  Born into it
    B. Not a lot of other options in life
    C. A chance, however slim, of being an honest to goodness star
    D. Higher tolerance for deviant sexual behaviour and drug use

    ReplyDelete
  5. Blade Hart, he's all over Wrestling With Shaddows. And Dallas Hart for that matter; who a few years ago was supposed to start training with Storm, but then it didn't happen. Being Bret's son I can understand why he wouldn't want be a wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  6. You forgot fail at something else. Like Randy Orton going AWOL then becoming a wrestler.

    ReplyDelete
  7. What about David Fitzgerald Finlay's kid?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I always remembered seeing Little Dragon all over TV, I knew growing up that someday he'd be a big star in wrestling.

I always figured Dallas Hart was a shoo-in, he had that column in WWF magazine in the mid-90s, but I guess if he was ever going to get into it he would have been in the backyard doing it with Harry, Teddy, TJ and the one that died.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yup, that falls under B.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It probably just depends on who of them is actually around and who isn't a minor prop on TV from time to time.  You hear Dusty give interviews and it seems like Cody is around or at least on the periphery of quite a few of his stories.  Off hand I remember him viewing the Shockmaster fiasco and saying "I think that was Uncle Fred!"  Lots of other stories like that showing that he was a firsthand part of the wrestling business from early.

A lot of wrestlers kids seems to barely know their fathers or barely know the wrestling business.  The whole reason Scott Hall's kid is giving/gave it a go (depending on what day it is apparently) was to connect with his Dad and get to know him a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I can't wait until Dewey jobs to Triple H's kids.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ashley Flair just started in NXT. Also Shaul Guerrero (Raquel Diaz) appeared a few times on Smackdown when she was younger.

    ReplyDelete
  13. now mr. chin your kids are a wrestling dynasty just waiting to happen, correct??

    ReplyDelete
  14. Reid apparently inherited his father's vices (and some other ones).

    ReplyDelete
  15. And when Dewey finally makes it, he will be renamed Tad Butterworth.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Man, that was rough story to read... scrapes his thumb in the ring and a week later dies of a flesh eating virus.

And from what Bret wrote in his book, the kid was insanely athletic, like putting Olympic gymnasts to shame athletic.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Doesn't a young Shane get the shit slapped out of him by Elizabeth at Wrestlemania 8?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hey, maybe your accidents can be wrestlers?  I mean, they have a shitty father, no morals, and probably are going to be addicts!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is it sad that my first instinct was to create an all caps post telling OP that he's wrong and that Dominic is Eddie's son?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I mean, if it was a clumsy kid, it'd be somewhat tough to read, but a potentially good worker dying?  That's just horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh, be nice. He was just a little kid in front of millions of people. It's perfectly natural he wouldn't be the best actor.

Rey's daughter has mad skills, though. When Punk sang Happy Birthday to her...she emoted better than any of the divas could ever hope to.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't know if this being a weird question is a compliment or an insult. I just remembered those Richie Steamboat photos earlier today and thought it was fun.

Nice to see Scott has caught up on his inbox!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hahaha...nice.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Damn CrankyPhred, who gave you the bunk dope tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I watched Steamboat's WM IV match recently. When he brings out his son, Jesse says something like, "That kid's only TWO? That's the biggest two-year-old I've ever seen, Gorilla!" It wasn't a heel comment--it was a compliment. And it was...sweet.

I miss that stuff: The idea that a heel would still like a kid. "Boundaries" and all.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I actually don't smoke or drink anything, probably explains why I'm such a hateful bastard.

But, when I hear comments like "Oh man, it's such a shame that woman died, she was so young and beautiful", I get the implication that if an ugly broad died it wouldn't be as sad.  And that pisses me right off.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jesse was only a heel cause he hated Hogan and was a bit of a dick.  He wasn't Horseman "ambush and break your arm" heel.

    ReplyDelete
  28. When people die, it's a common social convention to point out something positive, or attractive about them.  This emphasizes the sadness of their passing.

It should generally not be read as a declaration that any other person not meeting that same positive attribute has less value in life, or in death.

"A couple of months old? He looks like a powerlifter!"

    ReplyDelete
  30. lolwat?

    Explain please sweetie.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Actually they haven't given a fuck about this idiocy in two months, hence my lack of posting.

I only post to try to get through the show. If they don't watch? I don't feel the need to beat my dick to a show I hate.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That is a HORRIBLE insult and you should immediately apologize.

To spade shovels. And to spades. And to shovels.

    ReplyDelete
  33. btw: just like Heenan who would condone heel actions if they would go "too far" (outside of anything Flair did, of course).

    ReplyDelete
  34. ... a kid's show that wraps up at 11pm.

It's supposed to be for all ages.  Remember when they announced the "cradle to grave" strategy?  While their execution of making good storylines for adults is questionable, it is in their stated business strategy.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ahh 11pm is nothing in that household.. chin is probably stretching em like stu hart used to do back in the day till 1 am at least!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dude the same thing bugs me! It's as if, in your hypothetical, someone is really saying: "It's too bad she died, I really wanted to bang her, or at least see her boobs." A human life is a human life damn it

    ReplyDelete
  37. John Cena is a role model, correct?  What morals does he exactly stand for?  Shit, shit and more shit.

And your kids are accidents btw.

    ReplyDelete
  38. she's a legit child actor, and Rey asked to do the angle to give her exposure.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Celebrate their life, not their death.

Why the fuck do we need to mourn some dead kid we don't even know the name of?  If he wasn't Bret's son would any of us know he died or give a shit?

I don't owe sympathy to celebrities.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, all humans are equal.

    Except for the Irish.

    ReplyDelete
  41. You should probably stay on your meds.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It ends at 8 here. What adult is watching this without children forcing them too?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm not trying to rag on the kid, more his parents for putting him on national television when he clearly wasn't prepared for it.

Having "masked man has a family" as an angle was kind of weird to begin with. Especially when Rey would talk to his wife and kids *IN* the mask.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Whew. You are just bursting with common sense these days!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm drug free, alcohol free and better than you.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I dig how the guy obsessed with being mature and an adult uses chat speak.
I'm attacking your kids for having a shitty dad who let's their moral code be defined by a bodybuilder who brutalizes his opponents.  And I"m attacking you for having an abusive dad who beat you.  It's okay, you can let it out.

You're on so much crack Marion Barry would tell you to put down the pipe.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm only 1/8th...

    I'm mostly English...papist fuck...

    ReplyDelete
  48. Obsessed? I'm not obsessed with anything. I just think cartoons are for kiddies. Like you. Isn't it about time you watched your Flintstones and got tucked in? Or is mommy out swallowing more cum to keep the lights on again? Poor little latchkey Phrederic!

I adore watching you make blind assumptions that mean nothing. You're not me. You can't do to me what I did to you. You're simply not smart enough.

Now come back with another lame line that you pulled out of your ass. I LOVE THIS. You flailing and thrashing and PRAYING for something to stick.

You want me to get angry SO BAD. It's palpable! But I won't, because you can't come even close to reality. You're just some immature little kid, I'm guessing...what...early 20's? People still use the word "potential" around you?

You never answered the question. Which brother do you call dad now? Or are you going to lie again and say you don't look up to your brother as a father figure (another embarrassing thing you had to admit after I guessed CORRECTLY)

    LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  49.  Who says Reid isn't following his dad into the business?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD-PQiVtbgc

    ReplyDelete
  50. You're not mad?

You responded to something I wrote in 30 seconds with six paragraphs.

You keep telling yourself you're not mad.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Awww...you didn't try to guess anything that time! I thought you were going to keep trying! Don't give up as easily as pops gave up on the marriage!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Guess?  You mean make absolutely true declarations over the internet about a guy I've never met.  My predictions are more reliable than your condoms Double-Chin.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Married people don't wear condoms sport. You'll find out ALL about it when you start getting laid.

I want you to keep guessing. I promise I'll be honest if you ever get anything right.

    Watching you flail is delicious.

    ReplyDelete
  54. 8pm is nothing in this household, you're right.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Man, I've really pissed you off.

So you're saying having four kids before you're 30 was planned?

You're such a terrible liar chin.

    ReplyDelete
  56. And another swing and a miss!

Who said I was younger than 30? Who said I had four kids? Hahaha.

You can't even get the number of kids right!

    LMAO

    Try again sport.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Posting in a conversation you have nothing to do with...yes...indeed you are Dan.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It's PG, so it's a kids show!!!

Classic Chin logic. Feel free to call me brave in response and not actually give any supportive arguments. Also, maybe throw in some personal attacks while you angrily try to figure out who I am so you can start trolling my actual account.
    Douchebag.

    ReplyDelete
  59. OHMAN, YOUDARETOARGUEONTHEINTERNETWITHTHEALMIGHTYCHIN?????

    ReplyDelete
  60. BRAVE reply there Chin. BRAVE.

    ReplyDelete
  61. You type LOL a lot. Probably so somebody, somewhere laughs at anything you say.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Also, what a BRAVE comment about his mother. BRAVE INDEED.

    Troll.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Boy, this REALLY does hammer home the point that you don't follow EVERYTHING I write!

    Caught again!

    ReplyDelete
  64. The company itself has said it doesn't want adults as fans. Feel free to argue WHAT THE COMPANY HAS ALREADY SAID.

They DON'T WANT YOU. But you'll still watch won't you? Because you're above it!

    Caught again!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I liked you better when you were attacking children like a coward. You were far more entertaining.

But hey, at least you're proving me 100% correct in that you're compelled to reply to EVERYTHING I write.

I wonder how many times you had to reply to me on your other account?

    I <3 this!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I've replied to about 100 of your 2,100 posts.

Clearly, I reply to EVERYTHING YOU WRITE.

Classic Chin, taking lies and opinions and passing them off as truth.

    HOW BRAVE OF HIM.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Chin makes an incorrectstatement and claims it's correct.

    WRONG AGAIN!

Also...BRAVE! Keep fighting on the internet Chin! One day dad will be proud!

    ReplyDelete
  68. And how many of those were in conversations that had anything to do with you? Maybe 10?

Attack a Child Guy is calling me brave? Right on! Attack A Child Guy knows the definition for sure! Attack A Child Guy isn't a troll, he just makes different accounts to...attack children.

    Hahahahaha.

You are way too fucking easy.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You realize you're fighting on the internet right?

YOU MADE A SPECIAL ACCOUNT JUST TO FIGHT ON THE INTERNET.

    Hahahahaha.

My favorite part is that you can't see that I've driven you to such anger that you're willing to not only make different accounts, but THEN USE THEM TO ATTACK CHILDREN!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I already explained, I make other accountsto avoid brave internet trolls like Chin.

As far as "conversations that had nothing to do with you"...it'sa blog where people discuss. Anyone can chime in on anything, like you do anytime some of the MANY, MANY people you've argued with speak.

Attack a guy whose father abandoned him and say his mom is a prostitute guy is sure mad!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Many, Many? Just you and Dan and Phred. That's all. Three (two) people on a board with how many posters?

You make other accounts to avoid me but then reply to everything I say. You're doing it wrong sport.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I like that you're on Team: Phred's Dad Ran Away though, Phred denies it but we know the truth, don't we?

    LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  73. You say I reply to everything you say when you've posted well over 2,000 times and I've replied to about 10% of them.

You're doing it wrong, sport. See ya later, Chin!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Run to your account now! Be sure not to Attack A Child on that one! Wouldn't want the blog to know who you really were!

Oooooooh....you know I just put that together. Of course you needed a new account! Attacking a child was embarrassing!!! Who wants to be known as That Guy?

    Hahaha, nice!

    ReplyDelete
  75. It worked in the sense that you bothered me. I have never denied your great ability at being an annoyance. But this conversation has made it clear you have not gotten any better over time. If anything, you're far worse. Continue ignoring others points and hurling insults, then accusing others of doing it.

It's a very brave approach to never take responsibility for anything. Very brave.

Gotta run, bye Chin! Enjoy trying to figure out who I am! I am 100% convinced you will spend time on it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. When did I insult you? I call you Attack A Child Guy because that's what you are. I didn't make you do that, that was your big "this'll get him!" moment.

You realize this second round started with you coming into the thread and insulting me right? I've been done with you since you ran off in July (to post on a different account and pretend you were vacationing)

You came back to ME. Not the other way around.

I don't give a shit who you are. I've been calling you a coward for months and you just admitted to hiding. What's not to love? I don't follow you, you follow me. Why would I care what your cowardly second account is?

I won. You HIDE from me.

Nothing more satisfying than that really.
