Monday Night Open Mic

I feel kind of bad that I'm completely lost in what's going on in the WWE right now.

It's not that the program is any more or less stale than it was a few months ago. Hell this Daniel Bryan/Kane stuff should have me watching, especially given the fact that Kane's involvement in the Punk-Bryan was generally not appreciated. It's always the things you don't expect that take off.

Anyway enjoy the show, come out swinging and keep 'em clean!

Comments

  1. Who would have ever thought that the NFL would have worse referees than WWE? I mean, wrestling referees intentionally look the wrong way and get in the way, cause it's part of the show.  These rec league goobers in the NFL are trying their best and would still manage to miss a steel chair shot on the qb at the 50 yard line.

  2. Here, I can catch you up pretty easily:

CM Punk wants RESPECT because he has been champion for over 300 days. John Cena will give him no respect because Punk only beat him twice and because the WWE didn't think CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan or Chris Jericho was main event-worthy like Cena vs. Big Show or Cena vs. Big Johnny or Cena vs. Kane. Natch.

Also, Dolph Ziggler loses a lot.

Sheamus is dominating to the thrill of no one except maybe HHH. ADR is positively Billy Gunn-esque right now.

Divas matches still end in roll ups.

    Just watch Impact.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hmm, so Bill Belichick is kind of like Bobby Heenan.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I post on Day One Patch frequently, and those guys eat this shit up like it's 1997 through 2000. Then again, most of those guys think AJ is the end all be all.

    ReplyDelete
  5. This is silly. Why are they making a big deal out of Cena winning a meaningless tag team match that will be followed by numerous reiterations of the same thing?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Opening Raw with a Heyman promo isn't a bad thing. It's...a GOOD thing.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Because the stips were if Cena won, he would get another title shot.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Not only that, but how many times has the "foot on the ropes" controversial finish happened this year alone? It can't just have been last week....

    ReplyDelete
  9. I hope this segment goes somewhere because it has been tedious up to this point.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think it would have been funny if the ref said "Mr. Brooks..."

    ReplyDelete
  11. Is this guy a FCW wrestler? Doesn't look like a ref.

    ReplyDelete
  12.  Ohhh. Good catch.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh good they're riffing on the NFL. How topical.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yes it's Brad Maddox of FCW fame.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That was predictable.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Is this going somewhere? What a boring and tedious segment.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm glad they figured out a new way to get to the Sports Entertainer vs. Authority Figure storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Cue music. Skip. Tilt head. Unnecessary pauses when talking. Tilt head. Cue music. Skip. Tilt head.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Just have Punk beat the shit out of AJ already.

Playing the woman beater card is one of the few things they haven't done yet and I'm sure they'd love to have Cena berate Punk and his fans for beating up a woman to re-enforce Cena's "superiority"....

    ReplyDelete
  20. Punk is wearing a Cro-Mags shirt. He's so cool. I wish more wrestlers felt comfortable enough to interject a little of their own personality into the show, because it makes me feel a kinship to them when we have that thing in common.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Haha, I like how Punk insinuating he had sex with AJ is supposed to make him a bad guy with this demographic.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Don't forget the weights and bibles.

    ReplyDelete
  23. As tiny as AJ is, she has nice legs..

    ReplyDelete
  24. As far as celeb couples go, Heyman & AJ is the equivalence of Randy & Evie Quaid in terms of relevance.

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's why Cena wears shorts: so he can appeal to morons and 10-year-olds.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That was a waste of fifteen minutes

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bye bye AJ as GM.....and damn does she have some nice legs...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Referee angles are always great!  Let's see more of this "Brad"

    ReplyDelete
  29. This is reaching new levels of terrible. I can't wait to see how much worse it can get!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Is AJ challening Jan Brady?

    ReplyDelete
  31. God AJ is just awful. Any appeal her character may have had at one time is just in the shitter now, she's just a really bad actress in an ugly pantsuit.

    ReplyDelete
  32. and time to go back to the game...the no talent whore is on...and Vicki

    ReplyDelete
  33. So will AJ get punished for going upside Paul Heyman's head?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Do the Razzies have a TV category?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jesus fucking Christ. I've never hated a wrestling personality more than AJ. She has me so close to never watching Raw again until she gets fired. Linda McMahon could act circles around her.

    ReplyDelete
  36. But she cocks her head!  THAT BITCH IS CRAZY!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Considering how much these two job, I'm predicting a no contest.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Be a star, Truth. Be a star!

    ReplyDelete
  39.  Still, if she ever needs a place to sit, there's always my face.

    ReplyDelete
  40.  Still love her.  Although I do realize I was in the majority three months ago but in the minority today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Could WWE make it any more obvious they're making fun of the NFL with this referee angle?

    ReplyDelete
  42.  And after seeing that, I stand corrected.

    ReplyDelete
  43. When his partner nearly died on live tv.

    ReplyDelete
  44. How many millions of dollars in merchandise, DVD, and PPV sales are they flushing down the toilet with this CM Punk heel turn?  It's been nearly two months now and he is still getting chants.  People still want to root for him but feel uncomfortable doing so.

    ReplyDelete
  45.  Hey, that was Kane's gimmick for his first 2 years.  And AJ is just as good as a wrestler...but never wrestles :(

    ReplyDelete
  46. DKR Animated...hmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm sorry but JGL will always be that little shit in Angels in the Outfield

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's beyond pathetic.  The New WWE:  The face = heel and heel = face.  Or something.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Maybe the NFL can counter by having Goddell faking a disasociative episode at halftime on MNF

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's fucking amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The pauses when she talks drives me crazy. It's just so unnatural and makes her sound like a shitty actress. I'm going to say my line. Then I'll stop. And prepare to say the next time. Okay, said that line. Focus. Now my next line. Now I'll wait for him to say his line. And now my line. And now I skip away.

    ReplyDelete
  52.  No love for 3rd Rock from the Sun?

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's wierd seeing him get a long with JR after everything that happened.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I like AJ. But I can still acknowledge that she is absolutely horrible in this role and making her GM was a huge mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Lithgow carried that shit

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hey, didn't the board reprimand AJ and tell her she was never to physically assault anyone on the show ever again?  Wonder if they are setting her up to be fired very soon...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Don't jinx it, WWE might notice and have him go back.

    ReplyDelete
  58. What is it with you and your woman beating fantasies???

    ReplyDelete
  59.  Damn right he did.  That's why Dexter Season 4 was a freakin masterpiece

    ReplyDelete
  60. I want Kofi to win just to see the internet explode.

    ReplyDelete
  61. You're just jealous that RAW gets over twice the ratings of Impact.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I will not be opposed to a CM Punk/AJ sextape blackmail angle.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Without terrible refs, you wouldn't have had that epic Detroit/Tennessee game yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  64. "BACK AND FORTH WE GO!"-Cole

    WWE Creative team's mission statement.

    ReplyDelete
  65.  Tonight's backstage promo was actually pretty good, though, I thought.  But yeah, get her back to messin with men's heads and wrestling again.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hey a rasslin' match!  Whattya know.

    ReplyDelete
  67. This is a hell of a match, and I don't like either guy.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Did JR buy a thesaurus while he was out?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Wow, as bad as the opening segment was that match between Kofi and Ziggler more than made up for it. Very good match.

    ReplyDelete
  70. That's why I said earlier bye bye to AJ as GM....unless they forgot they made that stipulation...

    ReplyDelete
  71. So why is that..."sos" not his finisher?

    ReplyDelete
  72. And everything since then has been shit...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Cena is injured????  WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN????????

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hey Cena, we can't miss you if you never LEAVE

    ReplyDelete
  75.  People I'm texting with, as well a myself, thought that opening segment was hilarious but to each his own.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I strongly disagree with your thoughts on the backstage segment.

    ReplyDelete
  77. He'll be back to squash the roster in no time. Kryptonians heal fast.

    ReplyDelete
  78.  He sure did. I catch the reruns a lot lately and he just steals the show. I love the episode where he learns about tipping.

    ReplyDelete
  79. With Beth leaving, AJ might be the second or third best wrestler out of the Divas, so of course they don't let her wrestle.

    ReplyDelete
  80. zig zag = worst finisher in the company...

    ReplyDelete
  81. If the stills they show are of AJ ONLY.....then I agree.

    ReplyDelete
  82. "That's not even grammatically correct"

    ReplyDelete
  83. Kane: Psychopath. Dentist. Waiter.

    ReplyDelete
  84. "Nobody ever robs restaurants. Why not?"

    ReplyDelete
  85. Bryan looking at his beard after Kane talked about dipping him in the deep fryer was pretty awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have to say, these Kane/Bryan segments rule the fucking earth. Kane looks like he is having the time of his life right now.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Pick the team name!

    Oh..they give us choices.

    Fart.

    ReplyDelete
  88. McMahon: "Who put that on the show!! I wanted more TALKING!!"

    ReplyDelete
  89. Kung Fu Panda is in Warcraft??

    ReplyDelete
  90.  I strongly agree with your disagreement.  She played a convincing irked, unstable, embarrassed borderline psychopath

    ReplyDelete
  91. So Punk, Ziggler, and Bryan in the first three segments... how can the rest of this show NOT be a letdown?

    ReplyDelete
  92.  Totally agree.  And he deserves it after playing the monster of the week for roughly 10 years

    ReplyDelete
  93. I can imagine the complaining that will occur if the PTP lose right now.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The Pandas have been in Warcraft since Warcaft III.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thank god they got those pictures of Jerry. Don't want anyone else getting the exclusive if he dies!

    ReplyDelete
  96. But I have extremely high hopes for this season, that trailer got me really excited.

Then again, so did Season 5's.

    ReplyDelete
  97. You lost me when you said convincing.

    ReplyDelete
  98.  They really need to start making these matches mean something.  They are entertaining but they don't play a part into long term angles (besides thrown together tag matches, I guess).  Almost every match needs to build to another wrinkle in a character or twist in an angle.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Every time Foley's music hits I think it's going to be Razor Ramon. Every. Time.

    ReplyDelete
  100. MICK FOLEY DOESN'T APPROVE OF CM PUNK. THEREFORE YOU SHOULD BOO HIM. BOO HIM GODDAMMIT.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Punk, Heyman, and Foley with mics. *grabs popcorn*

    ReplyDelete
  102. Hey, let's overexpose our champion in a bunch of pointless talking segments.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Great. Mick Foley. Remember what happened to the last guy that complained about Punk turning on the fans?

*Goes back to the "Mario Goes Beserk" thread.

    ReplyDelete
  104. The main event hoodie....smell the merchandise sales being wasted

    ReplyDelete
  105. ... i on occasion have worn jorts... :(

    ReplyDelete
  106. MICK FOLEY SENT THE TEXT!!! AND DROVE THE HUMMER!!

    ReplyDelete
  107. did mick just say there's no bout adout it?

    ReplyDelete
  108. CORNETTE quote

    ReplyDelete
  109. They've already had Bret Hart and Foley come out and say how bad Punk is.  Are they just going to trot out a different legend each week until people finally hate him?  Should we start a pool on who's next?

    ReplyDelete
  110. AJ is great! This role for her is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Never happen but could get behind a "Heyman corrupts punk, paul/brock costs Punk title at RR, Punk sends Brock packing to re-face" at Wrestlemania

    ReplyDelete
  112. It didn't help Al Snow or the BIg Bossman, Mick.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I don't care. He's so much more tolerable this way.

    ReplyDelete
  114. For all the crazy shit Mick's done, glad to see he still has his mind, but I'd swear he's gassed from this promo.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Mick Foley = Attempt #100 to turn CM Punk heel

    ReplyDelete
  116.  That was the Kennel From Hell. Entirely different gimmick match.

    ReplyDelete
  117. No one cares about the PTP's anymore. Just another wasted opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Such an awesome promo.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Damn Mick.  Nice.

    ReplyDelete
  120. "The day after that, it'll be 311..."

This heel turn is a Beautiful Disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  121. ....aren't the Divas that you put on their knees good enough for you, Punk?

    ReplyDelete
  122. I really miss this Mick, not the corny joke version but the one who could bring one hell of a dramatic promo.

    ReplyDelete
  123. He's Paul Heyman's evil(er) twin.

    ReplyDelete
  124. You want Punk to make the right decision...and that decision is to risk his life in a cage match against a dude he's beaten countless times?

    ReplyDelete
  125. This is so stupid. Did they ever consider that Punk isn't catching on as a heel because wanting respect isn't a bad thing?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Seriously, that's Foley's best promo in years. I didn't think he had any of those promos left in him.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Best promo I've heard all year.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Why didn't they lead of the show with this instead of that bullshit with AJ and the referee.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Because AJ is INTERESTING.

    ReplyDelete
  130.  Yeah, but you see, it's quite simple, it's not just about respect, it's the......hey, look over there........booing punk yet? Shit

    ReplyDelete
  131. I'd like a Punk/Brock vs. Cena HHH HIAC match. It would almost like a mini Wargames.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Because they're hoping the Foley promo pulls people away from MNF?

    ReplyDelete
  133. That was a compelling, interesting, riveting 10 minutes of Professional Wrestling.  Mick and Punk were both spot on there.  But I still can't stand Cena and still am 100% behind Punk.  Maybe next week Punk will have a sweet handlebar mustache he can twirl while delivering the GTS to a newborn baby?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Take note, Cena: You CAN put someone over without putting them down.

    ReplyDelete
  135. This could be a disaster. Miz is not the type of guy to make someone like The Ryback look good.

    ReplyDelete
  136. CM Punk = Buzzsaw from Demolition Man. He could punch a fan in the face and the fan would get up screaming "Buzzsaw TOUCHED me!!"

    ReplyDelete
  137. Ryback should give Miz nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Nice how Ryback popped up back on his feet from the force of the powerslam.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Feed me SMORES.

    ReplyDelete
  140.  That'd be a nice win for Ryback, if Miz wasn't a jobber.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Fan totally just ran in the ring haha

    ReplyDelete
  142. Ryback beating the IC champ might actually be impressive if they, you know, didn't job out the champ every week.

    ReplyDelete
  143. See kids, you too can main event Wrestlemania and never get another meaningful storyline because you didn't kiss the right ass backstage.

    ReplyDelete
  144. They really should have just given Ryback the title here. Why even bother with a rematch?

    ReplyDelete
  145. They need to pull the trigger of The Ryback right now. The Ryback vs Sheamus at the next PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Ryback would actually be MORE over if he had just won the belt. Remember when Goldberg beat Raven and The Flock but didn't get the U.S. title because he had to beat him three weeks later? Yeah, me neither.

    ReplyDelete
  147. They'll probablly do it at the PPV.

    ReplyDelete
  148.  They are really All Mixed Up with what direction they should take Punk in. I keep hoping they Don't Let Me Down Again, but they will.

    Amber.

    ReplyDelete
  149. A "When Harry Met Sally" reference? Jeez, WWE, don't hit us with such a modern reference!

    ReplyDelete
  150. I agree. In fact, he should probably beat him in 18 seconds. Not kidding, either.

    ReplyDelete
  151. They should bring out the Divas that he used to screw.

    ReplyDelete
  152. You see, they can't use instant replay because that would make sense and stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Barrett's music is too upbeat

    ReplyDelete
  154. They'd better not let Ricardo wrestle. He's gonna get over more than ADR and Otunga combined.

    ReplyDelete
  155. So they literally find out about their matches two minutes before?

    ReplyDelete
  156. Ok, I'll say it. I want to see The Ryback vs The Undertaker at WM. Streak vs Streak.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Remember when someone here thought Tyson Kidd was getting pushed? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  158. Oh no, more "We Want Nexus" chants. Don't encourage them!

    ReplyDelete
  159. Meltzer reported that it was discussed during MITB but nothing materialized. He should go to the X-Division, that is the only place he can thrive right now in the U.S.

    ReplyDelete
  160. The Souvenir? What a terrible name for a finisher.

    ReplyDelete
  161. This was a lot better than last week. At least Barrett's working stuff like the Bossman Slam back into his move set.

    ReplyDelete
  162. At the very least, Barrett's finisher should be a Roaring Elbow instead of that lame one.

    ReplyDelete
  163.  Nah, they like Ryback.  If they gave him the title then he'd have to start losing every match.

Wait, you mean give someone a secondary championship and have him win matches afterwards? What a crazy idea!!

    ReplyDelete
  164. Kinda interesting they are giving Barrett the KO elbow with Hero waiting in the wings.

    ReplyDelete
  165. So is this the "Big monster gives more than he should to little guys" push or the "We've already had 3 monster squash pushes this year so we're trying to be different"

    ReplyDelete
  166. She's the worst. But wow tommy maddox can give her a run for the money.

    ReplyDelete
  167. "Two weeks ago, my friend and partner..the guy who I humiliated and made fun of on a regular basis for two years straight had a heart attack...."

    ReplyDelete
  168. Liked for the Tommy Maddox reference.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Just started watching in dvr. Ugh @ the nfl blinders

    ReplyDelete
  170. Why do they insist on showing the damn pics of him going through CPR?  WTF

    ReplyDelete
  171. Yeah, I doubt anyone really worried one way or the other about Hero when they were deciding what Barrett's finisher should be.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Just say it, CM Punk gave you the heart attack...they've tried everything else

    ReplyDelete
  173. Wow how bad was that opener? Didn't go well

    ReplyDelete
  174. Michael: "Did you get to respond to New Jack's tweet, Jerry?"

    ReplyDelete
  175. BRB. Bribing doctors to tell Jerry Lawler he can never commentate again.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Love him or hate him, it's great to see Jerry sitting there smiling. Get well, King.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Nice to see The King up and running.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Here comes the Punk run in

    ReplyDelete
  179. Otunga may be the worst wrestler since Brakus.

    ReplyDelete
