Paul Heyman Guys?

http://shop.wwe.com/I'm-a-Paul-Heyman-Guy-T-Shirt/W04619,default,pd.html?dwvar_W04619_color=Black&start=1&cgid=New&srule=Staff_Picks

Maybe everyone should buy this now before Heyman gets himself fired again.  This would be a REALLY hard shirt to explain to casual friends, but I'm VERY tempted.

Comments

  1. I wouldn't wear the shirt, but I would totally buy a Paul Heyman guy bumper sticker.

  2. The fact that they'd even make a shirt like this makes me think that there's a "Paul Heyman guy" fairly high up in the company.

  3. Threadjack for David Shoemaker's latest column at Grantland. It might be a tad optimistic but it's really good.

  4. "The Voice of the Voice of the Voiceless" made me chuckle.

  5. The only reason there is a Paul Heyman shirt is because they think they can make a buck off it. No other reason than that.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'd buy that shirt and wear it at every press event I'm at.

    ReplyDelete
  7. It is good. I'm glad he mentioned the backlash against Tyler Black, who I recall fans grumbling about during his RoH run.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I must admit that Jeff Hardy + CM Punk = Seth Rollins seems like a perfect comp. So unfair to Rollins though.

    ReplyDelete
  9. No one will ever wear this shirt. Ever.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I LOL'd at the biggest size available being only 2X when that won't fit 90% of the people who would buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. That shirt is horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  12. a year or so ago they wouldn't even put Zach Ryder on TV, but they gave him a t-shirt

  13. How does this put the heat on Punk? Kinda like when nobody cared about Barbarian, but wanted to see Bobby Heenan get murdered. Not comparing Punk's abilities to Barbarian of course, just that the heel manager thing works better if it puts heat on the champ, not himself.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think you're taking this a little too seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's what I meant. =) I can't see a way that this shirt makes money, so I assume someone high up at the company thinks highly of Paul to assume that it would.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I actually think they've done a superb job of keeping the heat and the focus on Punk. Heyman is amazing on the mic and at drawing heat so it woudn't be too hard for him to "take over" if you will, but it hasn't happened. The focus has always gone to Punk.

    ReplyDelete
  17. About as seriously as I take anything wrestling at this point. Not something I particular care about, just an interesting marketing approach to Paul

  18. ROTFL.

"Best-case projection: CM Punk meets Jeff Hardy

Worst-case projection: CM Punk meets Jeff Hardy as imagined by a 13-year-old girl"

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yeah, it's actually a testament to how great a manager he is that he's able to reign in his charisma and keep everything about Punk. Relegating so much of his job to simply holding up Punk's title belt was a stroke of genius.

  20. Beeeeeest comment ever.

  21. Eh it doesn't take much to convince them to print up a few shirts of someone, they don't cost them much to make or anything. Back in the Attitude days everyone had shirts if you looked online or in WWF Magazine: Kaientai, Tazz, Sexual Chocolate, even Steve Blackman.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If I had it all to do over again, I think my username on this blog would be "Pretty Fly For a Heyman Guy".

    ReplyDelete
  23. This shirt was probably made in five minutes...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Fifty Shades of Straight-Edge?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Raw viewership was not good. I figured something was up because Seth Mates is freaking out on Twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's meant to sell t-shirts. That is all.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Heyman sucks. He couldn't even come through on the balloons!

    ReplyDelete
  28. What's weird is that most of the other shirts go up bigger than that. I remember making a similar comment when I first noticed that-how at least the WWE knew their target audience when it comes to merch.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So that explains the honking all over I-95...

    ReplyDelete
  30. I kind of wonder if that's going to be the informal name for this new stable--Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns. It has that cool connotation of these guys all having indie cred while not quite suiting the mold of the prototypical WWE star. Except Reigns. He seems kind of shoe-horned in, although I admit I have seen enough of him to justify that impression.

  31. THREADJACK (maybe):

Linda McMahon's campaign seems to be pulling a Paul Heyman: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/11/20/linda-mcmahon-campaign-worker-i-got-condom-and-bad-check/

    ReplyDelete
  32. That's about the sort of class I expect from the McMahon family. Don't be surprised of the condom thing leads to some sort of sexual harassment lawsuit too. I'm even more glad she lost now too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. A 2.72? Actually, I think that's pretty good by their recent standards.

    ReplyDelete
  34. There are enough fan boys who would buy it. I doubt it costs all that much money to produce that shirt, so you'd only need a few hundred buys to recoup costs.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I was totally serious and not just having a random shitty Offspring song in my head while watching Raw last night, honest.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Am I the only one turned off of buying WWE shirts mainly because of the stupid WWE tag on the bottom of the shirt? I bought the CM Punk Nexus shirt because A) it doesn't look like a wrestling shirt and B) there's no WWE logo on it. I'd buy some of the Dolph Ziggler shirts for when I feel like looking like a douchebag at a bar but they too have that stupid WWE Authentic tag

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wish I still had that Kaientai shirt...I think it was the last wrestling t-shirt I ever bought....

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lol @ pulling a heyman

    ReplyDelete
  39. just take a look at this interview:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/tech/post/_/id/2623/paul-heyman-talks-wwe-13-cm-punk

I love that Heyman is doing his best to put over the guys he is working with in the biggest way all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, say what you will about Paul Heyman but he knows how to put guys OVER. Oh I long for the alternative universe where he got the booking reigns but not the business reigns in TNA...

    ReplyDelete
  41. "Give it to me Paul E." AHA AHA "Give it to me Paul E." AHA AHA

Well, that's made me feel annoyed and shameful.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Who would have predicted at the start of the year that WWE would be selling Paul Heyman t-shirts...

    ReplyDelete
  43. "The PHG's" would be a pretty good name.
