Comment of the Day
JohnPetuka had me until the final line:
Trish Stratus gets a "then sure, why not?" From eye candy and awkward on the mic to the most complete female performer the company has ever had, Trish earned everyone's respect. By her last couple of years, she was no longer in any demeaning bra and panty matches even if they were still commonplace at the time. She had integrity. She had talent. She may be the only female wrestler that broke the 3-star barrier multiple times in WWE (matches with Lita, Mickey, and Jazz come to mind). Outside of the ring, she upped her game as well. She had chemistry with a few of the wrestlers in backstage segments and the words "Evil Trish" bring a smile to every fan's face.
Lastly, she was quite possibly the only woman on this planet to get people to side with a team that had Snooki on it.
It's more like "thank you" or "it's about time" than "why not." She's more deserving of this than Sunny ever was.
PS - I think she looks even hotter without the implants and bleach these days

On This Day...
The 'Biggest Little Man' Rey Mysterio Jr (yeh, I said it!) won the Royal Rumble match after eliminating Randy Orton. Kurt Angle also defeated Mark Henry to retain the World Title. (2006)
WrestleReunion took place with the main event of Jeff Jarrett Vs. Tully Blanchard. America's Most Wanted also took on The Funks which resulted in a DQ win for AMW. (2005)

  1. So Derren Young is in the running for the IC title but not Titus O'Neil? I'll tell you why that is.... Titus is getting the SUPER PUSH!

Yeah, I agree with John. She's so much hotter these days. I mean, don't get me wrong, she's always been an absolute 10, but now she's a 10 who's holding a steak.

  3. Agreed on Trish completely. The best North American women's wrestler of the modern era and a total package of looks, charisma and skill.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 3 faces and 5 heels in a tourney to fight a heel champion? What gives?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I have a feeling Darren Young was only placed in the tournament to get replaced by Bo Dallas. It seems like Darren got injured during the Royal Rumble. Noticed that Titus O'Neill, not Darren Young, took the brunt of the damage by Ryback during the Make Me Laugh segment last night.

  6. I definitely put her on the same level as Sherri and Madusa. Trish came up in a time where women's wrestling was a complete joke, good for only bra-and-panty matches and bikini contests. Trish led it back to being about actual wrestling (with help from Victoria, Molly, Jazz, and Mickie).

Of course now we're in the era of women who have zero business in the ring. If ever there was a perfect group for T&A matches, it's this one.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Antonio Cesaro as a possible double champion? I can dig it!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Why do I find it funny that Vince suffered a broken pelvis?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Brilliant heel work from Punk last night. Loved the 'fit my schedule' stuff. And, yeah, the Rumble match was disappointing, but I'm more than happy to give it another shot.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Amazing that Mark Henry went from Hardcore Holly level of threat to the title to being legit 6 years later. Just insane.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Why I will always love the Rock more than just about anybody in wrestling: http://ryehww.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pSj7qAKmQf7zvwiWGWLY31U8Mg-7KVTOMETrZ4RYvdNVsc-opjNDuunZGigRVCKxM3SgWJw4P_TY/RockSell.gif?psid=1

  12. Darn it, I won comment of the day. While some have fought and politicked their way to main event status and glory, I've always prided myself on being the Tyson Kidd or Primo of the blog--good but unnoticed. Dr. Selby is threatening my position here. (Obviously, this paragraph is not meant to be taken seriously).

As far as my last line goes (alluded to in the original post), skip to Caliber's comment in this comment section as it mirrors my own thoughts.

  13. I noticed that live, too. Maybe people found it comical. However, I felt like he sold it like a real knockout blow instead of snapping his back/shoulders to the canvas right away OR trying to fall forward/to his side to break the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The '06 Rumble is one of the worst. Rey and HHH spent most of their time in the corner taking a nap.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Agreed. As someone who's not much into blondes or implants, Yoga Trish is definitely hotter.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "I'm a punkass bitch because swearing is COOL!" was the best line of the night

    ReplyDelete
  17. It was a beautiful sell on any level. You could take it as a comical pratfall, which is great, but being a huge MMA fan, it looked much more like how a high kick knockout might look. I've seen dozens of "delayed reaction" KOs, moreso than the usual pro wrestling high kick sell.

Rock's was wonderfully overdramatic, but also more accurate. Tremendous stuff from my favorite seller of impact moves ever.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm going on a limb and saying Randy Orton is not winning the Cup.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Punk as the rebel with a cause is always great. He can always find ways to be angry, but when he's got a reason he's better than anyone else in the world. Way outclassed Rock last night, I thought.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Surprised Orton is in the IC tourney. Why use such an established name? Why not Sin Cara or Ryder or McIntyre? Not that I am a big fan of any of those guys, but at least give somebody else a chance to have a decent match that matters on tv. Why not Big E? He has to have a match at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Am I the only one slightly annoyed that Vince had the power to even fire Heyman? I always thought he was brought in, or hired if you will, by Brock as his personal counselor/spokesman and Punk retained him in the same capacity. It's not in Vince's power, even as the chairman, to fire a wrestlers attorney, accountant, agent or manager. That power solely lies on the wrestler (see mr.wonderful v. Heenan) or the manager has the same writes to terminate a contract. Vince should only have the power to revoke ringside access but the agent can consult with his or her client anywhere in the locker room area.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I know. Someone brought this up last night, but It's amazing how after four weeks, Punk and Rock have made their rivalry feel like they've been bitter rivals for years. Actual, genuine vitriol between them. After a month! It took Cena a year and he never had anything real to show.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And lets not forget Ivory. Who I feel often gets overlooked in these discussions.

    ReplyDelete
  24. They might...I mean might....be trying to bring legitimacy to the belts?

    ReplyDelete
  25. "I never thought I'd die this way...but I'd always really hoped."

    ReplyDelete
  26. With maybe the exception of Rosa, I don't have much desire to see them in T&A matches either.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They need to give Wade a signature PPV win. He's never been allowed to beat one of the top guys. Orton would qualify (yes, I know Wade pinned him clean on Raw a few weeks ago ... I'm talking PPV).

    ReplyDelete
  28. AJ for me. AJ is the only current Diva I have any time for.

    ReplyDelete
  29. when her shirt got pulled up on raw a couple weeks ago...homina homina

    ReplyDelete
  30. ditto. that body...hell, Layla's body. damn.

    ReplyDelete
  31. except the stunner. c'mon, it's ridiculous!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ah yes her also. I tend to not think of her as one of the Divas

    ReplyDelete
  33. which is, I think, quite the compliment.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not as big of a compliment as "I would allow her to fuck me"

    ReplyDelete
  35. http://www.wwe.com/videos/lita-vs-ivory-smackdown-september-13-2001-26050822 I refer you to the video tape. I'm not saying she's Ricky Steamboat here, but compared to today's "talent" she was amazing, and she's holding her own very well with Lita here.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I've said this before but...I thought about it. In most instances with contracted employees, (the wrestlers) The General contractor (WWE) actually DOES have the ability to terminate any lower tier subcontracted employees (Heyman). This can be for any number of reasons but usually it would be stipulated in in the contracted employee's (CM Punk) contract. Usually if there's evidence of law breaking etc.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ain't nobody got time for that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Apparently ratings jumped now that punk isn't the champ. Who could've predicted that?

    ReplyDelete
  39. 8.2, lack of originality. Should have went for the "Chris Jericho returned" bait.

    ReplyDelete
  40. If Antonio Cesaro is in the International Cup, does that officially place the US Title lower on the title totem pole than the IC TItle?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I actually like Orton being in the IC title cup. An established guy who they aren't doing anything with anyways, so why not put a big name into the IC title cup. Puts some more prestige into the title.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Technically, they have been going at it for years...from Rock's "BM Punk" opening salvo, to "Dwayne's a pretty good ass-kisser", this feud has been building for a couple of years now!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Quite the opposite for me. Anytime AJ is on the screen I cringe.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You should see Dolph Ziggler sell the stunner. He takes it then hits a backflip.

    ReplyDelete
  45. thats because she's an ugly whore

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm sorry people don't want to watch your boyfriend.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Everyone wants to watch Chris Jericho, just look at the reaction he got at the Rumble!

    ReplyDelete
  48. It already was. The Intercontinental Title represents North America and South America, the US Title only represents the United States.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Look at all of the military bases:
