HHH/Brock II

Now that it looks like we're getting HHH/Brock II at Wrestlemania, I'd like to know your opinion behind the reasoning for this match. While the prospect of Rock/Cena II has raised the ire of many a smark, I guess it is palatable in the sense that it will make shitloads of money (again) and they did have an entertaining match last year. In your opinion, when it comes to booking HHH/Brock II at Mania, what is the reasoning behind it? Their program in the summer as far as I know didn't exactly set the world on fire and their match was forgettable. Do you think it's possible that the only reason we're getting HHH/Brock II is purely for HHH to be involved in a match with the infamous Brock Lesnar, sharing a double billing with movie star The Rock Vs John Cena, at an event that could turn out to be the highest grossing PPV of all time?

Hey man, HHH and Brock have to eat too.  HHH has three kids to support!  And Shawn Michaels!  You want to take the food right out of his babies' mouths?   DO YOU? And Shawn needs hair restoration, that shit ain't cheap!

  1. Rumor is that Taker might not be able to go for WM. Damn.

  2. The only reason it is being booked is to satiate the blood lust of Brock Lesnar. It is a peace offering from Vince McMahon so that Brock Lesnar doesn't kill them all. Brock will break HHH's arm in 30 seconds. Then he will proceed to rip off HHH's head and use his skull as a pimp chalice. Every male in attendance will then toss their wives, mothers, girlfriends, sisters into the ring to spare themselves a similar fate.

  3. There's nothing wrong with the story of the match. Brock broke HHH physically and mentally. Basically retired him. Now Brock comes back and injures his father in law a 67 year old man so HHH has to summon his strength back and do it for himself, his family and all the fans. Look wrestling isn't ever going to be Shakespeare but all things considered it's a pretty good story.

The only reason we don't want to see it is
    1) People don't like HHH

    2) People like Brock
    3) The first match sucked
    4) The first match REALLY sucked compared to Cena/Brock which may have been MOTY to some people
    5) This match won't be much better

But I mean as far as reasons to have a wrestling match, they've created a pretty good one. The entire point of HHH jobbing at Summerslam was to set up the rematch at Wrestlemania. We don't have to like it we just have to accept it.

  4. The greatness of Triple H is that he has a "plausible" business rationale for every bad decision he's ever made, even inserting himself into the Summer of Punk and ruining the hottest angle the business had in years.

Plausible just means he comes up with an explanation that connects points A & B, not that it isn't complete and utter horseshit.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Really though, from a business standpoint there's no sense in Brock jobbing here. Brock is staying, HHH is leaving again, so Brock might as well win again to stay strong. This isn't Cena where HHH is going back on the road as their top guy.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Brock must PAY for injuring a guy whose power was stripped completely, yet publicly fires a guy who doesn't work for the company.

Heyman should've said, "i don't even really work here."

    ReplyDelete
  7. "1) People don't like HHH"
    Correct.
    "2) People like Brock"
I would have used the phrase "fearful devotion" but correct.
    "3) The first match sucked"
    HEATHEN!
"4) The first match REALLY sucked compared to Cena/Brock which may have been MOTY to some people"
I don't appreciate your tone sir. Destroying civilizations are always awesome. Some just more than most.
"5) This match won't be much better"

BLASPHEMER! You will be in awe as a victorious Brock Lesnar points to the WrestleMania sign, bathed in the blood of the infidel known as HHH!

    ReplyDelete
  8. No, the rumor is he's facing MIZ.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So, they'll obviously do a home invasion angle since they seem to copying Orton/HHH.

The question is, do they pay an actress to play Brock's wife? Or do they actually acknowledge the fact that he's married to Sable.

    ReplyDelete
  10. NO WAY Brock is going over HHH twice. He no sold the pedigree. Shit got real.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Depends on the contract. If he is going to be working a normalish schedule, they'll put the title on him yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Viking Space Lord Brock Lesnar takes no wives. Only mouth slaves.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Not according to PWI. They reported today that there is a program written for Taker and Punk, but that it's contingent on Taker being medically cleared.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm gonna keep pushing the bandwagon that we get some kind of big tag match here rather than a straight singles match. Lesnar/Shield vs HHH and his gang of Avengers would accomplish so much more than a straight one on one: It allows HHH to win without actually jobbing Brock; it covers up HHH's obvious in ring deficiencies; it would let a new star get a huge rub (say Ryback beats Roman Reigns for the winning fall); and it allows them to spin off lots of post-Mania feuds.

Based on the build-up, I don't think it's that ludicrous— they're basically building a whole Heyman guys vs Vince guys gang warfare story, and the Shield has been built so strong that you would think they have to be doing something huge at Mania, so...yeah, a 4x4 War Games-style match could solve a lot of problems here, and it would satiate a lot of those fans who might have otherwise tuned out a RematchMania. Hopefully that's where they're going.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Don't you mean a "THIS BUSINESS!" decision?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm expecting Brock to show up at Triple H and Steph's house, And possibly eat one of their children.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Okay, I really want to see that Team Hs vs. Team Heyman Guys War Games match now. I mean, "bring back War Games" is the default idea around here for improving WWE, but this is one of the better uses of it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What do you mean "one"?

    ReplyDelete
  19. And, not to get too nerdy, but the idea of Triple H's team being the Avengers make me immediately assign Ryback as the Hulk. So now I'm just going to assume that when he's off camera, he's a brilliant scientist.

    ReplyDelete
  20. If the world were to end tomorrow, Brock Lesnar would have beat Triple H in their one and only one on one encounter. I think HHH even backed down and showed fear towards him at one point in 2002. Years down the road when explorers discover the lost planet Earth, they'll see the WWE record book and assume that Brock Lesnar was the better wrestler than Triple H.

    That's why Wrestlemania is happening.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah, I mean I think you hear "bring back War Games" a lot simply because we all love War Games. But to me, this is the rare time when it makes 100% storyline sense. You basically have this unstoppable gang that is begging for a team of heroes to stomp them out. This is the kind of build that War Games was made for.

And also, there's no need to do the whole double ring set-up. Just put them all in a Cell, call it Hell Games or something Vince-approved, and bam, just like that they've got a second match that could legitimately affect the buyrate. Plus, again, it makes complete storyline sense so far. It's not like there needs to be any complications to get there. Triple H makes his return, says he's assembled a team to get his back— one by one you have Sheamus, Ryback and Orton come out. That would be over HUGE, and make Ryback and Sheamus look like top stars. They could even play up how Sheamus and Orton have both feuded with Trips, and make it seem like one of them might possibly turn on him.

Just allows for so many more possibilities (and gets so many more people over) than Lesnar-HHH straight up.

    ReplyDelete
  22. HAHAHHAHAHA.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Holy shit, I literally laughed out loud on that one. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Medically cleared from what? He hasn't wrestled in an entire year! What is he, out jet skiing every week or something?

    ReplyDelete
  25. You haven't read the REAL source.

It's all playing out before our very eyes. First, he gets the figure four from Flair. Then, he's going to get bestowed the honor of using the WMD from Big Show and whatever the hell Tensai's finisher is. Then, he sits down with Kane and learns the chokeslam. Following that, Orton will show him the RKO, while Mark Henry teaches him the World's Strongest Slam. Then, the mother load, he goes to DX.

And they teach him the Sweet Chin Music/Pedigree combo. That's right. Miz will hit Sweet Chin Music, and then immediately hit the Pedigree.

    Book it.

(for the record, I'm mocking the ludicrous assertion that someone here made that claimed the Miz would be facing Taker at Wrestlemania)

    ReplyDelete
  26. lol. I didn't see the original comment so I was completely confused what the hell you were talking about. And I think your idea actually has serious potential...as a comedy angle. Santino trying mightily to finally beat 3MB by using other people's finishers, or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Considering the end of their SummerSlam match... where Triple H sulked off to the back to garner sympathy from the crowd and was met with a large chorus of boo's... I'm surprised to think WWE thinks the crowd would react differently.

  30. See, now there's a match I'd buy WM for. And I'd add Punk to the Heyman side, though I'm not sure who I'd slot in as the 5th guy for the HHH team. Shawn would be the obvious choice, but I don't see him coming back for that, and I couldn't blame him. Kevin Nash, maybe? His punchy-kicky moveset would work fine in that situation. Or just have The Shield jump another face. Del Rio if the Zig man cashes in? Bryan, if they don't do the match with Kane? Having only 1 ring wouldn't be a problem, WWE rings are quite a bit bigger than the old WCW rings were, and putting it in the cell will give them even more room to work with.

  31. It seems that a lot of the bloggers here like to give definitive answers to these emails and questions sent to Scott that pertain to events yet to happen, but are usually wrong. I mean the predictions on here to things they guarantee to happen are about 10% right.. pretty amusing

    ReplyDelete
  32. Been saying that for a while. Shield and Lesnar (and Punk if Taker can't go) vs. Trips, Sheamus, Orton, Ryback is the way to go. Then you can turn Orton heel, set up Sheamus vs. Orton or Orton vs. Cena. Shield have a marquee match where they are in there with huge stars. Puts new guys over. So naturally we'll get Brock vs. Triple H.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I posted a Wargames scenario a few weeks ago, having Trip/Bryan/Kane/Ryback/Taker vs Punk/Brock/Shield. Having Taker in the match would add the intrigue over whether or not the Streak could end without him being involved in the finish.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I tweeted Kevin Nash, asking when Shawn would buzz his head. I got no response.

And yeah, that shit ain't cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Segment of Miz learning the Bossman Slam is going to be mighty awkward.

    ReplyDelete
  36. "We know. That's what makes this so difficult for us."

  37. What about implants?

  38. He'll just borrow a flap jacket from the Shield for that one.

He'll also take a course in DDP Yoga with Jake Roberts, be accompanied to the ring for the match by Tamina Snuka, daughter of Jimmy Snuka, borrow chloroform from Giant Gonzales, be gifted the Spear by Edge, learn how to properly thumbs down by Batista, fist pound the fans by Sid, and how to be noticed at airports by Kevin Nash.

But none of it will matter, because what he learns from King Kong Bundy will be his ultimate downfall:

    He'll constantly demand five counts.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Am I the only one thinking that Brock wins, leading to Cena/Brock at Summerslam (since it's one of their BIG PPVs)?

HHH DOES seem to see the business side, and building up an EEEEEVIL Brock gives Cena someone that SHOULD be sooooo bad that the 'WWE Universe' HAS to cheer for Cena (because once Rock goes away after WM, what faces are left?).

But if Brock DOES beat HHH this year at WM, I'm betting everything I own that HHH/Brock 3 happens next year, and Brock eats a Pedigree so slow that Booker T will be yelling at him to get up.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'd love using an Ortin turn as a misdirection, make it 5x5 with Punk if no Taker and Kofi on the face side. Everyone suspects the Orton turn, so the Kofi turn is the shocker. Or better yet, Orton turns but it doesn't get the immediate win, then Kofi ALSO turns to make it 7 on 3 and our valiant heroes go down.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Trips cut his hair and lost all his strength. He's jobbing.

    ReplyDelete
  42. That was funny Triple H walking back :YOU TAPPED OUT YOU TAPPED OUT, classic. Triple H was possibly the best heel ever in the company, why they don't utilize him in that role I will never know.

    ReplyDelete
  43. What do you mean "mean"?

    ReplyDelete
  44. If this doesn't get "Comment of the Day," the process is rigged.

    ReplyDelete
  45. "Three kids to support...and Shawn Michaels!" That, ladies and gentlemen, is why I read this blog. You won't find quality like that on 411mania, let me tell you(except for J.D. Dunn).

    ReplyDelete
  46. I dig it! Or perhaps just run the singles match at WM and save that WarGames match for Extreme Rules main event?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yeah, it's not just that WarGames is an awesome match concept and, when used correctly, can yield great results. It's that it makes a TON of sense given the current storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes! And NYC could be even worse. If nothing else, the crowd will make the main WM matches interesting for sure
