Fantasy Baseball League of DOOM! plug

'Tis I, DSM, YOUR 2012 Fantasy Football League of Doom! World Heavyweight Champion of the World, hoping I can get a plug for a fantasy baseball league...OF DOOM!

Since I'm a pretty competitive fellow when it comes to these things, I'm hoping I can find nine others here who will play with the same drive, i,e. people who will show up for the online draft and won't give up if they're doing bad out of the gate. Here's the league settings for anyone who wants to join:

-10 team league, head-to-head weekly matchups (like in Fuj's FFLoD league)

-Head-to-Head weekly matchups done in Every Category fashion (you get a W, L, or D for each category every week, basic 5x5 stats) with a 7-acquisition limit each week.

-AUCTION draft (this is the true test of GM skills, plus I like everyone having a shot at anyone they want; please join only if you're down for this); draft tentatively scheduled for Sat, 3/30 at 7pm ET unless there's a better time that works for most

--23-player rosters: a starting lineup consisting of a C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF spots, and 2 UTIL players, 2 SP, 2 RP, 4 Pitcher spots, plus 5 bench slots, and 2 DL slots. Yes, we have DL slots; suck it Fuj!

-4 playoff teams after 20 weeks of play; playoffs will be held in a 2-week/matchup format.

Anyone who wishes to play can drop me an e-mail so I can give them an invite, just send a line to batista_thumbs_up@yahoo.com

Yes, that is my actual e-mail handle, named after Batista's refusal to hug Eugene and offering him a can-do salute instead.

  10. FUCK YOU!

seriously, im thinking of doing yahoo this year, otherwise FFLoD2:JOBBERS will be on ESPN again.

  11. espn is cool as shit for fantasy. very easy to learn. been using ESPN for years.

And i feel DSM will be a great GM for FBLoD.

(being put over by me does mean something Phrederic, you meanie.)

  12. Fuj, please take the FFLoD to Yahoo! It's so much nicer over there.

  13. in 1999-2003 he was a safe second pick right after bonds.. sub 2 era 300 ks each year nearly 20 wins to boot.

    ReplyDelete
  14. yea make it normal draft n on yahoo and im in.

    ReplyDelete
  15. its not so much nicer, its ok.

but ill let the league decide once i get 16 commits.

    until then, its FBLoD time.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, let's agree on the subjectivity of "nice". "Nice" for me much of the time comes down to ease of use.

  17. He was kinda terrible in 2003, but from 99-02, he was probably the second best pitcher in baseball behind Pedro. Those seasons were also his 35-38 years, which is fucking insane. Surprised nobody ever brings him up in PED talk.

  18. I use Yahoo more only because my friends use it more, but I don't see what's so much nicer about it. I've used both ESPN and Yahoo a lot, and I really don't see much of a difference besides the look. I've definitely never found ESPN to be difficult to use, and while it's usually okay, the only issues I've ever had with fantasy were all on Yahoo.

  19. Out of curiosity (not knocking at all, just curious as I see others saying it too), what do you find difficult to use about ESPN? I find them both to be pretty easy to use, myself, but a lot of people seem to have issues with ESPN and I've never really been clear on why.

  20. yea i dodnt check the #s was kinda goin off memory, 03 was his first year with yanks right?? but he did win 3 straight cys and it wasnt even close.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 03 was his last year with the D-Backs.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He was amazing in 04 and should have won the Cy Young

    ReplyDelete
  23. He was good in 04, I wouldn't call it amazing though.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Keep it on ESPN, Yahoo is a pile of garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Auction drafts are so damn long, they make Raw feel like a half hour show....

    ReplyDelete
  26. To any late comers to this topic, I have expanded the league to 12 (which is the max I'll go to, otherwise, we'll start diluting the rosters with fringe players), but there's still one spot open at the time I'm writing this, 6pm Sunday, so feel free to ask for an invite if you're interested. And if the space fills up, I'll still keep any leftovers in mind in case anyone drops out this week before Saturday.

  27. Will there be one for hockey next year? I'd join that (and finish last most likely).

    ReplyDelete
  28. Do you post on Deadspin with the same handle as your email?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yep, that's me too =) I don't post as often as I used to since they got rid of the star system and goddamn does Kinja suck for commenting.
