So after a hiatus, the Daily Round-Up is back.
First and foremost, thank you to those that have asked about the Daily Round-Up's whereabouts. It's mainly because of that that i've decided to restart this feature.
Secondly, as Scott mentioned on his 'Facebook of Doom' post, BOD now has a Facebook page, where you can still get your BOD updates when you're on Facebook, which many of you probably check more regularly than the blog itself.
Scott and I have also discussed the idea of posting tidbits on the Facebook page which may not necessarily make it on to the blog (you have a lot more freedom on Facebook as far as images/tidbits go).
So, with that being said, I suggest giving the Facebook page a 'Like' and joining in the discussion, and accessing content that is EXCLUSIVE to Facebook.com users!!! (The Cole in my head is taking over..)

Comment of the Day
Worst_in_the_World is a walking continent of common sense:
On This Day...
Paul Bearer is born. Bearer would pass away only recently, and be remembered as the Undertaker's long-time manager, as well as Mankind, and Kane. He would be remembered in the Undertaker/CM Punk angle leading up to this year's Wrestlemania. Below is one of my favourite Bearer/Taker moments - his 2004 return as the Dead Man. (1954)

To be honest, as a long time reader first time poster, I did not miss this at all. I thought the BOD round up was more of a nuisance than anything else. It felt like these daily rounds up were clogging up the blog everyday with meaningless news stories. That just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI assume this was a troll. Try to be more amusing or over the top next time. If you're not ready to work a BoD Main Event Posting Style, then you're going to get jobbed out to The Fuj and sent back to post on the indy blogs.
ReplyDeleteit's not Harford to just not click on it...
ReplyDeleteHappy to have this back, makes for good discussion in the comments
ReplyDeleteAn opinion you don't agree with? Must be a troll.
ReplyDeleteComment of the Day should just be named Smarkest Comment of the Day. And continant? For realz?
ReplyDeleteoh Dougie how we missed you
ReplyDeleteNot really, the daily round-up was just a great place to BS in limited characters about the general news of the day. As Kyle said, it was more about the comment section than the "meaningless news stories" which spawn the conversation topics.
ReplyDeleteAgain, your opinion differs? Troll!
ReplyDeleteEncouraging discussion to migrate to FB is a baaad idea. What about the people who don't use or conform to the irrelevancy of social networking?
ReplyDeleteThe blog's staying put, guys. I totally get it.
ReplyDeleteWhat i'm saying is, there might be some BONUS stuff on the Facebook page, and there's many here (and of course, many who don't) who use Facebook. It just means they can keep up to date with the blog through Facebook if they'd like to.
Stupid cars! Stop scaring my horse!
ReplyDelete'Walking continent of common sense' is a term I stole from Brass Eye, a UK mockumentary by Chris Morris.
ReplyDeleteDon't have to read, buddy.
ReplyDeleteNo one's forcing you. It's a link, not a necessity.
not to mention we can't keep track of the number of posts!! I worked hard to earn this spot in the mid card Damn it
ReplyDeleteWhere did you steal walking continant of common sense from?
ReplyDeletenot Cracked, Caliber didn't post it.
ReplyDeleteErm, I did just say. Either that, or i'm definitely missing the joke :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a typo bro.
ReplyDeleteNice. Will fix that. Cheers!
ReplyDeletehaha I'm drawing the heat today!
ReplyDeleteGrumpy Old Man: I'm oooooold! And I'm not happy! And I don't like things now compared to the way they used to be. All this progress -- phooey! In my day, we didn't have these cash machines that would give you money when you needed it. There was only one bank in each state -- it was open only one hour a year. And you'd get in line, seventeen miles long, and the line became an angry mob of people -- fornicators and thieves, mutant children and circus freaks -- and you waited for years and by the time you got to the teller, you were senile and arthritic and you couldn't remember your own name. You were born, got in line, and ya died! And that's the way it was and we liked it!
ReplyDeleteLife was simpler then. There wasn't all this concern about hy-giene! It my days, we didn't have Kleenex. When you turned seventeen, you were given the family handkerchief. ... It hadn't been washed in generations and it stood on its own ... filled with diseases and swarmin' with flies. ... If you tried to blow your nose, you'd get an infection and your head would swell up and turn green and children would burst into tears at the sight o' ya! And that's the way it was and we liked it!
Life was a carnival! We entertained ourselves! We didn't need moooovin' pitchurrrres. In my day, there was only one show in town -- it was called "Stare at the sun!" ... That's right! You'd sit in the middle of an open field and stare up at the sun till your eyeballs burst into flames! And you thought, "Oh, no! Maybe I shouldn't've stared directly into the burning sun with my eyes wide open." But it was too late! Your head was on fire and people were roastin' chickens over it. ... And that's the way it was and we liked it!
Progress?! Flobble-de-flee! In my day, when we were angry and frustrated, we just said, "Flobble-de-flee!" 'cause we were idiots and we didn't know what else to say! Just a bunch o' illiterate Cro-Magnons, blowin' on crusty handkerchiefs, waitin' in lines for our head to burst into flame and that's the way it was and we liked it!
Wait till Mar Solo finishes his paper route.
ReplyDeleteThat's true - all change and progress is always good without exception. Well said.
ReplyDeleteCan i ask why its a bad idea? the blog is not closing down... simply being replicated on FB for people who use it a lot..
ReplyDeleteLove this
ReplyDeleteYou'd have to ask the fellas downvoting everything I say like mad :)
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what's happening. The Blog isn't going ANYWHERE.
It's just a case of, if you want easier access to the blog (if you're a regular Facebook user, which, statistically many people in the world are) and want a cherry on top, then 'Like' the page.
No one's forcing anyone. It's just optional, guys.
I too fear change.

2/10. Would like to see more trolls in the future, but on different subjects. Like maybe about Ducktales the original NES game? That game was really good but it was too short. I wish it had more levels. Am I right Blog O' Doomers?
ReplyDeleteThere are still people who don't use Facebook? Weird...
ReplyDeleteThing is, I do get it. Some people don't want their info out there, and that's cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even a Facebook 'lover' as it were, but force of habit means I use the app on my phone quite a lot, and I know many are the same.
No, I get it, too. Working at a newspaper, I was forced to get up on all the social media stuff (Facebook, Twitter, one of my reporters is pushing Instagram, whatever that is...) and I'm sure I wouldn't be as into all that jazz if not for my job.
ReplyDelete(Cheap plug - give the Queens Tribune a like! [thumbs up])
I just like to tease. I absolutely have hit "like" on the BoD Facebook page.
That fucking song is STILL in my head! Da da, la la la la, da da....
ReplyDeleteI know. Even my dad is on FB.
ReplyDeleteFacebook is a bit too much "Worlds are Colliding" for me. I have boycotted it the entire time. I refuse to let Mark Zuckerberger make money off me so he can buy more shitty hoodies.
ReplyDeleteWho are you?
ReplyDeleteugh... i hate instagram.
ReplyDeleteits worse than twitter.
Yeh see that I completely hate. I don't see the purpose at all.
ReplyDeleteDan Selby. This is my Twitter handle i'm using.

ReplyDelete
ReplyDeletei hate to co-sign this if he is a troll, but i agree with him.
ReplyDeleteBut i have told Selby this before, offline.
The BoD Round-Up, while makes SOME interesting convo, only serves as who can "make the smarkiest/funniest comment of the day". So it really highlights the more funnier posters of the blog as opposed to the more intelligible posters like Kyle/Charlie Owens/Weyer etc.
Not saying they aint funny, but when i think of the laughs, i think of Jef Vinson/Cult/Chan/Dougie/TenGermans/YJ2 (kinda)
The Fuj "MASTER OF BURIALS"
ReplyDeleteNext is CAPS LOCK MAN
WE COMIN FO U N***A!
Brass Eye - literally the best comedy show ever made. Kudos to you.
ReplyDeleteGlad to have this back. Gives a news round-up to those who don't want to venture to the shitty NEWZ sites and allows a platform for fun discussion.
ReplyDeleteThank you, man. Appreciate that. I do the trawling so you don't have to! haha
ReplyDeleteRight on! The guy's a fucking genius. My teenage comedy was literally based around that and the Day Today.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were attempting to hurt my feelings, good sir, for they are hurt!
ReplyDeleteYep, and I respected you for taking the time to talk to me personally about it.
ReplyDeleteYou'll find though, I won't just do the 'funniest' thing I see as COTD.
It's simple a comment I see that I feel deserves exposure, be it funny, entertaining, informative, whatever.
But everyone's got their opinions, and it's all cool.
You're the opposite of Gallant.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see this is back. It's a lot of effort, honestly, so good on Dan for being willing to do it.
ReplyDeleteAs for those who don't like it; I'm sorry that Dan has kidnapped your family and forced you to click and read the round-up everyday, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Brass Eye, Day Today, Jam... all amazing. You seen his film Four Lions?
ReplyDeleteYeh man. Only once. I think my expectations were unbelievably high and it just didn't reach them.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to watch it again sometime, though!
because it's so much less interesting than another discussion about a Cena heel turn, the Montreal screwjob or the mess that was the "InVasion"?
ReplyDeleteI just noticed your username. Oh my god.
ReplyDeleteIt only gets better on a second watch. Anyway, if I wasn't already a fan of your updates, knowing you're a Chris Morris fan makes it only moreso. #wweuniverse #morrisfellatio
ReplyDeleteI always felt like friends, work, and family were three totally separate entities and should be left as such. Having them all under the FB umbrella is actually kind of scary. Toss is the fact that I don't give a shit what people from high school are doing and a nosey wife, that equals no FB for me, thank you.
ReplyDeleteStill love this feature, totally don't blame you for making it less than "daily" man.
ReplyDeleteSocial media is kind of weird I think, I'm shocked by how many people freely give away their locations and businesses they use and announce to the world that their home will be empty for two weeks while they're in Tahiti. Remember when people would buy little timers to fake your lights turning on so it always looked like someone was home when you went on vacation...? Now you announce it globally, it's fucking weird.
ReplyDeleteThen after dipshit in Colorado shot up that theater the media went on that crusade screaming that not having a Facebook or a Twitter could be a "sign" of impending murderous rampage...it was just more reason to never start one I thought.
Four Lions is one of the fucking funniest things I've ever seen. A movie you never could've gotten away with making over here. I believe it's still on Netflix.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing you eat that you need to take a pic of is your girlfriends asshole.
ReplyDeleteI missed the round-up. I didn't have to go to other websites for meaningless rumors, because this one would provide me with some actual, relevant stories. Glad to have it back!
ReplyDeleteNo one could care this much.
ReplyDeleteindeed! 4 levels, plus final visit to the haunted mansion? ARE YOU SERIOUS, BRO?!
ReplyDeleteGlad to have this back, and I think having BONUS information on facebook is a good idea, if nothing else, it's a reminder to go check the blog.
ReplyDeletewe have a winner.
ReplyDeleteNo, its not. Everyone here is to agree and ONLY agree... otherwise they are trolling.
ReplyDeleteAbout a year after I started using Facebook, aunts and uncles started friend requesting me and just this past year, my 75-year-old mother signed up so she could see photos of my sister's new daughter.
ReplyDeleteI used to be able to have some fun on Facebook. That ability is a little impeded by worrying about what my mom would say...
Due to a family illness and wedding, I'm in town visiting my parents for a couple of weeks, while the girlfriend is at home. My parents had a bitter divorce a couple of years ago. Last night I tried to update my status simply to say I'm eating pizza and watching hockey....
ReplyDeleteBut I had to block it from my fathers side of the family because it was my step-sisters birthday and I didn't write on her wall to wish her happy birthday and was going to play the "I wasn't on facebook that day" card. The reason I didn't want to write on her wall is because it might come up on my friends newsfeed that I did, and if someone, such as my girlfriend, clicked on her profile and happened to look at her pictures they'd fine one of me with a hot young thing sitting on my lap - which was totally friendly and just for fun flirty but it wouldn't look that was to a jealous girlfriend....I rejected the photo tag for the obvious reason, but also because it leads to another album which my friends, including my mother, could see, which is my father's recent re-marriage. If my mother sees photos of me standing happily with my dad and his new wife, now I have a problem with her...
So after doing all the proper blocking, I update my status, and within minutes a female friend from high school "liked" it. She also "liked" my last two photos and commented on a status that I should go out with her and her friends some night - which to my girlfriend would mean I'm fucking her, no questions asked. (I'm not)....so I use facebook tricks to delete the "like" and block the status from the high school friend, and in truth only update my status with such mundane details so my girlfriend knows what I'm up to when I'm here....when an hour later another girl who I hooked up with 4 years ago with a slutty name "liked it". I deleted it and gave up.
Facebook is more trouble than it's worth these days.
With all due respect man, that just sounds like your girlfriend's a bit paranoid.
ReplyDeleteI've had a three year long distance relationship and we both use Facebook, and it hasn't caused an issue.
Jinxing myself here, aren't I?
HA
ReplyDeleteWoot, I'm Interengent, Here's to Edumacation
ReplyDeleteDougie has more likes then down votes for a post, What the Fuck is Happening!?
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't seen it, Chan, seek out Brass Eye. Sacha Baron Cohen, John Stewart and their ilk owe their careers to that show and it still did it better and edgier than they could ever hope to do.
ReplyDeleteSays the guy with 3 total posts.
ReplyDeleteDis-a-gree.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great feature that has started many an interesting discussion. I am happy to have it back.
It doesn't highlight the more funny posters on the board; otherwise, I'd dominate the section every time. Thankfully, just like Kane, I don't need the title to have the respect.
ReplyDeleteI understand this. My wife has to carefully edit access so that no pictures of her father's new (as in only 10 years together) wife holding our kid appear to her mother's side of the family.
ReplyDeleteFacebook blows.
I feel that this should be comment of the day.
ReplyDeleteOh she is, but she's just one of those people who take facebook to be serious business. At this point it's just something I use because it's become routine and I'm usually posting things expecting maybe 5 people on my list to care. But some people like to over analyze it.
ReplyDeleteI actually thought the powder stuff was a move by HHH to put something on his body so Brock couldn't grab onto him with submission attempts (he is Cerebral Assassin, after all). They did a cut-away to a vexed-looking Brock as he came down to the ring and it fit a little.
ReplyDeletewhat am I missing?
ReplyDeleteHe's put the effort in instead of just one easily dismissed one liner. HE'S LEARNING.
ReplyDeleteRewatch the first episode some time and you'll see where my username is from.
ReplyDeleteThe Rock is definitely done, and it has more to do with the fact that this latest injury has pretty much screwed up the shooting schedule for that Hercules movie he was starring. His agents aren't going to let him wrestle anymore when that has a chance of happening again and costing him and his agents more money.
ReplyDeleteGod damn, that was funny. And 5 downvotes for that? Talk about not having a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteReturn of Daily Round-up : Yay!
ReplyDeleteExclusive Facebook content : Boo!
Funny you mention that when you're about to win in a landslide. And come up with more material like that, that was fucking hilarious and spot-on to boot.
ReplyDeleteSome of us just got sick of looking at people's ugly children every goddamned day.
ReplyDeleteNobody remembers Dana Carvey these days.
ReplyDeleteChrist, the last Troll to break through and become a real player respected by the blog was Zanadude--And look how high he's reached!!
ReplyDeleteThis is why you don't friend family on facebook. Or only friend the ones who will leave you the hell alone and not judge you on your posts.
ReplyDeletePeople always look at me funny when they realize I don't friend people in my local town and prefer to use Facebook to meet new people or to socialize exclusively with my internet friends who I never meet in real life.
Or you could be picky on who you friend so that you don't have to have such problems.....
ReplyDeleteOr just don't friend the family who give you grief.....
ReplyDeleteOr she can tell her mom to fuck off and defriend her on facebook if her mom is going to force her to jump through hoops
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing this back!
ReplyDeletei called the dougie face turn, weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteYou're tip-toeing big man. You need to strut.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually getting unbelievable now. The song will not leave my brain. It's always ticking away in the back of my head.
ReplyDeleteThe guy's really getting over, isn't he? Good to see.
I live in the real world though Jesse.
ReplyDeleteDid I just get Baked? Is that how that works?
To be honest, as a long time reader and occasional poster, I did miss this at all. However I do think all of the posts done by some guy named Scott Keith are really clogging up the blog everyday with meaningless drivel and really are just getting in the way of my awesome comments. Too much of him is overbearing and kind of ruined the blog for me as just a reader.
ReplyDeleteGoofus then.
ReplyDeleteAnytime I see "literally" written I read it in Rob Lowe's voice from Parks and Rec. Cannot undo it.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that.
ReplyDeleteThe 'Hide' button is a God send.
Wow, that was a really religious comment.
Yeh, you're not wrong there.
ReplyDeleteWho the fuck would downvote this? This is how life should be.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find a bit worrying is, it DOES still hold up today, but it almost loses some of its 'over the topness' because, in actuality, a lot of television is edited in such a ridiculous way these days.
ReplyDeletethose are on principle of him being dougie...
ReplyDeleteThe reason Vince loved the crowd was because Fandango(or at least his theme) was over and isn't Fandango Vince's pet project now?
ReplyDeleteYou really need to set your GF straight. I mean if you said the lap sitting was completely friendly, then I see no reason why she shouldn't believe you.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was some kind of war paint or powder they throw into the air.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing Instagram's good for are Alexa Vega bikini pics.
ReplyDeleteYeah, fuck 411 and their bullshit pop-up ads. No need to give them extra traffic they don't deserve. And someone needs to tell Ashish that it's not 1998 anymore, there are other ways to get ad revenue that don't involve malware.
ReplyDeleteYou can thank his godawful TV show and the equally godawful "The Master Of Disguise" for that one.
ReplyDeleteKevin Nealon is much funnier than him anyway.
Who?
ReplyDelete*quick google*
She got some fat tits. I can dig it.
Hey, as long as I'm in Highlights, that's all that matters.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your lady (And everybody else, really) is the problem, not facebook
ReplyDelete
