  1. For those of us without the ability to access that link... what's up?

  2. I can't see through the pay wall

    ReplyDelete
  3. Rock is pulling a 2002 Austin and went home. Guess he's more comfortable earning Razzies than Slammys

    ReplyDelete
  4. Like I said below, if this is true, it probably in part has to do with Rock "smelling what is cooking" with the smarky NY/NJ crowd (although the Meadowlands isn't nearly as vocal and crazy as MSG). Getting booed out of the building after a ball washing Cena promo and getting minimal if any sympathy heat after a Brock beat down wouldn't exactly look good for Rock's Hollywood profile. He doesn't need that. And I don't blame him.

  5. Allegedly they were gonna set up Rock-Brock for Mania but Rock walked out.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Stealing my posts now Scott!?

  7. From 411mania who quotes the Observer piece:

    According to wrestlingobserver.com,
there is panic backstage at Raw right now. The show was scheduled to
build to a segment where Brock Lesnar beat up Rock to set up next year's
WrestleMania main event. The problem: Rock is not there and has
reportedly gone home. Vince McMahon, the writers and producers are in
the process of redoing the show, evidently believing the angle has been
nixed. Nobody knows any details as to what happened past that. As of
this time, the belief is that Rock is not appearing.

Also, there is a second major angle tonight to set up the main feud
going forward and the Extreme Rules main event involving John Cena's
next title defense. Word is that it is one of the things that has been
planned for some time and was actually scheduled before Mania.

More details as they come…Read more at http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/279899/Huge-News-Regarding-Raw-Tonight-%E2%80%93-Panic-Backstage-(SPOILERS).htm#8EhYIqVpDZrFEXVg.99

  8. One of them pays more.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The Rock is turning into Hollywood Hulk Hogan. Politics, ego, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yep, especially when the crowd cheers Brock for destroying Rocky & Cena

    ReplyDelete
  11. haha. Yeah, but it's just us snarky 30-somethings that care about stuff like Rock-Cena getting shit on right? smh at this company

    ReplyDelete
  12. Rock's first post-match tweet was to Dana White. Maybe he's pulling a 2004 Brock.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Thank God they signed the Honky Tonk Man to cover for Flex, amirite?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah, Rock is taking food off of multi-millionaire Brock Lesnar's table!

    ReplyDelete
  15. SO. MUCH. FACEPALM

    ReplyDelete
  16. I wonder if this increases Austin's market value for next year's Wrestlemania (if that is indeed an option). Cena vs. Taker and Punk vs. Austin would suffice, IMO. Brock helping make a new star at WM30 works

    ReplyDelete
  17. I just can't believe how wrong The Rock detractors were. People like myself and Fuj, we're gonna be eating crow for years. I mean, he came back, completely stole the heat from Miz for the main event of WM27, couldn't pop a buyrate for Survivor Series, had an under-whelming match at WM28 then left. He came back at the Rumble to take the title from the guy who's earned it more than anyone in years, and couldn't even show up in enough shape to have a great match with a guy who's had non-stop great matches, also couldn't pop the buy rate. Hardly shows up on Raw. Repeat performance at Chamber, couldn't pop the buy rate. Then we head into Twice in a Life Time, where the crowd didn't give a fuck, and they had a terrible match.

Now he's packing up his HGH and going home.

    This crow taste terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I had no interest in another Rock vs. Brock anyway and have no idea why that was considered a "dream match" to begin with. Watch SummerSlam 2002, back when Rock could still go and Brock came out of it looking like a star. That's enough for me

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would pay cash money to see HTM sub in for Brock at next year's Wrestlemania.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Now we know what the Rock's been cooking all these years...crow sauteed in shit.

    Somewhere Chris Hyatte is cackling.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Preach on! Add me to the group with you and The Fuj. Rock took his ball and went to Los Angeles.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Once again, I challenge anyone to defend the Rock

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'll wait for the whole story to come out before passing judgment on The Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So long to The Rock live on Raw...via satellite segments!

    ReplyDelete
  25. He was the guy who came back at KotR, told Austin to Stay the F out, bailed them out of a pinch, and made Brock.

    This is his receipt.

    ReplyDelete
  26. First and foremost i would have enjoyed Brock destroying Rock and setting up for WM30.

Secondly, I'm kinda disappointed in the Rock (although the full story isn't out yet) for someone to just bail on plans without talking about it. I'm wondering if it's just ego or dissatisfaction with the guys in the back or he's been unhappy with this whole thing for a while. He's basically pulled an Austin from 2002. (take his ball and go home)

Lastly, this is actually a blessing...because like it or not, the rock being on that card was just taking another spot from someone else that should be there.

Holy shit...has this just put some major irreversible heat on Dwayne with the company for a long time?

    ReplyDelete
  27. In what world would he be justified in screwing them over for no reason? Just b/c he did them a solid in the past doesn't give him the right to derail everything now.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Rock made Brock on his way out in '02. He put over Goldberg in '03. Rock returned the job to John Cena last night. What more do you think he owes them?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Why not just have a cool main event with Brock fucking wrestling someone and getting a win. What a fucking concept. I would rebook the show to build around a 30 minute main event and worry about long term plans in the board room this week. That simple.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Didn't pop the buyrate? You have no proof of that WITHOUT him not being on there. Underwhelming numbers? Perhaps, but that's NOT the same thing. Also excuse me if I think YOU are the last person most people would take seriously when it comes to judging matches.

The truth is the WWE is more at fault than the Rock is. They are the ones that decided to put their eggs into the Rock and Brock baskets, instead of TRYING to find that next Rock or Brock Lesnar. And really, at this point The Rock doesn't NEED the WWE anymore, if anything it's the other way around. If he was TRULY unprofessional, he would've decided to NOT face Cena again this year and NOT return the job to him.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good. Maybe now they can try to build toward the future instead of relying on tired acts from the 90s all the time. They shouldn't have wasted 3 years promoting a guy who did buisness with them out of a courtesy anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree I am perfectly content watching that match, ain't gonna be a rematch - don't want one.

    ReplyDelete
  33. How is that Jump to Conclusions mat working out?

    ReplyDelete
  34. As for that 2nd major angle - Orton heel turn setting up Cena's first title challenge?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah but in the end there WAS a rematch between Apollo and Rocky. Even they couldn't resist.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Austin's window is closed, Punk vs. Austin would have been cool 2 years ago, Punk already made himself a star without Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wish others above had the wisdom to think of that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Maybe it's something contract related?

    ReplyDelete
  39. No reason? You have no idea what happened, how can you be sure there was no reason?

    ReplyDelete
  40. You are right. I have never been a huge fan of The Rock; I respect his contribution to wrestling but I feel he has been a diva during this run.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is the Internet. It's better to be first than right!

    ReplyDelete
  42. "Guys I won't be on the RAW after WM, so don't go booking a major angle around me or anything." It's really not a hard concept to understand.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Maybe you should wait before this is verified as more than a rumor to call Rock out for going home.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Do we even know the entire story yet?

    ReplyDelete
  45. And we'll never know the result of that re-match. It was just for them.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I challenge someone to wait until this story is more than words on a page before rushing to judgement.

    ReplyDelete
  47. That was their Thrice in a Lifetime. They fought the first time, claimed there wouldn't be a rematch, fought again, became friends and had a secret battle. Sounds like a WWE Storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Indeed. Marks are people who take the first grammatically stunted utterings of Meltzer as the gospel truth.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ESPECIALLY when this is just ONE observer angle. Because if Dave Meltzer said it, it MUST BE TRUE. Because he's NEVER been wrong before.

    ReplyDelete
  50. What reason is possibly good enough for him to bail hours before a scheduled appearance. Completely screwing over the company that gave you the vanity title only for you to not bother promoting it on any of your hundred mainstream appearances. He could literally taken a bullet for vince, doesn't excuse plain unprofessional conduct. Heck he could have been fingered in the shower by JBL and he'd still have to show up to Raw the next morning.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Until Raw comes on and Rock isn't there and Punk comes out and buries him for taking his ball and going home, this is just a rumor. Act accordingly.

    ReplyDelete
  52. RUSHing to judgment?

    Check my username, brah. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't know the man or what his reasons are but either way its WWE's fault for relying on old nostalgia acts anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I dunno, how *is* it working out? Does it even lift?

    ReplyDelete
  55. OK in retrospect I lobbed that one over the plate.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Keller is reporting it now, too.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Gee, I don't know, maybe JUST BECAUSE he doesn't do it NOW doesn't mean they can't do it later. Is this angle SO IMPORTANT that it can't be done in the next week or two?

Also how do we know the WWE and Vince didn't bother telling him about their plans and Vince and co. JUST ASSUMED? Because Lord KNOWS the WWE is WELL KNOWN for their diplomatic organization.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Keller is even more useless in that department.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The 411mania update said someone described the backstage scene as "chaos".

How can one 20-minute opening segment, which sets up a match that won't take place for an entire year, throw everyone into such chaos? Unless they have no plan for the rest of the show yet, which would be ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Like the time they let his contract expire in 2005 and didn't tell him until after it expired, for example?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Haha. Man would that be awesome actually. And I'm actually in support of Rock no-showing - if this in fact true.

    ReplyDelete
  62. To repeat, what do you know about the details of the situation?

Do you know the details of Rock's contract? Maybe it has a stip that lets him walk away after WM29 if he wants to. Maybe the WWE is the one making assumption that just weren't true.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Rock/Brock was the rumored main event for 30. They probably have to switch other matches around now.

    ReplyDelete
  64. A scheduled appearance is a scheduled appearance. This isn't TNA WWE doesn't just assumes that someone will be there, they work out which dates they work, and if someone like Rock had a problem with the program, the least he could do is go to vince and sort it out, the absolute very least is give the guy a call, but he took off WITHOUT notice, no matter who you are or what you do. That is considered unprofessional, and when it comes to live television performances that stuff is some real bullshit on Rocky's part.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Brock / Punk vs. Daniel / Kane and give em' some time (30-35 min w/entrances) plus a couple segments to build. Problem solved

    ReplyDelete
  66. I would not be shocked if this is a work that eventually leads to the return of a heel Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  67. That would be tremendous

    ReplyDelete
  68. It's as simple as this, you have an appearance, you make it, you can't make it, you give notice. You don't just bail.

    ReplyDelete
  69. If this is true remember what happened in 07 when this happened? Cena and Shawn tore down London. I wish Punk was healthy. Cena vs. Punk!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'll eat my dog's shit if that happens.

    ReplyDelete
  71. "Chaos" just probably = the McMahon family and their minions.. I bet HHH has already taken the opportunity to verbally BURY Rock in a million different ways backstage for everyone to hear. I doubt the wrestlers who actually may get more tv time tonight even care in the slightest.

    ReplyDelete
  72. "This isn't TNA WWE doesn't just assumes that someone will be there, they work out which dates they work"

And you know WWE doesn't screw this stuff up beyond a shadow of a doubt HOW?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Would WWE social media be reporting this as "news" if this was a work of some kind?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Again your assuming facts NOT IN EVIDENCE.

    ReplyDelete
  75. They didn't throw together most of the matches for this year's WrestleMania until last summer at the earliest (Brock-HHH, maybe Punk-Undertaker). NOW they're in a rush to solidify next year's card??

    ReplyDelete
  76. Even if he went home for valid reasons, that entire paragraph of up there still stays, only that tiny sentence that says "Now he's packing up his HGH and going home" is removed.

Doesn't matter what he does now, his return has been a waste of time, money, and talent.

By the way, much respect on the avatar.
