Why doesn't King Kong Bundy ever appear the WWE?

Hey Scott,

Any idea why King Kong Bundy never appears for any WWE nostalgia shows? Apparently, he's not even in the HoF?

I dunno, because he's a REALLY funny guy and would probably fit in well with their wacky backstage skits and would do a hell of a HOF speech to boot.  He absolutely would warrant inclusion.  I don't think there's any bad blood, either.  Maybe he's reading this and can enlighten us.

  1. I'd love to see Bundy lumber down to the ring or in a backstage segment. We've certainly seen worse legends than he.

  2. My friend claims he almost got him casted for this independent film he was shooting. Considering he got Alan Ruck, The Blue Meanie, and Jim Neidhart in the movie, I'm inclined to believe him.

  3. They could even get Ed O'Neil or Katey Segal to induct him. You know, since they're related :)

  4. Beat me to it. He was great on that Married with Children episode.

  5. Maybe Bundy doesn't want to sign one of those legends contracts, preferring to make his own indy deals. That's the catch with the HOF --- it's an honour and all, but for guys who want to stay free of WWE's tentacles, they might just prefer to stay sidelined.

  6. I got to meet him a few times...we went to the same high school in Southern NJ, but in different years. He used to appear at a bar that showed WWF PPVs, and would talk with people, sign autographs, etc. There usually weren't huge crowds to meet him, so I got to speak with him for 15-20 minutes at a time. I always kind of pulled for him since he was from the area, but liked him even more after seeing what a friendly, funny guy he was. Would be great to see him on TV in some capacity.

  7. The five count: there's another easy gimmick someone needs to bring back.

  8. You might actually be right on this. Bundy has been working the indy circuit for a really long time now and seems to be doing just fine with it.

  9. Until this post, i actually assumed he died years ago.

It does seem rather strange, for those claiming that the leegnds contracts are a "stranglehold" tink abot all the WWF legends who stll do indy dates and are far more over due to occasionally appearing on tv. Unless you think that Jim Duggan would be as popular as he is today, if he hadn't been on tv since his WCW run.

  10. And while we are on that subject...why not bring back the Berzerker's finish of tossing guys out for the countout win?

  11. Wasn't Big E using it on NXT? I thought someone said that...

  12. I always liked Bundy. Sure none of his matches were 5 star affairs, but they often had 5 counts. That should count for something right?
I think its a shame his star rose and fell so quickly around Wrestlemania II. That said, he did make the most of that opportunity. Its the main thing that kept his career going.

  13. Big E is still using it on NXT in fact.

Nah, I'd rather they instead just have someone yell "huss, huss"

  15. Cool story bro. Tell it again.

  16. This is a good question. From what I've read Bundy is really good with his money and he probably doesn't need a legends deal. His elbow drop on Little Beaver at WrestleMania III is rarely talked about on TV anymore, but I remember laughing about it as a kid when I first saw the show on VHS. I remember throughout the match wondering "what if Bundy falls on one of the midget wrestlers?" and then when he elbow dropped Beaver I marked out.

  17. He uses it in NXT but he doesn't use it in the WWE. They should allow him to use it on the main shows.

  18. Bundy splashing Heath Slater would be fun to watch.

  19. Cause it didn't get Berzerker over?

  20. there was an action figure of him. although I guess they had to change his name due to copyright issues.

  21. Hulkamania is for the moral majority. Bundamania was for the immoral minority.

  22. The only guy to fight both Hogan and Undertaker at Wrestlemania!

  23. Nash seems to be doing fine with Legends deal + indy dates.

Bundy should have been one of the legends to come back and squash Heath Slater.

  25. i have nothing to to add but that the creators of Married with children based their charatcers surnames after Dusty Rhodes and King Kong Bundy.

  26. I bet he'll use it when he eventually turns on Ziggler and goes face. Hopefully sooner than later, he's one of the few wrestlers that seems to be a much better face than heel.
