I stand by my prediction of 1.28 million. Wouldn't be surprised if it's lower but it'll break 1 mil. We care about build more than most people I think.
I'm still debating whether or not I want to waste 4 hours streaming this for free... I don't actually want to watch the show but I don't want to miss the live thread
The live thread seems like it'll be really fun, but were I to watch it, I'd torrent it(not that I would. That's a terrible thing to do) and I wouldn't want spoilers so I'd avoid the live thread.
I believe it was 962k, which was pretty much dead center when we started, but now it is way in the lower third of predictions. Not feeling too confident about it these days, but we'll see. I still think the domestic number is going to fall a noticeable amount, but probably not to the degree I predicted. The international numbers will be interesting.
The interviews this weekend have done more to sell me on Mania than the past three months of WWE TV. That's really, really sad.
Perfect example: Mark Henry talks a lot about respect and how you should respect him. Come to find out, per Ryback's interview with Peter Rosenberg: Henry stole Ryback's original nickname (Silverback) after Ryback got fired from developmental and they wanted to push Henry. That's the first concrete reason I've heard for the whole feud aside from "Two big angry dudes in each other's way".
Cena will win, HHH will win, UT will win, Dolph will NOT cash in his briefcase, Cena will NOT turn heel nor will he even figure out how to wrestle LIKE one when 80k people shit on him, those same 80k people will groan with crushing disappointment when Jericho loses to WANGODANGO, Diddy will get 30 minutes to suck and a good match will be cut short because of it, while Living Colour will probably not even be shown on-camera. This...is WRRRRRRRESTLE-MANIA!
I don't think 80k people will groan when Jericho loses and I think you're underestimating Cena's ability to work as a heel/tweener for a night. But everything else is probably spot on.
Don't get me wrong, I'm probably not going to order the show, but I will check it out later, it's got historical importance and spectacle on it's side as far as giving you a sense of desire to check it out.
I'm super-stoked for Mania. I have a group of 10 coming by for the show, most casuals who haven't seen a show since WM28. Really happy I have Insight, where the HD feed is only $60 instead of whatever insane prices are being charged elsewhere.
I've tried but for whatever reason I just can't seem to get pumped for Mania this year. Taker-Punk is pretty much my anchor for this show. Undertaker is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Anytime he wrestles I'm down.
I've heard *nothing* on them adding any new markets and I've spent some time looking for it, so I'm guessing no. Their model seems to be to set up the infrastructure for access, give it away free for a few years, and then start charging for it at a bargain price while continuing to expand access to the rest of that population, so I imagine those with access will at least grow slightly from last year.
I can't believe they managed to call a big black guy a fucking GORILLA and didn't get picketed. They've done worse but damn. So much risk for so little reward.
925K! 925K! 925K!
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed the hhh/lesnar and punk/taker builds a lot. The cena vs rock feud has been bizarrely bad but I'm still excited to see the show tomorrow

ReplyDeleteFuck Mania.. Jay Briscoe, World Champion..
ReplyDeleteHave they expanded any other foreign(I should say international-PC woo!) markets since last year?
