This is a 20 minute clip which is basically the evolution of Ambrose in promos...from the indy indys to FCW. It's surreal emotionally...I'm disturbed watching it but I can't turn away. Him talking about his mom as a crack whore (while pointing to the corner)...wow.
This is why I've hitched my train to the Ambrose rocket, because he's gonna be a breakout star and you might as well get on board with it.
"...And all I wanted was for her to do well on her exam, so I shot the dog... And all of a sudden I'M A BAD GUY!?"
ReplyDeleteHe's the man.
With ease, he can become WWE's top heel.
You hitched your train to a rocket? Why would you need a train in space? Or is it, like, a rocket train?
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm really bummed that I don't have 20 free minutes to watch this right now.
That's fucking awesome
ReplyDeleteHe's got something over most on the mic these days - he looks for genuine motivation for his feuds. What does his character want, and why is it driving him.
ReplyDeleteThe parallels between his early promos and the way Foley talks about his WCW stuff is uncanny. Find a motivation, put over your opponent so you both look good...
Random threadjack but I've just come across this little gem on youtube! Enjoy!
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/k3jJMyRPNak
Hi! Welcome to last month.
ReplyDeleteWOW. He's like a cross between Roddy Piper and Heath Ledger. The promo on the street about where he used to live and his prostitute mother was unreal.
ReplyDeleteI must have missed the thread if this has been discussed before... but then again some of us have better things to do then to follow and actively remember every discussion made on this blog. Congratulations on being a smartass, I'm sure your family are very proud of you!
ReplyDeleteHe's one of the best promo guys in a while, and I hope they actually let him talk at some point. The Shield shaky-cam promos are cool, but if he splits off and starts doing stuff like this on a weekly basis, he'll be a huge star in no time.
ReplyDeleteI SAW A VIDEO OF JON MOXLEY IN A DEATH MATCH THE OTHER DAY. I THINK IT WAS CZW OR SOMETHING.
ReplyDeleteWELL, ANYWAYS, MOXLEY IS WRESTLING THIS FATASS BY THE NAME OF BRAIN DAMAGE AND MOXLEY IS JUST GETTING HIS ASS KICKED. GETS PUT THRU GLASS A MILLION TIMES. BLEEDS BUCKETS.
BUT THE THING THAT TRULY SHOCKED ME WAS WHEN BRAIN DAMAGE PICKED UP AN ELECTRIC SAW. I DIDN'T THINK HE WAS GOING TO USE IT ON MOXLEY UNTIL HE FINALLY DID IT.
MOST DISGUSTING THING I EVER SAW. TRULY HORRIFYING. I DON'T WATCH CZW AT ALL SO I DUNNO IF ITS THE NORM, BUT I SAW HIM LITERALLY PEEL OUT A PIECE OF HIS SKIN WHILE BLOOD GUSHED OUT OF MOXLEY'S FOREHEAD. THE GUY IS SICK IN THE HEAD.
Not to be a buzz kill but there is a video from Moxley in a shoot interview saying that was fake. But it did look pretty sick before he spoiled
ReplyDeleteIt lol
THANK GOD FOR THAT BECAUSE THAT WAS REAAAALLLY WELL DONE. IN FACT, DID HE EVER EXPLAIN HOW HE DID THAT? I FIND THAT FASCINATING.
ReplyDeleteAt first I was confused about why some in WWE make Terry Funk comparisons to him but after watching more of his matches I can see what they're talking about.
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to sound like a pretentious indie geek, but I do feel very lucky I got to watch Ambrose, Rollins, and Bryan in ROH and Evolve. It's awesome seeing them go on to greater success, plus I got to see them in great matches before they hit the big time. If the WWE wants some compelling television, let Punk, Bryan, Ambrose, and Rollins have some sort of fued.
ReplyDeleteSearch YouTube for it. I believe he did
ReplyDeleteI totally understand. that's one of the reason why the Ziggler championship win felt more special than many others in recent years. because we witnessed his development and rise.
ReplyDeleteseriously. if the WWE somehow manages to fuck this up it with him it would be the biggest embarrassment for the promotion in years.
ReplyDeleteAnd then they didn't know what to do with him in the cartoon so he guards Antarctica. or at least he did until the whole "Lets make all of our heads into tiny transformers phase." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headmaster_(Transformers)
ReplyDeleteDGUSA was putting on a better product than ROH.
ReplyDeleteMy only concern with Ambrose is his ring work. He is excellent at selling, but he needs to develop a signature style offensively. Piper had the sleeper, eye poke, etc. I trust that will come in time.
ReplyDeleteHe's pretty special on the mic.
Anyone who can look badass while looking like Stephen Dorff in "Alone in the Dark" is pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteLoyal to Gabe? I meant before he went to DGUSA. I still can't believe Gabe convinced him to pick his new company over ROH.
ReplyDeleteEh, that's debatable. But then again 2009 is considered the start of the decline of ROH so I guess Moxley wanted to work with the man who put the company on the map in the first place.
ReplyDeleteDean Ambrose gets it:

Debatable, sure. But I stand by it. Since it was founded, DGUSA has been a better product than ROH, in my opinion. Better wrestling, better characters and simply more fun.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose is the best talker.
ReplyDeleteRollins is the best wrestler.
However, Reigns is taller so he'll get the big push.
WWE, everybody!!
I go the Jim Ross school of mixing metaphors. The final exam is REALLY confusing.
ReplyDeleteThis guy scares Brian Pillman
ReplyDeleteThat's a bit unfair. I think Reigns has been really good so far. And we haven't had a chance to see what he can do in singles competition.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit unfair, but until I see him cut a better promo than Ambrose (he hasn't) or wrestle a five-star singles match like Rollins (he hasn't) it's the truth.
ReplyDeleteHe also has the best hair. These things matter!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I mean...maybe Gabe did him a solid, or he promised a bigger push or more creative freedom or money or blowjobs or something.
ReplyDeleteHis ringwork is quite bland.
ReplyDeleteRollins is atrociously bad on the mic.
ReplyDeleteAnd Dean is being used fine, he's their spokesman and the guy getting the singles match.
Wrestling is about a lot more than ringwork and promos. You have to consider somebody's presence and also their ability overall.
ReplyDeleteStrong Foley influence. Kinda a Mankind/Cactus Jack hybrid.
ReplyDeleteWhich isn't a bad thing, it's been a really long time and he's one of the greatest on the stick.
I got to see Bryan vs Rollins at a ROH TV Taping in March of 09. 15 minute draw, great match.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for Punk and Ambrose promos. As allies or enemies. Either way
ReplyDeleteThat bulldog-driver as a finish is a nice start.
ReplyDeleteBoom

Carcinogenic Metaphors!!!!!
ReplyDeleteand sometimes hes a normal sized vehicle and sometimes hes big enough for Devastator to combine inside of him.
ReplyDeletePS: Combine Inside of Him sounds like a Cybertronian Gay (Homobotic?) Porn title.
Tyler Black is aweful on the mic, his ROH run proved that.
ReplyDeleteUh are you disagreeing with me?
