Cena v. Bryan

So sure, is Cena actually going to tap out to Bryan? Probably not. But I still think there's a good chance Bryan gets a win via some sort of Bret Hart-esque reversal-into-small-package, or Cena passes out in a No-Lock. Something clean that puts Bryan over, but Cena continues to "Never Give Up."

I think I accidentally downvoted you because I’m still learning to navigate on the iPad keyboard, sorry.

Anyway, given my experience with WWE-ese and translating their storylines, I’m actually thinking Bryan v. Cena at Summerslam is going to be split with Vince on Cena’s side and HHH on Bryan’s side, with Vince basically doing like MITB ‘11 and threatening to fire Cena if he loses to midget Bryan.  Because people are gonna boo Cena anyway, so might as well align him with Vince, and as a bonus HHH gets to align himself with hot new thing Daniel Bryan and thus take credit for it.  So HHH can help Bryan win to further his feud with Vince (because Vince has established that he doesn’t want Bryan winning), Cena has an out for a rematch, and Bryan actually kind of gets the rub by being part of the Tippy-Top Guys Club.  By WWE logic, it actually would make sense.

  1. Cena vs Bryan has great potential to hit *****.

  2. Who even reported that's the summerslam match? I honestly doubt they will go one and done with the Mark Henry Feud. At the end of the day who do you think Vince sees as more credible to beat Cena?

  3. Reports have said that Vince and HHH are both high on Bryan, there's been rumors saying that for months now

  4. Bryan is better in chase mode. They should have him lose clean to Cena at Summerslam, then spend the next eight months hellbent on getting a rematch at Wrestlemania.

  5. Reports by who? I know they are high on Bryan, but I don't think that Vince is put him in the main event of summerslam high on him.

  6. I wouldn't be surprised if what Scott thinks will happen, well, happen.

Next hot star in the company? Don't fret, here comes HHH from behind the curtain so sap some heat.

  7. And would lead to a break up between HHH and Bryan down the road and HHH getting a clean win over Bryan probably.

  8. Hopefully they'll figure out some way to involve Kevin Nash in this as well.

  9. Meltzer has been basically saying that Cena v. Bryan at Summerslam is a done deal for weeks now.

Losing to Triple H is the equivalent to beating anyone else though.

  11. Eh, I'd trust Meltzer if he gave a scoop about a future mma event. I don't remember the last big news item that he broke. If Daniel Bryan cashes in money and the bank at the end of summerslam that's one thing, but I doubt Vince would pull the trigger on that being the last match on the show, even if it was discussed.

  12. I'd love them to start building the story of the "unbreakable" small package. ROH fans probably remember that gimmick, and if he's being portrayed as an underdog, it's a good underdog move to use to win when the no-lock fails.

I'm torn on if I want him to win the briefcase though; it's been used more and more as a heel plot device, and I think him winning a mini-tournament or #1 contenders matches builds up the story a little more than the MITB win (which, lets face it, is fluky).

  13. Isn't Cena/Undertaker a lock for WrestleMania?

  14. Scott Hall was looking pretty good last I heard. Get him in the mix as well.

  15. An MITB win doesn't have to be fluky. Bryan could come down after Cena's match and say he wants to prove himself the right way, by beating Cena for the title at Summerslam. Just like RVD.

  16. Did Bruno Sammartino ever get his contractually obligated rematch?

  17. Every bit as much as Cena/Bryan is a lock for Money in the Bank.

  18. Why do people still feel this way?

What will it take to prove that WWE actually wants to push Daniel Bryan?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Try this: is Cena/Undertaker and Bryan/whovever for the WWE title headlining WrestleMania a bigger deal than, say, Cena/Bryan + Undertaker/whoever?

  20. Daniel Bryan might just be getting the Chris Benoit run with the title. The guy who is very competent in the ring, liked by the fans, and getting rewarded with a transitional run. He even does the Flying Headbutt! The similarities, hopefully, end there. We wouldn't want a Bella impaled with a carrot, now would we?

  21. He will get the highest level push because not only is HE over, he gets the stuff that WWE WRITERS come up with over.
