> Hey Scott, seeing as the BODers would never do anything as shocking as stream a WWE PPV online, what is your opinion on the Payback card, is it worth the buy?
> Here is the card -
> Cena/Ryback (3 stages)
> Jericho/CM Punk
> Barrett/Miz/Axel
> Shield/Bryan & Orton
> Ambrose/Kane
> Kaitlyn/AJ Lee
> Ziggler/Del Rio
>
> 7 matches, and we know it will be a shit hot crowd. I think this could be a great show if we count on Jericho/Punk, Shield/Orton & Bryan and Ziggler/Del Rio all delivering. Cena/Ryback could be some fun carnage, and I'm a sucker for triple threat matches regardless of how crap the participants are. Ambrose/Kane wasn't very good on Raw but who knows... and the ladies match at least has that funny bastard Big E Langston involved.
>
> What say you?
Probably worth a chance for the reasons mentioned. I might get it depending on my mood.
To see Punk return after 2 months in Chicago against Jericho... YES.
ReplyDeleteCould be the surprise of the year. The crowd will make this show a thumbs in the middle at the very least.
ReplyDelete"I'm a sucker for triple threat matches"
ReplyDeleteThere's a sentence that's never crossed my mind, ever.
If Punk is confirmed, I'm buying. I have to see his return and in Chicago of all places. That place is going to go unhinged.
ReplyDeleteTo me there are 3 levels of interest.
ReplyDelete1) Buy the show
2) Maybe watch it at a bar
3) No interest.
It's between a 1 and 2 for me. I'm very curious to see how Punk's return is handled and I really want to see the PPV version of Bryan/Orton vs. Shield.
Only thing keeping it from a sure buy is MITB next month. They seem to be stacking MITB more than they do Summerslam or Survivor Series these days and if the D-Bryan/Cena match is actually true, I'm definitely seeing that.
Still it's a pretty strong show; if WWE plays their cards right they could have a real hot 3 month period coming up with all 3 upcoming PPVs above expected numbers.
Eh. It's a WWE PPV, so they'll invariably find SOME way to disappoint, unless Punk and Bryan's awesomeness can outdo the whole writing staff.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'll definitely put the stream in Extreme, I'm not so sure about putting the pay in payback...
I'm expecting a lousy PPV. Cena-Ryback could be good, but will probably be overbooked. Only two matches on the undercard look good, Jericho vs CM Punk and Shield vs Bryan and Orton. However, the Shield match may be more about the fighting between Bryan and Orton than the match. WWE's best bet may be to throw a hail mary and give Jericho-Punk 40 minutes and hope for an all time classic. However, I wouldn't pay full price for this.
ReplyDeleteIf I absolutely knew Punk would be back, I'd go.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't ruled it out.
I hate when the build to a show blows and then at the last moment I look at the card and think, "Holy shit, that's a quality card."
Looks like a great card to be honest.
ReplyDeleteDel Rio vs. Ziggler had a MOTYC on Main Event earlier in the year. Seriously, it was a 25 minute match that I had at ****1/2. Cena vs. Ryback will be ok. I'm hoping it's fairly short like 20 minutes. Tag title match will be all kinds of fun. Punk vs. Jericho should be great as well.
If I could be guaranteed Punk and a look at Kaitlyn's cans, I'd make the 3 hour trek.
ReplyDeleteBuy the show at the bar. Pay the owner.
ReplyDeleteThe D-Bry result has me hopefully good to go, but if Chicago elevates the card as it can do,,I'm there
ReplyDeleteMy theory on WWE pay per views - the matches will be good, sometimes great. The result will be predictable, and, even if it isn't, the result rarely means anything in the long run anyway - Cena might lose the title? And have to do the same thing in the same position without the belt that he does with the belt until he gets the belt back?
ReplyDeleteNow, if shit happened I'd spend money to ensure I was able to see said shit happening live as it happened, but it doesn't, so I'll stream it. And if something comes up where I can't stream it, there's likely nothing that happens I need to know about immediately anyway.
Proud of your self for that one?
ReplyDeleteI just honestly don't see Punk wrestling on this show. It's such a fuck you to the fans, and that's about the only way the Chicago crowd could boo him
ReplyDeleteBarrett vs. Miz vs. Axel? That's on the card? ugh
ReplyDeleteHe's the guy who divised the current X-Division in TNA.
ReplyDeleteYou know, considering how "app"-i-tized things are these days in the WWE, I wonder if maybe making the WWE network a streaming subscription service that includes free replays of war, classics, and either a discount, or free coupons for a PPV a year.
ReplyDeleteYep.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, if I knew without doubt that Punk would be there, I'd see if either any of my friends in the Chi area would wanna go or if any BoDers in driving distance would wanna meet up.
I'm so close to talking myself into this.
You'd think people would be more excited for this on the strength of CM punk vs Jericho in Chicago alone. Do people not believe that match is happening? or do they just not care enough to buy it on that merit alone?
ReplyDeleteChicago hasn't dissapointed the last two times they were on ppv. Who knows...maybe Punk/Jericho and Shield/DbryOrton will give us red hot crowds and 4 star matches, that's enough to garner ppv of the year i think.
ReplyDeleteI think they will build up to Lesnar/Punk at Summerslam, by having Lesnar cost Punk the match and having Heyman turn on Punk and taking on Jericho instead. Punks face turn in Chicago? That would go over HUGE. (not that he actually needs one)
ReplyDeleteYou can bet every penny you have that Punk will be there, since it would be a suicidal move to yank him out of Chicago and screw everyone out of $50. Hell, Chi-town crowd might walk out of the building early, IF they dont burn the place down first..
ReplyDeleteAnd if you haven't read Punk's twitter account, he has practically turned face already, with 50,000 tweets from the United Center cheering on the Blackhawks. He will ABSOLUTELY show up, and the roof will blow straight into space when he does.
Agreed, but I dont think he wrestle's. After all thats gone down and him not even being involved really with this fued/match, I just dont see him wrestling Jericho.
ReplyDeleteHe'll flip off the crowd and walk out or he'll be attacked before the match, etc.etc. Match is a no contest
Until the guy turns on television he's a heel. And what better way to get heel heat than piss off the 15,000 that paid to see you
Would agree if it was RAW, but a $50 Bait and switch is below-WWE-stupid. Punk shows up in a Blackhawks jersey, building goes nuclear. Then AGAIN when Brock screws him. Actually some good booking there.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who thinks there's a good chance Punk won't wrestle? I think he'll show up (he's going to be at the Cup game Saturday in Chicago) but it doesn't seem like it's gotten much of a build (his match, I mean).
ReplyDeleteGo, I was at Raw on Monday and the Punk/Jericho (which I'm still skeptical will happen) Ambrose/Kane, and Shield/DBD+Dead Weight matches are enough to justify it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the first half. BUT I think it's a way of turning Punk face against Heyman. Punk comes out and cuts a promo about how Heyman didn't consult him about the match, Jericho jumps Punk from behind to turn heel and "injures" Punk giving Punk some more time off.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thinks the preshow match between Sheamus and Sandow might be really good? My enjoyment of Sheamus in the ring is inversely proportional to how much I dislike his character. And Sandow is awesome.
ReplyDeleteYeah, except he isn't going to get the heel heat with the crowd. The company would.
