Randy Savage vs... LIGER!?!

The weird shit you find on Youtube sometimes....
(Probably missed its chance to be incredible by about five years. Savage really did stink before the DDP feud...)

M
IND BLOWN.  I had no idea this even happened.

  1. It's a shame we never got to see Randy Savage vs Sin Cara.

  2. Savage did not stink prior to the DDP feud. He lost it sometime in 99.

  3. Hey guys, I just found another rare match on youtube. Savage/DiBiase from 89.

Boy, that's the thing about Randy Savage. I can't tell if he's injured here or just being a pimp.

  5. WHAT GOOD MATCH DID HE HAVE IN 98? EVEN A 10 YEAR OLD CAPS LOCK BOY KNEW HIS BEST DAYS WERE BEHIND HIM

  6. He had some decent matches with Sting and Bret in 98.

  7. he wasnt really having a plethora of **** either until the DDP feud.

Sure he had some good ones with FLair in 95

I cant recall the Bret/Sting matches in 98... cuz Savage got injured in Jun of 98 with the Knee tear.

  8. It's not like Savage ever got to wrestle anyone good in WCW except for Flair and DDP. The first 2 years of his WCW run were Faces of Fear, Dungeon of Doom, Flair, and Luger. And then the nWo came around and it was the nWo, which consisted of one good wrestler (Syxx).

  9. Yeah, I was surprised to find this one a year ago on Youtube. Sadly, it was the Savage Formula: take a ton of offense, sell, then come back with two moves and win.

  10. Man, so many mixed emotions. You go from....

    1. HOLY CRAP, SAVAGE WRESTLED LIGER?!?!?!
    2. Wow, Savage's knee is REALLY messed up. If only I could've seen this with Randy at full speed.
    3. But then again, it's still Savage vs. Liger, and even with Savage at 40%, it's still a solid match. My life is enriched seeing the Macho Man eat a couple of low-level Ligerbombs.

Did we get Savage/Vader in WCW?

  12. This was only 10 days after the Bash at the Beach and the Hogan heel turn. Did he get injured in that event somehow or tweak it afterwards?

  13. I'm pretty sure Vader went back to Japan before Macho showed up in WCW.

  14. Wait, what? That's awesome. Should've been the main event of WM IX.

  15. We better never get time machine technology. Triple H will be all over stopping this match before it even started.

  16. Lazy Google search shows the closest thing being Hogan/Savage vs. Flair/Vader at Slamboree 95

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey, when you're pretty sure, you're also not really not sure. Which is not quite the same as being wrong.

  18. Savage himself may not have lost it, but he didn't care to have much approaching a good match with anyone outside of Flair. Every other match was just like this one - take a pounding, hit a move, win with the elbow. He went from one of the more creative wrestlers in the world in terms of laying out his matches to being more formula than Hogan.

  19. Yeah. Sadly, if footage existed you'd think it would've turned up by now (since they found that Bret / Andre match for the last DVD release).

  20. Maybe on WCWSN or something around Slamboree. They overlapped for a pretty big period - Starrcade 94 through Fall Brawl 95. It's certainly not impossible - there's all sorts of weird WCWSN matches out there (Savage / Austin, for instance).

  21. "The referee has determined that Jake Roberts is unable to compete. The winner of King of the Ring by default, Steve Austin!"

  22. I think a lot of the WCW guys were on a tour for Japan right after. Knowing Savage, he was probably selling an injury from a previous match on the tour.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No, he's pretty wrong. They wre in WCW together for almost 10 months.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Pretty sure I remember it happening on a WCW Saturday Night.

I'd love a best of WCW Saturday Night DVD.

  25. That is slightly more watchable then the version I saw on Youtbue. But it still looks like a guy holding his camera to his TV.... I know I should't complain since I'm getting to watch it for free...

  26. Well, I guess that's why it's not called "Aric's Blog of Doom"!
