> CBS This Morning did a nice story on Tito Santana. It's nice to see a story about one of the old timers who saved their money and have found a purpose after wrestling.

Well, being a matador isn't exactly a growth industry these days...
Arriba!
ReplyDeleteAround Wrestlemania, NJ.com did a rather lengthy write-up on Tito's story that included video, and it was a very nice piece. Looks like TV is piggybacking off of that, but I'm surprised they didn't ask this guy for comment:
ReplyDeleteBobby H: Did you know Tito holds a place in Guiness' Book of World Records?
Gorilla: Yeah? For what?
Bobby H: He picked 1,600 heads of lettuce in 1/2 an hour.
Gorilla: Will you stop!
Yeah. His autobiography isn't bad either. Never new he lived in Jersey until a few years ago.
ReplyDeletehe was supposed to take the strap from flair in 92, ya know
ReplyDeleteWhy did Jesse always call him "Chico"?
ReplyDeleteI remember he had a hair salon too lol
ReplyDeleteI think it had something to do with the show chico and the man.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was just general Mexican racism, i.e. "the flying jalapeno." Also, I had a lot of tacos and stayed up all night on the toilet.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very nice piece, Tito Santana is a class act all the way.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME story.
ReplyDeleteIs Tito in the Hall of Fame? And if not, why?
ReplyDeleteHe is. Went in in 2004.
ReplyDeleteI thought they had a brief feud right before Jesse retired from the ring...of course I'm basing this strictly on memory from 27 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI got to meet Tito during a wrestling convention in New Jersey 20 years ago and he was ridiculously cool to me, spending 5-10 minutes talking to me about stuff. Really glad to see he's doing well for himself. He was always one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteone of the all time greats.
ReplyDeleteas mentioned so often before, somehow I doubt we will consider hardly anyone from today who is on the same "level" as Tito was back in his career as an all time great in the future.
What was awesome about Tito was he had great matches with everyone -- as a kid I remember him facing Valentine, Orndorff, Savage and then tag teams with Martel. All of those mataches were very good.
ReplyDeleteAnd if so, why didn't you know about it?
ReplyDeleteJesse actually beat Tito Santana in an Intercontinental Title match at the Boston Gardens.

Hey - that's MY line!
ReplyDeleteAnd this was a really great piece. Good on Senor Solis.
How do I reach these keeeds
ReplyDeleteNice to see a wrestler who saved their money and lives their life as they choose now
He's on the list of guys who might be made principal if the current administrator walks.
ReplyDeleteThat shit was almost 10 years ago. And I'm old.
ReplyDeleteYep, just outside Detroit.
